On Thursday morning, Trump repeated his claim that Barack Obama is both the “founder of ISIS” and the terrorist organization’s “Most Valuable Player” (although Obama shares that prestigious award with Hillary Clinton).
“Do you think it’s appropriate to call the sitting president of the United States the founder of a terrorist organization that wants to kill Americans?” Trump was asked on CNBC’s Squawk Box.
“He was the founder of ISIS. Absolutely,” Trump replied. “Why is there something wrong with saying that? Why, are people complaining that I said he was the founder of ISIS?”
Trump was then asked how he thought such rhetoric would play in battleground states.
“Whatever it is, it is,” Trump said. “I’m a truth teller. All I do is tell the truth. And if at the end of 90 days, I’ve fallen short … it’s OK. I go back to a very good way of life.”
Trump reiterated this sentiment later in the interview, when he was asked how he planned to catch up with Clinton in the polls.
“I just keep doing the same thing I’m doing right now,” Trump said. “And at the end, it’s either going to work or I’m going to have a very, very nice long vacation.”
Okay I think that it is now pretty clear that Donald Trump does not want to win this election.
That is the only explanation that I can come up for why he would continually make these inflammatory and bizarre statements.
Okay well there is one other possibility.
He is clinically insane.
Simple choice, self sabotage or insanity.
P.S. For those who are interested here is an article on the REAL founder of ISIS.
Guess who it is not about.
Update: Oh, so now it's sarcasm.
Trump repeated this "founder" charge at least nine or ten times, and at no point did he explain that it was sarcasm until a full two days later.Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) "the founder" of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON'T GET SARCASM?— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 12, 2016
He is now saying it was sarcasm. Check Webster dictionary: why is no one holding his stubby little feet to the fire that what he said doesn't fit the definition of sarcasm?
ReplyDeleteYeah. His two previous gaffes were jokes and sarcasm too.
DeleteFunny, but I can't tell the difference between when he's being sarcastic and when he's being serious.
I would go with insanity, or early onset Alzheimers. He is NOT normal. Far from it. He makes outrageous statements and insists on repeating them. The man is a ticking timenomb.
ReplyDeleteEarly?
DeleteAlzheimer's...nope. It's a personality disorder. Read the following excellent article from Politico on how The Donald came to be:
Delete'Trumpology: A Master Class
The personality that looms largest over the 2016 campaign did not emerge on the political scene as an unknown. In fact, Donald Trump might be one of the most deeply studied presidential candidates ever. Beginning in the early 1990s, as the real estate mogul dealt with corporate calamities, and until last year, when he descended the escalator at Trump Tower to announce his candidacy, a half-dozen serious biographies have been written about a man who has imprinted himself on American culture in towering gold letters. But those biographies—which dig into Trump’s family history, his early business successes and later financial disasters, his tabloid sex scandals and the television showmanship that saved him—had largely receded into the depths of Amazon’s bestseller list. Now those books—which have not always been to Trump’s liking; he sued one of the authors unsuccessfully for libel—have become precious source material for those eager to explain Trump’s surge toward the GOP nomination.'

Sheesh
It's not insanity. That's his normal modus operandi.
DeleteHe says something outrageous. And if the crowd reacts positively he repeats it.
He doesn't walk things back unless he gets really negative feedback (or threats from Reince Priebus). Then it's a joke or sarcasm or they weren't interpreting him correctly.
He has to keep topping his previous outrageous remarks in order to keep himself on the news and media and to make the public forget the previous faux pas buy distracting them with a newer more vile one.
He's done this consistently his entire life. It's just now the spotlight is on him and he's doing it a lot more frequently.
This morning Trump now tries to claim he was making a joke and the media doesn't get it ... he is one sick sick sick individual
ReplyDelete---
And his supporters are even sicker and crazier !
Interviewer: Why do you support Trump?
Trump supporter: He says what he means
Interviewer: But he called for someone to kill Clinton or the judges
Trump supporter: He didn't mean that
Interviewer: So, again, why do you support Trump?
Trump supporter: He says what he means
Interviewer: He said Obama and Clinton were the founders of ISIS which is not ture
Trump supporter: He didn't mean that - he was just joking, you have no sense of humor
---
Trumps tweets: “Ratings challenged CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) ‘the founder’ of ISIS, & MVP,” Trump tweeted early Friday morning. “THEY DON’T GET SARCASM?”
The real estate mogul seemed to think media outlets’ supposed inability to understand his humor was a laughing matter in its own right.
“I love watching these poor, pathetic people (pundits) on television working so hard and so seriously to try and figure me out,” he tweeted an hour later. “They can’t!"

That is because they are media people not psychiatrists !!
So, his staff and surrogates giving multiple different defenses didn't know it was sarcasm either? Or was the statement "I'm a truth teller" the real sarcasm?
DeleteSarcasm - you're doing it wrong, Donnie.
And all of this nonsense from Trump just further increases the chance that one of his crazy followers will try a "2nd Amendment solution." As a former CIA head recently commented, one is responsible for what he/she says and for what that person's followers hear. It is especially important for a contender for the presidency to choose his/her words wisely. Trump is incapable of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
So days later all of a sudden "I was being sarcastic"?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if some SS people, maybe even his own, had to slap him upside the head and explain AGAIN that no, he can't spread lies like that.
It is not the job of the Secret Service to advise Trump on what lies he can and cannot tell. (I'm sure they are all taking copious notes for their future tell all books.)
DeleteThey can only give him a good talking to when he threatens violence against the president, family or candidates.
Maybe I should have continued my sentence to say that he can't spread lies that can cause a danger to a SS protectee.
DeleteThey actually can counsel him on whether his actions could cause someone else to harm a SS protectee.
He's nothing more than a fucking asshole that also appears to be a very sick individual. He has NO right to the Presidency of the United Sates! None!
ReplyDeleteThere is no defending this pathetic POS anymore, and anyone who does should think what it says about "their" character in doing so.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I cannot believe the hoops they are jumping through to defend and "translate" what he means.
DeleteIt appears winning is more important than the destruction of democracy in the USA.
Stupidity.
ReplyDeleteDoing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
Stupidity=Donald Trump
Actually that is the definition for the word insanity.
DeleteWhich is bigger lie?
ReplyDeleteObama is founder of ISIS or McCain saying Sarah Palin is qualified to be President
Or Mittens saying that Obama never called the Libya attack and act of terror. I mean, there are so MANY lies...now Pence is jumping on the anti-media bandwagon too. Anyone who wants Trump to drop out better look at what's propping up his sorry behind.
Delete?Saying that Sarah Palin knew more about energy than probably anyone else in the country.
DeleteIt's hard to get into Trump's mind, but if it's self-sabotage because he wants to quit while ahead, what kind of individual would request people's hard-earned money and donations from around the country and globe, cause all that grief for the campaign staff, use them and exploit them, and just hope to lose this election? What kind of human could do this, cause all that fiction just to feel special?
ReplyDeleteOn insanity, the other possibility, Trump would have to be in the megalomaniac stage, creating an illusion rock-star status, or authoritarian/dictator status of himself, demanding anything and getting it all, being knelt to, and worshipped. He wants unconditional support and love, no matter what he says or does, yet insults people who don't agree with him, or who call him out. He is in stunted growth mode, maybe didn't get discipline when young, who knows?
This is probably the first time in US politics that a presidential candidate is a true danger to the safety of the country; are there no rules of party law that protect and prevent psychopathic candidates to be given status in that party?
What kind of human? I don't know, but whenever someone like this comes along, you can bet they are Republican.
DeleteWhat kind of human?
DeleteTrump and any of the so-called prosperity preachers who ask the least capable to send them money even though the preacher has millions.
As to the first, money. Trump is all about the money. He sees this as a way to make money directly through donations and indirectly by benefiting his business. He has already complained to Priebus about them using his name to raise donations. He considers all of those donations HIS and he wants the money.
DeleteJust watch him stiff all of his staff. He won't pay them their salaries in the end. Anyone else that provided him anything, office space, vendors, no one will be paid. He'll probably say he's not paying them because he lost so they don't deserve to be paid because they didn't do their jobs.
As to two, give him time. I think he's close to megalomania. But again, the only way you'd be able to diagnose him would be with his cooperation and he'll never agree to that.
Yes, he is a danger to our nation. And the Republicans know it and THEY DON'T CARE.
America as your president I'm letting you know ahead of time, we will be launching nuclear missiles tomorrow. So I recommend you stock up on goods today, stay home from work and keep your children home from school.

"the fall of a scoundrel or villain evokes applause rather than pity." Drumpf is Reprehensible.
Tragedy depicts the downfall of a basically good person through some fatal error or misjudgment, producing suffering and insight on the part of the protagonist and arrousing pity and fear on the part of the audience." He is a MISCREANT.
There are so many personal gains for Trump that feed his sick needs which are gratifying to him. After he dominates the news with his shock tactics, is the center of attention feeding his grandiose sense of importance, he bashes the media and insults the public as stupid claiming he did not mean or say what he said.
ReplyDeleteHe is using the verbal abuse tactic of abuse claiming his words are a joke or sarcasm. He erratically switches around he is truthful to pulling a big switch about the same points he did not mean what he said.
The chaos he manipulates and wake of destruction for and to others is the expense of Trump's pathological perverse needs. He has no conscience about his destructive behaviors except that he WIN these mind games he controls. There is power to use and say words that provoke big reactions and manipulate crowds to thrill to violence, Nathan to demand murder then spun that was merely "sarcasm".
Trump needs to be adored, trusted as the one and only in the universe savior or super hero, admired and envied via destroying people. He has a track record in business doing this also having his team including lawyers bombard people to not honor contracts. People are fooled that by working for him, supporting him Trump will improve their lives, enrich them.
This is how personality disordered, sociopaths to psychopaths operate.
Truth does not matter to Trump. He also orchestrates the media be bashed condemning them with his behaviors.
"So does it really matter whether Trump has encouraged assassination?
ReplyDeleteHe has already told his flock that Hillary Clinton is crooked, a liar and an ISIS MVP who will take away their constitutional right to defend their freedom just as soon as she wins an election that's already been rigged by the courts.
Trump gives the speech Republicans have been waiting for
If you truly believe all that, what extreme reaction to her election wouldn't seem rational?

These spewing of BS, spinning from his surrogates, and subsequent, "Oh it was just sarcasm!" excuses have become ever-increasing patterns. It is unbecoming of ANY presidential contender, and it is certainly not presidential behavior in any way, shape, or form. It doesn't even belong on an elementary school playground at recess.

Before Trump, Palin was on a roll with her theme that the McCain/Palin opponent was a terrorist and had been palling with terrorists for years. It didn't work all that well for Palin in the long run. It is very effective to rile certain people to do something.
ReplyDeleteMost people have probably heard that Palin pulled the old 'Obama Knows Bill Ayers!' line out of the garbage, today. The press extensively covered her comments at a rally in Clearwater, Florida, but Dana Milbank revealed the even uglier side of the rally-- the audience.
...followed her earlier accusation that the Democrat pals around with terrorists. "This is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America," she told the Clearwater crowd. "I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country."
"Kill him!"
Yeah. That's where this Palin thing is going. Sure, these were just a few voices. But they evidently felt comfortable enough at a Palin rally to openly advocate assassination.

Gryphen, my vote - he's insane.
ReplyDeleteSo how can something that's supposed to be "sarcastic" also be appropriate? Seems to me that the one negates the other. Trump's ISIS statements were not sarcasm. They were a deliberate baiting of his crazy followers.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Absolutely that was deliberate. The "sarcastic" is what he does after he is called out, when it doesn't just go away and leave the impression it was a truth.
DeleteWhat is going on with his kids? Why did they abandon him at a time like this? Something very strange is up.

ReplyDeleteTrump IS more dangerous than Sarah Palin.
Sarah Palin is stupid.
DeleteTrump seems tired. I mean it. I saw him on T.V. and he seemed kind of deflated. He's running out of bullshit. Even the best bullshitters run out, I've seen it. One year of bomblasting every common thread of human decency and dredging out the worst of humanity here in America, in the public sector and the political hierarchy, he seems out of energy. Funny thing about all this, is that although he didn't pay 1 cent for publicity but mouthed shockers all year long which the media ate up like hungry puppies, Donald's barrage of rhetoric has grown tiresome, predictable, and desperate. It's hard to be evil 24-7, 365 days long. Even Hitler couldn't pull it off, and he was batshit crazy.

ReplyDeleteHere's the complete improv riff which some people say Drumpf performed recently as part of his FUCK YOU, AMERICA 2016 stand up comedy/reality show/mockumentary faux presidential campaign tour.
"There was a guard at the Treblinka concentration camp - a NAZI DEATH CAMP! - who looked exactly like Crooked Hillary. Disgusting, right? And some of the people who saw her say it IS her! So typical of her! If this is true and it almost has to be, right? Believe me, I say to you today, without hesitation, ANY guard from ANY Nazi camp is TOTALLY unfit to president. That is the truth! I tell you this. Believe me. The Jews. Terrible things happened to them. Mostly they are good people. Some, I tell you, not so much. It's disgusting that she is even running for president after being a NAZI PRISON CAMP GUARD! Right? Is that disgusting?? It's disgusting! Disgusting Hillary is what some people call her! I know. Believe me. Some Jews are very good in business and I know many in the real estate business all over the country. The world! Several owe me money. I'll get the money, I guarantee it. Don't worry. Believe me, on inauguration day, on inauguration DAY, the Supreme Court will descend on the home of a certain Mr. Moishe "Rocky" Abramowitz, Jr. Like you wouldn't believe. He won't believe what hit him! The Supreme Court! In SWAT gear! I promise you.
How many people did Hillary kill as a NAZI PRISON CAMP GUARD? You'll have to ask her! Ask her! Ask her!! I doubt she'll even admit it much less tell you. Disgusting. Sales of Drumpf Radial Tires? THROUGH THE ROOF! Drumpf Automated Sandwich Makers? NEVER HIGHER! Drumpf Mortuary Science Supplies? Well, we like to say "it's a dying business'!!! C'MON, IT'S A JOKE, PEOPLE!!! Believe me, sales are tremendous! Just tremendous. Liberals have no sense of humor. Horrible, disgusting people. I'd like to hit every liberal in the face with an aluminum baseball bat. I'm joking, of course, I would never encourage violence. But seriously: every liberal. in the face. with a baseball bat.
The main point I want to make, tho, is that Crooked Hillary was a Nazi death camp guard. And some people say, she still is one to this day. AND OBAMA COVER UP FOR HER!! DISGUSTING!!
Ok, my pilot is signalling me the jet - with my name on it. I'm extremely rich. - is fueled up so I can get out of this disgusting hell hole. KIDDING!

Okay, you win the internet for today!
DeleteThis nightmare is really wearing me out and I have become afraid for our country in a way that I've never experienced before. I'm grumpy, obsessed with reading the news, looking at polls and somehow hoping that something will happen to end this crap now.
ReplyDeleteLast night, I made a decision in the interest of preserving my own health and it has nothing to do with just shutting off the TV or avoiding online reporting.
Instead of wringing my hands and worrying about this monster in our midst I am going to take action.
So what if I am just one person who lives in a backwater state that is supposed to vote red? There really are ways my actions can help change our nation's direction in this election that will have a long-lasting impact for generations to come.
ACTION 1: Reach for the Wallet
Last night, I made a donation to the brilliant former prosecutor who is challenging John McCain for his senate seat in Arizona. Ann Kirkpatrick is even showing up with a lead in the latest polls. Seeing her in the Senate would be a triple victory in a way for many of us who are regular IM readers:
1-Dems get another one in the Senate. Dems can take the Senate back with just 4 this time with HRC in office.
2-John McCain is OUT
3-It would be a long-overdue referendum on the ugliness, and hate and bigotry that the Republicans unleashed on us in the form of Sarah Palin back in 2008
I will be making more contributions to other Democratic Candidates in swing states once I do some research. They won't be big, but every bit will help.
I will also be contributing to our own Dem contender for US Congress here in Alaska. Steve Lindbeck - a very smart and all around good guy is going up against our abysmal embarrassment Don Young.
2. Pick up the Phone
Today I will call the Alaska Dem party (even though I am an independent) and will see how I can help get out the vote. Alaska is trending toward light pink and who says that we can't go blue, too?
3. I will encourage others to help
I learned a long time ago that you cannot reason with irrational people. And yet, I don't always remember that. So from this day forward, I will no longer waste my time online making snarky comments or even reasoned comments to those who are Trump adherents. They are not going to change. I am done reacting. Today, I choose to act. I join in with those who are already on this path and encourage those of you who have been feeling hopeless to come along, too. A lot of small voices can be heard when they're brought together.
Anne Kirkpatrick is pulling ahead by tying John McCain to Donald Trump.
DeleteMcCain is going to regret his insistence on endorsing and continuing to support Donald Trump.
May it be so with all of the down ticket candidates.
The update needs an update, now Trump is saying he really wasn't being sarcastic and the whole fiasco is the fault of the media, cuz you know they are in charge of what comes out of his pea brain.
ReplyDeleteIt has been over 90 degrees here in S.E Michigan for the past 4-5 days, 21 or 22 days total since June and that hasn't worn me out as much as trying to keep Trump's lies straight.
