Sarah Palin links to article claiming that the Wasilla church fire led to her resignation. Uh, nope.

In the article that Palin links to it says this:

Ever since she burst onto the national stage as Sen. John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election, Sarah Palin has been scrutinized and ridiculed by the “tolerant” left. 

Palin’s family has come under attack, as well. 

Over the past decade, the former governor of Alaska has handled things with a grace unseen from most politicians. 

Yesterday was the anniversary of Palin’s church being burned that led to her announcement to step down as governor.

Wait, what?

This article then links to another article which does not mention the church fire at all but gives Palin credit for Donald Trump's rise to power. (Right along with Vladimir Putin I would assume.)

The article also claims that Palin was under constant attack from the Left, (You're welcome.) and that those attacks are why we do not have Palin in office any longer. (Once again, you're welcome.)

Now look, at this point nobody knows for sure who started that church fire. The investigation kind of just petered out.

Those on the Right blame Palin critics, though that makes no real sense. (I mean if WE really wanted to hurt Palin we would have burned down the Mugshot Saloon.)

And those on the Left think that it was likely a supporter burning up records that she did not want revealed.

However what I do know for sure is that it in no way had any impact on Palin's decision to leave office.

Sarah Palin believes news story about found Bible pages in the wake of a fire that killed three people and burned over a hundred structures show "the hand of God."

I do not blame you for not clicking the link which goes to that Young Conservatives website that Palin has been pimping lately.

In the story a Dollywood employee sifts through the devastation left by that Tennessee fire and shares this story:

McCord, 24, sat on the bench where he found the paper, and called Carver over. Their work partners, Dollywood wardrobe manager Angela Davis and employee Kimberly Moore, had left to go to the restroom, McCord said. 

In silence, the pair pored over the page, the edges of which were burned black, rendering many words illegible. But parts of the right side of the page were preserved enough to get the message across: it perfectly reflected, McCord said, the tragic natural disaster that had thrust Gatlinburg and Sevier County into the national spotlight the night before. 

"O Lord, to thee will I cry: For the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field," the page reads, according to a picture of the page posted on McCord's Facebook.

"At first, we didn't know what part of the book it was from," McCord said on Tuesday night, "but we saw bits and pieces about fire and scorching the land, and how the beast groaned and roared for help." 

The page appears to be from the first chapter of Joel from the King James version of the Bible. 

"We were like this is unreal, this is unbelievable," McCord said. "When we had both fully read it, we looked at each other — and I will never forget this moment — we both burst into tears. I was ghost white, and we just prayed. There was nothing else to do.. Still to this moment, almost four hours after the fact, I don't have words for it.

I have words for it:

"Ridiculous"

"Pathetic"

 "Confirmation bias"

Apparently Palin believes that these pages represent the "hand of God" sending some kind of message to these volunteers, however in the beginning of this article it points out that the fire was responsible for "destroying more than 150 structures, killing at least three people and displacing thousands."

If there were actually a message to be gleaned from this it would surely be "I hate you all and I want to see you burn!"

NO wonder these people are the preferred targets for scammer and charlatans from all over the world.

As of Sunday morning there were 319 fires burning in Alaska.

Following on a record hot May in which much snow cover melted off early, Alaska saw no less than 152 fires erupt over the weekend of June 21-22. The numbers have only grown further since then, and stood at 319 active fires Sunday, according to the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center, with more than a million acres burned in June alone. 

“Given the high number of fires and the personnel assigned to those fires, the state’s firefighting resources are becoming very limited, forcing fire managers to prioritize resources,” noted the state’s Department of Natural Resources Tuesday. The preparedness level at the moment for the state is 5, meaning that “resistance to control is high to extreme and resistance to extinguishment is high.”

This last may was the hottest may in 91 years.

But remember climate change is a myth, and even if it was true it certainly is not due to man's careless stewardship of this planet.

Hey, you know when I said that we were on fire? Yeah, that might have been an understatement.

You know it is actually almost harder to find a place that is NOT on fire.

As literally EVERYONE mocks Donald Trump's "candidacy" for being ridiculous,. His seemingly sole supporter is the also ridiculous Sarah Palin.

Of course I wrote yesterday about Palin's Facebook post welcoming Trump to the 2016 race, but MSNBC noticed that it seemed she was Trump's only real supporter.

When real estate mogul Donald Trump announced his bid for the 2016 presidential race on Tuesday, he faced fast-flying ridicule from the likes of comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Stewart even thanked Trump for providing comedy gold for his final six weeks as host of “The Daily Show.” 

However, Trump does have one staunch, high-profile supporter — everyone’s favorite Alaskan, Sarah Palin.

Okay let me stop everybody right here to say that if Sarah Palin is your favorite Alaskan, you do not understand Sarah Palin, and you certainly do not understand Alaska. 

The former Alaska governor offered Trump words of encouragement in a Facebook post published on Wednesday. She congratulated the businessman for making “the malcontents go ballistic in the press” and backed Trump’s assertion that he will be “the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”

“His own success is testament to the job-creating achievements made possible when one applies the courageous and tenacious pro-private sector precepts we need to fire up the economy,” she said.

Yep, she's pretty much the only idiot besides Trump himself who would say all of that. The article then goes on to  mention that while Palin was stroking Trump's enormous ego she was also took shots at Hillary Clinton and the media.

They then mentioned Trump's invitation to once again join him for a slice of pizza on paper plates.

This got me thinking that Trump may be the ONLY political candidate who is immune to the Palin curse. Because let's face it, NOBODY could possibly damage Donald Trump's reputation more than Donald Trump.

Which of course includes the fact that it is now proven that he paid actors 50 dollars a piece to stand in the audience during his announcement and act like they gave a shit. 

Personally I hope Palin takes him up on that offer, after all what else does she have to do?

Perhaps a little more interesting considering the fact that currently there is a deadly fire, which has already destroyed 12 square miles of forest and displaced 275 Alaskans, burning less than thirty miles from her house in Wasilla.

But hey who can be bothered with all of that when there are Facebook posts to write, candidate asses to kiss, and cars to pose next to?

Well we're on fire again. And not in a good way either.

Fire crews are battling two serious wildfires in Alaska that are threatening hundreds of residences and have forced numerous evacuations. 

The most recent fire erupted Monday and burned six structures and prompted hundreds of residents to flee homes on the Kenai Peninsula, roughly 150 miles south of major wildfire that started a day earlier near Willow in the heart of the state's sled-dog community. 

The Willow-area blaze prompted volunteers to join in making sure that both people and their sled dogs as well as other animals were safely evacuated. 

The fire is raging near a far-flung community of about 2,000 people living along a 20-mile swath along the Parks Highway, a major road connecting Anchorage and Fairbanks.

The most current reports I've seen say that this fire has already burned up 8,500 acres, and when I walked out of my back door this morning I could smell it in the air. Quite strong actually.

Which is not surprising since the fire is only around 70 miles away from Anchorage. (But less than 30 from Wasilla.)

We get these fires almost every year up here, but usually they are not so close to people's homes.

This one is a particularly bad one however. 

Nothing humorous about the Funny River fire in Alaska.

A massive wildfire pushed by wind in Alaska's Kenai Peninsula south of Anchorage continued to explode in size, leading to mandatory evacuations of 1,000 structures, officials said Sunday. 

The number of people told to flee their homes isn't clear, said Michelle Weston, spokeswoman with the Alaska Interagency Management Team, which includes the state Division of Forestry and federal and local officials. 

Officials said that as of 4 p.m. Alaska time, the fire covered nearly 243 square miles and may continue to grow as it burns in the 1.9 million-acre Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

Reports came in last night that the fire had jumped the Kenai River, putting the town of Sterling in jeopardy as well.

The air quality in Anchorage continues to be pretty bad, and I went outside just now and there is a definite smell of smoke in the air.

The good news is that it is supposed to rain tomorrow, and that should help quite a bit.

At least that is what we are hoping for.

The effort to extinguish two large wildfires is nearly a week old. While hundreds of firefighters from across Alaska, around the Lower 48 and Canada try to get the fires under control.

The fire that has covered Anchorage in a blanket of smoke is the Funny River fire:

The Funny River fire has grown to 106,000 acres as of 9 p.m. Saturday. Fire officials say 20% of the blaze has been contained, and the evacuation advisory is still in effect. No major activity is expected overnight.

The smell outside is pretty strong, and the skies are overcast with this nasty grey haze.

I had planned on going hiking tomorrow, but I think I will wait until this all clears up.

I am too far away from the fire to have to worry about the flames, but the smoke is pretty nasty here in town, and I have noticed that I have been sneezing a lot and have had occasional coughing spells.

Which is no surprise considering the fact that just two days ago the air quality was considered unhealthy for everyone.  That does not make hiking or camping terribly attractive right now.

So much for Memorial Day weekend.

It has been a particularly dry spring, and I have little doubt that the fire season is just now getting started.

I watched this earlier today and I have to admit I was leaning forward in my chair and stressing out like crazy.

That is just about as close to death as you can get and walk away unharmed.
