Wave of women 20,000 strong are preparing to run for office.

Women's march
Courtesy of Refinery 29:

There are now 20,000 more cracks (and counting) in the glass ceiling. Emily’s List announced at the Women’s Convention in Detroit on Saturday that more than 20,000 women across the country have thrown their hat into the ring to run for public office. “It was this convention that pushed us over,” Emily’s List president Stephanie Schriock tells Refinery29. “We were at 19,000 last week and basically the past few days we shot up.”

There is a continuing wave of interest in running among progressive women that started almost immediately after Secretary Hillary Clinton’s loss in November. “Over 1,000 women hit the link on our website [to learning how to run] within four weeks of the election,” Schriock says. For the entire 2016 election cycle, which had been the group’s biggest to date before last November, Emily’s List heard from a grand total of 920 women.

Roughly half of the women who’ve reached out to Emily’s List, which was founded in 1985 to elect pro-choice women to office, are under age 45. All 50 states are represented. Schriock estimates that around 40% are looking to run in local races, such as city council and school board in their communities. Others are eyeing congressional races, some as soon as 2018.

This is a byproduct of the election of Donald Trump that is perhaps the most positive.

Personally I can hardly wait for the women to take over.

Because let's face it, the men have certainly not been doing such a great job so far.

First they marched and now thousands and thousands of women are preparing to run for public office.

Courtesy of New York Magazine:

On Inauguration Weekend, an estimated 3.2 million people in hundreds of cities across the country took to the streets to protest the incoming president. More than 400,000 people marched in Washington, D.C., similar numbers turned out in New York and Los Angeles, and even in Houston, Phoenix, New Orleans, Santa Fe, and Reno, marchers numbered in the tens of thousands. It was, as organizers promised it would be, the most massive coordinated demonstration an incoming president has ever faced. But its real power will be measured not in crowd size but in the lasting impact it has on the political process. And one of the clearest results of the march — and of the election as a whole — is the wave of political participation among women at local, state, and national levels that’s emerging in its wake.

The day after Women’s Marches swept the country, 500 women gathered in an auditorium in Washington, D.C.’s Grand Hyatt Hotel. Each one had registered to complete EMILY’s List’s candidate training program, which would better equip them to run for public office. According to EMILY’s List, a week before the training was scheduled to take place it had already sold out, and 500 more women were on the waiting list. EMILY’s List president Stephanie Schriock said the organization holds these types of trainings often, but the “incredible energy” around this one is unique. “We spend a lot of time recruiting,” she said. “[Now] we’re seeing women calling us.”

Like-minded organizations have reported similar spikes in interest. VoteRunLead reported that in the past two months, more than 2,300 women have signed up to take its online course, and the organization’s January 7 seminar registered 1,200 women in less than 48 hours. Since Election Day, EMILY’s List has had more than 4,000 people reach out to say they’re interested in running — 1,660 since Inauguration Day. And according to a She Should Run spokesperson, in a normal month the organization sees “at best, and with significant effort, anywhere between a few dozen to a few hundred women” sign up. But in the three months since the election, co-founder and CEO Erin Loos Cutraro said 8,100 women have indicated their interest in running for office by registering for She Should Run’s online incubator program, which teaches them how. What’s more, Cutraro said things show no sign of slowing. “We had a staff meeting, and we were going over numbers,” Cutraro said. “Our community manager said, ‘But hold on — we got 100 more last night.’”

I recently mentioned Elizabeth Warren as being our most likely candidate in 2020 and received quite a bit of blowback.

However if that wasn't from misogynist assholes terrified of a strong woman leading this country, and actually from progressives who simply don't see it, I would suggest to them that the face of the Democratic party moving forward is decidedly female, and that there is more than a fifty fifty chance that we are going to nominate a woman.

Sure it MIGHT not be Warren, but it then it will likely be someone like Kirsten Gillibrand, Claire McCaskill, or Kamala Harris.

Bottom line is that the women are taking over, and as a privileged white man I am totally cool with that.

Wikileaks email dump suggests that Hillary Clinton might have had a hand in picking Donald Trump as her 2016 opponent.

Courtesy of Inquisitr:

The email from April 2015 shows exactly how calculated the Clinton campaign was from the very beginning. In fact, Clinton’s campaign strategy was so accurate that a full year before the GOP field would be narrowed to Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, the Clinton campaign had detailed their plans to “elevate” the two candidates, along with Ben Carson, in a bid to split the Republican Party and force the more established candidates to become “more conservative” in speech and discredit themselves with communities of color, women, and millennials.

The Clinton strategy referred to the 2012 Mitt Romney campaign in which the Democrats note that the party inflicted damage on itself before the election even took place.

“There are two ways to approach the strategies mentioned above. The first is to use the field as a whole to inflict damage on itself similar to what happened to Mitt Romney in 2012.”

To ensure the GOP was battling itself, the Clinton campaign identified three key “pied piper candidates” that would help reign in the GOP’s downfall. These candidates were listed as Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, and Ben Carson.

“The variety of candidates is a positive here, and many of the lesser known can serve as a cudgel to move the more established candidates further to the right. In this scenario, we don’t want to marginalize the more extreme candidates, but make them more “Pied Piper” candidates who actually represent the mainstream of the Republican Party. Pied Piper candidates include, but aren’t limited to:

• Ted Cruz
• Donald Trump
• Ben Carson

We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to [take] them seriously."

Now if these emails are accurate, this is fairly impressive on the part of the Clinton Campaign and the Democrats.

I am not exactly sure how they would have gone about orchestrating this outcome, but if they were actually able to manipulate the Republicans into nominating the most toxic candidate in the history of the country, that is shear genius.

No wonder the Republicans fear this woman so much.

If this is how she plays the game of politics they might just as well give her everything she wants right now and save themselves the humiliation of losing to her over and over again.

And now I am even more impressed than ever that Barack Obama was able to beat her back in 2008.

Clearly the Democrats on the national level are playing three dimensional chess while the Republicans are apparently playing Tiddlywinks.

Just to keep things in perspective.

Did you notice that the two top truth tellers are our current President, and our next President?

Monday, May 30, 2016

Oh bro, you are so going to regret that in ten years.

I love politics, but there is NO candidate whose image I would ever even consider having permanently etched into my body.

Can you imagine this poor moron in about twenty years with the likenesses of about five failed candidates tattooed all over his body?

Gonna be such a babe magnet.

Uh, John?

Poor John McCain.

Remember when he had the gravitas to call out his fellow Republicans for their ignorance?

But then SHE came along.

SarahPAC fundraising e-mail features Ted Cruz. Can you say "Palin curse?"

Here is an actual  SarahPAC fundraising e-mail that somebody forwarded to me.

One thing is for sure, our next president took the stage at last night’s GOP debate and, let me tell you, fireworks flew!

SarahPAC has stood with many of the candidates on the stage, and we will support the eventual nominee, but that is not enough. We need to ensure that our next president has allies in the House and Senate! Chip in $25 today to help us stack Congress with true Conservatives. (Or pay to fight Dakota Meyer in court, whichever Palin deems more important.)

SarahPAC is here to fight for our conservative leaders, and send more men and women with strong values to Congress! Click here to join the fight! SarahPAC is proven, tried, and tested. We find Conservative leaders who refuse to back down, leaders who will proudly carry the torch of freedom. When you donate to SarahPAC, you are joining an alliance fighting to bring real leadership to our government! (Ha!)

It’s going to be a challenge, but that hasn’t stopped you before. Just like you, we are strong. We could have called it quits in 2010, but we didn’t. (No Sarah Palin called it quits in 2009.) We made the hard choice, we stood up and ushered in a wave of conservative values that will never be matched…Until we do it again in 2016!

Donate $25 today to make 2016 the year of the Mama Grizzly!

Best,

SarahPAC

Well Rafael's screwed now. Not that I thought he had a shot in hell in the first place of course.

Of course I have never understood why anybody donates to this slush fund for Palin, but after all that has happened I am starting to believe that doing so is a viable diagnosis for insanity.

During religious liberty conference attended by Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal, crazy Christian pastor says even crazier things about "teh gays" than the usual crazy things said by crazy Christian pastors.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

After interviewing both Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal at his "National Religious Liberties Conference" this morning, radical right-wing pastor Kevin Swanson returned to the stage to discuss the issue of how Christians are to live in an increasingly debased and secular society.

During his remarks, Swanson reiterated his view that both the Old and New Testament require the death penalty for the crime of homosexuality, as well as his position that any Christian who attends a gay wedding can only do so in order to hold up a sign informing the couple that they ought to be put to death.

He drove home his point with a passionate declaration that if he ever found out that his own sons was gay and that son invited him to his wedding, he would show up covered in "sackcloth and ashes" and then smear himself in cow manure as he sat on the steps of the church and wailed lamentations.

"Carving happy faces on the sores?" WTF does that even mean?

You know I have spent quite a few years documenting the crazy, but THIS guy is really reaching for new levels.

I mean just listen to his voice and watch his eyes. The guy is all kinds of unhinged.

If I were a serious candidate for the presidency I would not be seen anywhere near a guy spouting nonsense like this.

Which I guess tells you all you need to know about the seriousness of Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal.

Megyn Kelly mocks Republican candidates list of demands for debates.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Megyn Kelly looked over the list of demands in the GOP letter drafted yesterday––including specific requests about temperature in the room, the kinds of questions asked, and approval of all on-screen graphics––and just mercilessly mocked it.

The letter was drafted by an RNC official trying to bring all the candidates together to crack down on debates after the CNBC debacle. And while a few candidates won’t sign the letter, the fact that so many would be okay with these conditions amused Kelly.

“Can you imagine having to submit our graphics for approval to the candidates?” she asked. “Good luck with that.”

Now remember this is on FOX NEWS which for all intents and purposes serves as a propaganda machine for conservatives and Republicans in this country.

Let's face it when even your outlet for propaganda is fed up with you, you really don't have much to fall back on.

At this point I kind of wonder if we will start to see the candidates forming smaller groups and holding their own debates in the back of a bar or something and asking the media to attend if they are not too busy.

Or perhaps they will all simply call in to a conservative radio station and argue with each other telephonically.

Or perhaps Donald Trump will come to the rescue and hold the HUGEST, BESTEST debate anybody anywhere has ever seen in one of his hotels.

Of course in Trump's version of a debate, he would fill several roles including producer, moderator, candidate, and, of course, winner.

Is it wrong that I am having so much fun with all of this?

It really feels like it should be wrong.

President Obama mocks the Republican presidential candidates over their inability to handle debate moderators.

Courtesy of Crooks and Liars:

At a fundraiser Monday night, President Obama mocked the 2016 Republican primary candidates for being such whiners about the CNBC debate.

Speaking about candidates' big talk about handling Vladimir Putin, he said, “They say, when I talk to Putin, he’s going to straighten out. And then it turns out they can’t handle a bunch of CNBC moderators.”

“If you can’t handle those guys, I don’t think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you,” the President concluded.

Essentially the GOP presidential lineup is made up of a bunch of over privileged, tough talking, babies.

"Oh the questions are too hard."

"Oh the camera showed my bad side."

"Oh I want to talk more than the other candidates or I'm going to take my ball and go home."

And they want to go up against Hillary Clinton, who spent eleven hours dealing with a Republican witch hunt, and emerged victorious after eating their lunch for them?

Good luck!

I think we are already seeing strong evidence to suggest who will be the contenders in 2016.

Courtesy of TPM:

Hillary Clinton has recently met with two of the names most frequently floated to be her campaign manager in 2016, should she choose to run, Politico reported Thursday.

She met Wednesday with Guy Cecil, who oversaw the national Democratic Senate campaign arm during the 2014 election, according to Politico's sources. Clinton has also met with Robby Mook, who ran Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe's 2013 campaign, though Politico could not secure firmer details of the meeting.

No surprise here, I think we all know this is a given at this point.

But then check this out, also courtesy of TPM:

Republican operatives in New Hampshire have told Real Clear Politics that they've been contacted by a Jeb Bush confidant about running his operation in the state for a 2016 presidential campaign.

The unnamed GOP strategists told the news outlet that they had been told to "keep your powder dry" by those close to Bush.

"I think the decision’s been made, personally,” one of the strategists said. Another added: “I’ve definitely perceived an uptick in the perception of him doing this."

Yeah I tend to think the decision has been made as well.

In fact Bush said publicly that he was thinking of running, and let's face it you don't really say that in front of an audience unless you are convinced you are going to run.

And if he runs my friends, and I know that many of you don't want to hear this, he will more than likely win his nomination. And, your going to hate this part, he actually has the best chance against Hillary of ANY OTHER Republican candidate.

As much as people say they hate the idea of political dynasties there is a lot to be said for name recognition.

So in my opinion, barring some unforeseen event that derails one or both of these candidates, I think that image above represents the 2016 presidential campaign.

Sad, but undeniably true.

We now have some of the best legislators that corporate money can buy, and we as voters allowed it to happen.

Remember folks, you don't get the America you want, you get the America you deserve.

GOP choice for Oregon Senate seat is no show at candidate forum. Guess who she's getting compared to.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Trailing badly in the polls, the Oregon GOP nominee seeking to unseat Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley failed to show up for a candidate forum scheduled Saturday at her request.

According to Willamette Week, embattled candidate Monica Wehby requested the interview with other nominees be scheduled for Saturday which the paper and other candidates agreed to. However when the time came for the taped interviews to begin, Wehby was a no-show.

The paper explained that they scheduled the interview “back in July for a day and at a time Wehby’s campaign assured us she would be available. We even rescheduled the interview to suit her, as we did during the primary election campaign.”

Editor Mark Zusman, who has overseen the paper’s endorsements for 30 years, says he can’t remember a statewide candidate ever failing to appear.

Speaking with Oregon Live, Wehby campaign spokesman Dean Petrone stated that the candidate never agreed to attend, stating that Wehby had “had a full schedule” of campaign events Saturday. Petrone refused to say what the candidate did on Saturday, and denied she was trying to avoid her opponent.

“It’s a ridiculous assertion,” Petrone said. “Monica is looking for any chance she could get to discuss the issues with Sen. Merkley.”

On Friday, Wehby let the deadline pass and failed to confirm her participation in a debate hosted by KGW TV that her opponent agreed to in mid-August.

This of course has inspired some critics to make the obvious comparison.

However I think this might be a little unfair.

I mean at least Sarah Palin actually got herself elected before she up and quit.

Tea Party Senate candidate in Oregon rants at Pulitzer prize winning journalist and is thrown out of panel discussion.

That has got to be one of the best pieces of footage ever! I love the "disrespectful, thin-skinned liberals" part.

Here is more courtesy of the New York Daily News:

An U.S. Senate candidate in Oregon sounded off against a reporter who scribbled “blah, blah, blah” in his notebook during a candidate panel discussion.

Mark Callahan, the Tea Party pick in the Republican primary, blasted reporter Nigel Jaquiss for his notetaking when the five GOP contenders in the race spoke to the Willamette Week newspaper seeking an endorsement.

Jaquiss and other editors interviewed the candidates, but Callahan was miffed he wasn’t getting equal time to answer questions as the frontrunners in the race, Monica Wehby and Jason Conger.

Then Callahan blew a fuse observing Jaquiss’ dismissive doodle when another candidate, Jo-Rae Perkins, delivered a lengthy answer via conference call.

So WAS the reporter being disrespectful?

Jaquiss, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 2005, confirmed his notebook scribble to the Daily News.

“When Ms. Perkins then insisted on answering a question about the Affordable Care Act, I found her answer nonresponsive — she veered off into advocating for the dissolution of the Bureaus of Land Management and the Interior and the Forest Service — and repetitive, and I did write ‘blah, blah, blah.'’’

"Our endorsement process is for the benefit of our readers and web audience, rather than the candidates, and we make no promise of equal time. He did not like that answer," the journalist added about Callahan.

Remember these were his personal notes, not something that he was planning to publish in his newspaper.  I imagine there are plenty of times when reporters scribble something like "blah, blah, blah" when they hear one of these cut and paste responses about doing away with government agencies by conservative candidates.

So where did Callahan get his righteous indignation from? The Boy Scouts, of course.

"I developed my moral and ethical foundation from my involvement in Boy Scouts when I was younger, and being an Eagle Scout myself," he told the Daily News.

Anyhow the Williamette Week ended up endorsing another Republican candidate.

I know, go figure right?

Each and every one of the Republican candidates for the position of Lt. Governor in Texas support teaching Creationism in public schools. Good job Texas.

Courtesy of the Dallas News:

All four Republican lieutenant governor hopefuls have embraced the teaching of creationism in public schools.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Sen. Dan Patrick, Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples said in the first televised debate of the campaign Thursday night that they favor teaching that there are flaws in the theory that humans evolved from lower life forms.

Late last month, state Board of Education members adopted new high school science books that include full coverage of evolution without the disclaimers sought by social conservatives and other critics of Charles Darwin’s theory.

While none of the lieutenant governor candidates mentioned the board’s decision, three — Patrick, Patterson and Staples — blasted teaching only evolution as a form of “political correctness.” They linked it to what they described as a broader moral decline.

“The breakup of the family in this country has started when we took God out of the classroom,” said Patrick, a radio talk show host.

“As a Christian, certainly creationism should be taught,” said Staples, a former state legislator.

Dewhurst, who is seeking a fourth term, agreed.

“It’s a fair discussion to expose students to both sides and let them make the decision with the advice and counsel of their parents,” he said.

Patterson said the country has gone too far in deleting religious instruction from government institutions such as schools. A 1987 U.S. Supreme Court ruling banned teaching of creationism in science classes.

“We need to go back to those things that made this country great,” he said.

So to be clear each one of these idiots supports the idea of teaching superstitious children's stories alongside science in a school classroom.

There is NO evidence to support Creationism, and NO reputable scientist who would advocate that it be taught, and yet because of the ignorance of their constituents, one of these anti-intellectual dipshits will be nominated for the position of Lt. Governor while espousing this nonsense.

Now do you see why Wendy Davis needs to be the next governor of Texas?

Mitt Romney planning to "help" Republican candidates in 2014. Is it too early to send him a thank you card?

Courtesy of TPM:

As a first step, the former Republican presidential nominee plans to welcome 200 friends and supporters to a three-day summit next week that he will host at a Utah mountain resort.

He is considering writing a book and a series of opinion pieces, and has plans to campaign for 2014 candidates. But he is wary of overdoing it. "I'm not going to be bothering the airwaves with a constant series of speeches," he told The Wall Street Journal, speaking from his home in La Jolla, Calif.

No no, I disagree. There is no such thing as "overdoing it."

Really the more Mitt the better in my opinion.

He should appear in campaign commercials, make appearances with as many candidates as possible, and perhaps even advise them on how to connect with the common man. (He was SO good at that!)

In fact this COULD be the Dem...Republican's secret weapon for 2014.

If you think that either Marco Rubio or Jeb Bush are the GOP answer to Hillary Clinton in 2016, you might want to run that by Florida first. Also some bad news about Ashley Judd.

Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush for 2016? Yeah, that's cute.
Courtesy of Public Policy Polling:

Raleigh, N.C. – Hillary Clinton now leads Florida’s own Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio by double-digit margins in 2016 presidential match-ups as her popularity continues to climb in the state, according to PPP’s latest poll. Clinton leads Bush by 13 points (53/40), Paul Ryan by 13 points (54/41) and Rubio by 16 points (56/40).

This is a significant gain from January, when Clinton led Bush by 5 points and Rubio by 4 points. Clinton now claims 20-24% of the Republican vote and 55-58% of the independent vote against each of her potential Republican opponents. Her favorability has jumped to +19 (56/37) from an 11-point spread (52/41) two months ago.

As you know Jeb Bush was a pretty popular governor of Florida, being the first Republican to win two terms, and Marco Rubio is one of their two current Senators, so if THEY cannot put a dent in the Clinton political lead that certainly does not bode well for the rest of the party.

And just think that is a gain of almost ten points in only two months. Imagine how much larger the split will be by 2016?

Look, I'm NOT saying that a Clinton victory in 2016 is a sure thing. I am just saying that if you look up the word "Juggernaut" there is a picture of her next to it to help illustrate it.

However, and I say this with a heavy heart, along with this good news is some truly upsetting news concerning 2014.

Oh that is just depressing.

I wonder if Bill Clinton got to her?

How to tell that the Republicans are really hitting rock bottom. Update!

"Hah! I knew eventually you'd come crawling back!"
Courtesy of Charlotte Allen as posted in the LA Times:

The Republican Party has been doing a lot of hand-wringing and finger-pointing since the presidential election. Half the conservative columnists and bloggers say the GOP lost because it overemphasized social issues such as abortion and gay marriage. The other half says the party didn't emphasize them enough. And everyone denounces Project ORCA, the campaign's attempt to turn out voters via technology.

But I've got a suggestion for cutting short the GOP angst: Sarah Palin for president in 2016.

You think I'm joking? Think again.

No as it turns out Ms. Allen is NOT joking.

Crazy? Definitely. Joking? Not so much.

She continues on:

Palin can more than keep up with the Democrats in appealing to voters' emotions. Hardly anyone could be more blue collar than Palin, out on the fishing boat with her hunky blue-collar husband, Todd. Palin is "View"-ready, she's "Ellen"-ready, she's Kelly-and-Michael-ready. A Palin "war against women"? Hah! Not only is she a woman, she's got a single-mom daughter, Bristol, to help with the swelling single-mom demographic. On social issues, Palin, unlike Romney, has been absolutely consistent. And let's remember that most Americans, whatever their view of choice, disapprove of most abortions.

Gay marriage? Palin opposes it. But she is also a strong advocate of states' rights, and I'm betting she'd be fine with letting states and their voters grapple with the issue on their own. Remember that all of America didn't swing toward approval of gay marriage on Nov. 6. Three reliably blue states and their voters did. If she were smart, Palin would recruit a member of her impressive gay fanboy base — yes, she has one — to help run her campaign. I nominate Kevin DuJan of the widely read gay conservative blog HillBuzz, a Palin stalwart since 2008.

Palin's son Track is an Iraq war veteran, so she can be proudly patriotic without being labeled another George W. Bush, looking to do aggressive nation-building. She seems aware there is only one nation in need of building right now: America.

Furthermore, looks count in politics, and Palin at age 48, has it all over her possible competition, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, who will be 69 by election day 2016 and who let someone talk her into adopting the flowing blond locks of a college student, making her look like Brunnhilde in a small-town Wagner production. Men love Sarah Palin, and she loves men.

Oh yeah, she's a beauty all right.

I'm sorry I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Has this woman ever even WATCHED Sarah Palin give an interview? Or seen her lately? Or REALLY given this argument any thought whatsoever?

Literally EVERYTHING she says to describe Palin is complete mooseshit. In fact the very mooseshit that the Grizzled Mama failed to sell to the American people in 2008.

You know when they rejected her, and that old fossil she was running with.  Since then she has been relegated to nothing more than the punchline for late night comedians and a oft repeated cautionary tale for budding politicians for wannabe vice presidential nominees.

But wait, it gets better. Look how the author ended her lunatic argument.

Sarah Palin is the new Ronald Reagan: charming and affable and unwilling to back down if she's right. I can't see what's wrong with that.

I was actually almost convinced that this MUST be a parody, but nope, the idiot is dead serious.

As literally insane as it appears to be, the Republican party is so beyond damaged, that there are some within its ranks that would actually consider resurrecting the Wasilla Banshee from the ashes and trotting her out as the 2016 Republican nominee.

And to that all I have to say is, "Oh please, please, please do that!" Just the IDEA of Sarah Palin facing off against Hillary Clinton makes my little blogging nipples hard.

And THIS time I will make damn sure that reporters get all of the information they need to prove that this nutjob faked that last pregnancy if I have to kidnap the witnesses and MAKE them confess all they know to the under threat of serious bodily injury. Though to be honest, I am pretty sure that IF the GOP ever really got this desperate I would not have to even reach out to the people in the know. In fact THEY would be breaking down MY door.

P.S. By the way, if you are of a mind to do so, you can e-mail Ms. Allen here and tell her EXACTLY how painfully incorrect she is about the Lunatic from Lake Lucille. Or if you would rather, encourage her in this endeavor until it blows up in her face. Your choice.

Update: As you might expect the Sea O'Pee is ALL OVER this.

Saturday, July 02, 2011

What makes you think that Michele Bachmann is trying to steal Sarah Palin's mojo? I mean besides everything?

The idea that Michele Bachmann is ACTIVELY trying to supplant the Grizzled Mama in Teabagger hearts is simply ridiculous.  Bachmann even said so herself a  few days ago.

"They want to see two girls come together and have a mud wrestling fight, and I am not going to give that to them," Bachmann told a voter Wednesday who asked about her relationship with the former Alaska governor.

See media? No mud wrestling! (Even though from a purely male perspective that would be pretty AWESOME! Sorry, had a little testosterone surge there.)

So get over it media.  Just because they sound alike, screw up historical facts alike, and dress alike,

sometimes exactly alike, it does NOT mean that Michele is trying to rip Sarah Palin off.

So just relax and enjoy watching Bachmann launch her Presidential campaign with her bus tour, and....

what?

Oh come on!  ALL candidates have a bus that they ride around on to meet the voters.  Why must we compare Bachmann's bus to....

Wow, they are similar aren't they? Are those even different buses, or did she actually steal Palin's bus and repaint it?

Well forget about the buses, because beyond that they have very little in common. And I am sure that most political observers would agree with me on that.

I'm sorry Sarah Jones, of Politicususa, what is that you are saying?

Both Bachmann and Palin are GOP puppets; religious extremists dressed up, puffed up and pushed out, sold to the highest bidder to put a pretty face on ugly ideas. Both women seem nice enough from afar, both are ostensibly good mothers from afar, both are absolutely hypocritical on almost every issue they purport to stand for and too ignorant to know it. Both are wildly over-confident, in the way that can only come from a small mind that cannot conceive of larger issues beyond the self-aggrandizing, unregulated id that drives them.

Both women bring out the worst in our culture. Both appeal to the lurking sexism, hooking it with a wink and bringing all women down into the mud with them if we dare call them out on it. Yes, if we dare say a word, we are then labeled ugly haters or “fat”. It’s as if we are back in Junior High, only I never knew anyone so shameless and tawdry as either of these two women in Junior High. It offends me to even address their vulgar cries for attention via their sexuality.

Oookay, well perhaps I misspoke.

Fine, I guess Bristol IS right for once and Bachmann is copying her mother (And doing it better by the way), but SURELY Sarah Palin is a big enough person to let it slide and simply enjoy what she has going for her.

You know like Bristol's very successful book tour.  Oh that's right.

Well how about her new film?  It's not like her supporters have to fake attendance numbers in order to make it seem more pop...oooh that's going to leave a mark.

Okay well Sarah Palin has "tough skin" so I imagine like any Mama Grizzly whose life is in the shitter she is taking all of this in stride, right?

Did anybody else just lose the feeling in their testicles? (Look away, Gryphen, look away!)
