Fact Check.org releases final numbers on Obama's presidency.

The numbers are nearly all in now. What they show about what really happened during the eight years that Barack Obama was president is sometimes different from what politicians claimed. 

• The economy gained a net 11.5 million jobs. The unemployment rate dropped to below the historical norm. 
• Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 4.1 percent after inflation. The gain was 3.7 percent for just production and nonsupervisory employees. 
• After-tax corporate profits also set records, as did stock prices. The S&P 500 index rose 166 percent. 
• The number of people lacking health insurance dropped by 15 million. Premiums rose, but more slowly than before. 
• The federal debt owed to the public rose 128 percent. Deficits were rising as Obama departed. 
• Home prices rose 20 percent. But the home ownership rate hit the lowest point in half a century. 
• Illegal immigration declined: The Border Patrol caught 35 percent fewer people trying to get into the U.S. from Mexico. 
• Wind and solar power increased 369 percent. Coal production declined 38 percent. Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuel dropped 11 percent. 
• Production of handguns rose 192 percent, to a record level. 
• The murder rate dropped to the lowest on record in 2014, then rose and finished at about the same rate as when Obama took office.

 Overall those are pretty damn good numbers. 

Critics of the President can complain that the numbers could be better, and that opportunities were missed, but they have to be reminded that everything the President accomplished he did with the Republicans attempting to obstruct him every step of the way.

I can hardly wait to compare this to the final numbers on the Trump presidency.

President Obama, the best thing for gun sales since the invention of bullets.

The NRA has been using fear of Obama taking away guns since even before he took office.

Perhaps that's why there have been over 100 million guns sold since he entered the White House.

And we wonder why there are so many mass shootings.

The line was out the door at a San Bernardino, California, gun shop Sunday morning, just one mile down the road from the Inland Regional Center, where two armed shooters shot dozens of San Bernardino County employees. 

Several shoppers spoke to ABC News on their way into Turner's Outdoorsman, including Ben Reynolds, of Runyon Springs, California, who said he was there buying his first weapon. 

"It hit a little close to home," he said. "It can happen anywhere, and this just shows it." 

Reynolds said he would consider buying an assault rifle.

 Another man told ABC News he was thinking about buying one for "protection -- that's it." He said he was concerned about people invading his home. 

Buster Mitchell, who lives 12 miles away from the Inland Regional Center, said the shooting was "too close to home." Mitchell owns seven guns and said he was at the gun shop for supplies.

This is why the NRA fucking LOVES mass shootings.

Because while most Americans are horrified by the shootings and believe that there are WAY too many guns in this country, there is a certain demographic convinced that all they need to do in order to ensure their safety is buy one more gun.

The FBI runs background checks before customers can purchase a gun, and according to a report from the FBI, the week following the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012 was the busiest week ever. 

Upticks were also reported after the 2011 Tuscon shooting and the Charleston church shooting earlier this year.

We are a truly ignorant people. 

Good news for Missouri gun store owners, as a result of police clashing with protestors in Ferguson gun sales have quadrupled. Well of course they have.

Gun sales are up across St. Louis since the shooting of Michael Brown and subsequent nights of violence. 

Sales have quadrupled at ‘Metro Shooting’ in Bridgeton according to owner Steven King. He says sales have mainly been to men, but not all: 

“Probably a dozen or two dozen guns to females, single mothers. We’ve sold to black people, white people. We’ve sold to asians who have businesses on West Florissant.” said King. “They’re just afraid of whats going on and they’re coming in to purchase either additional firearms or their first firearm.” 

King says he’s personally seen the fear in their eyes and feels the sorrow in their hearts. King says he’s not raised prices but he knows that some are raiding their savings accounts, feeling that having a gun is that important. 

He says nearly 100 percent say they are buying them for defensive purposes. “They’re buying AR-15s, home defense shotguns, handguns, personal defense handguns something for conceal carry.” said King.

This is why the NRA loves violent situations like this.

The more frightened people are, the more likely they are to turn to firearms to help them to feel safe.

Every movie and TV show we see demonstrates the ability of a gun to immediately solve just about ANY conflict.

However the sad truth is that the more firearms there are in a community the more likely that someone innocent will be shot. And considering that this whole thing is the result of an innocent unarmed man being killed by law enforcement bullets, it will only increase the sense of tragedy for more deaths to occur as the result of bullets fired in anger or fear in response to that death.

Not only that but all of these firearms then feeds into law enforcement's fear of being outgunned, which inspires them to purchase armored vehicles, military style flak jackets, and assault weapons, which emboldens them to act as an invading force rather than peace keepers, and the chain reaction continues while weapons manufacturers and military suppliers rake in the profits.

Smith and Wesson gun sales down dramatically. Finally some good news about guns.

Gunmaker Smith & Wesson is down big after last night saying its sales in the upcoming year will decline. 

In morning trade, shares are down nearly 10%. 

For its fiscal year 2015, the company said sales are expected to be between $585 million and $600 million. Analysts were expecting sales of more than $620 million. 

At first I thought perhaps this was because Smith and Wesson did not make military style weapons, because you know I don't really know much about gun manufacturing.

But as it turns out they do, so that cannot be the reason.

So hey maybe people are starting to recognize that owning guns rarely keeps people safe, but instead significantly contributes to accidental deaths and suicides?

That would seem to the be case laid out by a CNN report from 2012, where it was determined that there are fewer gun owners, yet they tend to own numerous guns:

A decreasing number of American gun owners own two-thirds of the nation's guns and as many as one-third of the guns on the planet -- even though they account for less than 1% of the world's population, according to a CNN analysis of gun ownership data. 

Which kind of makes me wonder if these recent Open Carry protests are contributing to the diminishing number of Americans interested in owning weapons since gun owners are increasingly seen as frightened, insecure, man children walking around with visible penile substitutes in a desperate attempt to seem masculine?

Well that's my theory at least.
