Hillary Clinton will receive an award for her work in protecting and advancing humanitarian rights across the globe at a Swansea University ceremony on October 14.
The former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic candidate is being celebrated by the Welsh university, which says "her cause is shared" by its Observatory on the Human Rights of Children and Young People. Clinton will receive an honorary doctorate, and is expected to deliver a speech on humanitarian issues during the event.
Clinton is a figure of "enormous international significance and one synonymous with human rights," the university’s Vice Chancellor professor Richard Davies told the BBC on Friday. "It is tremendous that she has chosen Swansea University for her first public appearance on this visit to the UK."
The contrast is almost stunning.
Here is the woman who inspired chants of "Lock her up," receiving an award for being a humanitarian, while the guy Putin helped win the election, blames American citizens for being "lazy" and allowing themselves to be devastated by a hurricane.
It will probably depress you to do so, but just imagine what the response to the crisis in Puerto Rico, and the potential conflict with North Korea, would have been with Hillary Clinton in charge of the country.
And then just imagine how much easier it would be for you to sleep at night.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Sarah Palin, and her cub Bristol, pimping a Fox News exploitation piece while doubling down on calls for a religious war with Islam.
This from Joan of the Arctic's Facebook page:
Be sure to tune in tomorrow at 7pm ET to FOX for Greta's special on the persecution of Christians around the globe.
She then links to Bristol's ghostwritten blog, which in turn posts a video of Greta Van Susteren promoting the Christians Under Attack special appearing on Fox tonight. (Palin also posted a video previously
Of course as we know Christians are certainly being brutalized in Iraq by the ISIL, however they are far from the only group that is being targeted and in fact they are not the ones being targeted the most aggressively.
As I wrote last Saturday, the Iraqi people under attack include not just the Christians, but the Yazidi, Turkmen, Shaback, and Kurds.
As it turns out the Yazidi were the group most in danger and the Obama administration reached out to protect them and it appears that may have been successful.
However both the Palins and Fox News seem to be actively ignoring the fact that this ISIL group is going after all kinds of groups that it finds offensive to its political and religious beliefs, and are instead focusing on the Christians in an attempt to fan Islamophobia in this country.
This is an incredibly divisive and potentially dangerous tactic as it encourages people in America to think of the conflict in Iraq not as genocide, but instead as a religious conflict in which they have a vested interest because it involves "their" religious brothers and sisters.
I swear Sarah Palin and Fox News will not be happy until American forces show up in force on Iraqi soil to beat the infidels to death with steel covered Bibles while yelling at them to repent their sins and accept Jesus as their Lord and savior.
P.S. By the way Brancy offered up a way for people to help stop the "Christian massacre in Iraq," which included prayer, giving money to a religious organization, and signing a petition started by a Christian organization.
So in other words you can help by doing everything you can think of that falls short of actual help.

Joan Rivers has absolutely NO sympathy for the Palestinian people.
Courtesy of Alternet:
Joan Rivers is known for her scathing sharp tongue, and yet her take on the Isaeli-Gaza crisis is one of her most controversial views to date. When told by a TMZ reporter than almost 2,000 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict, she raised her hands in mock shock.
“Oh my God! Tell that to the people in Hiroshima,” she says. “Good. Good. When you declare war, you declare war. They started it. We now don't count who's dead. You're dead, you deserve to be dead. Don’t you dare make me feel bad about that.”
“They were told to get out. They didn’t get out. You don’t get out, you are an idiot. At least the ones that were killed were the ones with low IQs.”
She goes onto describe Gaza’s Hamas government as “terrorists.”
“They were re-elected by a lot of very stupid people who don’t even own a pencil,” she said.
Later Rivers tried to suggest that this was taken out of context.
However TMZ has the footage and it is clear that the context was that Rivers despises the Palestinian people.
Rivers also issued this statement on Facebook:
“I am both saddened and disappointed that my statement about the tragedy of civilian casualties was totally taken out of context. What I said and stand behind is, war is hell and unfortunately civilians are victims of political conflicts. We, The United States, certainly know this as 69 years later we still feel the guilt of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The media, as usual, has decided to only quote the most out of context and inflammatory non sequitur rather than giving an accurate account of what my intentions were behind the statement. Along with every other sane person in this world, I am praying for peace. It is stupid and wrong and I am tired of bearing the brunt of attacks by people who want to sell newspapers or gain ratings by creating a scandal about me that is non-existent.”
You know while it is hard to have too much sympathy for either the Palestinians or Israelis in this conflict, since the conflict seems to be based mostly on religious differences and therefore completely ridiculous in my eyes, you still, as a human being, have to have compassion for the thousands of dead who did nothing wrong except be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
As for what started this conflict the answer to that goes back well over a hundred years, but establishing a Jewish state right in the middle of what had traditionally been a predominantly Muslim area certainly did not help matters.
I think Rivers reaction is shameful and demonstrates a lack of empathy for a people who feel bullied and displaced by the Israelis.
And I find it reprehensible that Sarah Palin, in her bid to associate herself with more mainstream celebrities, supported Rivers earlier rant against the Palestinians.

Just for the sake of comparisons take a look at what a REAL humanitarian trip to Haiti looks like.
Michelle Obama in Haiti from The White House on Vimeo.
And remember THIS was eight months ago. Undoubtedly well before the Grizzled Mama realized she could use the disaster and the suffering people as a back drop to soften her image and attempt to make herself appear to actually have compassion.
Also take note of how comfortable and accessible Michelle Obama is with this community. She obviously feels connected to the people in a way that Palin obviously did not. And NO it has NOTHING to do with skin color.
