Countdown has more about Rep. Darryl Issa, the new millenium's own Joseph McCarthy.

As if that was not damning enough. and by the way I think it is, SFGate has this amazing story of Issa's outright lies about working for President Nixon's security staff.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Darrell Issa says that during the Vietnam War he served with an elite Army bomb unit, traveling with then-President Richard Nixon to protect him from harm.

He attended baseball's World Series in 1971 as part of the president's security entourage, Issa once told an interviewer.

But military records obtained by The Examiner and interviews with former soldiers cast doubt on the stories the millionaire executive-turned-politician tells about his Army days.

The records show that Issa's service on what he terms an

"Army security team" amounted to less than six months on a bomb-disposal squad in 1971. That's scant experience to qualify him for presidential security duty, former GI bomb experts say.

Issa couldn't have guarded Nixon at the World Series because the president didn't attend, according to the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda.

Methinks that if Rep. Issa is REALLY interested in launching an investigation against a dishonest politician he might want to start by confronting the man looking back at him from his bathroom mirror.

Steve King is the new McCarthy. He wants hearings on the radicalization of Muslims.

So, what's new? Another mentally deranged unqualified narcissistic Republican.

Just 'cause someone wears a suit doesn't mean they're worthy of attention.

    How'd this guy get elected?

Why must these people always present their rather meager accomplishments as "elite" and special?

Wouldn't just serving in the military be good enough? Isn't that in itself worthy of respect?

For people who claim to hate "elitists", they sure seem to have some powerful envy going on.

And how do they all get to be millionaires?

"The Narcissist's Way"---I can see the bestselling book now (and of course it would have to be a "bestseller".....)

Heck, the right vilified the kind of mustard Obama used, I'm sure they'll find some stupid thing to go crazy over. What will it be this time, the type of soda he drinks? OMG, Impeach, impeach! LOL.

Let them do their little witch hunt, and while they are at it -- dig up thousands of things on Bush and Cheney that Obama was nice enough to leave alone. If you are going to do investigations, it should be done on both administrations!!

Top GOP oversight official California Rep. Darrell Issa resent dozens of letters to the Obama administration over the holidays that received no answer when he sent them the first time as a member of the Republican minority in the House.

The letters cover scores of topics and form a kind of oversight backlog looming over the Obama administration even as the early action in public will come in the form of congressional hearings.

Though many of these letters were ignored over the last two years, the Obama administration will face a new urgency in responding to the missives now that Issa has subpoena power to compel documents and testimony related to the inquiries.

On Election Night, Issa said getting answers to the letters was his “first and foremost” priority. Now, his office is keeping quiet about the letters in an effort not to further antagonize the president, who is mobilizing for war with Issa.

Gryphen: It's not surprising that Issa has skeletons in his closet. I hope the press will investigate him and expose him for the fraud he is.

Why worry? Issa is just another in a long line of republican liars and cheaters. In the end, he will get his due.

HE should be investigated for abuse of power. You can't use your post as a committee chair to simply go on a witch hunt to embarrass the president and further the interests of your corporate slave masters. He's clearly abusing his power.

  9. Magnum P-Issa tm The Daily Show. Sounds like Joe Miller 2.0 to me. I remember the McCarthy years, although I was very young. My parents were appalled by McCarthy and thought he was the devil incarnate. I hope that there is an Edward R. Murrow out there to expose this guy.

It's Darrell, doll, although you probably ought to use the Darryl in the keywords.

And according to his now expunged Wikipedia page wasn't he stealing a car in 1971 out of Pittsburgh??

This guy's history and his astonishing willingness to lie when his untruths can clearly be refuted, strongly suggests he's a card-carrying sociopath. A sociopath with subpoena power should scare everyone.

  12. Elections have consequences, yes indeed. Now that Sister Sarah seems to be quieter, we still won't lack for things to go after, will we. I suspect we are going to be very, very busy.

The car alarm salesman makes excuses for his accusation on the Rush Limbaugh show where he called President Obama "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times."

The richest man in the Congress of the United States of America thinks everyone is as stupid as the people who vote for him.

That is because this Republican from California who just happens to chair the House Oversight Committee does not understand the meaning of the meaning of the word corrupt as applied to government.

Speaking to CNN's Chief National Correspondent John King Wednesday, Issa offered his definition of the word "corrupt":

"I think people misunderstand the meaning of the word corrupt, and obviously, CNN does. 'Corrupt', or 'corrupted' or 'failure', it's no different than a disc drive that's given you some bits that are wrong," Issa said on CNN.

Issa continued, "I have never said it's illegal. I've never made any of the statements that are often said on CNN that implied wrong-doing of the president at a criminal level
, but I do believe that the American people have changed the control of the House in no small part because they saw more regulation, more misspending than they ever dreamed possible and they need Republicans to be part of the balance to bring that back under control."

Watch the John King interview on CNN.

All you need to know. Making Sh#t up as he goes along. Could it be that the car alarm salesman really thinks this- or does he just think he can get away with saying it?

  15. Isn't there some federal law.."stolen valor" of something like that about claiming false military service, medals, etc.? If so, isn't this lidkspittle violating the law. I actually served in the military during the Vietnam conflict...I didn't serve in any special ultra secret masturbating position...or did I? Maybe I'm a hero and didn't know it.

Those laws were passed because of guys like this.

You could make up sh#t like that, put it on a cardboard sign to panhandle and GET YOUR AS# thrown in jail.

But if you are a rich republican- then itsa little different.
