ABC News has learned Martin’s family will soon be notified that the Justice Department will not be filing charges against George Zimmerman, who shot the 17-year-old after a confrontation in 2012. Thursday marks three years to the day since Martin was killed.
Federal prosecutors concluded there is not sufficient evidence to prove Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman in Sanford, Fla., intentionally violated Martin’s civil rights, sources told ABC News.
I have to admit that I am somewhat surprised at this.
He stalked that unarmed young man for no reason, and then shot him to death.
I just don't understand how it is possible to walk away scott free from something like that.
And it pisses me the fuck off.

ReplyDeleteZimmerman will be back in the news. He will end up killing someone before he is done, and thinking he is bulletproof.
ReplyDeleteI can see how it's difficult to prosecute - Zimmerman killed the only witness.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to think how different the outcome would have surely have been if you put a cop in Treyvon Martin's position. After Zimmerman followed him down the street in his car (deliberately menacing him), got out of the car and probably made a show of putting his gun in the back of his pants to project a threat, and then started across the street toward a cop, how far do you think Zimmerman would have gotten before he was face down in the street (voluntarily or involuntarily) because the cop defended himself against someone who intentionally projected a threat? Instead, we have the result where the aggressor claims self-defense because of an abhorrent piece of legislation.
WTH?! 911 told him to stay in his vehicle, which he did not, and, yes, he stalked him. What a crock!
ReplyDelete911 is not an order from a policeman. Trayvon also should not have jumped Zimmerman and start beating on him. That should definitely have never happened, he got himself killed with his physical assault.
DeleteThe only "evidence" that Trayvon was beating on Zimmerman comes from Zimmerman himself, in other words, most likely a lie. That picture with the tiny cut on his head? If a young man Trayvon's size was truly beating your head against the concrete, you'd have massive cuts & bleeding.
DeleteThis part of the story infuriates me more than almost any other - Zimmerman stalked & killed a teenager, then lied & lied some more, the media joined in & defamed Trayvon's name & put down his family. And Z got away with it.
Only in America can you be put on trial for your own murder.
3:09...... uh, guess you are conveniently 'forgetting' the eyewitness testimony, the eyewitness who testified that he witnessed Martin straddled on top of Zimmerman pounding blows on Zimmerman as Zimmerman yelled for help.
DeleteNice try with your story re-write and lies, no worries though I will set you straight.
The other "eyewitness" was Zimmerman's poker buddy; because of the lack of proper police procedure in not arresting Zimmerman right away, they were able to get together & come up with a story.
DeleteAnd, even if Trayvon was fighting back, why shouldn't he? He was followed & harassed by some creepy older man, I'd be scared & combative too.
Also, why are you so invested in Z's story? From his behavior before & after his murder of Trayvon Martin, he is a violent, lying POS. What about that attracts you to defending him?
Uh huh cckids. So to be clear, now you admit that there was eyewitness testimony evidence, where previously you denied it. And the rest is conjecture and imagination. Thank you, no more questions at this time your honor.
DeleteThey keep pushing the narrative that he was a neighborhood watchman the same way they refer to Sarah Palin as a Governor, it perpetuates a sense of legitimacy that isn't there and never should have been.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a federal crime to stalk an unarmed young man for no reason, and then shoot him to death. It's a state crime, but not a federal crime. PRoving the necessary racial elements is difficult. I can't imagine Eric Holder easily let this slip by if there was a good case. Lucy
ReplyDeleteThis. The only federal crime Z could have been charged with was violating Trayvon's civil rights; they'd have to prove that he killed the boy JUST because he was black. With no witnesses, close to impossible to prove.
Deletecckids- You still have it wrong, there is/was witness testimony. You have it wrong buddy.
DeleteWhy should insufficient evidence keep him out of the big house? It doesn't seem fair.
ReplyDelete"I just don't understand"
ReplyDeleteThat is correct, you don't understand. Zimmerman may not be likeable, but he broke no laws. Two morons crossed paths and this was the result. It should have never taken the justice department this long to come to this conclusion.
Justice for Zimmerman should never have taken this long. The fact that the Justice Department took this long only shows they were on a political fishing expedition at Zimmermans expense. Instead of lamenting about it, Holder should be saying under no uncertain terms, Zimmerman has not commited any crimes and justice has been served.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Zimmerman is a piece of work. He will continue to cause trouble and one day someone will pull a gun out and pop him. He deserves it too. One day George Zimmerman, Karma will kick you hard and you will fall for the evil that you've done.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Eventually, Zimmerman will bully the wrong person and they will kill him. No one will care that Zimmerman is dead, unlike Martin, whom many mourned for.
DeleteI think that unlikely. Like an earlier poster on this thread, I am more afraid that Zimmerman will kill someone else. I also fear that he is involved with domestic violence.
DeleteI'm still pissed off that OJ got off. But some times you have to let it go.
ReplyDeleteBack when this first happened, there was an attempt to get the DOJ involved and charge Z with a hate crime. Many commentators said at the time that it is very difficult to prosecute this kind of crime. The evidence standards are quite high. Most of the lawyer pundits said that the investigation by the DOJ would be fruitless, so this conclusion was expected. It's terrible, unfair that this child was murdered for no reason and the killer got off. There are a lot of problems in our criminal justice system, and this case illustrates a bunch of them. Adding the fact that this took place in Florida where racism is part of the culture, we can't really be surprised by this outcome.
ReplyDeleteI stand by the Martin family and wish them solace in their grief.
