So is Bill O'Reilly simply on vacation while his advertisers run like rats from a sinking ship, or is he on his way out at Fox News?

Courtesy of New York Magazine:

Lawyers for the law firm Paul, Weiss, hired last summer by 21st Century Fox to investigate Roger Ailes, are currently doing a “deep dive” investigation into O’Reilly’s behavior. They’re focused now on sexual harassment claims by O’Reilly guest Wendy Walsh after she reported her claims via the company’s anonymous hotline.

Fox News co-president Bill Shine has been working hard to keep O’Reilly, sources said. But O’Reilly’s future is in the hands of the Murdochs. “It’s up to the family,” the senior Fox News staffer said. The Murdochs are presently divided over how to handle it. Two highly placed Fox News sources say 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch would like O’Reilly to be permanently taken off the air, while his father, Rupert, and older brother, Lachlan, are more inclined to keep him. (A spokesperson for the Murdochs declined to comment.)

That dynamic — James pushing for swift action, while Rupert resists — played out last summer in the Ailes scandal. James, of course, got his way with Ailes. With more than three dozen advertisers boycotting O’Reilly, Fox staffers speculate the same may happen to O’Reilly, perhaps as early as during his vacation. “The assumption is that he’ll exit in a non-embarrassing way,” one senior Fox News staffer told me.

Wow! Wouldn't that be something, first Roger Ailes and now Bill O'Reilly?

Could this be the end of Fox News as we know it?

Damn, I certainly hope so.

Vladimir Putin rides to his Donald Trump's defense. Nope, nothing telling about this.

Courtesy of the AP:

In a biting attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday accused the outgoing U.S. administration of trying to undermine President-elect Donald Trump by spreading fake allegations and said those who are doing it are "worse than prostitutes."

Asked about an unsubstantiated dossier outlining unverified claims that Trump engaged in sexual activities with prostitutes at a Moscow hotel, Putin dismissed it as "fake" and "nonsense" and said it was part of efforts by Obama's administration to "undermine the legitimacy of the president-elect" despite his "convincing" victory.

"People who order such fakes against the U.S. president-elect, fabricate them and use them in political struggle are worse than prostitutes," Putin said. "They have no moral restrictions whatsoever, and it highlights a significant degree of degradation of political elites in the West, including in the United States."

Putin also mocked the scandalous dossier and pointed out that the visit to Moscow happened in 2013 before Trump was a politician.

"Do they think that our special services are hunting for every U.S. billionaire?"

Yeah actually. In fact we know you are.

Okay this is almost unbelievably tone deaf.

For Putin to launch such a passionate defense of the guy the American intelligence community is suggesting he helped to win the presidency, does nothing to help Trump, and gives critics even more reasons to suspect that Putin is his puppet master.

The National Enquirer claims that Ted Cruz has had five secret mistresses. Seriously? Update!

Courtesy of the National Enquirer:

Presidential candidate Ted Cruz is trying to survive an explosive “dirt file” on the finger-wagging conservative senator!

And the new issue of The National ENQUIRER — on newsstands now — reveals how the reports say the staunch Republican is hiding FIVE different mistresses!

“Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider.

“The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!”

The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!

This story was quickly picked up other news outlets, mostly conservative, who started filling in the pieces.

Courtesy of the Conservative Treehouse:

Firstly, they post pictures of the collective mistresses. NE would never legally “go there” if they did not hold a very reasonable certainty the outlined players were factually part of the story.

Secondly, there’s at least one face in the group that is easily identifiable.

When you accept the NE editorial/legal requirement for research and attributed comment prior to publication, you recognize there is more than a strong probability each of the outlined group (pictured) was contacted prior to publication; and one of those is very close to the Donald Trump campaign. Ergo, it’s entirely likely presidential candidate Donald Trump knew this story was coming out.

Then there was this tweet from a Washington Times columnist:
Personally I am not at all surprised that slimy Ted Cruz is a hypocrite who cheats on his wife, I am only surprised that there are five other women in the world who can look at that face and not vomit all over themselves.

And just when you thought this 2016 campaign could not get any sleazier.

P.S. By the way the scandal already has its own hashtag.  Of course.

Update: Ted Cruz calls the Enquirer story "garbage."

I want to be crystal clear: these attacks are garbage. For Donald J. Trump to enlist his friends at the National...
Posted by Ted Cruz on Friday, March 25, 2016
But then again how would we expect him to respond?

In other news a Trump supporter confronted one of the women named, Amanda Carpenter, during a CNN broadcast.

I have no idea of this report is factual or not, but the real story here is that this is how Donald Trump engages in politics, and I will assume that he will continue in this vein well into the general election, if the Republicans don't have him taken out first.

Update 2: Donald Trump responds to the Ted Cruz mistress:

I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it.

Likewise, I have nothing to do with the National Enquirer and unlike Lyin’ Ted Cruz I do not surround myself with political hacks and henchman and then pretend total innocence. Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O.J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz.

I look forward to spending the week in Wisconsin, winning the Republican nomination and ultimately the Presidency in order to Make America Great Again.

- Donald J. Trump

Did you catch the part about the National Enquirer's past track record on stories of this type?

So subtle.

Apparently in Michigan if you are a family values politician who tries to cover up the affair that you're having with a female colleague by spreading gossip that you were caught having sex with a male prostitute, you can lose your job. Who knew?

Courtesy of Michigan Live:

Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat, embattled lawmakers accused of misconduct and misusing taxpayer resources to hide their extra-marital affair, are no longer representatives in the Michigan House.

Courser, R-Lapeer, resigned at 3:12 a.m. on Friday as the House prepared for a third vote on a resolution to expel him from office.

One hour later, the House voted 91-12 to expel Gamrat, R-Plainwell, making her just the fourth lawmaker ever to be removed from the Michigan Legislature by her peers.

Gamrat was immediately escorted from the chambers, and then the state Capitol, by House sergeants. She declined to speak with the media.

Courser, who spoke with reporters after turning in his resignation letter to the House clerk and walking off the floor, said it simply felt like the appropriate moment to step down. He was convinced the GOP majority was going to find enough Democratic votes to expel him.

As I am sure many of you remember Courser planned to inoculate himself against charges that he was banging his fellow legislator by launching a smear campaign against himself which would accuse him of having been caught having sex with a male prostitute.

Which kind of sounds more like an episode of Alpha House than it does an actual plan in the real world.

Unfortunately for Courser he was caught on tape making those plans for the smear campaign, and that was essentially that.

And of course the cherry on top is that both Garner and Courser were holier than thou Christian moralists who were adamantly against gay marriage,

Which has now become the easiest to spot plot twist ever.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar to appear on Fox News next week to discuss their son's sex scandal.

This courtesy of the Duggar Family website:

Next week we will sit down with Megyn Kelly on Fox News to share our hearts with you about the pain that we walked through as a family twelve years ago, the tears we all shed and the forgiveness that was given. We appreciate the outpouring of love and prayers for our family at this time.

 -Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar

Gee Fox News, what a surprise.

Made even less surprising by the fact that Fox News has all but ignored the scandal, allotting it less than two minutes of air time.

Perhaps the first question Megyn Kelly will ask is; "What? There's a scandal?"

Speaking of conservative icons General Petraeus may face felony charges.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors have recommended bringing felony charges against David H. Petraeus, contending that he provided classified information to a lover while he was director of the C.I.A., officials said, and leaving Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to decide whether to seek an indictment that could send the pre-eminent military officer of his generation to prison.

The Justice Department investigation stems from an affair Mr. Petraeus had with Paula Broadwell, an Army Reserve officer who was writing his biography, and focuses on whether he gave her access to his C.I.A. email account and other highly classified information.

F.B.I. agents discovered classified documents on her computer after Mr. Petraeus resigned from the C.I.A. in 2012 when the affair became public.

General Petraeus was actually well respected by both sides of the aisle. However it was the conservatives who started promoting the idea that he should run for President.

Of course that was before he kinda endorsed Hillary Clinton for the job.

Personally I have never been a huge Petrraeus fan, still it is unfortunate to see a man with such a sterling reputation end his career in disgrace.

David Vitter, he of the famous DC Madam prostitution sting fame, wants to run for Governor of Louisiana. Oh yes please.

Courtesy of Mediaite:

Senator David Vitter (R-LA) announced Tuesday morning that he intends to run for governor of Louisiana.

The junior senator from Louisiana, best known for escaping a prostitution scandal by the skin of his teeth in 2007, is angling to replace Bobby Jindal, who is finishing out his second term as governor.

Yes the thing that Vitter is best known for, I would argue the ONLY thing he is known for, is that his phone number was found among the records of the DC Madam, after she was arrested in 2006. Along with descriptions of some of the fetishes enjoyed by her clientele, which included the fact that Vitter liked to be diapered and treated like an infant.

This led to one of the most uncomfortable news conferences in American history, which featured David Vitter to play the victim, while the real victim, his wife Wendy Vitter, stood next to him trying not to look completely horrified.

As you can see she failed.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the DC Madam, later conveniently committed suicide as did at least one of her call girls.

Which I guess means that Vitter does not have to worry about anybody interviewing her and discovering any new embarrassing facts about his perversions that could be used to humiliate him in this latest leg of his political journey.

But have no fear, there are still plenty of us who remember that Vitter is a hypocritical son-of-a-bitch,  who hides behind the Bible and preaches morality, all while engaging in behaviors that would destroy the career of most politicians in this country.

Back on YouTube, Shailey Tripp's very first interview, which was NOT in the National Enquirer.

You know I have great affection for my buddy Dennis Zaki. But sometimes Dennis does things on an impulse which can have unpredictable consequences for others.

About a year ago Dennis called me and said he was done with that bitch, and was going to take everything he had on his YouTube account pertaining to Sarah Palin off.

Since a number of my posts had video that still linked to his site, I freaked out.

Dennis assured me that he would save them for me, and give them to me on a disc. Which he did.

However around this same time period Dennis was helping me to build a new computer.

We installed a disc drive, and it worked fine, right up until I got ready to upload the videos from his disc.  That was the day I found that the disc player would no longer function.

After numerous attempts to fix it, it still remains on the fritz.

In the meantime none of my links to his YouTube videos worked.

Until now.

Now I have the video on a thumb drive and they have been uploaded to MY YouTube account.

So for those of you who have never heard this interview, or have not heard it for a very long time let me present Shailey Tripp in her own words, before she was famous, and before she wrote her book  "Boys Will Be Boys: Media, Morality, and the Coverup of the Todd Palin Shailey Tripp Sex Scandal."

For those who wonder about Shailey's back story here are a few of my posts leading up to this interview.

The beginning.

The Police deny Todd Palin's involvement.

Sarah defends the pimp.

I realize just how important Shailey's story is to the babygate mystery.

And finally the original interview post.

There that should bring you up to speed.

I will probably write other posts while reintroducing you to more lost videos. When know when time allows.

Australia's army chief, Lieutenant General David Morrison's message to soldiers who prey on women in the military, "Get out!" This is a MUST see!

"I will be ruthless in ridding the Army of people who cannot live up to its values." Oh hell yeah!

This is of course in response to an ongoing sex scandal within the Australia military that have been made even worse with reports that some men had recorded sex acts with female soldiers and put them online behind the woman's back.

I love this guy's attitude, and would like to see OUR military take this same kind of no nonsense, fuck you if you don't like it, approach.

Now I usually support Democrats, and Anthony Weiner used to be one of my favorites, but this is a bad idea!

Courtesy of the New York Times:

Saying that he would like, at some point, to “ask people to give me a second chance,” Anthony D. Weiner, the former congressman who resigned in 2011 amid a scandal over his lewd online behavior, is mulling a run for mayor this year because “it’s now or maybe never for me.”

In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, which was posted online Wednesday morning and is to be published in print on Sunday, Mr. Weiner cautioned that he did not know when he would decide about entering the race, and conceded that “the fact that I don’t know tells me I shouldn’t run. Or I should not run now.” He also acknowledged that he would be “the underdog in any race I ran,” citing a poll he commissioned earlier this year to gauge whether voters were prepared to forgive him and take him seriously as a candidate.

Mr. Weiner and his publicity-averse wife, Huma Abedin, sought in the interview to demonstrate that he was a changed and humbled man: a stay-at-home father living in what the magazine writer describes as a “sprawling apartment” on Park Avenue South, far from the Queens and Brooklyn neighborhoods Mr. Weiner represented in the House of Representatives for more than a decade.

“Some people just don’t buy it,” Mr. Weiner said. “Like they just don’t have room for a second narrative about me.”

Oh hell no! Those people are right not to have room for a second narrative.

Like I said, I used to REALLY like this man, and often stood and applauded his aggressiveness in taking on the Republican party, but he needs to stay the hell out of politics.

He just does.

I am beyond impressed that he managed to save his marriage, I have certainly had marriages end for far less than what he did, but he should simply be happy with that and look for another line of work and NOT try to get EVERYTHING back to the way it was when he tweeted his penis.

Once you do something like that, lie about, and then have to admit that every Right Wing rag that called you out for lying were right, the Democratic party just does not have any use for you any more in my opinion.

I mean if he were a Republican like David Vitter, or Larry Craig, or Mark Sanford, or Larry Craig, it might be acceptable. After all being a pervert, a hypocrite, or a habitual liar, is how you get into politics as a Republican.

But not for Democrats, we need to be better than that.

Anybody disagree? Or think I am being too harsh?

Wife of General Petraeus threatens divorce and demands to know how many women there have been. Uh oh!

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

David Petraeus' wife of 38 years has threatened him with divorce after she was left 'humiliated' by his affair with his biographer, it was claimed today.

Holly Petraeus is reportedly 'furious' about the affair, which forced her husband to resign from the top of the CIA ten days ago, and is demanding to know how many other women he has shared trysts with throughout their marriage.

'She can't turn on a television, go online or open a newspaper without being bombarded by the latest revelations about his cheating,' a source told the National Enquirer. 'No wonder she's angry.

'David has been falling all over himself, apologising and begging Holly to forgive him, but she isn't listening. After all his lies, she doesn't believe anything he says anymore, and she's thinking about consulting a divorce attorney.'

The source claimed Holly has suspicions that her husband had an affair with Jill Kelley, the Florida socialite who sparked his downfall after tipping off the FBI about threatening emails from Broadwell.

While Petraeus denies they have ever been involved, Holly is uncertain and keeps demanding to know how many other women he has cheated on her with, the source said.

Wow, and I bet that General Petraeus thought his troubles were almost over after testifying about the Benghazi thing.  I imagine after his wife gets finished with him he will wish he were standing before Congress spilling his guts, or perhaps even on the front line dodging bullets.

You know I am a guy and should probably show solidarity with my gender, but I just have to say that from what I know about guys in general, and guys in power specifically, if there was one affair there were probably more. In other words Holly Petraeus has every right to be suspicious and to not take her husband at his word.

I will probably lose my Men's Club super masculine decoder ring for saying that, but there you have it.

By the way I have a feeling that this story is far, far from over, and have to wonder just what new revelations will be coming down the pike.

Republican hypocrisy.

But you know, despite the skeletons overcrowding their closets, the Right Wing will NEVER be able to let this pass without using it to attack Obama in the hopes of diminishing him in the eyes of his constituents.

Good luck with that assholes!

The ever more convoluted story of the Generals and the homewreckers. "Oh, what tangled web we weave...

General Petraeus and General Allen.
...when first we practice to deceive."

Okay I have been trying to sit down and write about the Petraeus situation since early in the morning yesterday. But I swear that every single time I start to get a few words typed out the damn thing mutates even more, and there are even more twists and turns.

So this morning I watched Alex Wagner, and thought that, as of this post, she had the best take on the story as it stands.

By the way if you are worried about missing your daily soaps, don't bother. THIS thing is MUCH more convoluted and entertaining than those EVER were!

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

If that was not enough intrigue for you there is even more over at Politico, Salon, and the Daily Beast.

I feel I should add my opinion here, but literally I am not sure exactly WHAT to think right now. However I will say that I am pretty certain that, believe it or not, we have not seen the final shocking twist revealed in this unfolding story.

Secret Service supervisor who quit in wake of the Colombian prostitution scandal was once assigned to Sarah Palin. Indentifies himself as "Palin stalker."

Courtesy of TPM Livewire:

David Chaney has been identified as the Secret Service supervisor who retired under pressure this week in the wake of the prostitution scandal rocking the agency. Here’s a photo he posted on his Facebook wall back in 2009 of him protecting former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

“I was really checking her out, if you know what i mean?” he wrote in response to a friend, joking that he was a Palin “stalker.”

Well now, isn't THAT interesting?

Not to mention, creepy.

Shailey Tripp's book "Boys Wil Be Boys" is now available for purchase! Update!

As many of you have already noted, Shailey's book is now available for purchase here.

Shailey was kind enough to send me an advanced copy and I have been carefully reading through it for the past few days.

I cannot say that it will ever make the New York Times Bestsellers list, but I have to admit that it may be one of the bravest, most honest, most vulnerable accounts of a troubled women's desperate choices to care for her family that I have ever read.

In many ways Shailey's book is the exact opposite of Sarah Palin's carefully crafted mythology that showed up on the pages of  "Going Rogue."

Shailey does not shy away from the difficult choices that she felt she had to make, the bad people she let into her life, or the hurt that she has caused those who tried to love her.

And besides where else can you read scintillating details about the predatory nature of the "First Dude" such as this?

To escape reality, I zoned out and forced myself to think about things like grocery shopping, errands I needed to run, and calls I had to return. I just mentally removed myself from being at that place, in that situation, and with that person. I occupied my mind with mundane thoughts of everyday life. Believe me, I got no pleasure from the sexual act I entered into with the governor’s husband.

As soon as he finished Todd acted as if nothing had happened. He asked for a wet washcloth with which to clean himself. I got it for him. When he got through, he tied a knot in the used condom, wrapped it in the washcloth and stuffed everything in one of his coat pockets. As he was going out the door, he said he would be in touch with me. In hindsight, I believe he was formulating plans for my future even as he zipped himself up that day. If I had known then what I know now, I would have avoided further contact with him like the plague.Instead, I was drawn deeper and deeper into what I came to realize too late was a path leading to my own destruction. Todd Palin was not the soft - spoken nice guy, friend of Bonnie, client of Shailey Tripp that he presented to the world. The reality was on the other side of my massage room door, he was a predator, and I was in his crosshairs.

And that is only the beginning, like I said there is nothing off limits in this book.

So if you interested in reading what even Joe McGinniss and the National Enquirer were too hesitant to write about, then this is the book for you.

Update: It looks like Wonkette is on the case as well.

Apparently Rick Santorum knows exactly who is to blame for pedophiles in the Catholic priesthood. It was the liberals, duh!

"No seriously, ask my wife. This is how far she makes me stay away from her at all times."
Back in 2002, in a Catholic publication Santorum wrote an article called "Fishers of Men" in which he claimed the following:

Like most American Catholics, I have followed the recent sex scandals in the Church with profound sympathy for victims, revulsion over priests who prey on minors and frustration at the absence of hierarchical leadership. Unlike most, I have been visited by the gift of hope; for I see in this fall an opportunity for ecclesial rebirth and a new evangelization of America. This "new evangelization," advocated strenuously by Pope John Paul II, has the potential for restoring confidence in the priesthood while empowering all American Catholics.

The most obvious change must occur within American seminaries, many of which demonstrate the same brand of cultural liberalism plaguing our secular universities. My hope was rekindled last week as our American Cardinals proposed from Rome an "apostolic visitation" of seminaries emphasizing "the need for fidelity to the Church's teaching, especially in the area of morality." It is an arduous task. However, the Pope made it clear last week that he expects the strong appeal of the Cardinals to be followed by decisive Episcopal action.

It is startling that those in the media and academia appear most disturbed by this aberrant behavior, since they have zealously promoted moral relativism by sanctioning "private" moral matters such as alternative lifestyles. Priests, like all of us, are affected by culture. When the culture is sick, every element in it becomes infected. While it is no excuse for this scandal, it is no surprise that Boston, a seat of academic, political and cultural liberalism in America, lies at the center of the storm.

So men who are forced to remain celibate for their entire lives, and then left alone with young, easily manipulated  children are only taking advantage of them because of liberal attitudes in the world? WTF?

Now as those of us with a working intellect well know the Catholic priest sex scandals were NOT contained in Boston, and in fact turned out to be a world wide phenomenon that often went back for decades.  It even poisoned the lives of native children living in the remote villages of Alaska.

Just a few days ago the frothy mixture was asked about his contention that liberals were responsible for man on boy sex in the Catholic church.  He did not respond well.

This is the kind of bullshit blame game that these morons engage in all of the time, when they are around like minded individuals who will not call them out on their scurrilous claims. So of course now that Santorum has, what he believes, is a chance to get the GOP nomination he does not want to talk about the ignorant stuff he happily talked about in the past.

As a matter of fact Santorum's obsession with all things sexual, has started to cost him support with the very demographic that he is relying on to carry him into the White House. The Conservatives.

The GOP’s problem is that such talk alienates many voters who support the party out of fiscal conservatism but who would not appreciate Rick Santorum meddling with their sexual freedoms, thank you very much. If the Republicans want to deny Barack Obama a second term, they can’t afford to lose any of these voters.

There are a fair number of Republicans, not to mention Republican-leaning independents, who don’t care so much if Billy loves Bobby and is allowed to marry him. They realize the military hasn’t imploded post the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. So Santorum’s boast that he would restore the ban doesn’t exactly thrill them.

They realize that abortion rates have plummeted in recent decades and have little interest in reinstituting a nationwide ban on the procedure.

They’re not obsessed with the fallacy that women having access to contraception has undermined American families. And they don’t buy into a brand of Christianity that consistently reaches to promote the Founding Fathers as Bible-carrying apostles for Jesus.

Hmm it looks like many on the conservative side have decided to grow up, but little Rickie is still stuck in an adolescent fixation on all things sexual.

I think that most of us well realize that those who constantly promote themselves as better than others and seem to believe that they are surrounded by sexual deviancy, are in fact projecting their own frustrating desires from deep within their closet of denial.

So the question for any good reporter, in my humble opinion, should be, what is Rick Santorum hiding?

Because I think that many of us believe that it is definitely something.

Gee no wonder Sister Sarah likes him so much.

The Herman Cain scandal as covered by he only type of media that should take him seriously, the comics section.

I feel it must be pointed out that this scandal ultimately has NOTHING to do with Herman Cain's shot at the Republican nomination, as he never really had a shot at it in the first place. He has always been a sideshow, and a distraction from the real potential nominees.

However it has become increasingly apparent to me that perhaps one of the only people who did not realize that was Hermann Cain himself. He seems genuinely surprised that his campaign is self destructing.

Are any of you surprised?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Herman Cain's wife not quite prepared to "stand by her man."

"I'm sorry, my wife said what?"
Courtesy of The New York Times:

Herman Cain’s wife, Gloria, will not be appearing on the Fox News Channel on Friday night after all, a person close to the talks told the Caucus.

Ms. Cain had indicated to the network earlier in the week that she would appear on “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren” on Friday night, but apparently had a change of heart. The person familiar with the talks, who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations, said that Ms. Cain did not entirely close the door on appearing on the network some time in the future.

Her decision comes as her husband continues to face questions about accusations of sexual harassment while chief executive of the National Restaurant Association.

Oooh THAT is certainly not good news for the frontrunner.

If he cannot even get his wife to stand by him during this sex scandal, that can only send one message to the American people. And that message is that he is "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty!!!"(Extra exclamation points make it even more true.)

Jon Stewart is not buying the Herman Cain's excuses, and attempts to minimize his sexual harassment charges, either.

Monday, October 31, 2011

Herman Cain: "I never sexually harrassed anyone!" Now where have I heard a similar denial before?

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I don't think Cain helped himself much there. I mean mopping your brow while answering questions about sexual harassment is not an image you want played over and over again people's television sets while running for the GOP nomination. Am I wrong?

NBC had this up after Cain's denial:

NBC News has confirmed that one woman received a settlement from the National Restaurant Association after complaining about inappropriate sexual conduct by Herman Cain.

NBC News is not disclosing the name of the woman nor characterizing who she is.

Michael Smerconish, who I only occasionally agree with, made an excellent point this morning, saying that IF Herman Cain was the head of the National Restaurant Association at the time the hush money was paid out, he would have HAD to have known the payments were made.

Which means that Cain, who we know has difficulty with the truth, may have just lied himself into a corner.

And don't forget this, if the NRA and Cain had not had something to hide, they would NEVER have paid these women anything. Let's face it if the NRA was not somehow complicit, or were not pressured by Cain and his attorneys, they would have sent Cain packing and held a press conference afterward telling the whole world that their company does NOT tolerate this kind of behavior, even from the man at the top.

In other words, if Cain thinks this is about to blow over he is in for a rude awakening.

Did he learn nothing from seeing Bill Clinton get impeached? It is always the lies and coverup that ultimately does you in.
