Sarah does Haiti part two: "There! Now I touched some brown people! Take that you haters who call me a racist!"

From the Samaritan's Purse website:

Okay that video literally made me sick to my stomach.  Using these suffering children as a back drop to push forward Franklin's version of Christan propaganda is horrific, and I don't think I have seen the Grizzled Mama look so uncomfortable since last week's "hunting" episode of SPA when her daddy kept handing her that loaded "killing stick" over and over again. ("Will it kick?")

Did Palin actually refer to Samaritan's Purse as an "efficient organization?"

From the Guardian:

Samaritan's Purse has been accused during other humanitarian crises of putting its evangelical mission ahead of more tangible assistance to those in need. The organisation raises large sums of money from US Christians but the proceeds are not always visible on the ground.

During the 1994 Rwandan refugee crisis, Samaritan's Purse was criticised by other aid organisations for spending large amounts on luxury accommodation for its staff and providing only minimal assistance as tens of thousands of people died of cholera. That assistance principally consisted of sending stretcher bearers to carry the sick for treatment as a third person ran alongside the victim reading passages from the Bible.

In 2001, Samaritan's Purse was scorned for requiring victims of El Salvador's earthquake to attend prayer meetings before they could receive aid.

Knowing Palin the way I do, I believe this is the ONLY kind of charity organization she would be connected to.  You know, one that hides their REAL agenda behind philanthropic activities.

There was another interesting observation made in this Guardian article concerning Samaritan's Purse as well:

It declined to reveal her itinerary and told reporters to leave its compound in Haiti before the former Alaska governor's arrival, saying it was under a "security lockdown".

Really?  A "security lockdown?"  The only threat to Palin posed by reporters is the threat that she will be revealed as a giant phony, or that somebody will photograph her daughter from an unflattering angle.  This idea that Sarah Palin is putting herself at risk is just to keep her minions in a lather as they constantly worry about her safety.

Update: I guess even Sarah could not keep ALL unflattering pictures from seeing the light of day.

What a bunch of bull crap. Sarah Palin, in her attempt to slam the President for golfing, said she was too busy with her "causes" and such. Now she has an official "cause". I refuse to donate to any aid organization that proselytizes as part of its assistance to people who have been devastated by manmade or natural disasters. If you want to help Haitians donate to Doctors Without Borders. There are also groups that collect items for the people of Haiti free of religious clap trap. Research before you donate. And Sarah Palin, shut your mouth. Hope you do run in 2012 - I would love to see how much of your wealth gets donated to aid organizations.

Is Franklin still piddling sarah? How far along is Bristol? Is Todd on oxy or meth or both? All that will magically be forgotten when the world sees Kate.

Say what you will, but Kate is far better looking and more photogenic than sarah. The old goats will notice.

Pandering to their supporters for funds so they can fly on a Learjet with the likes of SP is NOT what He would endorse. Pimping themselves out so they can get attention by USING the likes of SP...did you notice Cissie started on FB and Twitter days before this...she knew SP and team would bring her fans...they are using SP just like she's using them.

The rumors are out there, though. My 20 year-old daughter who doesn't watch DWTS or follow Palin blogs has heard the PG rumors through word-of-mouth among her friends. People are definitely watching for what comes next for Bristol and it seems like she hasn't built up any good will with kids her own age.
My daughter and her friends think she is dull, petulant and has only gotten all this attention because she's Sarah Palin's kid who got knocked up.

These scumbags come off like they are on a trip to a zoo and they are observing a sick resident. I can't believe our country is going to tolerate this. Fox is making up the "news", someone will get a "documentary" to exhalt the virtues of you know who and Rebecca will have more to write. The Haitians don't know Palin's name and why would they after this? The lady in the Skinny Raven casual attire. Is Skinny Raven donating shoes to all the children until they have jobs? Or are they just greedy and soaking up the product placement?

There was a warning about unnecessary traveling. Who is paying for the security and what is this extravaganza costing? Helicopters aren't cheap and they must have had a huge Fox staff along. Who pays? Fox? It's not coming out of Graham's personal fortune. Sam Purse operates with a tax exemption. We pay our taxes and make up for these charlatans. There is nothing Christian or charitble about fat cats as hefty as the Grahams. It is a racket. Truly good samaritans work without scaring others about going to hell without their belief system, decent people can work without an extreme right camera crew and all the glory and lies.

Palin may want to curry favor with the black evangelist voters. Some say this is an attempt at a foreign policy look. If suddenly the last minute you can go to Haiti and may be Britain and say you have foreign policy experience. As absurd as that sounds, it is Palin and it could be how her puppetmasters think.

The only people Sarah Palin makes aware of Haiti are the people that are behind the times or don't know or don't like Haiti. The few ignoramuses she will inform will be fair weather friends to Haiti or join a bunch of charlatans. Cults go along with what their leaders say, that can be give to Haiti this week and not give next. They are not about learning from the past and doing something about the aid that is held up in Washington. It is about transferring power to the faith based movement that pays for salaries like Grahams. Sarah Palin is not up to speed on Haiti at all and is in no way equipped to pose as an activist or act as if this is what humanitarian is. If you send $100 to Samaritans Purse how much do you think will actually go to helping meet the needs of the people? These organizations are con artists and performers. There is no transparency, much of their operation is in secret.

Bristol learned to dance and now she is learning how to look like a do gooder and activist. That is not a real humanitarian or activist. It is a two day promotion for wealthy white people.

8:18 AM you only say "good deeds" because that is how you are conditioned. These are posed and contrived photos. Show us the actual good deeds. How much do you think it cost to transport everyone by helicopter? Spending millions to set up this cast of characters in a third world setting and having them pose while they touch and hold babies is a good deed?

8:18 - the "circumstances" don't need attention. Everyone knows Haiti was is in a shambles, that people are dying and their government sorely inadequate to the task of helping their citizens and rebuilding.

Aid organizations from all over the world have been there prior to and since the hurricane which happened, by the way, around a year ago!

Sarah seems to have just discovered the problem. Samaritan's Purse has long had a poor reputation amongst charities. It is headed by a vain, greedy man who looks after his own comfort rather than those who are suffering. Do some research, kiddo.

"Good" Americans care and because they care they research organizations and won't stand for flimflam artists such as Franklin Graham who use faith as a cover for their own sense of power and quest for wealth.

That Sarah has affiliated herself with Franklin Graham speaks to her shallow approach to problem solving and inability to do the hard work it takes to ferret out the truth.

"Good" Americans make sure that the help they send is really helping - not just a setup for photo ops. They do not hesitate to call out crooks for what they are.

  39. Sarah Palin endorsed Joe Miller. Do we really trust her to endorse a charity, especially one whose president does personal favors for her?

The Better Business Bureau's charity review, Sept 2010: "Samaritan's Purse (SP) does not meet the following 3 Standards for Charity Accountability."

    Standard 4: Compensated Board Members
    * The paid chief executive officer also serves as the chair of the board of directors.
    * 3 out of 22 (14%) board members are compensated directly.

Standard 12: The organization's functional breakdown of expenses did not include all of its major program categories.

    Standard 16: Annual Report
SP does not meet this standard because the most recent annual report did not include:

    * Total income.
    * Total expenses for each program in the same categories that appear in the organization’s financial statements.
    * Total fund raising expenses.
    * Total administrative expenses.
    * Total end of year net assets.

In addition, the BBB Wise Giving Alliance requested but did not receive complete information on the organization’s governance and oversight, effectiveness measures, finances, solicitation materials, donor privacy, and fundraising disclosures and is unable to verify the organization's compliance with the following 11 Standards for Charity Accountability: 1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 18, and 19."

  48. Excerpts from a Charlotte Observer article, Oct 7, 2009:

Concerns about his rising financial compensation during tough economic times have prompted evangelist Franklin Graham to temporarily give up future contributions to his retirement plans at the two charities he leads.

As president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan's Purse, he receives two full-time salaries and two retirement packages. Last year his total compensation from the two Christian ministries was $1.2 million.

As head of the Boone-based Samaritan's Purse, Graham earned more last year than any other leader of an international relief agency based in the United States. That includes eight with larger budgets, according to data compiled by Guidestar, a group that monitors non-profits.

Graham acknowledged last week that his compensation total “looks terrible” and that “people won't understand it.

News of his pay hike comes only months after BGEA laid off more than 10 percent of its staff.

Still, his total compensation of $535,000 (from Samaritan's Purse) was higher than the $421,000 paid to the president of World Vision International, a relief agency with a budget four times as large.

Bristol shows support for Palestinians. That is so awesome that she has a REAL cause, other than abstinence.
But I just can't help wondering how her mother is so bold as to allow this, considering all the money at stake with Franklin Graham.
    http://ziomania.com/images2009/keffiyeh/keffiyeh.htm

I just love that Middle Eastern look on Bristol. Big scarf, leather vest. Very upscale Muslim. She's brought the Palestinian men's traditional military look (Keffiyeh) to her hijab. And the baseball hat completes it for khimar.
    http://ziomania.com/images2009/keffiyeh/Keffiyeh9.jpg

How very hip of her. When they're in England soon, she might want to take that off. Lotsa Jewish people.

But I guess she really IS demonstrating her modesty, isn't she?
The Qur'an instructs both Muslim men and women to dress in a modest way. They are instructed to "draw the khimar over their bosoms" and that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof. (Qur'an 24:31)

Qur'anic verses enjoin women to "guard their private parts... and drape down khimar over their breasts [when in the presence of unrelated men]",[Qur'an 24:31] they urge modesty.

What I know is that this woman isn't a member of any church, as practicing Christians tend to be. Myself and others have been asking this question over and over on these blogs - where is her church community, where is her charity work, what does she do with her time?

While Samaritan's Purse - not a fan, though I am Christian - may engage in some legitimate work o behalf of the needy (note I say some), basically this is providing Sarah a high profile chance to "prove" she is an active Christian. Which she is not.

That, along with photographs of herself with people of color, is her ONLY motive for going down there in such an opportunistic and fraudulently controlled way.

    It's disgusting.

And thank you for posting the photos that Samaritan's Purse scrubbed, Gryphen. That wasn't done by accident, as we all know.

I went to the Samaritan's Purse Today website, to the article "Daughters Doing Their Part." They mentioned Cissie Graham Lynch is Tweeting from Haiti. Guess what. She just joined Facebook and Twitter recently.. for this trip? Lucky for us, she's been sending pictures, including links to the one of her and Bristol with babies. Do have to agree with someone else who said that Cissie looks more comfortable with the possibly sick children than Bristol does.

We all commented on Bristol's scarf yesterday (and today), but there may be more than meets the eye with the one from yesterday (with the white shirt). Sure looks similar to some of the ones Michelle Malkin is "all wee-wee'd up" about!

I can't agree with your assumption that criticism of SP is due to jealousy. (Such sweeping generalizations are made, in general, to deflect the truth of the criticism.)

But to the point, so-called "charity" organizations (like Samritan) that claim to be doing good while perpetuating the very system that maintains the evil are certainly not good, nor do they outweigh the bad. They are actually PART of the problem.

It's like when Queen Victoria donated FIVE POUNDS to the Irish genocide (famine) that she and her government and its predecessors CAUSED.

Let Graham speak against rampant corporatism and exploitation of the ENTIRE world by the first world countries and then DO somehing to try to check the greed and callous insensitivity of bankers and invetsors backed by military might (yes r\the US) to extract wealth from poor countries such as Haiti.

It seems as though Palin's entourage looked at all the negative publicity she's gotten recently and decided she needed some good PR. They looked around for a potential photo op and called on Graham like they did with the homemade cookies fiasco.

Palin has done absolutely nothing, either personally or financially, for any major charities since she was put in the spotlight in 2008. She doesn't spend time volunteering and shows no public support for anything except her own bank account. If she had any compassion for the people of Haiti, she would have been involved a year ago when the earthquake first hit like many celebrities were, not for a one-day photo shoot. Were there any announcements of a big contribution or large project that she is supporting? Of course not! She has no interest in helping the Haitians, and traveled there just to get her picture taken. Disgusting!

Use it to turn her into a saint, just like granmama did with trig but opposite situation. Seems odd they would suddenly care about people suffering in haiti, they are scheming up something. Also, nice of bristol to leave tripp again after being away from him so long. "Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me." It said something about feeding and clothing and visiting in jail and being kind to a stranger, but not a single thing about giving gifts...hmmmm...I'm no biblical scholar, just a recovering Catholic, but even I know this bible quote...how come the very Christian Sarah Palin and the ultra-ultra-Christian Franklin Graham don't????

Sociopaths like Sarah cannot connect with people, even the Haitians who have suffered for almost a year with no relief in sight.
    Look in those dead eyes.
Here is a person who could have made a HUGE difference in the lives of these cholera patients. She is a celebrity - she could pick up the phone and rake in tons of medical supplies, much needed food, and the companies would donate.
But SociopathicSarah (as usual) arrives at her destination empty handed.
A photo op at a medical facility or clinic is a nuisance. Especially when the patients have no idea who this woman is or why they are being photographed.
I would say disgusting but it is beyond disgusting. She has humiliated herself and she has chosen to exploit sick and injured patients and giving nothing in return.
Even the gifts she passed out were donated.

I'm 50/50 on the 'Bristol is pregnant again' train. The fact that she gained weight over the course of weeks of dance rehearsal just cannot be explained with anything other than a pregnancy or some other medical condition where hormones are out of whack.

There are pics where there is a belly which looks pregnant...not a fat belly but a solid belly but other pics where it isnt readily noticeable. The warm clothing in hot weather in LA, the scarves in Haiti tend to give me the impression she's trying to hide something.

But I'm not seeing an increase in belly size from several weeks ago. Foundation garments can only hide so much. And perplexed as to why she wouldnt be in 'hiding' if in fact she was pregnant. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming month.

What Sean Penn (movie star) and Sarah Palin are doing for Haiti is completely the opposite. Penn has poured his heart and soul into the country and Palin walks through a particular area once (w/the help of Graham and Greta) and now expects all of her fellow Americans to think she has 'foreign trade' experience? Give me a friggin break!

More and more Americans are seeing through the woman she tries to tell us she is! Her popularity is dropping - finally! Just look at her second book sales - many unsold copies are being returned to the publisher and she is selling no where near the copies she did with her first book.

And, her TV show on Alaska has dropped substantially in viewers. Let it be known that she does NOT represent the majority of women in Alaska and I've been here since 1960!.

60 million-dollar operation to give out "8 million shoeboxs in 110 countries, to children who wouldn't otherwise have a Christmas present."

Okay, I know that sounds significant and virtuous to us middle class Americans who have been conditioned that the absence of a Christmas present is the worst possible thing that can happen to us. And indicative of child abuse and poverty.
But think for one minute. Do all of these 110 countries necessarily celebrate the birth of Baby Jesus as a national holiday with a gift exchange? For the recipient children who do celebrate Jesus' birth, might there be national traditions and cultural customs already in place?
Isn't it a little strange to deliver presents to Buddhist and Muslim children? I wonder what the parents think? Is this well-received by Rom and Gypsy communities?

    Thanks!

Bristol with baby, Dec 12, 2010.
She looks very pregnant. The gut doesn't look just fat. It could be spandexed to hold in baby plus fat or just fat. I think if it was just fat she would confront that more than the one damage control about liking her big plus size body. She does seem to be trying to hide it, scarf and vest. She could be hiding either baby plus fat or just fat. By now I do think she would have confronted this in public if it was only fat. She is not treating herself or a baby well. Her diet stinks and is unhealthy. That may include more than food, she has to be on drugs or meds. Her head is not well. She is careless to be in a Malaria zone and not cover her arms and legs. She could have pretended the scarf was her Malaria protection if done right, it would have been an excuse. Better than to see her hot for nothing but a dumb scarf fashion that makes no sense unless she is a total loony tunes nut case.

I can only surmise that Tripp is handled with the same poor judgments. She looks like she is a terrible mother. She should be with Tripp unless he has grown out of the stage she likes and she just wants a new baby. She may want a new one until that one gets to be over a year and not more infant. Judging from that picture I don't think she would adopt a child that wasn't very white. She may loathe her own ancestry. Tripp was lucky to turn out not looking like the Johnston Mexican heritage. He had a mother until he was a year and a half. She may have abandoned him sooner if he had different skin.

"There were such ravaged conditions and environmental aspects of this country before the earthquake," said Palin.
"Haiti has been a country that has suffered in the past, that's going to continue to suffer until some fundamental changes are being made here," she added.

And apparently it's all about job creation, also too, down there in Haiti:
Palin said "job opportunities especially for the young people of Haiti" were something the poorest country in the Americas needed perhaps more than anything else.
"God created man to work, to produce, to be able to contribute and to take care of one's own family and one's own community," she said.

Why such a bulky scarf in that climate? I haven't looked at any possible clues suggesting that she might be pregnant (again), so I haven't had any inclination one way or the other, but this certainly raises an eyebrow for me. Trying to provide an offset for that lower half of her torso? Certainly looks like it. Just trying to get people like us to buzz amongst ourselves? Could be. But she does look... pregnant. Some of the DWTS photos looked like a stretch to me (could have been just the signs of an overweight person in my view). This one though... That's odd.

But I'm thinking that one the biggest ones might be to strengthen her "second coming of Jesus" appeal to her most core base. Of course they restricted camera access around her. If they didn't, maybe her worshippers might start to have an inkling of doubt about her when they don't see masses of fish jumping out of the sea or water suddenly turning into wine. Why is there cholera in Haiti?
    http://www.afaceaface.org/blog/?p=1529

"Let us focus here on the cholera. Not the treatment effort, but on its prevention. Aid agencies always warn of cholera and other water-borne diseases in these disasters. They know how to prevent it – make sure that faeces do not contaminate water supplies. This has not happened.

"Why? Why are people still defecating on the open ground, where it runs off into surface water, from whence the cholera vibrio can jump onto skin, food and drinking water every time it rains?

"Because there is no sanitation. Most Haitians had no running drinking water before the earthquake, let alone now. But this presupposes the Western, post-Crapper notion that it is a good idea to shit into water. I bet there are plans being drawn up as we speak to theoretically supply, by private contract, a Haiti-wide Western style sewerage system. Plans.

"What the displace Haitians need is low technology sanitation. A slit trench is better than open-ground defecation. It is what it says on the tin. A slit trench, a trench which you straddle, crap into, and then immediately cover the crap with the earth dug out of the trench. No smell, no flies – but a risk of groundwater contamination at a later date.

"So the slit trench is a second best option. The best option is a compost toilet system. There are many models, but the one I favour and use is Joe Jenkins’ Humanure system. ..."

Operation Christmas Child is a year-round effort to take shoe box gifts and the message of the gospel to 8 million children all around the world. On April 27, 2009, 65,000 of the shoe boxes you gave were loaded on a Boeing 747 cargo plane in Charlotte, North Carolina, traveling to China for children whose lives were devastated by last year’s earthquake. Franklin Graham, President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, was in China on May 12th, 2008, and felt the quake. Samaritan’s Purse immediately responded with disaster relief to the Sichuan Province of Central China sending water filtration systems, medical supplies, hygiene kits, and blankets. The continued relief effort has led to this exciting delivery of shoe boxes to the children of this region.

what an amazing opportunity to hear about how God- over time is and has prepared the way for opening doors in China. I think one of the things I love most about this ministry is that the faithfullness to answer immediate needs of eathquake victims through blankets and food has now opened the door for gift filled shoeboxes to go in the name of Christ. Praying for the journey of these boxes and excited to hear more!

friend put me in touch with this website and told me of the great news about OCC going into China. I, now, sit here with tears in my eyes over the goodness of God. I work in my church every year with the shoebox ministry and I am so very excited! This year will be no exception when I encourage everyone to do as much as they are able to reach people for HIM! FANTASTIC!
4 | Woo-hoo!! What a privilege to get to be there to see those shoeboxes off on their way and to pray over them. It’s such an easy thing to pack a shoebox, but man, does it pack a huge punch! May these children in China know God’s love for them!

5 |Shannon from OCC sent me pictures of a little boy in China receiving and opening his shoe box! So precious! I love actually seeing the faces of the children.

6 | I got involved in Operation Christmas Child as a teenager in high school and have been involved ever since. For the last two or three years I have included personal notes wih a return address in my boxes. A little more than a month ago I recieved a letter from a 9 year old boy living in South Africa. He had recieved one of my boxes. He said that he had never recieved a gift like that before. He is part of a large family but the only one in his family to recieve a box because he is the only one going to school but he enjoyed sharing the box with his family. Since recieving the box he has become involved. I am looking foward to keeping in touch with him and filling many more boxes.

Oh yes. Sarah Palin IS running for president.
    The Brody Files, May 2010
Franklin Graham and Dr. James Dobson together in Washington. They were in town taking part in a National Day of Prayer pre-event hosted at the Family Research Council.
Franklin Graham: "Certainly, there seems to be, that Islam under this administration, gets a pass, and that's very concerning to me and to a lot of evangelicals. And there were millions of Evangelical Christians that voted for Barack Obama in this last election. I don't think they will be at the table next time."

Why Sarah Palin's Reality Show Helps Her
"But you know what? The show works. It makes her look strong and commanding.
I'm not saying people are going to then all of a sudden start to make the leap that she can handle the presidency. But this show makes her look more in control and strong. Those attributes are crucial in the rebooting of Sarah Palin 2.0."

Samaritan's Purse censured by United Kingdom Charity Commission

The accounts for Samaritan's Purse UK for 2006 show a turn over in excess of £22 million (34.7 million U.S. dollars).
Of this total, £1.3 million were disbursed on relief and aid projects with the balance spent on promotion and operations associated with the evangelical project Operation Christmas Child.

Samaritan's Purse responded to many of these concerns by highlighting their evangelical focus and their long history of interfaith cooperation. Following censure from the UK Charity Commission, Samaritan's Purse UK also released a leaflet clarifying their intent and methods.

    A 'must read'.

    Giles Fraser, The Guardian

The evangelicals who like to giftwrap Islamophobia - The world's largest children's Christmas project has a toxic agenda

"Little wonder that such organisations as the fire service in south Wales, which had allowed its depots to be used as collection points for shoeboxes, has decided to suspend its involvement. Other organisations are reconsidering their participation.

What is most resented about Samaritan's Purse is the way it links aid and evangelism. "We have no problem with people going into a country to do evangelical work," said Hodan Hassan, a spokeswoman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "But when you mix humanitarian work in a war-torn country with evangelisation you create a problem. You have desperate people and you have someone who has food in one hand and a Bible in another."

"Ironically, it is the story of the good Samaritan that provides one of the most effective put-downs to precisely the sort of Islamophobia displayed by Christian fundamentalists such as Graham. Jesus is asked: "Who is my neighbour?" The moral of the story he tells in response - at least the one most people remember from Sunday school - is that it is the man who is beaten up and left for dead that Jesus points to as our neighbour.
Conclusion: we must help those in need.

But that's not the story at all. A man is mugged in the Wadi Qelt between Jerusalem and Jericho. Whereas the religious pass by and do nothing, it is the Samaritan who offers care. Those listening to the story would have despised Samaritans. The words "good" and "Samaritan" just didn't go together. Indeed, theirs would have been the General Boykin reaction: that Samaritans worshipped the idol of a false god. Therefore, in casting the Samaritan as the only passer-by with compassion, Jesus is making an all-out assault on the prejudices of his listeners.

If the story was just about helping the needy, whoever they are, it would have been sufficient to cast the Samaritan as the victim and a Jewish layperson as the person who helped. Crucially, however, the hated Samaritan is held up as the moral exemplar.
Conclusion: we must overcome religious bigotry."

And we come to the good stuff!
The real background to Sarah Palin's misinformation (the "gaffe" that wasn't a gaffe) about North Korea. Sarah thinks the things she does because she's been given a Franklin Graham/James Dobson version.
    FOR REAL.

"Franklin Graham arrived in North Korea on July 31 for a historic four-day visit to meet with
government and church leaders, assess relief projects, and share the Gospel.
At the formal reception that evening, Graham was welcomed by Jong Tae Yang, vice director of foreign ministry, along with Rev. Kang Yong Sop, chairman of the central committee of the Korean Christian Federation, and Ri
Jong Ro, director of international affairs for the Korean
    Christian Federation.
Graham addressed the gathering.“I do not come to you today as a politician or diplomat. I come to you instead as a minister of the Gospel and an ambassador for the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.”

Of course, Fox News and Greta Van Susteren were there.
Graham completed his visit on Sunday by delivering an evangelistic message at Bongsu Church. He and his father, Billy Graham, are the only two Americans who have been allowed to speak at the church. With no restrictions from the authorities, he preached from the third chapter of the Gospel of John, explaining to
hundreds in the congregation how they can be born again through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
“I want to try to help the church that is here in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” Graham told Fox News.
During his visit, Graham had the unique opportunity to talk with Vice President Kim Yong Dae and other senior government leaders, and presented them with a basketball, Korean-language Bibles, a cross, and a statuette of the Good Samaritan.

Our family has participated in Operation Christmas Child for many years and contributed many boxes. It was easy. It was simply a way to make a child happy for a few hours and spread some good will internationally. It wasn't meant as a replacement for health care needs or disaster relief. To be honest, I wasn't aware of the problems until I heard Franklin Graham's rants earlier this year, and decided I wouldn't support the organization. The shoe boxes were a great way for our children to participate in charity. Both children worked at the warehouses to pack the boxes as part of their church youth groups. Our family isn't wealthy but we give a great deal of our income to charity. My husband and I volunteer extensively. We have taken in women and children from shelters, etc.

All this being said, it makes me sick to see Sarah Palin handing out the shoeboxes. Like everything else Sarah touches, I hope Franklin understands this will not benefit his organization in the long run, no matter what his intentions, i.e. increase donations by tapping into Sarah's Insane Clown Posse.

Wait just one second, Tod and Sarah are in Haiti, who in the hell is watching Willow and Track?

Forgot to mention in an earlier post that Samaritan's Purse wants contributors of shoe boxes to donate not only the toys in the shoe boxes but also $7.00 to cover their costs. Did you tell your donors that they would be financing Sarah et al to come to Haiti to score political points. Never again!

The $7.00 donation to 'cover' costs is discussed at Samaritan's Purse...http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/OCC/Pack_A_Shoe_Box/

So "job opportunities" are the answer, huh Sarah? These poor people are so far out from being able to discuss that issue in any concrete way that it is ludicrous she would frame remarks about Haiti in that manner.

This country has been devastated. There is no infrastructure. There is rampant government corruption. There is rampant poverty and disease.

Jobs are the least of it at the moment.

They are truly a land in need of charity and help right now, not lectures about "job opportunities".

STFU, Ms. Palin. No one asked you for your opinion.

I can't find the quote, but Ghandi said something to the effect of 'it's hard to speak to a man about God when he is only thinking of bread'.

These people need to have a stable environment FIRST, Sarah! (sanitation, nutrition, medical facilities, government)

Give it a rest. Bristol's baby bump IS far too obvious for a scarf to hide. What you might not get is the difference between the Palinbots and the (real) readers of Gryphen's blog (who have at least half a brain in their heads).

This whole thing is beyond grotesque. The Haiti trip. The revirginization. The Candies spokeswoman role. All of it.

mlaiuppa 3:57 Your comment at Bristle makes me think of a line from the movie The Devil Wears Prada, when the young fashionista says seriously:
I'm just one stomach flu away from a size two!!!

Also, too, scarves like Bristle is wearing ARE all the rage around where I live, middle atlantic states. but in the Fall and Winter. No one wore them in the heat of summer for gods sake. They are REALLy good at hiding old fashion HICKIES with the teenagers!!! Maybe Bristle was kissing a hoover vacuum cleaner before the trip.
    And yes,
SOMEONE in the MSM point out that Mrs. Palin is paling around with Scientologists!!!
Dobson. Graham. VanSuckup . Fundies and Scientologist. Strange bedfellows indeed.

Anon @8:41. Your first sentence says it all. My heart broke for those poor, sick Haitians lying there with Palin strolling by, gawking. They thought she was there to help. Little did they know it was just a selfish photo op to exploit their suffering.

If the Palinbots think their queen is so influential, then have her use her so called powers to release the money earmarked for the Haitian relief!!!!

Anon @8:38. Not to worry. I know many good hearted Christians who live the Word. :-)

Sarah has to be taken to a special area by helicopter. Most of the country is without sanitation and they don't have bathrooms. Kitchens are primitive, if you are well enough to eat. Can she imagine getting ready to commute to work in Haiti? Graham did her no favors by taking her to an area where it has been sanitized to some degree for people like her to only see part of the picture and conjure more myth.

What a snake oil salesman Graham is to tag on another $7.00 to pay her way to promote fantasies and build up this foreign policy farce to go along with the humanitarian one. I am sure we haven't begun to hear how this has turned both Sarah and Bristol into even more saintly and busy with all the causes. Rebecca Mansour must really be on a roll and typing as fast as she can. I can hardly wait to hear more of their jobs for Haiti plans. They make Baby Doc look good. Isn't he still alive? Maybe they can partnership and save Haiti.

I thought she went to Haiti to look for HATERS.
I have a cousin who has been to Haiti several (6-9) times teaching women how to make crocheted purses/bags out of plastic bags(like grocery store bags etc) and she hauls them back to USA to sell and then brings ALL the money back to them.
They are cute/washable and each one is unique.
Now THAT is charity work, and she is a nurse also who WORKS while there in addition to her "job skills teaching". Try that one on for size sarah you delapediated has been.

They just announced on "the View" that Palin was the only one to contact them and was "unhappy with her piece". OMG! She is a nut!

Barbara than went onto saying that the "LIST" was as it was told by Palin, and that Barbara plugged her book, so she didn't know what her-Palin's issue was.

Palin does it again. She is quoted as saying, "“I know that there’s been some discussion of U.S. aid perhaps being lifted from this area. Again — not to get political — but if some of the politicians would come here and see the conditions, perhaps they would see a need for, say, a military airlift to come bring supplies that are so needed here.” I guess Sarah didn't have time to read the papers for the last year. According to USAID, the US has given over $1.1 billion in aid so far and US-based NGO's (that don't pay their executives millions of bucks) have been on the ground since the day of the quake.

6:12 AM - "I have a cousin who has been to Haiti several (6-9) times teaching women how to make crocheted purses/bags"

In no way minimizing your cousin's charitable good works, but why would Haitians not know how to crochet?
Certainly they would, the same as any other country.

First of all, I see Sister Sarah pulled out the old push-up bra.

Second - I find it interesting that she made a HUGE POINT of saying that the money donated to Samatin's Purse was given directly to the people. It was like she was giving direct LYING answers to the FACTS about the charity. Duping the dupes again. She is SO collusive. I wonder how much she'll get in return?

How can either of them call themselves "christian"?? How the hell do they sleep at night?

    Great FACTS as always Gryph.
