Palin-bot sues Nevada DMV for not allowing him to display his ignorance on his license plates.

From the Daily Mail:

A Nevada man has filed suit against the state's Department of Motor Vehicles after multiple requests for personalised licence plates supporting Republican Sarah Palin were rejected.

James Linlor, of Douglas County, claims his rights were violated when the state refused to issue a series of license plates supporting the former Alaska governor, branding them 'inappropriate' in nature.

According to the claim, 'GOPALIN' was among several requests rejected, while the agency approved others including 'GO OBAMA' and 'DMOCRAT'.

According to court documents filed on Friday in U.S. District Court, Mr Linlor filed for the personalised licence plate 'GOPALIN' in 2009 and 2010. Both, he says, were rejected, reports the Las Vegas Sun.
In June, 2010, his requests for 'PALIN,' 'PALIN12' and 'PALIN16' were denied.

The DMV’s Special Plates Committee, which reviews applications, stated the applications were 'vulgar or obscene or expressing superiority of political affiliation.'

Well at this point I have to side with the Nevada DMV, I mean clearly this vanity plate choice would fall into the "vulgar or obscene" category. I guess the reason could be that last one, but nah.

After all it is not like there is a clear demonstration of bias on the part of the Nevada DMV.

I'm sorry, WHICH license plate submissions did they okay?

Mr Linlor says he later discovered the DMV had issued other politicly-motivated license plates, including 'GOGREEN,' 'DMOCRAT,' 'AL GORE,' 'KERRY,' 'EDWARDS,' 'DEAN,' 'HILLARY' and 'RONPAUL,' while requests for 'REPBLCN' and 'BUSH,' were rejected.

Testing the system, Mr Linlor said he applied for a 'GO OBAMA' plate, which was approved.

Oh.  They actually issued an "EDWARDS" and a "RONPAUL?"

Well that sort of changes things now doesn't it?

As much as it pains me to say, I do believe this gentleman has a very definite legal point and he should in fact be allowed to put "IMBCIL," I'm sorry I mean "GOPALIN" on his license plate. As ridiculous, and ill informed as that decision might be, it does appear to be unfair to reject HIS request while allowing other Nevada residents to put THEIR political idols on the license plates which adorn their vehicles.

After all, his decision could have been much, much worse.

  2. I fully agree with you and the guy/idiot who wants "GoPalin" on his plate. If they won't let him get his plate, then other plates supporting candidates shouldn't be allowed.

I do agree that his request should be treated fairly. It is curious why, the other political type vanity plate words went through the system, but "palin" did not. He could take this as a divine message or something, and wait to see if she really announces.

Obama has not trademarked his name. Why should the State of Nevada risk a copyright lawsuit so one ignoramus can announce his stupidity? If he's upset about it, he needs to complain to Sarah, Inc. Besides, he has bumper sticker options. Plenty of dumb crap you can stick on your bumper.

Maybe it has something to do with the trademark?

You shouldn't goad them with that IMBCIL plate idea, Gryph, they might actually go for that one, too also.

Gawd, Sarah is becoming as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside...what an awful picture.

Granny was right. You start life with the face you are born with and you end up with the face you deserve.

All that hatefulness and lying is catching up with Sarah's looks.

  11. Won't the legal trademarking of the Palin name be accomplished soon? Then it could be a problem for the fellow to display her name w/o her permission--or for the state to even produce Palin vanity plates.

As an aside, what's wrong with Palin's hair in that picture. She can't afford shampoo and a comb?

    Nope.

    They don't issue duplicate plates.

Which makes me question whether his claims are accurate.

Perhaps he should try Go Beck, Go Murdoch or Go Madoff and see what happens.

No joke - I once knew a man named Charles Ulrich. He worked at a University and applied for the license plate of: CHUCK U and had it rejected - hahaha

Seriously though, I'm guessing there is a letter-combo inside the name that is causing the rejection. While responsible for a chatroom many years ago, a very nice man kept getting kicked out of our room because his nickname NightWatchman tripped our auto-swear kick. Can you see it? the word Twat is dead center...

And the DMV has even goofier rules than we did.

It's probably best this man doesn't get this plate anyway as in Nevada odds are locals would be inclined to kick the crap out of him or his car. DMV's probably done him a big favour :)

O/T, but something I have suspected for a long time now. Obviously, I'm not alone...

    Sarah Palin-sexual abuse victim?
I certainly hope not, but by observing her actions and words, you have to wonder.

Sarah uses a lot of sexual innuendo. Accuses President Obama of not having the cojones to deal with immigration. Cojones is Spanish for testicles, or balls.

When David Letterman made a joke about Willow, Sarah got all pissed off about it and called him a pervert.

Joe McGinniss moves in next door to write his book on Sarah, she freaks out and accuses him of trying to look into her bedroom window.

She also called reporters limp, impotent, and gutless when they actually had the "cojones" to report criticism of her. Impotent if of course when a man cannot get aroused.

In a Vanity Fair article Sarah is quoted while getting ready for a city council meeting that she is going to wear her push up bra tonight so she can get what she wants.

She also accused Shawn Christy and others of wanting to rape her daughters.

On many occasions she has dresses very provocatively.

The Belmont stakes, wearing a push up bra:

An interview with FOX News, wearing a sleeveless dress: pic

Wearing leopard shoes at the Long Island speech: pic

Newsweek, then bitches that it was sexist: pic

Yet she did pose the same way for Runner's World. Did she think that was sexist? pic

Victims of sexual abuse are more likely to engage in sexual behaviors like promiscuity, sexual innuendo, and dressing provoactively. They also have low self esteem. Sarah has had multiple sexual relationships with Brad Hanson and Curtis Menard and she definitely has low self esteem.

Another interesting thing is her relationship with her father, Chuck Heath. He seems like a predator. He bought a shirt that said "Coldest State, Hottest Governor". What kind of father does that? My dad didn't even like me wearing Co Ed Naked T-Shirts when I was in high school and college.

He also made a comment about kids losing their underwear? Ewww!

And in Sarah Palin's Alaska he showed unusual interest in Kate's daughters.

One other aspect about Sarah is she shows callousness towards other sexual abuse victims, like making rape victims pay for their rape kits: vid

And she thinks rape victims should not abort their babies that were conceived during rape: vid

One of the reasons Sarah fired Walt Monegan as Public Safety Commissioner was over the budget. He wanted more funding to fight sexual abuse and going after rapists. Sarah said no. The other reason is obvious, he would not fire Mike Wooten.

I don't know if Sarah is a sexual abuse victim, nor is it anyone's business, but if she did she needs HELP!

This is not a 'fairness' issue, for cyrin' out loud. 'Palin' is trademarked. 'Obama' is not. You can't put 'Fruit Loops' on your license plate, either, although it would be about equally effective. If he wants to brand himself with Palin product, he's going to have to get it through an officially sanctioned distributor--not the State of Nevada. The only 'conspiracy' to keep people from using Sarah's name is her own and it's related to her grifting. She wants cash ever time her name is used. That's on 'Sarah the money grubber' and no one else.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Lisab25957:48 AM

It could be a violation of her recently acquired trademark. The state would be making money off Palin's name.

Ages ago, I remember my dad being upset they raised the fees on personalized plates. He said, "it used to be easy to spot the idiots on the road. Now you can only spot *rich* idiots."

The day we went to the DMV in Anchorage to get our AK plates (a very advanced and streamlined operation IMO) the clerk told us the random plate generator churned out DVL-666. They didn't issue it. :D

  32. Don't understand why he was denied if the others were approved. First, I'd want to see proof that they were approved and do exist. Would also like to see it proven that his were rejected and not merely already in use.

I went to the NV website and tried a few 'Palin + number' combos. A couple were taken but found several number combinations that were available and approved.

On the surface, I agree, it seems unfair, but I wish the state would clarify further it's reasons for not allowing it.

A bit O/T, but very relevant to PAYlin. Daily caller has an article on the front page advocating a brokered Repub convention, as many, including party bigwigs and insiders are unsatisified with the current field of "lightweights"

    http://tinyurl.com/3sv56yf

The article links and refers to a PDF document drafted by unnamed prominent Repubs

For you PAYlin fans, here's a few juicy quotes:

    Quotes:
Several long-time Republicans dissatisfied with the crop of candidates running for president have developed an unorthodox plan to upend what they consider a flawed GOP nomination process.

The chaos envisioned by the anonymous drafters of the idea would be a brokered Republican National Convention that might even lead to the nomination of dream candidates like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie or Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

Clearly, the current crop of Republican presidential candidates will not do anything about it (the weak field)
They are trapped in the “bizzaro” world of the primaries.

If new candidates, such as the current governor of Texas or the FORMER GOVERNOR OF ALASKA (BigBoss idiot), jump into the primaries, the process will not change and therefore the outcome will not change
    End quotes

So in theory, if you read through the PDF plan at:

    http://tinyurl.com/426puly

you will see what they advocate is to have a "NONE of the above" option on state ballots.

That has to make the Palinbots feel great. Let's hope that the Repubs don't get smart enough to actually do that.

If PAYlin, Bachmann, and the rest of the weak field are tearing each other down in primaries and debates, that benefits everyone.

I know what I'd like MY plate to say:

    PAYlinDefeated!

  58. The trademark wouldn't be an issue with the license plate.

When you trademark a word or phrase or brand name you have to declare it's use in a specific class, for which Ms. Palin declared use in classes 041 (Educational and entertainment purposes) and 035 (Use for political purposes, specifically on a website concerning political issues and to provide information about political elections).

The name's use on a license plate is fair game, at least with regard to the aforementioned trademark issue.
