Herman Cain's wife not quite prepared to "stand by her man."

"I'm sorry, my wife said what?"
Courtesy of The New York Times:

Herman Cain’s wife, Gloria, will not be appearing on the Fox News Channel on Friday night after all, a person close to the talks told the Caucus.

Ms. Cain had indicated to the network earlier in the week that she would appear on “On the Record With Greta Van Susteren” on Friday night, but apparently had a change of heart. The person familiar with the talks, who requested anonymity to discuss private conversations, said that Ms. Cain did not entirely close the door on appearing on the network some time in the future.

Her decision comes as her husband continues to face questions about accusations of sexual harassment while chief executive of the National Restaurant Association.

Oooh THAT is certainly not good news for the frontrunner.

If he cannot even get his wife to stand by him during this sex scandal, that can only send one message to the American people. And that message is that he is "Guilty, Guilty, Guilty!!!"(Extra exclamation points make it even more true.)

Jon Stewart is not buying the Herman Cain's excuses, and attempts to minimize his sexual harassment charges, either.

The Republican candidates are imploding. None of them have a snowballs chance in hell of being elected to the office of President of the United States. In light of how poorly they are coming across, isn't it going to look even worse for Sarah Palin that she did not throw her hat in the ring? Didn't she say she'd run if no other candidate was worthy? None are. So where is she? Is she going to bash Obama at her next speech when it's obvious to everyone that the Republicans have NOTHING to offer? Of course she has nothing to offer either and would never be elected. I just find it hilarious that the Republicans have nothing at this stage :)

She would be a fool to go on television to defend her husband. As IT'S A FACT he was accused of harassment. What is she going to say? I've never seen my husband do this?

I am totally against spouses having to stand by their partners after the partners have brought shame and humiliation on themselves.

Herman-like the cheese --would stand alone.

If you notice, she never stood by her man. How offen do you see Ms. Cain? Not very offen, she don't do any campaigning or even travel with him. I don't think she wanted Herman to run for president or pretend to run. :D

The best think you can say about Herb Cain is that once he gets this silliness about running for president out of his system he can always go back to making mediocre corporate pizza.

Does he seem like a forthcoming kind of guy? I'll bet he lied to her.

  9. lol. The cheese stands alone. I think it is funny that Herb has gotten away with hiding his wife. You can't run for president without dusting off the wife and putting her on display (or the husband, in the case of a female candidate). If Herb doesn't get her into public view soon we will have to assume she is a bigger loser than Marcus. Or she doesn't like her husband and doesn't want to be First Lady. As for making an appearance just because Herb is having to deal with his sexual harassment past, THAT is something she does not have to do.

Pulling a Sarah Palin, Herman Cain is blaming everybody but himself for his recent troubles. Cain said the media and GOP presidential opponent Rick Perry are responsible for publicizing the sexual harassment allegations against him. The Associated Press has more:

O/T and FYI Gryphen and all you awesome readers:

SARAH PALIN: YOU BETCHA! will be available on Internet VOD/EST on November 8th and Cable VOD on November 11th from Freestyle Digital Media. The DVD will be released in 2012.

The film is directed by Nick Broomfield (Biggie and Tupac, Kurt & Courtney) and Joan Churchill (Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer) with appearances by: John Bitney (Palin's former Legislative Director), Howard Bess (Former Alaskan pastor), Colleen Cottle (Former Wasilla Deputy Mayor), Walt Moneghan (Former Police Chief of Anchorage), Mike Wooten (Palin's former brother-in-law/Troopergate Scandal), Chuck and Sally Heath (Palin's parents) , Lyda Green (Former Alaskan Senate President), and Laura Chase (Palin's former campaign manager).

SARAH PALIN: YOU BETCHA! tells the story of Nick Broomfield's quest for the real Sarah Palin - a journey across the icy snows of Alaska in mid winter, to meet the school friends, family, and Republican colleagues that in previous days gave their heart, and souls to the charismatic, charming, and intoxicating ex hockey mum. But it's not all plain sailing. People are frightened to talk, Wasilla makes Twin Peaks look like a walk in the park. It's a devout evangelical community - 76 churches with a population of only 6 thousand, and the Crystal meth capitol of Alaska. Who are the flying monkeys, the enemies, the friends, and most importantly - are you with her or against her? Join the quest and for Christ's sake buy some thermals!

Herman Cain Campaign Manager Struggles With Megyn Kelly’s Most Basic Questions

Herman Cain campaign manager Mark Block made a striking accusation during an appearance on Special Report with Bret Baier last night, alleging that members of Rick Perry‘s campaign were responsible for “stirring up” the sexual harassment accusations against Herman Cain that have been in the forefront of political news. Block returned to Fox News’ airwaves earlier today, and was asked by host Megyn Kelly to respond to comments made by Perry staffer Curt Anderson, who had earlier denied having played any role in the story. Block’s response was, at best, a weak one.

According to Rachel, there are six different women who were bothered by Cain in one way or another. A conservative radio host saw Cain act inappropriately towards two women on his staff, and another conservative guy saw Cain act very badly with a waitress in a restaurant, in front of other witnesses.

Maybe Ginny Thomas will write a letter of excuse for Mrs. Cain.

As explained to me by my father-in-law (a former Federal prosecutor)

In regards to the settlement Herman Cain is:

    a) lying
    b) lying
    c) lying

The defense attorney HAD to have told him about the settlement offer, otherwise it would be gross malpractice.

This is not a matter of remembering what you had for breakfast 12 years ago, and not to belittle the actions, but within the political framework, its all about how you handle the aftermath, not the initial fuckup.

I'm so sorry this happened to someone and I wish her all the strength in the upcoming weeks, months, years, but when I replace my base humanity hat with my political hat - I'm going to pop some popcorn for this.

  25. Your female readers (like myself) would tend to side with Mrs. Cain. She can't control her husband's actions (good or bad) when she's not with him. I think Greta would have the good sense to be gentle with her, but most women wouldn't want to vouch for their husbands' purity (especially if there are any seeds of doubt to begin with). Hillary Clinton was an exception, strongly defending Bill, and then being proven wrong; and still taking Bill back. Bill and Hill have a connection, and I'm glad they've been able to work through his philandering ways.

The GOP is a fractured party now, in the way that pundits accuse Dems of being in disarray, beholden to a myriad of niche interests. GOP voters outside-the-beltway have no interest in paying attention to the affluent talking heads/pundits in DC. Romney may be the favorite, but 75% of his party hate his flip-flopping and his tenure as the most liberal state's governor.

I'm crossing my fingers for a free-for-all convention next summer. California's primary is June 4th. I'm hoping we can really throw a monkeywrench in GOP politics then.

The Real and Present Danger of Herman Cain

I'm not sure yet what to make of the sexual harassment charges against Herman Cain. If it is true that Cain used his position of authority to sexually harass subordinates, that raises real questions about his moral and ethical character that must be answered. Whether the allegations are true or not, however, even a casual perusal of Herman Cain's public pronouncements reveals that he has a striking shallowness of mind and a woefully underdeveloped critical intellect that render him unable to fully fathom the complexities of social and political life in America.

For instance, early in his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, Cain loudly railed against what he portrayed as a major threat to America by Islamic Sharia jurisprudence, despite the impossibility of Sharia or any other foreign law code supplanting the U.S. Constitution. And this despite the further fact that Sharia Law has even failed to take hold in many Muslim countries. (Cain ceased his attacks after a little publicized meeting with Muslim clerics made it embarrassingly clear that he had no idea what he was talking about.)

Furthermore, judging by his claims that black Democrats are "brainwashed" because of their party affiliation, Cain seems unable to comprehend the easily comprehensible: that blacks' preference for Democrats is almost certainly a response to years of Republicans' coded appeals to white racial animosities (remember Richard Nixon's "southern strategy" and Ronald Reagan's mythical "welfare queens"?) and Republicans' ongoing efforts to dismantle governmental programs and protections designed to level America's social, educational and economic playing fields. In spite of unimpeachable statistical and other evidence that blacks still face substantial race-based challenges in America, Cain preaches a "see-no-hear-no-speak-no-(racial)-evil" approach to our nation's struggle with racism that has little basis in fact and no basis in reality, yet is totally consistent with the right-wing's continual attempts to obfuscate the racism that has always informed it.

Worse, Mr. Cain exhibits an astounding lack of knowledge about -- of all things -- America's political landscape. Neo-conservatism is one of the most important political developments of the last several decades and now dominates the foreign policy perspective of his own political party, yet Herman Cain admitted on Meet the Press that he'd never heard of neo-conservatism. He also made the curious statement to the Christian Broadcasting Network that he would sign a constitutional amendment banning abortion "as soon as it came across my desk," apparently unaware that presidents play no such role in the constitutional amendment process.

Such an appalling level of ignorance of the most basic social and political realities in Herman Cain or in anyone else with the ear of the public is dangerous for the half-truths, the untruths and the unhealthy social and political prescriptions they can purvey. But what is more dangerous...

Did you see who wrote the Foreword for Jan Brewer's new book?

That's Jessica Gavora again, isn't it?
Did she maybe help with more than the Foreward? Gavora got a shoutout from Sarah for "most important work" on Palin's book America by Heart.

The Brewer book is published by Broadside Books.

    Mission Statement
Broadside Books is a pioneering new imprint of HarperCollins that specializes in conservative non-fiction writing, spanning the full range of serious right-of-center thought and opinion. Employing traditional print formats alongside a groundbreaking e-book series, the imprint seeks to create a forum for cutting-edge conservative
    ideas.

Here is an announcement from the Broadside Books website announcing a symposium earlier this year.

What's Next in the War Against Liberalism?

Liberalism is entering its twilight years. Intellectually discredited, morally bankrupt, and rapidly losing its grip on political power - the Progressive ideology that produced communism and fascism, as well as the modern welfare nanny state, has finally exhausted the reserves that gave it life. In short, it's a spent force.

This does not mean that Liberalism will go quietly. Rather, it's much more likely that it will end, not with a whimper, but a bang - a Liberal Supernova. Desperation is a powerful force. Thus, Liberalism's last fits and gasps can be expected to become more irrational and aggressive as it nears its end.

This is not a cause for celebration, but a call to arms. Nothing is inevitable in history. Conservatism must go on the offensive to counter the coming wave of attacks. A revitalized Conservatism must continue to defend the permanent things, but also confront its intellectual adversaries. Conservative historical revisionism, new ideas and policy proposals, investigative journalism, and a better appreciation and radical devotion to our nation's founding principles are required to triumph in the coming ideological struggle. The goal is to demolish the failed Liberal experiment of the last century root and branch, and replace it with a modern Conservatism.

So, let's begin to discuss and debate the ideas, principles, and future course of Conservative thought. Broadside Books has assembled some of the leading thinkers and doers of the conservative movement for a symposium to identify Liberalism's greatest vulnerabilities and determine where and how to wage the War Against Liberalism. The symposium seeks to answer one significant question:
Where and how should Conservatives attack Liberalism next?

As for Mrs Cain, Good For YOU! Greta "the enabler" Van Sistern is boiling to get the exclusive interview, and she missed it big time with Mrs Cain. With few exceptions, what good does it to have a prop wife defend your shortfalls in public?

This finger pointing, and blaming the left for any of this is laughable. As a woman, I respect Mrs Cain's decision. But I would like to ask her one question.
