That is why there has NEVER been any doubt for most of us that she faked her pregnancy. Because, and trust me on this, if Sarah Palin could make us all look like fools, she would have done so many times over by now.

As a woman who has been pregnant and kept a photo diary for my own use, I still find it a little offensive and invasive to demand any woman to show her belly to strangers just to quiet rumors. If I were Kardashian, I'd say fuck off. But yes, she eats this up- no problem.

I think it's beautiful, in fact, most pregnant women get professional portraits done. One of my sons is a photographer and he loves doing these shots because his clients are happy with their bodies during pregnancy.

I can guarantee that we won't see Duchess Kate bearing her swollen belly for the world to see. She's a well-bred woman and ladies simply don't publicize photos such as these.
DeleteThe "for public consumption" photos such as the Kim Kardashian photo above are simply a symptom of the overall demise of polite behavior in our current society, a condition exacerbated by the ever increasing glorification of those who are famous but have no other accomplishments other than being famous. Do any parents still require etiquette and poise training before their daughters go forth into this world? The lowest common-denonimiator is setting the social standards in this country and I find it very sad.
For goodness sake, this Kardashian girl acquired her initial fame by being urinated on while being video taped having sex. This activity was sanctioned by her mother who promotes sales of the "sex tape". Is this the sort of behavior that any parent would want their children engaging in? Would you allow your daughter to emulate this behavior?

Also, to ask a sitting Governor to display her pregnant abdomen, even if she most likely is lying about her pregnancy, and is a person not worthy of holding office, there is such a thing as showing "respect for the office" or "respect for the position", regardless of who is holding that position. -Sarah Palin had already exposed most of her body in the swimsuit competition years ago. Being accused of lying for political gain would be a pretty good reason to show a pregnant tummy.
-I did not show much during my pregnancy. At 40 weeks many people assumed I was only 4 or 5 months along. If anyone accused me of not putting in the very real effort of pregnancy and labor (especially with no time for effing medication!!), I'd be more than happy to pop out the picture of me in an oxygen mask with the belly out and those little monitors strapped over it. DeleteLonger second toe is due to an overgrowth in the metatarsal bone. It is often speculated that this abnormality is due to a recessive gene. It would be interesting to see if any of the other family members have this condition, only from a purely scientific and genetic point of interest. It is very common in some cultures and very uncommon in others. It appears in about 25% of the general population.
I have it in the left but not right foot and my acupuncturist and my chiropractor have linked it to issues on the left side of my body, including a recurring shoulder and hip injury. Apparently a slightly longer second toe can put you just enough off balance to have you compensate for it through other areas of your body. When I was a more serious runner I'd always pad the toe of my left running shoe so that middle toe remained less dominant. That being said, this condition puts one slightly "off-balance", which I guess would fit Sarah Palin?
I know I'm slightly off balance, but I'm not ever trying to be leader of the Free World, so that's okay.

I am currently in my 4th pregnancy myself, and I can only think of one time that I posed for a photo showing my belly...one of my kids pulled up my shirt, and she and her sister were hugging my belly so my husband took a photo. However, I have at least a dozen pictures from each pregnancy in which I am wearing form-fitting maternity t-shirts that make the authenticity of my pregnancy pretty obvious. More importantly, I have many photos from the hospital shortly after I delivered each one of my children, in which I am snuggling my newborn in a hospital bed, while wearing a hospital gown and a hospital bracelet. Where are those photos, $arah?

There was no brain material to treat or retrain with therapy. Palin did not give birth to Trig, but by taking possession of him, she claimed a birth story about him that is as impossible as Terri having a cognitive brain disorder.
DeleteThere isn't a doctor who would endorse a woman experiencing labor pains and leaking amniotic fluid to give her speech and then travel for 12 hours to return to a small town hospital with no special neonatal facilities. Palin was over 40, had a history of two miscarriages, and was carrying a baby with special needs. Yet, she did not go to an emergency room in Texas. As the governor, she could have had a police escort meet her plane and get her quickly to the well equipped hospital in Anchorage. She claims to have given birth in a place that is not equipped for high risk births.
Add to all of this the fact that there are only two photos where a "pregnant" Palin poses in an empty hallway of the Legislature. It's amazing that not one flight attendant saw that same pregnant woman on a flight from Alaska to Texas or return, and they check seat belts. No one remembered offering Palin a seat belt extender or a pillow.
If you believe that Palin's birth story, then you would have to believe that after all those years, lying there in a coma, Terri Schiavo had a brain disorder that could have been cured. Both families exploit their children for profit (and for the attention it brings to them).

ReplyDeleteThese pics of Ms Kardashian don't necessarily prove she's PG. These things are easy to fake. Notice there aren't any people around to verify their authenticity. I've seen movies that showed guys with pg bellies that didn't look much different from these pics, and usually a pg mom's bellybutton looks more outty than inny.
ReplyDeleteShe's due in July, which means she still has 3 months left to go. Even at 41 weeks, my belly button never "popped," although it did flatten out (and my empty piercing stretched and got a weird stretch mark scar over it).
DeleteFor those that think it is uncalled for for us to ask about her breast-feeding her son, she's the one that opened it to fair game by bragging about nursing him during teleconferences, showing what a hard-worker she was as the chief-executive of the great state of Alaska that is north to the future.

DeleteThanks for the excellent post, Gryphen. And thanks to Lisa for providing the video. There's so much wrong with this recent speech; she's so confused and confusing. She doubled-down on the pregnancy hoax and 'death panels' while assuming the role of victim. She claims the criticism she received for speaking out about 'death panels' CUT her more deeply than any other shots taken at her.

Story in the Philadelphia press - they sold 350 tickets to the fundraiser at $150 a pop - not even enough to pay for the room in the Marriott, so the Schiavos must have taken a bath on Palin's travel and speaking fees.
ReplyDeleteBut never fear, because the Foundation doesn't actually spend much money on helping people. Last year they spent about $80,000 on salaries to Bobby Schiavo, his mother and sister, and most of the rest was spent on travel expenses for Bobby to attend 20 other fundraisers around the country. Though apparently if the doctors pronounce your loved one brain dead and you want to hang on a little longer, the Foundation will refer you to a lawyer...

I'm heartened to hear that Philadelphians are not stupid. Only 350 tickets sold! As for the Schiavos and Sarah Palin, such necro-grifting is extremely distasteful. If Sarah Palin were really a decent person, she would have left the limelight behind after quitting as governor and become a real mother to her children.

The belly has a slight rectangular line along the upper edge where you'd expect it to have a more rounded downward curve. And I read the comments from women whose belly buttons didn't protrude, but I think they're in the minority at that point in a pregnancy. This looks a bit like a non-pregnant fat gut.
ReplyDeleteBut who cares, really. Kim Kardashian is just a celeb trying to make more money, not an obsessed nutter who was trying to position herself a heartbeat away from the most powerful job in the world.
So why the media scrutiny of Kim and to some extent Beyonce, while Palin gets a pass?
It's not really all that big for someone due in June or July. Maybe it's just tacos, cheese burgers and Big Gulps. So very tasteful of the tasteless Kim to bare her belly, though. Maybe she'd like to display her engorged breasts, also, too?

ReplyDeleteMost woman don't have abortions; they don't get thousands in speaking fees and magazine covers. It wasn't like she was a poor, scared teen. She had every advantage. She was a mature, married woman with financial means (and free healthcare), and several caregivers already lined up for Piper, and someone who claims to be a Christian. That fact that she even considered termination because he had a disability is horrible.
