Donald Trump just can't quite bring himself to denounce the White Supremacists supporting him. Update!

Courtesy of Business Insider:

CNN anchor Jake Tapper repeatedly asked Donald Trump on Sunday to denounce David Duke's support for his candidacy, but Trump insisted he didn't know anything about the former KKK grand wizard.

"Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote and that of other white supremacists in this election?" Tapper asked Trump on "State of the Union."

But Trump, the Republican presidential frontrunner, said he didn't have enough information to answer the question:

"I don't know anything about David Duke, OK? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists. So I don't know. I mean, I don't know — did he endorse me or what's going on? Because I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about."

Oddly enough David Duke himself claims that Trump certainly knows him:“I think he knows who I am,” Duke said. “But he doesn’t know what I actually stand for today.”

Which is backed up by the fact that Trump referred to him by name back in 2000:

In 2000, when he ended his presidential campaign, Trump cited Duke's participation in the Reform Party as one reason he no longer wanted the party's nomination.

"The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. [Pat][ Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. [Lenora] Fulani. This is not company I wish to keep," he wrote in his statement.

"Hey look I don't know anything about this Hitler fellow that you say I remind you of. You say he's a bad guy, killed a bunch of Jews, but I didn't see it so I don't know. Don't want to condemn the guy until I get all of the facts, and by "facts" I mean input from Right Wing talk radio."

And THIS guy is leading in the race for the presidential nomination in the Republican party.

They must be so proud.

Update: So yeah now Trump is blaming an earpiece.

I guess nothing's you fault when you're Donald Trump. Right?

Anyone of Trump's age who isn't aware of who David Duke is has been living a heavily sheltered life.

This could be easily explained if Trump has dyslexia.

If Trump has dyslexia and never reads unless he is interested in the topic, he would never have known about David Duke or even the KKK in a negative way. Since Trump associates with like-minded people, nobody he pals around with have a netive opinion of the KKK.

What do you read really matters when it comes to electing a president.

Trump knows about David Duke. Read the update Gryphen posted a few hours ago.

Donald Trump DOESN'T associate just with people who have positive opinions of the KKK. He is a middle aged man who grew up in NYC and has engaged with people all over the country and all over the world. His daughter married a Jewish man and converted.

      ----------------
No, it couldn't. It is explained by the simple fact that Trump lied regarding his knowledge of the KKK and David Duke, as evidenced by his own prior statements.

You don't have to be able to read worth a damn to know which people or organizations have a generally negative or positive connotation in the culture at large, and how to respond accordingly to serve whatever your own ends are.

You do people with dyslexia a great disservice when you refuse to recognize the complex and intelligent coping strategies used and developed by people with dyslexia to ensure that they can make their way through life successfully with a full and complete knowledge of the world around them.

I think 66 is trying to say that dyslexia may explain what is going on here because Trump's world knowledge seems to be very skewed.

Trump is not stupid. He may be a con man, and he most certainly is a liar. He certainly is not well read.

Trump does not know squat about being president. That much is obvious.

With all due respect 66G, you used the "probable dyslexia" argument about the Bushes in previous threads. Now you've diagnosed in Trump. Not everything is explained by dyslexia. Nefer's post is on the money.

The Bush has dyslexia. that is a fact. There is information on the internet that Trump has dyslexia as well. 10% of the population have dyslexia. It is easy to recognize in politicians who run a national campaign.

I am not qualified to diagnose dyslexia. I am qualified to give my opinion. Having dyslexia explains so much about what is going on here.

    10. Anonymous8:26 AM

66gardeners, I usually respect your posts, but don't believe dyslexia washes as an explanation here. A person Trump's age cannot possibly be unfamiliar with the KKK. Hell, the KKK is the KKK no matter how you scramble the letters.
What the man is is a politician to the core, and one who will go to great lengths to avoid alienating any supporter if he doesn't have to.

I am not saying Trump can be defended for anything. He is a liar so the line is blurred between when he doesn't know and what he lies about knowing. You must admit there are so many areas where he seems unprepared for the complexities of being POTUS. Nothing is on paper. There is also hints on the internet that he knows he has dyslexia.

What I am saying is dyslexia may explain a lot of what is going on in his campaign. It does not explain the lying or character flaws.

The only reason Trump is running is because people have always told him how great he is. They have enabled him despite his obvious inadequacies. George Bush actually became president, not because of his qualifications but because of who he was. It can happen. If a potential president seems clueless because he has dyslexia, HELLO, he is clueless about a lot of things. Trust me I know.

You may not agree with me about whether someone has dyslexia or not, but I have a right to say I see all the signs

I also see signs of dyslexia in Sarah Palin. It seems to me to be a recipe for disaster in politicians. People need to know stuff because they know it to be real and true by reading. Relying upon what others tells you makes for disaster in a president.

      Delete
    12. Other sites confirm dyslexia. I am waiting for the diagnosis to get out.

This happened at a high school

    New York Daily News:
Ind. students held Trump cutout, chanted 'build the wall'

Students at an Indiana high school held an oversized Donald Trump cutout and chanted "build the wall" during a basketball game against a rival school with many Latino students — outraging fans and drawing national attention on social media.

The demonstrations occurred during a Friday game at Andrean High School in Merrillville against Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond.

Students often wear costumes and shout chants during the games. A group of Andrean students wore patriotic clothing, including flag bandanas and Captain America T-shirts.

One student brought a cutout showing Trump's face.

"Build the wall, build the wall," the students chanted, according to the Times of Northwest Indiana — highlighting the presidential candidate’s pledge to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Donald Trump tells TODAY's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie he's "disavowed" former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke and blamed a "very bad earpiece" for his earlier inability to repeatedly repudiate the group.

Trump claimed he believed CNN anchor Jake Tapper was asking him about "various groups" and not just the KKK during a Sunday interview.

Did Trump lose his kiss ass?

    Salon:
Donald Trump’s KKK flap has finally lost him “Morning Joe”: Even Joe Scarborough calls Trump’s latest stunt “disqualifying”.

A new poll out ahead of tomorrow’s Super Tuesday elections shows Donald Trump on the edge of majority support in the Republican party with 49 percent of the vote — but that was before his disturbingly KKK-filled weekend that turned one of his biggest fanboys in the media, Joe Scarborough, against him.

“That’s disqualifying right there,” the “Morning Joe” host said of Trump’s refusal to disavow the support of former Klu Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, who recentlyencouraged his followers to vote and work for Trump’s campaign to “meet people who are going to have the same kind of mindset that you have” and protect “your heritage"

If you read below, Trump now says he disavows David Duke but didn't say he disavows the KKK

..... “Let me tell you, I’m sitting in a house in Florida with a very bad earpiece they gave me and you can hardly hear what he was saying, but what I heard was various groups,” Trump explained. “And I don’t mind disavowing anybody, and I disavowed David Duke, and I disavowed him the day before to a major news conference, which is surprising because [Tapper] was at the major news conference, CNN was at the major news conference, and they heard me very easily disavow David Duke.”

At that news conference, Trump said, “I disavow, okay?”

During this entire campaign he has done nothing but bad mouth minorities and raise people's hatred to the foreground and use the thoroughly understandable reactions of the slandered groups as proof of what he says.

Personally, I wouldn't vote for him if he was running against Alfred E. Neuman, but I am hoping that this latest gaff will open more peoples' eyes and cut deeply into his numbers.

I don't want a racist in the White House and if he really DOESN'T know about the Klan he is too STUPID to be in there. Both stances are dangerous to the U.S.

      SCARBOROUGH: TRUMP KKK TALK 'DISQUALIFYING'

Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," suggested business mogul Donald Trump's refusal to disavow the Ku Klux Klan could disqualify him from the presidential race.

"It’s breathtaking. That is disqualifying right there," Scarborough said Monday. "To say you don’t know about the Ku Klux Klan? You don’t know about David Duke?"

“Is he really so stupid that he thinks Southerners aren’t offended by the Ku Klux Klan and David Duke?" Scarborough continued. "Is he really so ignorant of Southern voters that he thinks this is the way to their heart? To go neutral, to play Switzerland when you're talking about the Klan?"

The Republican Party’s implosion over Donald Trump’s candidacy has arrived

The implosion over Donald Trump’s candidacy that Republicans had hoped to avoid arrived so virulently this weekend that many party leaders vowed never to back the billionaire and openly questioned whether the GOP could come together this election year.

At a moment when Republicans had hoped to begin taking on Hillary Clinton — who is seemingly on her way to wrapping up the Democratic nomination — the GOP has instead become consumed by a crisis over its identity and core values that is almost certain to last through the July party convention, if not the rest of the year.

A campaign full of racial overtones and petty, R-rated put-downs grew even uglier Sunday after Trump declined repeatedly in a CNN interview to repudiate the endorsement of him by David Duke, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. Trump had disavowed Duke at a news conference on Friday, but he stammered when asked about Duke on Sunday.

7:44 is correct. You left off the period.

AND, to make matters worse, "by the by" IS correct! Google it. It can be either by the by or by the bye. Just because something isn't used often, doesn't make it incorrect.

Trump Throws A Tantrum And Threatens To Run Third Party Because Marco Rubio Is Mean

...To summarize, Donald Trump is throwing a tantrum and threatening to run third party because Marco Rubio and the GOP are being mean to him. What seems to have gotten under Trump’s Boehneresque orange skin were Rubio’s claims that Trump is a fake tough guy, who inherited $200 million, and wet himself at the Republican debate.

On Friday, Rubio said, “He called me Mr. Meltdown. Let me tell you something, last night in the debate during one of the breaks, two of the breaks, he went backstage, and he was having a meltdown. First he had one of those makeup things applying around his mustache because he had one of those sweat mustaches. Then, then he asked for a full-length mirror, I don’t know why because the podium goes up to here. I don’t know why maybe to make sure his pants weren’t wet. Then I see him pacing back and forth, and then he’s huddled in the corner talking to somebody, and he’s like waving his arms up and down and the person’s trying to calm him down.”

The phrase not treating me well is Trump code for being criticized. If anyone challenges or criticizes Donald Trump, they are not treating him well. Donald Trump is throwing a tantrum and threatening to take his ball and run as an Independent. Trump is challenging Richard Nixon for the title of the most thin-skinned frontrunner is presidential election history.

The GOP Establishment Is Angry At Trump For Stealing Their Hate

What bothers the GOP establishment is Trump repeating on the national stage what they have preached for 8 years in semi-isolated environs

...It is curious that after Donald Trump won a couple of primaries, everywhere one turns there are stories about the Republican establishment’s anguished fits over the hotel magnate taking control of the party. However “concerned” the party elite and their donors may be, it is more likely they are upset that Trump swooped in and took advantage of the establishment’s eight year propaganda and conditioning campaign; the one that created the Donald’s passionate supporters.

What is a mystery, really, is why the Party elite and establishment are not wholeheartedly embracing Trump as the RNC’s natural standard bearer. He is, by any measure, the epitome of a neo-conservative hero and the perfect representation of everything Republicans have promised the base they would deliver for at least the past four years; likely the past eight years since Barack Obama became a national figure.

The only thing Trump is doing that bothers the GOP establishment is repeating on the national stage, at rallies and on the campaign trail what the party has preached for eight years and what every other Republican has said in semi-isolated environs. Remember, since Barack Obama won the presidency in 2008, the Republican establishment and their powerful money machine have fostered and exploited hate, white-rage, and paranoia to incite its base and subsequently set the stage for a Trump-like character’s rise to power.

      Good points.

It is also worth noting that when the republicans do express reservations about Trump, it is that he is really a liberal. Him being a racist doesn't seem to matter to them.

If he doesn't get the nomination, I have every certainty that Sanders will oblige Clinton to take a more progressive turn in the campaign. If she wants to win, that is what she must do.

So many times we've heard Trump say a version of "I don't even know who he is," and in most cases there is video or written interview remarks showing Trump as quite aware of who the someone is and even that he has in the past interacted with that person. A list could be composed.

He keeps calling others liars but he lies in some way at almost every public event and in almost every interview, and one if the lies is this denial of knowing someone or of being aware of some kind of incident/conditions that he ought to be aware of and surely is or, if he isn't, he should be embarrassed that he isn't aware.

Poor Sarah. After almost a week of not posting anything, and after not hearing a word of acknowledgment from Trump while he's stumped, she finally has some new pro-Trump comments on Facebook. Guess she just hasn't anything much to say if it's not to repeat herself about Trump.

Online, there's been nothing meaningful (whether pos or neg) written about her since her Iowa and Oklahoma freak show. All that's been written about is how Trump spelled her name wrong and how Fox mocked her during a show break that had an open mic.
