Illinois Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth gave birth to a baby girl Monday, her office announced, the first US senator to do so while in office. 

"Bryan, Abigail and I couldn't be happier to welcome little Maile Pearl as the newest addition to our family and we're deeply honored that our good friend Senator (Daniel) Akaka was able to bless her name for us -- his help in naming both of our daughters means he will always be with us," Duckworth said in her office's statement. 

In her statement, Duckworth used the event to advocate that rules should be changed so she can bring her baby to Senate votes. 

Duckworth had her first child in 2014, when she was serving in the House of Representatives. 

An aide close to Duckworth told CNN she's doing well and taking 12 weeks to bond with her new daughter and take care of her family. She's staying in Washington, DC, for her maternity leave and is available to vote as needed.

And now she is not only Senator, but she has just given birth, and intends to remain close enough to her place of work to vote on important bills that might come up while she is supposed to be recovering and spending time with her baby.

I am a huge fan of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but she just might have to hand her golden lasso and tiara over to Tammy Duckworth, because this woman is a whole new level of superhero.

Married former White House communications director Jason Miller has fathered a son with Trump transition adviser A.J. Delgado following a wild night out in Las Vegas. 

Page Six exclusively reported that Miller and Delgado went to a Las Vegas strip club with members of the media the night before Trump’s final debate against Hillary Clinton in late October.

Miller confirmed the birth of his child with Delgado and said his wife, astonishingly, had accepted the news. Miller said in a statement to Page Six, “My wife and I, along with our two daughters, are excited to welcome William into the world and into our family, and we appreciate the well wishes we’ve received from so many.” 

Sources said Miller and Delgado have not talked since she revealed the news of her pregnancy and are communicating only through lawyers.

Once I got over the shock that this Jason Miller guy found not one, but two women willing to touch his penis, I then decided that there needs to be some kind of federal agency which restricts people dumb enough to support Donald Trump from banging each other.

I know, I know that smacks of social engineering and is rife with moral and ethical challenges, but think of the cost to humanity if we DON'T do something about it.

If these homely, stupid people keep bumping uglies and making tiny versions of homely, stupid people this entire planet may someday look like the crowds at a Kentucky State Fair or something.

Holy crap!

I don't think any politician in history has been elected without at least pretending that they like babies.

So yes, for those wondering, Bristol Palin is actually in Hawaii with her newborn daughter.

I was not sure what when I first saw the picture so I reached out to some sources, and yep she went to Hawaii alright.

I don't think she took Tripp however, I think he is with Levi and Sunny right now.

So the question to be asked is, what in the hell possesses somebody to take a newborn on a trip to Hawaii?

I mean it's not like Sailor can enjoy the ocean. Or the sun. Or the local culture.

In fact she will have no memory whatsoever that she even went.

All I know is that I wish I had a job like Bristol keeps claiming to have, because I have not been on a vacation for more than fives years now.

Got into a debate today. Someone challenged the notion that Marines guard the gates of heaven. It got spirited of course. The wrap up is... they do, I am certain of it.

Okay this has so many layers of ignorance that it actually makes my brain hurt just to read it.

First off of course is that the concept of heaven is a primitive artifice used to control the behaviors of the simple minded.

Secondly if there WERE a Heaven, access to it is by invitation only from what I understand, so who exactly are the Marines supposed to be guarding it against?

And thirdly, according to legend, the place was created, maintained, and let's assume protected by an omniscient creature of infinite power so who exactly poses a viable threat?

I know that Dakota is not exactly the sharpest pair of gardening shears in the shed, but damn this kind of thinking is something I would expect from a small child, not a grown man.

And this just makes me all the more concerned about this poor child.

And I personally find it a little odd that a child that cannot be more than about six or seven days old in this photo looks so big and pink skinned.

Like I said some things are simply conspiracy theories, but then others are actual honest to goodness conspiracies.

Oregon couple who chose faith healing over medicine and allowed their infant son to die are on their way to prison.

Dale and Shannon Hickman don’t believe in doctors. Because of this religious conviction, set forth by the cult the couple belongs to, Oregon City’s Followers of Christ Church, the Hickmans let their premature infant die after being being born at home rather than seek medical help. As a result of this decision, the couple was convicted of manslaughter in 2011. 

The child, named David Hickman, weighed just 3 lbs, 7 ounces at birth. His tragically short life was only 9 hours long. According to reports, the Hickmans went to Shannon’s mother for help when she began having contractions more than two months prior to her due date. The couple says they didn’t notice anything was wrong with the baby until just minutes prior to his death — a claim which an expert on this subject has called a lie. Instead of calling a hospital like most rational people, they prayed over the dying baby and “anointed” his head with oil. 

Both halves of the Hickman couple will spend a minimum of 6 years and 3 months in prison for their actions, which is light, considering the fact that their child lost his life over their idiotic beliefs. The judge in the case, Robert Herndon, called one of the cult’s midwives “one of the most dangerous people in Oregon.”

Okay so here's m question.

Where is the outrage from the "pro-life" community over this?

After all this is not a fetus, this is an actual child, born into the world, and denied a life due to the superstitious beliefs and ignorance of his parents.

You would think this would anger them beyond all measure, and yet not a peep.

A lesbian couple in Michigan says a pediatrician has refused to care for their infant because of their sexual orientation. 

Krista and Jami Contreras said Dr. Vesna Roi of Eastlake Pediatrics in Roseville, Michigan, had initially agreed to be the pediatrician to their daughter, Bay. But after "much prayer," Roi had a change of heart. 

When the couple brought their 6-day-old baby into the office for a wellness check-up, another doctor told them that Roi would not be seeing them after all, according to the Detroit Free Press. 

"I was completely dumbfounded," Krista, who is the baby's biological mother, told the newspaper. "We just looked at each other and said, 'Did we hear that correctly?'"

The other doctor did offer the couple his services so apparently there are still some doctors who understand what the Hippocratic Oath is all about.

Doctor Roi, by the way, also offered a rather lame explanation for her behavior.

Apparently it was God's fault: 

"After much prayer following your prenatal, I felt that I would not be able to develop the personal patient doctor relationship that I normally do with my patients," wrote Roi, who has an average of three out of five stars at Healthgrades and four out of five on Vitals based on limited reviews. 

Roi apologized for not telling them in person, and said they were welcome in the clinic, but that Bay would have to be seen by the other doctor at the practice. 

"Please know that I believe that God gives us free choice and I would never judge anyone based on what they do with that free choice," Roi wrote. "Again, I am sorry for the hurt and angry feelings that were created by this. I hope you can accept my apology."

So to be clear the doctor prayed about it, received some sort of clarity, and then refused to take this infant on as a patient.

Sounds like she believes God told her to reject this child to me.

Wow, and here I thought that the Christian god was all about love and acceptance. 

Couple faces charges after video found showing their baby putting gun in its mouth while they encourage the child to say "pow."

Indiana couple has been charged with child neglect after cell phone video obtained by authorities recorded the pair telling a one-year-old baby to put a gun in her mouth and instructing her to make sounds like the weapon was firing, police said. 

Authorities in Evansville said on Friday they found the video on the phone of Michael Barnes, 19, who was arrested Thursday after he agreed to sell a handgun to an undercover officer through a transaction made on social media, Evansville police said in a statement. 

During what police called a “follow up investigation,” officers looking through Barnes’ phone discovered the video of the one-year-old baby putting a gun in her mouth. In the background, two adults, identified as Barnes and the toddler’s mother, Toni Wilson, 22, encouraged the child to play with the weapon, police said. 

“Barnes can be heard telling the child to say “pow” on multiple occasions while the child plays with the gun,” police said. “The video also shows the child placing the muzzle of the gun in her mouth. At no point does Barnes try to stop the child from playing with the gun,” the statement said.

I quite literally do not know what to say here.

If you don't mind I think I will just sit here cradling my head in my hands for a little while.

The NY Post is Rupert Murdoch's signature right wing rag in New York and it often is as offensive as many of the pundits that appear on Fox News. Today's front page is no different as it openly attacks Chelsea Clinton's new born baby. 

In their Page Six celebrity gossip section, they posted a normal story of the birth, but somehow that didn't translate into the front page we are seeing.Their hatred and fear of Hillary Clinton now extends to new born babies.

Bill and Hillary Clinton are grandparents. The couple's daughter, Chelsea Clinton, has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Charlotte. 

Clinton spokesman Kamyl Bazbaz said the child was born on Friday but did not immediately provide additional details. The couple lives in New York City. The Clintons quickly retweeted their daughter's message on Twitter but did not immediately comment on the baby's arrival.

One can only imagine how upset this will make the Right Wing.

I mean come on, she finished college, got a job, and then only got pregnant AFTER she was married.

How un-American is that?

Well at least I know who I get to vote for in 2052.

A new father is dead after what appeared to be a bizarre, accidental shooting Tuesday night. 

Steven Justin Ayers, 33, and his wife had gathered family members to celebrate the homecoming of their 3-day-old baby — born on Father’s Day. But the celebration at 2502 Michigan Court ended shortly after 6 p.m. when a stray bullet entered the home from more than 200 feet away, struck Ayers in the back of the head and killed him instantly. 

Moments earlier, Charles Edward Shisler, 62, had picked up a loaded 9mm pistol in his residence, adjacent to the Ayers’ home, and the gun discharged. Shisler was in his backyard at 3708 W. 25th St. by the time Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived minutes after the shooting, according to arrest reports. 

Shisler was initially uncooperative with deputies and “extremely belligerent,” according to arrest reports. While in custody, waiving his right to remain silent, Shisler told officers the shooting was accidental. 

“The damn gun doesn’t usually shoot,” Shisler’s arrest report quoted him as saying. “You have to squeeze the hell out of the trigger to shoot it.”

Sitting in you home gazing lovingly at your newborn baby, and then suddenly dead.

Just another day in the home of the brave, and the land of the 2nd Amendment.

Russian parents facing jail time after taking baby to church for a baptism instead of to a hospital after car accident.

A couple in Russia face jail after their religious zeal compelled them to drive their child, injured in a car crash, to church for an urgent baptism rather than to hospital. 

The two-month-old infant was dead by the time it was delivered into the hands of the priest, Fontanka.ru news website said Sunday. 

The boy sustained a brain injury in a minor crash in St. Petersburg on Saturday despite being in a child safety seat, the report said. 

The worried parents sped him up to the church because “otherwise he would be denied the Kingdom of Heaven,” investigators cited them as saying, Fontanka.ru reported. 

Now the two parents, both in their forties, are being investigated for “failure to assist a person in danger,” punishable with up to a year in prison.

This is usually the part where I go off on the ignorance  of these people, but I will let a spokesman for the church do that instead.  

“This is superstition, not religion,” an Orthodox Church spokesman told Fontanka.ru. “They should have gone to the hospital, it’s only human.”

Let's try that whole singing to the crying baby thing again.

Since so many of you did not like yesterday's video of a mother singing to her crying baby, I thought I would try it again. This time it is both parents, and I think you will enjoy the outcome much better.

Never too young to appreciate music. Baby's response to her mother's singing is precious beyond belief.

Mom has quite a set of pipes, and the baby's roller coaster of emotions is somewhat amazing to watch.

Here is that political ad aimed at John Boehner that every body is talking about.

During the commercial breaks of Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots, viewers in Boehner's district will catch a 30-second ad with a close up of a wailing baby. 

"Speaker John Boehner didn't get his way on shutting down health care reform," the ad's narrator says. "So, he's shut down the government and hurt the economy." House Majority PAC, a group that backs Democratic candidates, released the ad on Friday. "Speaker Boehner didn't get his way and so, like a child, he threw a Tea Party-inspired temper tantrum and shut down the federal government," Andy Stone, the group's communications director, said in a statement. 

The new ad is one of many campaigns launched by groups on both sides of the aisle in recent days to fault Democrats or Republicans for the government shutdown.

Okay I understand the sentiment behind this, but here's the thing. I am somebody who feels very empathetic toward children, ESPECIALLY crying babies. 

My first instinct is not to point and make fun of them for crying, my first instinct is to comfort them and make them feel better. And I KNOW that is probably how most females are going to respond to it as well.

Speaking just for myself I cannot stand to hear a baby cry and have nobody actively trying to make it all better, even if they are throwing a tantrum. So for me this is not going to be terribly effective.

I would MUCH prefer that he were portrayed as an arrogant asshole, you know much more true to life, than as an unhappy baby who is crying out in frustration and despair.

It's a boy!

Prince William and Kate have just had a boy.

Here is the announcement: 

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm. 

The baby weighs 8lbs 6oz. 

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. 

The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news. 

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight. 

I am not much of a royal watcher myself but I know that this will top the news for the rest of the day.

I send them my warm thoughts and best wishes.

After all I am a big fan of babies myself you know.

Levi Johnston's unborn daughter's name revealed. Breeze Beretta Johnston. Oh good God!

Levi Johnston's second child will be a girl named Breeze Beretta, his pregnant girlfriend, Sunny Oglesby, told Inside Edition in an interview to air Wednesday. Beretta is the name of an Italian firearms manufacturer, and Oglesby confirmed that the child will be named after a gun. 

She also talked about the accidental nature of the pregnancy. 

"We were out at the cabin for like, four days, and forgot the birth control," she said. 

Johnston told Inside Edition that he plans on doing things differently with Oglesby than he did with Bristol Palin, the mother of their son, Tripp. 

"I'm actually in love...not doing it just because we had a kid together," he said.

Okay well you know that last part is going to piss off a certain failed author/professional abstinence hypocrite/DWTS cheat.

I am not exactly thrilled with Levi's choice for a baby name, but it DOES fit his personality I guess.

I am kind of surprised to hear there are more of these Inside Edition interviews that have not yet aired. I have been hearing that Levi is hoping to get the information that he initially wanted to come out in THESE interviews out through another more reputable news source.

I hope he succeeds soon as, in my opinion, these revelations are important for him, for Sunny, AND for Tripp.
