When the High Sparrow was first introduced last season I did not make anything of it, but now when I watch him onscreen I keep imagining his lines delivered in Sanders' voice.
And as the High Sparrow becomes ever more drunk with power, and outwardly arrogant that his cause it just, the comparison just becomes unshakeable for me.
Now if you are a GOT fan you already know exactly who is being referred to in the title, but if you are not, and you plan to watch sometime in the future, then you seriously need to stop right now and not read any further.
I am not at all sure that people who aren't as addicted to Game of Thrones as I am will like this nearly as much as I do, but hey it's worth a shot.
I actually thought it was a little stupid at first (I don't like Coldplay.), however it just kept getting better and better and by the end I was really loving it.
However tonight my second favorite addictive television experience returns so I don't have to resort to anything extreme like starting a relationship, taking up stamp collecting, or cleaning my house to fill the gap.
And fortunately I have almost completely recovered from last season's "Red Wedding," an episode so shocking that it damn near traumatized many of its long time viewers.
Besides, I am sure that after last season's culling that most of my favorite characters are safe this time around. Right?
Let me just tell you that I am a HUGE fan of movies that have twist endings and series where even the heroes may suffer and even die for the sake of the storyline.
But NOTHING prepared me for what happened last night on GOT, an episode referred to by fans as the "Red Wedding."
I quite literally sat in my chair with my jaw open, unable to fathom the carnage that spilled over the screen.
Everybody that I had come to really care about in the show was suddenly being butchered like cattle right before my eyes.
I kid you not that it took me much of the morning to start to type about anything as mundane as politics while my heart ached for imaginary characters in a mythical land, that seemed to me, at least for the moment, so much MORE important than what was happening in the actual world.
And as you can see that was a reaction shared by many others.
Okay well now that I have shared my pain with all of you poor people we can move on to more important things. If you are not a GOT fan then I apologize for the distraction. But then again seriously, why aren't you?
