The Republican Party's stranglehold on the House of Representatives may be crumbling, according to a new analysis by the Cook Political Report.
While the GOP has its largest House majority in more than eight decades, Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) at the top of the ticket could seriously jeopardize the majority that has been built.
In its analysis of congressional races, the Cook Political Report moved 10 races Friday closer to Dem favor with the assumption that Cruz or Trump could have a major affect on down-ballot races from Virginia to California.
In a blog post Friday, analyst David Wasserman wrote "Democrats would need to pick up 30 seats, a daunting challenge given the GOP's immense redistricting advantage and the vaporization of swing districts. But all cycle, Democrats have daydreamed about Republicans nominating an extremely polarizing presidential candidate, and suddenly it's almost certain they will get their wish."
I actually think that might be conservative, and if we end up with a huge fight at the Republican convention, or if Donald Trump goes third party, than all bets are off and a Democratic majority in both the Senate AND the House becomes a real possibility.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Colorado Republicans punish controversial "Dr. Chaps" who claimed that a pregnant woman whose baby was cut from her body was being cursed by God.
Courtesy of 9 News:
House Republicans have decided to discipline state Rep. Gordon Klingenschmitt (R-Colorado Springs) by removing him from one of his two committee assignments in the wake of his controversial comments about an attack on a pregnant woman in Longmont.
The episode led to public embarrassment for party leaders, who quickly sought to distance themselves from Klingenschmitt, a former Navy chaplain who goes by the screen name "Dr. Chaps" on his religious streaming TV show.
He'll be pulled from the house health, insurance, and environment committee, but remain a member of the house local government committee.
"I was very disturbed by Representative Klingenschmitt's comments last week and want to reiterate that his comments do not represent our caucus and he does not speak for our caucus. As House Minority Leader my ability to discipline a member of our caucus is limited. Representative Klingenschmitt's conduct warranted his removal from the committee," House Minority Leader Brian DelGrosso (R-Loveland) said in a statement.
Personally I think this is a weak response, but I guess we should be pleased that at least these Republicans recognize what a horrific statement this superstitious asshole made.
For those who don't remember the story, here is what Klingenschmitt said:
"This is the curse of God upon America for our sin of not protecting innocent children in the womb and part of that curse for our rebellion against God as a nation is that our pregnant women are ripped open," Klingenschmitt said.
Like I said a weak response.

A Wiccan priestess has been invited to give the invocation to the Iowa House of Representatives. Oh the Republicans will love this!
Courtesy of KCRG:
On April 9, Deborah Maynard, a member of the People’s Church Unitarian Universalist, will travel to Des Moines to deliver her blessing.
According to Maynard, her prayer will make history.
“I didn’t really think it was that big of a deal, until I did more research on it,” she said. “The more research I did on it, that’s when I found that it’s never been done in a state government body before by a Wiccan.”
A 2014 Supreme Court ruling allowed for sectarian prayer before government bodies, as long as the prayer is inclusive.
And democratic representative Liz Bennett of Cedar Rapids, who invited Maynard to give the blessing, said inclusion is her goal.
“I think there are people across the nation who don’t realize how diverse Iowa really is, and so I’m proud that this is another first for us,” Bennett said.
You know I'm starting to like Iowa more and more lately.
I dated a Wiccan once. She was pretty much like everybody else actually, except she had no inhibitions.
And I mean NO inhibitions.
If that was a product of her belief system this should be a lively invocation indeed.

Colorado just elected an exorcist to their House of Representatives. And here you thought YOUR state had gone off the deep end.
Courtesy of Raw Story:
The radical anti-LGBT religious activist Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt won a seat in the Colorado House of Representatives with almost 70 percent of the vote, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
The former Navy chaplain’s victory was not surprising, as Republicans outnumber Democrats by a 2-to-1 margin in the El Paso County district Klingenschmitt now represents.
The notoriously anti-LGBT Klingenschmitt came to national attention last year, when he attempted to exorcise a “demonic spirit” from President Barack Obama.
“We pray against the domestic enemies of the Constitution,” Klingenschmitt said, his eyes tightly closed, “against this demon of tyranny who is using the White House occupant. That demonic spirit is oppressing us.”
Here is the video of Klingenschmitt "exorcising" the demonic spirit from the White House.
As you can see it was clearly not a REAL exorcism (There was not green puke or anything), and if it was it was the laziest one that I have ever witnessed, and I have actually seen a fair number.
Here is more from Think Progress:
Here is a collection of choice Klingenschmitt quotes:
1. “Almighty God, today we pray imprecatory prayers from Psalm 109 against the enemies of religious liberty…who recently issued a press release attacking me personally… Let their days be few, and replace them with godly people. Plunder their fields and seize their assets. Cut off their descendants. And remember their sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
2. “She gave her life to Jesus. She welcomed the Holy Spirit. And I looked into her eyes as she began to weep and I said, “You foul spirit of lesbianism, this woman has renounced you, come out of her in Jesus’ name,’ and she began to wrestle with that and suddenly her eyes began to bug out and then she began to weep, and weep, and weep as the Holy Spirit forgave her sins… She was baptized the next day and then she became one of the best evangelists in our church, started carrying around her Bible telling all of her friends about Jesus and she started dating boys.”
3. “Almighty God, please bless Lowes Home Improvement stores for their wise decision to stop advertising for the TV show All-American Muslim, which is nothing but Islamic propaganda designed to whitewash the fact that practitioners of militant Islam not only slaughtered over 3000 American civilians, but routinely kill millions of Christians worldwide.”
4. “Sen. Franken recently released a video in which he blames the high rate of suicide among homosexual teens on school bullying, by abusing these sad tragedies as his own propaganda tool. By spreading even more lies to more teens, Franken is ultimately causing more suicides. Teen suicide is tragic enough without Senator Franken recruiting more kids into homosexuality, which causes depression, self-hatred, self-rejection and self-murder.”
5. “Sexual harrassment [sic] is banned in the military, unless you’re a homosexual abusing a Christian, then it’s openly encouraged.”
6. “Federal bureaucrats will enforce Obamacare to exterminate the elderly, systematically. We must take a stand.”
7. “Picture this: four NFL players coming out as gay, and then this whole youth movement of coaches recruiting children into the homosexual lifestyle and punishing Christians because they voice an opposition to that sort of thing in the locker room… that is a demonic use of the sporting industry.”
8. “Is bestiality now a perceived sexual orientation? Well since it’s not defined in the ENDA bill, yes it is!”
9. “An atheist chaplain would be the perfect vehicle for convincing wounded warriors that they should end their lives because there’s nothing in the future and there’s nothing now, so why not just save money and kill themselves.”
10. “In other words, it doesn’t matter what your skin color is, it matters what’s inside of your heart. And if your heart is full of corruption or sin or immorality — in this case, homosexuality — then you should be discriminated against.” (There are more of these over at Think Progress.)
Holy cow this guy makes Ted Cruz and Louie Gohmert seem rational.
What the hell Colorado? Did nobody check this guy's biography, or do some Coloradans like their wing nutty politicians with extra nuts?
I swear if we do not do something to keep these superstitious idiots out of office, our country is doomed.
I mean what's next, a President who bases his decisions on advice from an Astrologer?
Oh wait.......
