Bernie Sanders' wife explains that there will be no financial disclosure. "Why bother?"

Sen. Bernie Sanders has pushed hard for transparency on U.S. trade and campaign finance, but has been far less aggressive in disclosing his own personal finances. 

Now his wife and campaign confidante, Jane O'Meara Sanders, is defending the senator's decision not to file a candidate personal finance disclosure and talking about the purchase of a new vacation home. 

Sanders and his campaign asked the Federal Election Commission for two 45-day extensions, in mid-May and late June, on filing the personal finance disclosures candidates are usually required to produce, and then decided not to file at all once he dropped out of the race and endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Jane Sanders confirmed Thursday. 

"I guess our campaign just said 'why bother'," said the wife of the Vermont independent senator who challenged Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

Jane Sanders went on to explain that there was really no new information about their finances to share anyway.

Speaking of no new financial information Jane also talked about that new house they purchased.

On another financial matter, Jane Sanders said she and her husband paid cash — $575,000 — for the four-bedroom summer house they recently bought in North Hero, Vermont, on the Lake Champlain shore. She said she sold her share of her family's long-time vacation home in Bridgton, Maine, to her brother for $150,000, added some money from her retirement account and from an advance her husband got on a book he is writing to come up with the money to buy the couple's third home. 

They also own property in Burlington, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.

Oh so their share of the family vacation home only came to $150,000. Interesting.

In other, completely unrelated news Sanders is still accepting donations for "Our Revolution" which is scheduled to launch next week: 

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will address supporters on Aug. 24 to tout "Our Revolution," a new organization intended to harness the energy of his supporters and help progressive political candidates across the country.

The independent senator also wants to empower “the next generation of progressive leaders by inspiring, recruiting and supporting progressive candidates across the entire spectrum of government – from school board to U.S. Senate.”

Damn, I am getting such a feeling of deja vu here.

A failed campaign, a new house, a PAC dedicated to "changing politics in America." Hmm, where have I seen all of this before?

Bernie Sanders' wife Jane wishes out loud, on Fox News, that the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton's e-mails would hurry up.

Bernie Sanders’ wife Jane lamented the slow pace of the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state Thursday. 

“It would be nice if the FBI moved it along,” Sanders said.

First off it is pretty shitty that Jane Sanders is feeding into this Right Wing fantasy that Hillary Clinton will be indicted.

Secondly she said this on freaking Fox News where all of those Right Wing nutjobs are waiting for their daily ration of conspiracy theory flavored red meat.

Just a couple of reminders, there is NO evidence that the FBI has any intention of indicting Hillary Clinton.

There is also NO evidence that her e-mail server was hacked. (However the State Department e-mails were hacked.)

And consider this for a moment. IF the President thought, even for an instant, that Hillary was in danger of being indicted don't you think he would have encouraged Joe Biden to jump into the race so that there would be somebody out there who could protect his legacy?

Because I can guarantee that Bernie Sanders has no intention of doing so.

No I found this whole interview on Fox News to be in incredibly poor taste.

For the spokesperson of an ostensibly liberal candidate, who claims to want to stick to substantive policy discussions, to be throwing gasoline onto the radical Right Wing conspiracy bonfire is inexcusable.

Jane Sanders refusing to release tax forms unless Hillary Clinton first releases speech transcripts.

Bernie and Jane Sanders won't release their back tax returns until Democratic rival Hillary Clinton releases the transcripts of her Wall Street speeches, Jane Sanders said Tuesday afternoon. 

Bernie Sanders has repeatedly called on the Clinton campaign to release her speeches in an effort to show she's aligned with powerful Wall Street interests. 

But he has been slow to answer Clinton's demand to release his tax returns, saying in a CNN debate earlier this month that his wife handles their financial affairs and has been too busy campaigning. The Sanders made public their 2014 return the next evening, showing they earned nearly $206,000 and paid about $28,000 in federal taxes that year. 

Asked Tuesday when the campaign plans to issue prior years' returns, Jane Sanders told CNN's Wolf Blitzer they will wait to see whether Clinton will disclose her transcripts.

Okay two things.

First the Sanders' campaign promised that they would release these tax returns to the media, so they lied.

And second ALL serious presidential candidates release their tax information, while NONE of them have ever been asked to provide transcripts for paid speeches.

This transcript thing seems like a new hurdle specifically invented for Hillary Clinton, and both the Sanders' campaign and Right Wing media outlets are mythologizing them like Donald Trump once mythologized President Obama's birth certificate.

In the opinion of Hillary's enemies once these transcripts are revealed to the public it will destroy her campaign. Just like they are convinced that the FBI is only seconds away from indicting her and the Benghazi committee is on the verge of revealing that she shot those four Americans herself.

On a similar note the Sander's campaign is now asking for an extension on Bernie's personal financial disclosure until after the California primaries.

Okay you know the one thing about Bernie that I have always defended is his integrity.

But there is something going on here that is fairly bothersome.

After all there is no doubt that after California we will all know for an absolute fact that Bernie Sanders is dead in the water, so essentially he is putting this off until a time when nobody will be asking to see it anymore.
