What we know: Explosion in New York City. Second device found intact. Donald Trump cannot be trusted with information.

Courtesy of CNN:

Police are hunting for answers on what caused an explosion that injured 29 people in New York's Chelsea neighborhood, shortly before a second suspicious device was found nearby.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters early indications are that the explosion at 23rd Street and 6th Avenue in Manhattan at about 8.30 p.m. Saturday "was an intentional act."

But, he said, "there's no specific and credible threat against New York City at this time from any terror organization."

Investigators believe the blast was caused by an explosive device in or near a dumpster, a law enforcement source told CNN.

There also another device found nearby:

Just blocks away from the explosion, a suspicious device was found at 27th Street, according to multiple local and federal law enforcement officials.

The object was a pressure cooker with dark colored wiring protruding, connected by silver duct tape to what appears to be a cellphone, officials said. A piece of paper with writing on it was found nearby.

There is as of yet no evidence that the explosion and the pressure cooker device are connected, and the police are still gathering evidence.

However the fact that the police were not yet ready to issue an official explanation for the blast did not stop a certain loudmouth presidential candidate.

“I must tell you that just before I got off the plane, a bomb went off in New York. And nobody knows exactly what’s going on. But boy, we are living in a time — we better get very tough, folks. We better get very, very tough,” Trump told his supporters in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“It just happened,” he added. “So we’ll find out, but it’s a terrible thing going on in our world and in our country. And we are going to get tough and smart and vigilant. And we’re going to end it. We’re going to end it. We’ll see what it is. We’ll see what it is.”

About two hours later, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference that the explosion on 23rd Street appeared to be the result of an “intentional” act and that there was no indication it was linked to terrorism. According to de Blasio, it was “too early” to say whether a bomb caused the explosion. The NYPD is also investigating a second location on 27th Street.

You know typically law enforcement professionals discourage folks from speculating until there is evidence to back up any one conclusion. Especially if that person is a public figure or political candidate whose speculation can result in widespread panic.

And remember folks THIS is the guy who wants access to confidential information about this nation's security.

Train carrying crude oil derails, and explodes, causing the evacuation of residents in a one mile radius.

Damn look at that!

Courtesy of the Charleston Daily Mail:

Residents who were near the derailment of a crude oil train in Fayette County say it shook and rocked their community like a Biblical judgment.

Around 1:20 p.m. Monday, a CSX train carrying crude oil from North Dakota’s Bakken formation derailed in the Mount Carbon area of Fayette County, sending oil tankers off the tracks, with some reaching the Kanawha River.

The train, consisting of two locomotives and 109 rail cars, was en route to Yorktown, Va. As of Monday evening, it was unknown how much oil spilled from the train.

According to a statement on its website, CSX is “working with first responders to address the fire, to determine how many rail cars derailed, and to deploy environmental protective measures and monitoring on land, air and in the nearby Kanawha River. The company also is working with public officials and investigative agencies to address their needs.”

It was also reported that residents within a one mile radius had to be evacuated and the fire burned for over nine hours.

The Governor of West Virgina, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, declared a state of emergency.

According to NPR two local water treatment plants closed their intakes and have asked residents to conserve water as thousands of gallons of crude oil pour out of ruptured tank cars.

Oil spills, explosions, contaminated water. Gee you know what might be helpful right about now?

A new source of energy.

AR-15 accidentally discharges, causing room full of ammunition to explode, killing father and his 12 year old son.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Officials in Tennessee say that a father and his 12-year-old son died over the weekend after an AR-15 assault-style rifle accidentally discharged, causing a fire and then a series of explosions in a room full of ammunition.

WBBJ-TV reported on Monday that Tennessee State Bomb and Arson Investigators, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Henderson County Sheriff’s Department were all looking into the Sunday deaths 48-year-old Terry York and his son, Luke.

According to family members, York’s AR-15 rifle accidentally discharged while he was in a back room of their home showing it off to some friends. The discharge ignited a small fire, which “did not seem too threatening at first,” they told WBBJ-TV. The blaze apparently grew out of control after Luke entered the room to help his father put out fire.

That’s when witnesses started hearing explosions.

“It was just like one right after another,” neighbor Kathleen Glass recalled. “One explosion right after another. I just don’t have the words for it because I can not imagine having to go through something like this.”

The family said that York stored a lot of ammunition in the room where the fire started, but officials insisted that they would conduct a full investigation before coming to any conclusions.

Usually I would say that this man had this coming to him for being so incredibly reckless, but the boy did not deserve to lose his life due to his father's ignorance.

A whole house full of guns and ammunition and  rather than keep them safe, it ultimately ended their life.

How many times have we seen that same scenario play itself out?

Man blows up family dog because it "had the devil in it."

Courtesy of KOIN:

A father with children in the house who was preparing for “the Rapture” blew up his family’s Labrador Retriever because the devil was inside the dog, court documents showed.

Christopher Dillingham, 45, allegedly attached an explosive device to his dog and detonated it around 4 a.m. Sunday outside their home.

Skamania County Sheriff Dave Brown, who lives nearby, said the explosion woke him up.

“It sounded like a high-power rifle outside my window,” he said.

A slew of 911 calls sent deputies to Dillingham’s home. They found the remains of the dog strewn about the yard and arrested Dillingham on the spot.

Documents obtained by KOIN 6 News show Dillingham told Skamania County deputies “the world is going to end” because of a nuclear strike and he was preparing.

When they asked him why he was throwing items out of his house and onto his lawn, he said he believed “the souls of demons” were inside the metal objects in the house, the documents said.

His ex-girlfriend, he told the deputies, gave him the dog, named Cabella, and “put the devil in it.” He allegedly told the deputies he made the explosive device on his home work bench using black powder from fireworks.

He then allegedly strapped it around the dog’s neck and fed the dog treats to keep it from trying to wriggle out of the bomb. He also allegedly told the deputies he stepped behind a wall before triggering the bomb because he did not want to get injured by flying debris.

The dog was decapitated.

Well it could have been worse I guess, at least he did not think his children were possessed by the devil.

However the fact that there are people in this day and age who actually think that possession by demons and devils is a REAL thing, and who are preparing for the Rapture as if its impending arrival is a reality, should be troubling to EVERY person living in the world today.

This kind of suspension of critical thinking is frightening, ESPECIALLY when you consider that the man is parenting children who are using him as a role model to help them to understand and interact with the world around them.

Without the cover of religion to camouflage this obvious delusional thinking, this man may have received help much earlier, and in time to save a dog who did nothing to deserve its fate.

Things that you cannot get put in jail for in Alaska, exploding 300 lbs of explosives that do $15,000 of damage. Really? Even if you are named during the trial of a domestic terrorist?

I know that many of you read about that huge explosion near Riverbanks that happened earlier this month, because I received the link about a dozen times.

I am sure that you would naturally assume that causing such a monster explosion and doing so muhc damage would result in a conviction for SOMETHING. But you my friend would be oh so wrong.

Courtesy of Newsminer:

The criminal case has been dismissed against a Fairbanks man who was accused of setting off a destructive explosion last month in the Chena Ridge neighborhood.

Following the explosion, Fairbanks chiropractor and business owner Guy “Chris” Mannino was charged with felony criminal mischief, the crime of recklessly putting the property of others at risk.

Neighbors said shockwaves from the blast, which was heard as far away as North Pole, did at least $15,000 in damage to windows and other property.

Alaska State Troopers said there was evidence Mannino detonated the blast and recommended a felony charge under the theory that blowing up more than 300 pounds of explosives put more than $100,000 in property at risk.

A Fairbanks grand jury disagreed last week. Asked to indict Mannino to continue the prosecution, the grand jury returned a “no true bill” instead of an indictment.

“The grand jury, after careful deliberation, decided that Mr. Mannino’s conduct was not criminal in nature,” Fairbanks District attorney Michael Gray said by e-mail.

Because the grand jury failed to indict, the state cannot again pursue the case unless new evidence emerges. In some cases the state can pursue misdemeanor charges if the grand jury does not indict, but in this case the misdemeanor version of criminal mischief corresponds with the crime of intentionally damaging up to $500 worth of property, not Mannino’s alleged reckless conduct.

Now look I live in Alaska, and I know that there are a lot of things you can get away with up here that would have your ass in jail for years down in the lower 48. You know like firing your weapon into the air at night, driving your snowmachine down the middle of the road, raping a reindeer, you know things like that.

However you might assume that setting off an explosion that does $15,000 worth of damage and puts $100,000 worth of property at risk, would get you SOME time in jail. Right?

So I thought to myself who does this Guy Mannino fellow know? And why is his name vaguely familiar?

And I found that answer in a transcript of the Schaeffer Cox trial put together by our friend Jeanne Devon over at the Mudflats. This is from a portion of an FBI surveillance tape that was played in court, of a conversation between FBI informant Bill Fulton, defendant Lonnie Vernon, and the other FBI informant JR Olson:

The next snippet of conversation talks about grenades and fuses, C4 explosive, and silencers, which are also called ‘supressors.’ This conversation takes place the night after the convention.

FULTON: That whole — that’s what I’m saying, but you also want good ones… They have to be brand new but off the books. I know a couple of gun shops in the area. That’s not a problem.

VERNON: Really, no kidding?

OLSON: That’s all I want to know.

FULTON: That’s prepay, and you’re going to wait six months for it.

VERNON: Really, no kidding?

FULTON: Yeah. because they’re going to want cash, and in order to make it clean it’s got to get lost… It’s not like they can just order one up.

VERNON: You can’t grind the numbers, weld over it and that kind of stuff?

FULTON: No, no, no, no, because each one of those is accountable.

VERNON: Oh, I gotcha.

FULTON: You see what I’m saying? So, let’s say that I go to him and I give him a thousand dollars, okay? It’s going to take a while for him to order the piece to begin with, because it’s not like anybody stocks them. Order it, get it shipped, do the paperwork, get it lost, and then get it to me, yeah.

VERNON: I was going to ask you, you don’t deal with an Mannino, do you?

FULTON: Who’s Mannino? No.

VERNON: Okay.

FULTON: Who is he?

OLSON: He’s a dealer.

VERNON: No, no, no, no, no, no. He’s a tour president and everybody — he’s in the ‘dot gov’ thing. He is a worm …

FULTON: Okay, who is this asshole? (…)

OLSON: He’s a chiropractor.

VERNON: He’s the one that — he’s a meddler.

OLSON: He’s got class three.

VERNON: Oh, yeah, he’s got — he’s got explosives and everything. But, if you try to buy…

OLSON: Don’t deal with him.

VERNON: If you try to buy something from him, all of a sudden you make the list, on his list, and all of his buddies are the cops, FBI, everything. He is such a smartass.

Here is what Jeanne wrote about the guy they were talking about:

The twerpish, wormy, meddling, smartass, chiropractic asshole turns out to be a Dr. G. Chris Mannino from Fairbanks – a chiropractor who also happens to be a Class 3 gun dealer. If he is the same G. Chris Mannino that has (or had) a business called Arms & Equipment, and was listed as a Class 3 dealer in Fairbanks.

Okay so now do you get it?

Perhaps if you are a regular Joe Blow in Alaska, and you blow a giant hole in the state, you might go to jail. But if you are a gun dealing chiropractor, with ties to certain militia members, and lots of cop buddies, well....

Things that make you go, hmmm.
