This is what the Palin gals call a successful hunt.

Father of Newtown victim gives heartbreaking testimony as to why we need more gun control laws.

Courtesy of CBS News:

During emotional testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee today, the father of a first grader slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School fought back tears as he stressed the need to ban weapons like the assault rifle that a gunman used to kill his son, 19 other children, and 6 educators in Newtown, Conn.

Neil Heslin described how his son Jesse "was brutally murdered at Sandy Hook school on December 14, 20 minutes after I dropped him off."

"He said 'It's all going to be OK'," Heslin recalled his son saying as he was dropped off at school. "And it wasn't OK."

"Jesse was the love of my life. He was the only family I have left. It's hard for me to be here today, talking about my deceased son," Heslin said. But he added, "I have to. I'm his voice. I'm not here for the sympathy...I'm here to speak up for my son."

"There's many changes that have to happen to make a change effective," he continued. "Mental health issues, better background checks, bans on these weapons, bans on high capacity magazines - they all have to come together and they all have to work effectively...common sense tells you that."

I have watched this testimony  about three times now but I still cannot get through it without tearing up. And I doubt that any person with any feeling of empathy toward their fellow human beings could.

Around the 5:50 mark Mr. Heslin makes a very important point about the 2nd Amendment:

"They warn you about the 2nd Amendment. Well the 2nd Amendment says a well regulated militia. Bear arms, freedom of state...It HASN'T been well regulated. It's not being well regulated."

That is a very important observation. The 2nd Amendment may provide the right to "keep and bear arms" but it does NOT afford that right free of government regulation.

And that is all anybody is asking for here. The right to protect our babies from the fanatics who stockpile weapons and may someday use them on their fellow citizens, or worse yet, a classroom full of innocent children.

And if you don't agree with that then perhaps you need to watch Mr. Heslin's testimony again.

In the end your right to bear arms is secondary to our right to protect our children. Period!

Hey, want to see video of the first time that Sarah Palin ever held a rifle? Actually you may have already seen it.

I know what you are thinking, "Gryphen, this CAN'T be the first time Palin ever held a rifle, remember she's a life long hunter!"

Well yes of course I know what the Palin mythology says, but this video says oh so much more.

Palin immediately presses the stock against her cheek, which NOBODY with ANY experience holding a rifle would do.  If she had pulled the trigger before this was corrected, the weapon would have flown out of her hands, or shattered every bone in her shoulder.

In fact if you look carefully you can see that she initially resists the instructor's attempts to move the assault weapon into the proper placement against her shoulder, which further indicates that she has NO idea what she is doing.

I have to imagine that it was probably sometime after this that Palin asked Levi to show her how to shoot the gun stored under her bed.

If this footage is not convincing enough than I invite you to watch how completely uncomfortable with weapons Palin remained even during the filming of SPA.

I know for many of us this is old news, but somebody sent that video to me today, and after watching it I was once again struck by what a complete fraud, in essentially every way, this woman is.

When people ask you how you can believe that Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy, just tell them that as far as you can tell she seems to have faked EVERYTHING about herself!

Sarah Palin's biggest fan denies that the Grizzled Mama modified her signature phrase.

From Politico:

Her speech last night to the Safari Club in Reno was closed press, but the Reno Gazette-Journal's David Jacobs put his ear to a closed door.

He reported Palin dropped the "reload" phrase from her routine, telling the audience of hunters "don't retreat, stand tall" — a shift from her now infamous and well-known "don't retreat, reload" line that played on a loop on cable in the after the Tucson shooting.

But Palin aide Rebecca Mansour denied that the former governor dropped the line, suggested to her by her father.

"The governor actually did use the phrase 'Don't retreat, reload,'" Mansour told POLITICO in an email. "She also said, 'Don't retreat, stand tall.'"

"Her father, Chuck Heath, was present at the speech yesterday, and the crowd cheered when she pointed to her Dad and repeated this favorite saying of his," the aide added.

You know the ironic part of this disagreement is that if Sarah Palin were not so completely hyper paranoid of having reporters allowed inside to hear her speech, there would be no question as to exactly what she said.  But then again, could THAT be why she refuses to allow them access?

So who are we to believe?

A journalist from the Reno Gazette-Journal, whose paper I imagine insists that it's reporters strive for accuracy?  Or a woman on Snowdrift Snooki's payroll who once clumsily tried to convince people that the crosshairs on Sarah Palin's Facebook map were really surveyor's symbols, despite the fact that her Queen had stated otherwise?

Wow!  That is a conundrum!
