Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

"I couldn't be prouder that you're my President."
Courtesy of ABC News:
President Obama honored Rebecca Mieliwocki as the 2012 National Teacher of the Year today, saying she is “the definition of above and beyond.”
“When kids finish a year in Rebecca’s class, they’re better readers and writers than when they started. But even more than that, they know how important they are, and they understand how bright their futures can be, and they know that if they work at it, there’s no limit to what they can achieve,” the president said at a White House ceremony.
Obama noted that the seventh grade English teacher from Burbank, Calif., has “high expectations” for her students and for herself, but that she also “knows that school can be fun.” The president highlighted Mieliwocki’s enthusiasm and her efforts to engage parents, including hosting family nights and offering class updates on Facebook.
“Rebecca is the definition of above and beyond,” he said. “She throws herself into her work for a simple reason: She knows that her students depend on her.”
Standing before winners of state teachers of the year awards, Mieliwocki stressed “I am not the best teacher in America. There isn’t one. All across this nation there are millions of teachers who do the work that I do, and many do it better.”
Hard to resist a post that both honors teachers and gives props to our President.
This one just gave me a good feeling all over.

Regardless of the man racists see through the eyeholes cut in their white hoods, THIS is the President that I am proud to have in the White House.
I simply could not allow that hate filled post about the commenters at Fox Nation be the one that stayed on the top of my page all night long, so here is one that should soothe your frayed nerves and quiet your troubled hearts.
This is the man our President truly is.
He is not a secret Muslim, or Saul Alinsky trained socialist, or religion attacking ivy league snob.
He is a man that children are drawn to like moths to a flame.
He is a man who fights for this country everyday despite the fact that it seems half of it will never accept him due solely to the color of his skin, or the political party with which he is affiliated.
He is by no means perfect, but then most of us never set the bar that high.
He has made mistakes, and I expect that there are still more to be made, but his successes far outweigh his failures. And he has made progress, and helped the nation to make progress, in the face of the most withering opposition that I believe we have ever seen.
So this is the REAL face of the man who now occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
And personally I am going to do everything in my power to make sure he stays the resident at that address. And I urge all of you to lend a hand toward that outcome as well, because we are certainly going to need all of the help we can get.
After all we can't simply count on the Mitt Romney gaffes to do all of the work for us now can we?
By the way if you want to see charisma at work, check out this video of the speech he gave in San Francisco today.

How President Obama is seen Down Under.
Here is how various Australian publications covered the President's visit to their shores.
Could you even imagine ANY of the current crop of Republican hopefuls being received by other nations in such a way? Or representing our country with such warmth?
There is much more to the job of President then protecting our shores, and fixing the economy. There is also standing before the people of the world as the living embodiment of America. And this President does an outstanding job at that.
Though there are many who simply DO NOT appreciate that.
Today the Right Wing smear machine tried to take an innocent remark by the President and use it to smear him:
Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry and Mitt Romney both claim President Obama said that "Americans are lazy." He didn't. To the contrary, Obama has consistently and repeatedly praised American workers as the "most productive in the world," a bit of boosterism he has repeated dozens of times. His recent words — "we've been a little bit lazy, I think, over the last couple of decades" — actually referred to collective efforts to promote foreign investment in the U.S., and not to American workers or voters as individuals. Perry and Romney simply rip those words out of their context in order to mislead.
That is the best they have to work with, these right wingers, to take a comment out of context and purposefully misrepresent it in an attempt to paint an inaccurate, and ugly picture of our Commander-in-Chief.
Sort of smacks of desperation doesn't it?
But you know, who can blame them for panicking a little? Just take another look at those pictures up above. Would YOU want to run against that guy?
