Just in case you have not had enough opportunities to cringe today, here is Donald Trump congratulating a soldier for getting his leg blown off.

President Donald Trump congratulated an army sergeant for being wounded in Afghanistan during his visit to the Walter Reed Medical Center on Saturday. Except, of course, that it’s not appropriate to “congratulate” a recipient of this type of award for almost getting killed.

The president and First Lady Melania Trump met with Barrientos and his wife at the hospital, and they had a small ceremony as Trump presented the sergeant with the Purple Heart. The medal is the longstanding award bestowed upon those wounded or killed in their service to the U.S. Military. 

“I heard about this and I wanted to do it myself,” said Trump. “Congratulations on behalf of Melania, myself, and the entire nation. Tremendous job.”

Not only does this soldier look like he would rather be just about any place else, but did you notice Trump slobbering on his wife?

You know I read that Trump got quite a lot of support from members of the military. I wonder how they are feeling about that vote right about now?

Donald Trump very honored to receive fake Purple Heart from supporter. Undoubtedly less honored to be called out by Dakota Meyer.

Did he really say "I always wanted to get the Purple Hear, this was much easier?"

Unfortunately for Trump the medal was not real.

Okay he attacks Gold Star families, gets stuck in elevators, misspells words on Twitter, and now gets scammed by a former veteran?

But wait, there's more.

If @realDonaldTrump wants to be the Commander in Chief, he needs to act like one. And that cant start until he apologizes to the Khans.

That's right he just got called out by his Trump Tramp's son-in-law. And Hillary Clinton just retweeted it.

I am not sure if I am watching a legitimate presidential campaign or the parody of a presidential campaign.

P.S. By the way Trump is also refusing to support John McCain, Paul Ryan, and Kelly Ayotte in their upcoming primaries. Yep, sounding more like a parody campaign every day.

Wounded Iraq war veteran gives his purple heart to Gabrielle Giffords.

Al Lee, a Sierra Vista resident, was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured in Fallujah, Iraq, in September 2003. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and other wounds in the blast of an improvised explosive device. On Wednesday, Lee presented his Purple Heart to Giffords staffer Pam Simons, who was also injured in the shooting rampage that wounded the congresswoman.

Lee noted that as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Giffords has been a strong advocate for veterans and active-duty members of the military. For that reason, Lee said he believes that Giffords was wounded "in the line of duty."

Rep. Giffords' staff members will present the Purple Heart to her this weekend in Houston, where she is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

Wounded "in the line of duty."  Of course she was.

I don't really have anything clever or revelatory to add to this, I just thought it was very touching and decided it needed to be shared.
