The Tennessee Republican congressman who supported his ex-wife's decision to get two abortions was among those who voted in favor of a ban on most late-term abortions.
Republican U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais, a Jasper physician, was one of 242 House members who voted Wednesday to pass the bill, which forbids most abortions starting with the 20th week of pregnancy.
"Congressman DesJarlais was proud to vote in favor of this legislation," said his spokesman Robert Jameson, who added that DesJarlais has maintained a "100 percent pro-life voting record" during his five years in Congress and "has always advocated for pro-life values."
DesJarlais' support of his ex-wife's abortions, which occurred before their 1995 marriage, was revealed after his 2012 re-election to Congress in a divorce trial transcript. The transcript also showed the physician had engaged in multiple affairs with patients, and pressured one of them to get an abortion after she told him she was pregnant. The outcome of that pregnancy is unknown.
First off I cannot even imagine how Uncle Fester there got so many women to do the nasty with him. Do the women in Tennessee really have such low standards?
And secondly, as we have mentioned here time and time again, typically a woman seeking an abortion at 20 weeks is doing so because of complications found during the ultrasound. Which is supposed to be performed between the 18th and 20th week of pregnancy.
But hey what's a couple of dead or deformed babies being born when you can pander to the anti-abortion crowd?
Besides it appears that this POS already got rid of all of the babies that might have complicated HIS life.
By the way John Boehner called this "the most pro-life legislation to ever come before this body."
So don't you worry your pretty heads ladies, the old white guys in the Congress are going to make all of the decisions about what you can and cannot do with your reproductive organs for you.
Isn't that nice of them?
But don't worry, President Obama will veto the snot out of this if it ever reaches his desk.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

The Republicans in the House waste NO time in attempting to defund Planned Parenthood and granting legal rights to a cluster of cells. Wait, haven't we seen this movie before?
Courtesy of HuffPo:
House Republicans are so eager to strip federal family planning funds from Planned Parenthood that two of them have introduced identical bills to do so in the first days of the new Congress.
Tennessee Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R) and Diane Black (R) separately reintroduced a bill during the first two days of the 2013 legislative session that would prohibit Title X family planning grants from being awarded to any organization that performs abortions. The bill, first introduced by former Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) in the 112th Congress, primarily targets Planned Parenthood, which receives about $340 million a year in Title X funds for non-abortion health and family planning services. Both bills amend Pence's original bill to include exceptions for rape, incest and to protect the life of the mother.
Blackburn is Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the committee with jurisdiction over the issue. Since she filed and circulated her bill on Thursday, the first day of the legislative session, more than a half-dozen Republicans have signed on as cosponsors and numerous anti-abortion groups have endorsed it.
Blackburn declared the bill a priority for her committee and vowed to carry on Pence's agenda. “Congressman Pence has been a champion in the fight to protect innocent human life and I hope to continue his leadership in the House,” she said in a statement. "As a woman, I believe America deserves better than abortion."
You mean like access to a better sexual education or access to preventative care such as that provided by Planned Parenthood? It is worth noting of course that the federal funds that Planned Parenthood receives ARE NOT used to perform any abortions.
And don't think this kind of draconian approach to women's health issues is only coming from Tennessee either, losing VP candidate Paul Ryan is also jumping back on to the anti-choice bandwagon.
Also from HuffPo:
Despite the deep unpopularity of fetal personhood bills in 2012, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has again decided to cosponsor the Sanctity of Human Life Act, a bill that gives full legal rights to human zygotes from the moment of fertilization.
Ryan, who reportedly has 2016 presidential ambitions, had to de-emphasize his opposition to abortion without exceptions during the 2012 election to align his position with presidential candidate Mitt Romney. But this year, Ryan has been tapped as a keynote speaker for the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List's sixth annual Campaign for Life Gala, and he is re-upping his support for the most extreme anti-abortion legislation in the country.
The personhood bill, first introduced in 2011 by Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) and reintroduced by Broun last week, specifies that a "one-celled human embryo," even before it implants in the uterus to create a pregnancy, should be granted "all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood."
Jesus the next thing you know they'll be granting full legal rights to the sperm soaked tissues under a teenager's bed.
You would think that after this last election these idiots would recognize the changing mood in this country, but it is like they only see that they are losing the mass majority of the American electorate and are choosing to double down on social issues in order to hang on to their dwindling number of conservative supporters.
Well good luck with that.
I doubt these bills will be anymore successful than they were the last time. Though they DO serve the purpose of helping to identify to the more progressive voters who should NEVER receive their votes in upcoming elections.
Ya hear that Paul Ryan?

Florida Democrat suggest that perhaps his wife should "incorporate her uterus" to keep Republicans from regulating it. Idea goes viral.
From the Miami Herald:
During last week's discussion about a bill that would prohibit governments from deducting union dues from a worker's paycheck, state Rep. Scott Randolph, D-Orlando, used his time during floor debate to argue that Republicans are against regulations -- except when it comes to the little guys, or serves their specific interests.
At one point Randolph suggested that his wife "incorporate her uterus" to stop Republicans from pushing measures that would restrict abortions. Republicans, after all, wouldn't want to further regulate a Florida business.
Apparently the GOP leadership of the House didn't like the one-liner.
They told Democrats that Randolph is not to discuss body parts on the House floor.
"The point was that Republicans are always talking about deregulation and big government," Randolph said Thursday. "And I always say their philosophy is small government for the big guy and big government for the little guy. And so, if my wife's uterus was incorporated or my friend's bedroom was incorporated, maybe they (Republicans) would be talking about deregulating.
"It's not like I used slang," said Randolph, who actually got the line from his wife. He said Republicans voiced concern about young pages hearing the word uterus.
"I think it's a sad commentary about what we think about sex education in the state," he said.
Let me get this straight. The Florida Republicans have no problem telling women what they can, and cannot do with their own reproductive organs, but they get their panties in a twist at the word "uterus?"
That's what I thought, the GOP really ARE intimidated by women's control over their sexuality and power to create life. That explains a lot.
By the way Rep. Randolph's offhand comment inspired the local ACLU to launch an Incorporate my Uterus website:
Coast to coast, conservatives get elected by promising smaller government and less business regulation but as soon as they get elected, they rush to put big government regulations on the personal freedom and privacy of your body.
It’s a clear double standard. To them, there are too many regulations on pharmacies and fruit stands but not nearly enough government rules about your uterus.
Since they seem to agree that government has no business in business, it’s time to make your uterus into a business.
Maybe then your uterus can get the same treatment corporations get – fewer rules, fewer government searches and more personal freedoms.
Even though it won’t be a legal corporation, it’s no joke. Incorporate your uterus now to send them a clear message to keep their big government restrictions off your body and give you the same respect they give to every business.
Okay I am going to fight the urge to make the obvious pun here, but I am going to say that I LOVE this idea!
