Sit down kiddies, Sarah Palin's going to learn ya about unions.

Holy crap! Did you buy ANY of that?

Here was Wonkette's take on this drivel:

It start with some facts about the history of Labor Day that Sarah found on Wikipedia, about how hard-workin’ people built America. What do Republicans think of hard-workin’ Americans, you ask? “Fer ‘em!” Sarah replies. But then she brings up how Todd was in a union — elected treasurer, even! — and how that was fine because Todd was helpin’ some hard-workin’ guys up in Alaska, whereas the “union thugs,” the ones runnin’ the unions, they’re no good. She concludes this rambling saying that the true meaning of Labor Day is not about politics.

At the end of the video, she takes a moment to address everyone who doesn’t have Labor Day off, and she thanks them for coming to work that day.

So Palin has nothing against her union brothers and sisters' but flat out hate those union "thugs" don'tcha know?

I guess it does not dawn on Palin that those "thugs" ie union bosses, are union members as well who worked their way up. (And by the way if Todd was the treasurer, you know the guy that makes sure people pay their dues and keeps track of the payout, that kind of puts him in cahoots with those same thugs that Palin is dissing in this stupid video.

As for Palin's contention that the Republicans are on the side of union member, well that is simply Palin brand mooseshit.

Here is just a smattering of what the GOP has been up to lately to undermine or even destroy unions in this country, courtesy of Mother Jones:

From New Hampshire to Alaska, Republican lawmakers are waging war on organized labor. They're pushing bills to curb, if not eliminate, collective bargaining for public workers; make it harder for unions to collect member dues; and, in some states, allow workers to opt out of joining unions entirely but still enjoy union-won benefits. All told, it's one of the largest assaults on American unions in recent history.

Behind the onslaught is a well-funded network of conservative think tanks that you've probably never heard of. Conceived by the same conservative ideologues who helped found the Heritage Foundation, the State Policy Network (SPN) is a little-known umbrella group with deep ties to the national conservative movement. Its mission is simple: to back a constellation of state-level think tanks loosely modeled after Heritage that promote free-market principles and rail against unions, regulation, and tax increases.

A Brief History of Corporate Whining.

Believing that businesses are self regulating is like believing that criminals are self incarcerating.

This new pro-Obama ad is definitely going to be a "Bain" in Mitt Romeny's ass.

Here is some of the text from the ad courtesy of Politico:

"Out of the blue one day, we were told to build a 30-foot stage. Gathered the guys, and we built that 30-foot stage, not knowing what it was for. Just days later, all three shifts were told to assemble in the warehouse.

A group of people walked out on that stage, and told us that the plant is now closed, and all of you are fired. I looked both ways, I looked at the crowd, and we all just lost our jobs. We don’t have an income.

Mitt Romney made over a hundred million dollars by shutting down our plant, and devastated our lives.

"Turns out that when we built that stage, it was like building my own coffin. And it just made me sick."

Okay THAT is pretty powerful.  And it hits Romney right where he lives, in that as he keeps trying to convince Americans that HE is the only salvation for the country's economy, the evidence demonstrates that Romney was a corporate raider who essentially ran over the average worker in favor of making his clients, the top 1% it you will, even MORE wealthy.

That is not the kind of message that will win him to many votes from anybody who is not lighting their cigars with hundred dollar bills.

Did you have a good weekend? Thank a liberal union member.

Lately there has been an unprecedented uptick in union bashing from the Republican side of the aisle. The most egregious is what we just watched unfold in Wisconsin, where the Democrats and their union partners were outspent 7-1.

This is constant barrage of negativism toward the unions is having a real effect, and American support for them has been waning.

Perhaps it is time to remind ourselves of just how much good unions have done for this country. You know besides the eight hour days and five day work weeks mentioned above.

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker might be an anti-labor douchebag, but at least he knows how to welcome the President to his state.

Courtesy of The Wall Street Journal:

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican who rose to national fame last year for his crackdown on union bargaining, greeted President Barack Obama, who called Mr. Walker’s labor policy “an assault,” with a smile. He gave the president a white Milwaukee Brewers baseball jersey with “OBAMA” and the number “1” stitched on the back.

Mr. Walker scrapped plans to tour this city’s Master Lock manufacturing plant, citing the stomach flu. He said the change of plans had nothing to do with politics. “If it was politics, I wouldn’t have greeted him here,” Mr. Walker told pool reporter David Nakamura of the Washington Post.

“We’re certainly pleased the president’s here,” he continued. “It’s a great focus for Wisconsin. We love manufacturing. That’s our No. 1 industry. The bottom line is we’re one of the biggest, most dependent on manufacturing of any state in the country. We appreciate the fact that the president’s focusing on manufacturing.”

Mr. Walker, who just days ago delivered a blistering speech about Mr. Obama to a gathering of conservative Republicans in Washington, said Wednesday wasn’t the time for that sort of thing.

“Today’s the president’s day,” he said. “I’m appreciative he’s in Wisconsin, appreciative he’s focused on manufacturing. We’ll leave politics for another day.”

I have few nice things to say about Governor Walker, well none really, but at least he knows how to be a good host and to put his differences with the President on the back burner when the man makes a visit to his state.
President visits Masterlock company in Milwaukee
I am going to give him credit for being a gentleman and giving our President the respect he deserves. Well done sir.

Perhaps he would be willing to give Arizona Governor Jan Brewer some lessons on how to be a human being?

Workers all over America owe an incredible debt of gratitude to Wisconsin.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I had no idea how many worker compensations we take for granted in our daily working lives that were fought for by unions in Wisconsin.

Just the idea of the weekend alone is enough reason for us to rush to support the union workers now standing up for their rights in Wisconsin.  Could you imagine NOT having the weekend to look forward to?

I shudder at the thought.
