Mitt Romney's approval numbers among Republicans even lower than John McCain's at this time in 2008.

According to this poll by Gallup.

A little more than one-third of Republicans say they would vote "enthusiastically" for either Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum if either candidate were to win their party's nomination for president. Slightly fewer say they would vote enthusiastically for Newt Gingrich. This level of enthusiasm is similar to Republicans' feelings about voting for Romney in early 2008, but lower than the enthusiasm level for that year's eventual GOP nominee, John McCain.

Did you get that, the enthusiasm level for Romney is actually twelve points lower than it was  for John McCain at this time.

Do we remember what the McCain campaign decided they needed for a "game changer" in order to bring back the GOP base?

Palin speaks on March 18, at the Food City pre-race ceremonies.

Romney would NEVER voluntarily put Palin on the ticket after the shit she's pulled. But then who else?

Rick Santorum? Not likely as his numbers are even lower than Romeny's

Then who could possibly bring Romney that much needed Evangelical support?

Michele Bachmann? Nah, she's as stupid as Palin.

Rick Perry? Same problem. (Though he DOES have bigger breasts!)

My feeling is that he needs an Evangelical woman. And it would certainly not hurt that she was also a governor.

But don't worry, despite my good friend Geoffrey Dunn's recognition of Palin's ultimate, and ultimately doomed, end game there is NO WAY the establishment GOP will let her anywhere near the 2012 ticket.

Though to be honest they may not really want Romney anywhere near the ticket either.

Sucks to be them!

  2. Sarah is in campaign mode though. NASCAR appearances to rile up "her base;" speaking at a very conservative Christian women's group; throwing down red meat for all the mouth breathers on FOX. You betcha she's running.

What will it take to stop her? Even when she doesn't get her wish to be drafted at a stalled convention, she'll ride the victim train for a few more years to keep her PAC and her dreams alive. She's the Freddy Kruger of the GOP.

Okay, just to be totally, completely superficial:

a grey suit jacket and dirty, messy hair do not shout "Presidential" to the rest of the world.

a grey suit jacket and dirty, messy hair do not should "NASCAR" to me, either.

her appearance is an insult to those who invited her. Has she never heard of a comb, or colors that complement her coloring, or that fit? Or that look clean?

There's no way on earth that she'll be on a Republican ticket, or in any position of power or influence. She's too toxic. And she's the antithesis of Romney, who, whatever his faults, values family, education, self-control. He's got both a J.D. and an MBA from Harvard. I'll bet all of his sons went to college and are gainfully employed. He can speak French!
He would recoil if he had to spend more than ten minutes with the Wasilla hillbilly and her clan. He doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Hell probably have to pick Santorum because he is going to need those delegates. I know that there is talk that he and Ron Paul have some deal but Paul doesn't have many delegates and the only thing Romney can promise him is a primetime speaking engagement at the convention and.. Uh.. Good lock not turning off independent voters with that!

Wasn't there some sort of agreement between Sarah and the RNC for paying off her legal fees that she would work fundraisers for the party. I don't think she did one, just ones that paid her direct. They should bring this up and embarrass her in public. Not one fundraiser for the party or any speeches on Down Syndrome. What a way to go, Sarah prefers to speak at racetracks.....

I believe Geoffrey is spitting in Sarah´s eye when he raises the subject of her running. The topic of her throwing her hat in the ring came across as a self-serving prick tease. Sarah had painted herself in a corner and ended up blaming the Good Lord, our Heavenly Father, for not running. In her mind, Sarah had successfully ended all discussion of her candidacy. Unfortunately for her, people know Sarah can´t resist the urge to tease. They dangle the artificial lure in her face, bobbing it up and down, jerking it to and fro, making her swallow it. It is a reflex response buried deep in her reptilian brain. Sarah cannot help making a fool out of herself.

Sarah doesn't have a shot in hell for 2012. Sarah will never draw the crowds she did in 2008 because she was 'new' then, people were curious, she's not new anymore. She has a track record in the lower 48.

She's been elevated to a national level and even though it's not the MSM that's doing it, information is slowly leaking out about her and her past and she can't stop it. Shailey's book is a good example.

She is old news with really only a few articles covering her, if you check into Google News, it's no where close to where it was. The international media barely mentions her, her facebook ghostwritten rants are mostly ignored, her tweets as well. There was a time when her tweets and FB posts made front page news. Not any more.

She is a has been in pretty much every circle of power except her rabid followers and a few pundits that publicly defend her if it suits their agenda, but privately they just laugh at her.

She no longer commands big bucks with her screeches, she is the one that mostly interjects herself in the news, with invites diminishing every day. She looks for events that she can show up at to take advantage of the crowds already there...like her latest NASCAR photo op. The crowds were already there, she just sauntered in to bask in the glory.

She's seen on Fox and that is mostly what she can attribute to ANY sort of continued presence in people's minds and she mostly reinforces all the things that have been said about her in truth telling Palin books like Dunne and McGinniss, etc, and in Game Change.

And of course by the diligent, precise, dogged work for the bloggers like Gryphen, we are eternally thankful for without it, so much of the Palin mystique, the BIG MYTH would continue to be perpetuated by the MSM and Palin and no one would know the REAL truth of things.

It was the only way he could have won the election. Kennedy's Catholicism was a big drawback in the South. LBJ carried the South for Kennedy. Romney has no chance of pulling in the far right and the South. Santorum can. Politics do make strange bedfellows. Sounds like Gryphen's jealous that Bristol's got a blog. Haha By the way, Anonymous seems to be a very popular name on here. Kinda like Muhammad in the Middle East. Seems like there are a lot of cowards on here. Otherwise, you'd use your real names. I'm Kristy Patullo. Proud Palin supporter. I like to slum on Gryphen's blog now and again to study the PDS sufferer. This is a person who believes that Sarah Palin did not birth her own baby. That Bristol Palin has been pregnant for 3 years, and has multiple babies. That posing in Playgirl and Playboy is a brilliant career move. But only if you are a Palin hater. (see Levi Johnston, Mercede Johnston and Meghan McCain) And that the First Dude of Alaska is really a pimp in disguise. These people don't have any proof of any of this, but they believe it, anyway. Because if they didn't, what would make their life worth living? Certainly not having to watch the Palin's become more and more popular. And more and more successful. This thought eats at them every day. They accuse Bristol of being a coward, because she doesn't want to talk to that cow, Meghan McCain. But they totally dismiss the fact that she took on an effing lunatic in a gay bar. And won. So, yes, these people are quite delusional. And most of them need a ghostwriter, themselves, because they can't seem to string a sentence together. Their spelling is atrocious. And they are overall lame in their commentary. Now, I know Gryphen will post this, because you all believe in free speech, right? I mean, you do when it comes to the Palin's. So I look forward to seeing my comment posted very soon. : )

So this little twat steps up and says 'I'll do it' and trots on over the Gryphen's blog and 'tells him a thing or two', smugly reporting back to her cohorts how she 'told him good' and everyone read her post because she can count on it being posted since Gryphen believes in 'free speech'.

Then they all titter and giggle about how they 'got him good', when in fact all they did was reveal how ignorant and small minded they were, how racist and bullying they were, how much of a poor excuse of a human being they are.

Yep, that junior high mentality is so easy to spot. What is terribly sad is that this poor little girl thinks that she is WINNING in life with this petty kind of behavior, when, in fact, she is sliding into the abyss of ignorance.

She gets all puffed up for a minute or two, and then she right goes back to knowing that she's really a big piece of shit and no one really much wants her around, as she gets more and more desperate to be noticed and therefore resorts to increasingly stupid ass actions and statements.

And, Gingrich would NEVER run in second position to her! Oh my God! But, it might be fun watching them together for as long as it would last. They'd kill each other - two, huge, huge egos! They'd both end up QUITTING!

If Romney wins the nomination, why should he pander to the Evangelicals? Who else are they going to vote for? They're Anyone But Obama first and foremost.
He'd score points with Independents by picking a qualified moderate, not a fire-breathing right-winger.
The mainstream GOP isn't going to put money into a rabid back-to-to-the-19th c. vice presidential candidate.
He could save the Republican Party from itself if he had the courage to do it.

If Santorum wins GOP, Bachmann is the VP nom. She's a cash cow, and she's really not much nuttier than him. Sadly, they will be a formidable team -- they can bank money from the fringe and be telegenic enough to run a serious campaign to recapture the middle class.

If Romney wins GOP, I think it would take Jeb Bush to give him a real game change. Otherwise, if he goes for an establishment VP, he'll be seen as boring. If he goes for a Palin type, he'll be seen both as lacking conviction and following a losing playbook.

If she were to win such a position, I’m pretty sure the “jackals” would be sent after her. It’s no joke. I don’t like her, but I wouldn’t wish that on her.

  29. THE PROBLEM IS any right wing loon turns on the loon base buy turns off the rest of america, as palin the loon showed.

my guess is the VP pick will be a man 100% and a right winger like rubio of fl.

but remember people really do not vote for the VP.
ALL THE NONSENSE ABOUT PALIN ETC HELPING THE TICKET IS PURE bs.
those people are ALL repigs anyways and would never vote for a dem let alone a black dem.

people vote according to how things are going in their own lives because very FEW have a clue about issues.

so Obamas going to need a decent economy to win.
any attack against Iran for ex. loses him the election for certain.

remember..their are only a few states that are really in play to win the presidency.
fl. pa. ohio etc, the usual suspects.
states like the cult of utah would elect hitler if he was on the republican ticket.

so yes its still all about the economy.

It won't be Rubio, he's got a lot of sketchy baggage.

There is NO WAY IN HELL that Bachmann will be put back in the mix. She pulled in GUTTER results and where she may be 'photogenic' she has too big of an ego to play well. She stirs up controversy and says stupid shit all the time. But Santorum isn't gonna win...won't happen. Mitt will be the candidate and Obama will SLAUGHTER him electorially and for the popular vote. Sarah Palin is a non issue.

Mitt will go to the Right, he's too stupid not to. And Mitt won't choose a woman. He just won't. If he did, it would most likely be Nikki Haley, but his indoctrination in Mormonism doesn't cater at all to female political power.

If Rubio were up for it, that would be a smart political choice, but Rubio isn't for obvious reasons. First and foremost he isn't interested.

Jeb Bush isn't interested either, but I don't count him as a smart choice, it's just too soon to put a Bush name back in the national conversation. If you notice, NO ONE is singing HIS praises during this campaign, they're all harkoning back to Reagan. No one ever mention GHW Bush either. Curious.

Romney will have to come up with a 'Game Change' of his own, and Gingrich, Santorum, Paul are not it. Neither are the other heavyweights that have bowed out of the presidential campaign, Christy, Pawlenty, Daniels, that Mississippi blowhard, none of them would take second billing when they had their eyes on the prize of the presidency, so they're waiting it out until 2016.

Romney's choices for VP are as barren as his chances of beating Barack Obama. He's fucked.

SO off topic, but I had to share since I am really laughing my ass off and raising my good inside chemicals, this one was a doozy!
    ----

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women – she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

    Dear Mrs. Harris,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behaviour and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:

    1. June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people’s carts when they weren’t looking.

    2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

    3. July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women’s restroom.

    4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, ‘Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away’. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

    5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway

    6. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

    7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

    8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, ‘Why can’t you people just leave me alone?’ EMTs were called.

9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

    10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

    11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ‘ Mission Impossible’ theme.

    12. October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his ‘Madonna look’ by using different sizes of funnels on his chest.

    13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, he yelled ‘PICK ME! PICK ME!’

    14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed ‘OHNO! IT’S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!’

    15. Took a box of condoms to the check out clerk and asked where the fitting room was?

    And last, but not least:

    16. October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, ‘Hey! There’s no toilet paper in here.’

One of the clerks passed out.

That last one had me spitting out my drink while howling til tear ran...but maybe that's just me.

I am a die hard Republican but I love the U.S.A. He has given hope to the “vanishing” middle class of pursuing the American dream. It proves just what our founding father Washington said in his Farewell Address, stay away from political parties. Obama Biden 2012

You sir have demolished every false impression, opinion, and utter lies I believed till now. No longer will I waste my time arguing amongst fellow Americans on who needs to be in office when the man for the job is already there. You have earned my vote in November! Obama 2012

Somewhat OT - but certainly related to spreading the truth about who the Palins really are to head her off at the Pass, if she is indeed thinking about trying to run for ANY political office - even "Fence Sitter"! Here's a link to report sex trafficking ala Todd Palin = from Nicholas Kristof's article/s on sex trafficking girls at the NYT -

I haven't yet visited to see what it entails to make a report, but that's what my next step is! I also was able to get a comment through moderation at the NYT and able to leave a link re: "Boys Will Be Boys". Don't know how long it'll remain, but hopefully it helps to chip away at the unvetted Palin Charlatans! I hope others who support outing the true Palin "Christian Family Values" as well as lifting the Media blackout of Shailey's story will also comment at NYT advocating that. Ironic that Kristof was one of the politicos on that AK cruise who met and promoted Palin to the GOP - but, hey - if they are allowing such commenting through - take advantage of it!

switched inadvertently/unknowingly even when I know the right name/word. However - very good articles by Kristof AND the rest of my comment is all factual as to the links! And, for the most part 99% of my comments don't contain these "mental typos", thank goodness! Still, time to lay low until this particular brain fog passes or I'll be unaware of when I post personally identifying contact information by mistake! Thanks so much for the correction!

So, how is Milquetoast Mitt, who cannot excite even 50% of the most devoted people in the GOP, going to spread Mitt fever across the nation in a way that will bind Dems, independents, and GOP voters alike in support of Señor Flácido?

I just don't see it happening.

Shit, Milquetoast Mitt makes BOB DOLE seem like more of a stud - E.D. and all - than Romney.

Romeny's going to have quite a slog, if he's below McCain at this point, and his quirky non ability to connect with people, bad singing, and bragging about his 1 percent buddies, the only chance for him to win is finding a conservative woman other than palin. So basically, he's screwed his foot to the floor and can only run circles while President Obama gains momentum.

    Sucks to be a Republican.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Techgnome9:52 PM

Mitt isn't dumb enough to run with either Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann. It's also likely that he realizes that two pasty faced old white guys standing together on stage isn't going to cut it either. He needs a woman or a minority or both for a running mate. With all the woman bashing that's been going on a woman has become almost mandatory so they can deny that the GOP is at war with women. New Mexico's first term Governor, Susana Martinez is an interesting possibility. She's obviously smarter that Bachmann and Palin combined. Someone with a thicker resume would be even better. Running with another woman whose primary qualification is her plumbing would be political suicide.

    ReplyDelete
  49. hauksdottir12:31 AM

Elder Romney can not and will not pick a woman as his running mate.

A couple of decades ago, when the VP basically went to funerals and chatted up the leadership of other countries, it may have been possible. However, VPs now have some real authority, based upon their portfolios, and often negotiate fairly sensitive issues. Mormons don't treat women as equals in business, and certainly wouldn't want them in government, giving orders to their staff.

Piyush Jindal may be a consideration: he isn't black nor hispanic, he is from The South, and he would bring energy and color to a really boring and self-contained candidate. He was born Hindu and switched to Catholicism, yet "[i]n 2007, Jindal ran for governor again and won. The victory was largely attributed to old-fashioned politicking, which included Jindal "giving testimony" in Pentecostal and Baptist churches in rural and remote sections of Louisiana."

    http://www.usnews.com/news/campaign-2008/articles/2008/05/22/10-things-you-didnt-know-about-bobby-jindal

Since he is a Rhodes Scholar, Jindal probably could hold his own if asked about what newspapers he reads. ;^)

Romney could also look for an Asian leader in government or in business. Economic warfare is as devastating as blowing things up, and harder to recover from in the long term. The entire Pacific region is "delicate" and choosing someone who understands the issues from both sides would be a decent idea. It would also be unexpected enough to get wake up the press.

Romney is at the same position in that poll as he was 4 years ago... despite spending multiple millions in saturation advertising. Even if he chooses an interesting and colorful sidekick, I just don't see him taking the Oath of Office next January. But, he'll have to try something.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Techgnome7:06 AM

Unfortunately for him Jindal is too ethnic for the GOP and too conservative for Romney. All that birther nonsense is based on a feeling that Obama represents a foreign influence. Jindal runs smack dab into the middle of those emotional responses. Regardless of his running mate's skin color the ticket will have to exude traditional white middle class values out of every pore.

And imagine what they would look like on stage. That ticket would shout desperation.
