Courtesy of NPR:
#MeToo rose to prominence as a social media campaign in the wake of high-profile accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. After actress Alyssa Milano popularized the hashtag, thousands of women began sharing their stories about the pervasive damage wrought by sexual harassment and by "open secrets" about abuse.
The movement's empowering reach could be seen in the platform on which Time announced its choice: the Today show. It was just one week ago that NBC fired the morning program's longtime and powerful co-host, Matt Lauer, over a detailed complaint of "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace."
While the most high-profile #MeToo stories have come from women and men who work in the movies and media, the Time article also features women who work hourly jobs, some of whom want to remain anonymous. The magazine's cover portrait includes strawberry picker Isabel Pascual, lobbyist Adama Iwu and former Uber engineer Susan Fowler along with Ashley Judd and Taylor Swift.
"The reckoning appears to have sprung up overnight. But it has actually been simmering for years, decades, centuries," Time's Stephanie Zacharek, Eliana Dockterman and Haley Sweetland Edwards write. "Women have had it with bosses and coworkers who not only cross boundaries but don't even seem to know that boundaries exist."
Actually when you think about it, and take into consideration how effective this movement has become, it would be an injustice to have given this honor to anybody else.
And that includes Donald Trump who, while he certainly has had a massive impact on the world, has been overshadowed by this movement which some day may even claim his wild unkempt mane among the scalps that it takes.
Speaking of Donald Trump's disappointment he will surely not be terribly happy that another foe of his was also honored recently.
Courtesy of Sports Illustrated:
After he accepted Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said he will continue combating racial injustice in America whether or not he returns to the NFL.
"I say this as a person who receives credit for using my platform to protest systemic oppression, racialized injustice and and the dire consequences of anti-blackness in America," Kaepernick said at SI's Sportsperson of the Year ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
"I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of the people. Because if it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested. And if it was not for the support from the people, I would not be on this stage today.
"With our without the NFL's platform, I will continue to work for the people because my platform is the people."
Yeah, Trump's Twitter fingers must be aching to respond to all of this.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

I would totally watch the hell out of this.
Courtesy of Joe Conason's Facebook page:
This is reportedly from a woman named Mary Davis, who posted it on her Facebook profile:
"You may have heard that the Trump people are freaking out that the performers for the Inauguration will be limited to Kid Rock and Ted Nugent. You know what would be really smart? If there was a televised "freedom concert" with huge celebrities like: Beyoncé and Jay Z, Madonna, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, et al., that aired at the same time as the inauguration.
"Imagine how mad 'Tiny Fingers' would be. He would totally lose all the ratings.
"And what if all the proceeds of the concert went to: the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Lambda Legal, NAACP, CAIR, IRAP, SPLC, Environmental Defense Fund, Human Rights Campaign Fund, GLAD.
"I would add that Alec Baldwin should MC the event playing Trump as he does on SNL."
Sounds like a plan to me.
Look there is NO way I am watching Trump's inauguration, so if there were something this entertaining to watch as an alternative I would be all over it.
And I bet just the idea that it would drive Trump out of his every loving mind would send the ratings through the roof.

Jon Stewart slams Mike Huckabee for attacking Beyonce for being a bad influence while supporting Ted Nugent, who is arguably SO much worse.
| Click the blob on the left to play video. |
“You excuse that type of crudeness because you agree with his stance on firearms,” Stewart said. “You don’t approve of BeyoncĂ© because she seems alien to you. Johnny Cash shot a man just to watch him die.”
Huckabee responded by saying Nugent did not get nominated for a Grammy for the song, nor did he perform it live on national television at the time.
“My point is, that song is an adult song, geared for adults,” the possible GOP presidential candidate argued. “But today, we have a very different kind of depiction and things that are considered perfectly OK for kids.”
“My point is, you can’t single out a corrosive culture, and ignore the one that you live in because you’re used to it,” Stewart countered.
......
“Do you know any parent who has a daughter that says, ‘Honey, if you make really good grades, someday when you’re 12 or 13, we’ll get you your own stripper pole,’?” Huckabee said. “I mean, come on Jon, we don’t do that in our culture.”
“I think that’s diminishing Beyonce in a way that’s truly outrageous,” Stewart replied.
I thought that much of what Huckabee said was incredibly ignorant and demonstrative of somebody who is pandering to quite literally the most undereducated Americans in the country. Let's call them his base.
By the way did anybody else notice that Huckabee seems to have found the weight that Chris Christie has been losing?
I don't know if that is simply due to a lack of self control, or if he has decided that the best way to pander to the white, middle age, overweight Americans is to transform himself into their physical doppelganger. But if it is the latter he should realize that his demographic is rapidly dying off from heart disease and type 2 diabetes at such a rate that by 2016 he will have only three fourths of them left to cast a ballot on his behalf.
P.S. You might have noticed that the interview above is edited quite heavily, so in the interest of complete truthiness (God I miss you Stephen Colbert!) here is a link to the entire unedited interview.

Ever since Sarah Palin faked her pregnancy, now every famous pregnant person is suspect. Update!
Courtesy of The Hollywood Gossip:
The National Enquirer screams on its latest cover that Kim Kardashian is faking her pregnancy because her "baby bump seems to change size and position… as she travels around the country."
Why would Kim possibly conduct such a hoax? Straight cash, of course.
Alleges the newspaper:
“A source close to Kim believes the star might have hatched a sensational scheme with her money-hungry momager Kris Jenner to fake her pregnancy while secretly having a surrogate mom carry a baby for her and her lover Kanye West."
Well... sure.
Asks the newspaper: “How convenient is it that Kim got pregnant just as she was making a mad push to wrap up her ongoing divorce from Kris Humhpries?”
And also:
“It also would be an insane coincidence that Kim just so happened to get pregnant soon after she learned the girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush - Lilit Avagyan - is pregnant.”
Okay now I don't think that Sarah Palin was the FIRST person to fake a pregnancy, but clearly her audacious, and successful, attempt to fool the public has meant that certain media outlets have scrutinized famous pregnancies with a particular eye out for frauds. (I have spoken to TWO different writers for the National Enquirer and they both accept as fact that Palin faked her pregnancy.)
Now as you know there was a lot of controversy surrounding Beyone's recent "pregnancy" as well. In THAT case I am on the side of that being a potential hoax.
However in Kardashian's case I really am not convinced that she is faking it. After reading this I Googled some images and it looks like her entire body is expanding, and NOT like somebody simply strapping on a empathy belly to fool the media.
However I would like to say that considering the fact that Klondike Kardashian seems to have based her life after leaving the governorship on the business model laid out by the ACTUAL Kardashians, it would be rather ironic if Kim were returning the favor by taking a page out of the Palin playbook as well.
I'm just saying.
Update! You know the first thing I think of WHENEVER anybody questions the validity of a pregnancy, is that if the local press in Alaska had demonstrated even a fraction of that kind of skepticism about Palin's pregnancy she would have been quickly found out and it would have dramatically changed the face of politics in the country today.
Kind of makes you pissed off at the ADN all over again doesn't it?

Hollywood joins the effort against gun violence.
Courtesy of USA Today:
A group of Hollywood celebrities has a message to share about gun violence.
Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez, Jaime Foxx, Conan O'Brien, Ellen DeGeneres and other entertainers are appearing in a PSA calling on Americans to "demand a plan" to stop gun violence.
"How many more?" the stars ask, before action will be taken.
No more "if we had just done something yesterday," says Aniston in the video, which was released Friday.
Well THAT ought to get some attention.
Of course the NRA supporters will simply say that the fault for the increase in violence is on the heads of these actors who participate in fake violence in movies, instead of putting the blame on the accessibility of weapons which allow unhinged people to perpetrate REAL violence in our elementary school classrooms.

If the women turn out to vote in November, President Obama wins. It's as simple as that.
Courtesy of Quinnipiac:
An 18 point lead among women puts President Barack Obama ahead of Gov. Mitt Romney 49 - 45 percent among likely voters nationwide, and voters expect 54 - 28 percent that the president will win the debates, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.
"It is also very difficult to win an election when you are getting shellacked among women, the group that makes up about half the electorate."
So essentially if women turn up to the polls in large enough numbers we will see the landslide that we all hope for in November.
And it certainly looks as if the ladies are motivated.
Beyonce, Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lopez, Eva Langoria, Jane Lynch, Gloria Steinem, hell that is a pretty impressive list of accomplished women to have working to get you elected. And somehow I think that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Beyonce's claim that she dropped sixty pounds since the birth of her baby, has reopened speculation that she faked her pregnancy.
Apparently while on stage in Atlantic City Beyonce recently claimed the following:
“Y’all have no idea how hard I worked. I had to lose 60 pounds. They had me on that treadmill. I ate lettuce!”
Beyonce gave birth in early January, after rumors started to swirl that she was not actually pregnant.
After the arrival of the baby, named Blue Ivy Carter, interest in the possible faked pregnancy began to wane. But now with Beyonce making such unbelievable claims of this incredible weight loss tongues are once again wagging:
People only just started letting this “fake Beyonce pregnancy” thing go. And then girlfriend had to open her mouth about this half-a-person weight-loss garbage. Maybe girl should keep her damn mouth shut and let sleeping dogs lie, you know?
Now for the record THIS is what Beyonce looked like weeks before she gave birth.
THAT is sixty pounds of baby weight? On what planet?
And this is what she looks like now.
You know to me it looks like her arms, legs, and face are relatively the same size. The only difference I see is in her stomach.
Hmm now where have I seen that kind of bizarre weight gain during a pregnancy before?
Oh yeah, that's right!
And speaking of rapid loss of baby fat, here is Palin only five months after Trig's "birth."
I know that some of you consider the Beyonce pregnancy story to be a distraction, but in my opinion if she is ever called out publicly for faking a pregnancy, than we have very fertile ground for informing people about Palin's faked pregnancy. Don'tcha think?

Is Catherine Baldwin-Johnson plying her trade in New York City now?
Courtesy of New York Times:
A very pregnant BeyoncĂ© had checked into the upper East Side hospital on Friday night under the name “Ingrid Jackson,” a hospital staffer told the Daily News.
BeyoncĂ© and her hip-hop hubby, whose real name is Shawn Carter, rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for $1.3 million, the employee said.
After 11 p.m., even doctors and nurses were barred from entering the fourth floor, prompting one doc to complain that he had patients to see.
In an effort to keep images from leaking to the public, hospital workers placed tape over security cameras and are forcing employees to turn in cell phones when they arrive for their shifts, a source said.
Several security guards were spotted patrolling the perimeter of the hospital Saturday night.
I know that some of you dislike it when I talk about Beyonce and compare her strange "pregnancy" to Palin's, but come on!
If anything she has simply improved on the deception.
Private security? Taping over the cameras? Taking the cell phones away from employees?
Palin only wishes she had thought of those things!
And believe me, I am not alone in calling bullshit.
This from the comments section at TMZ:
"The goal, keeping Beyonce's delivery under wraps, succeeded admirably -- no pictures of Bey or hubby Jay-Z entering or exiting the hospital have emerged ... and she hasn't been seen at all since Thursday"
How convenient! Its like SHE didn't give birth to the baby at all..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
thats because Beyonce wasnt even pregnant lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gotta keep that non-delivery super secret. Wake up people. She was NEVER pregnant. The baby is either being carried by a surrogate or the baby is adopted.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She was never pregnant. Her face and breasts never made the usual changes a pregnant woman has - it is all a farce. Do they really think everyone is that stupid? Someone got paid a LOT to carry a baby for them - why not just be honest? Plastic people.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder, after something like this, if MORE of the media might not be willing to look a little harder at Sarah Palin's "pregnancy?" Now that there is an example of another celebrity pulling off the same hoax I mean?

Beyonce releases questionable video "proving" she is pregnant.
The following video was JUST posted that purports to have been filmed on September 23 of this year.
Check out how bizarre Beyonce is acting, and what method she chooses to "prove" that she is indeed pregnant, and as far along as she claims.
Here is what Media Takeout had to say about this video:
Beyonce just released a NEW VIDEO, which was filmed two months ago. According to Beyonce, she is now 8 MONTHS pregnant (She claimed that she was 6 months in the video, which was filmed in September).
We have a lot to say about this. First off, who starts off a video saying, "Today is September 23rd" unless it's not September 23rd. If you have the paper with you why wouldn't you say something like "This is today's paper". Second, if this video was filmed TWO MONTHS ago, why are we just seeing it now?
But more importantly, if she is 8 months regnant, wouldn't her due date be JANUARY (Cause she'll be 9 months in December). That seems DD .. . since she told an Australian journalist a few months back that her due date was in FEBRUARY.
Inconsistent belly size, fluctuating due dates, is anybody else getting an overwhelming a sense of deja vu?
I am finding myself more and more intrigued by this story, mostly because of how it parallels Palin's pregnancy hoax. Only THIS time people are on the ball and starting to call her out.
It keeps reminding me of what COULD have been if the Alaska press had paid more attention to the few rumors swirling around at that time saying she wasn't pregnant.
Just imagine ALL that would have been changed by a more courageous, and less self serving, local press.
By the way, for comparison here is Sarah Palin supposedly a little over six months "pregnant."
I would say that Beyonce is putting substantially more effort into her fake pregnancy than Palin bothered to do, and yet people are STILL not buying it. I wonder if Palin's hoax has made some people hyper aware of the possibility that things are not always as they seem?
And once again Beyonce, just like Sarah Palin before her, could put all of this to rest simply by showing her uncovered tummy as well. After all clearly she is aware of the controversy.

Beyonce's possibly fake pregnancy is getting the kind of scrutiny we all wish Sarah Palin had received. But didn't.
Okay I have only had a passing interest in this Beyonce fake pregnancy story up until now, and in fact was not COMPLETELY convinced it was indeed fake.
But the evidence is mounting.
Yesterday Beyonce was out promoting her NEW DVD. She looked AMAZING as usual. But she accidentally let what appears to be a PROSTHETIC slip out.
Now we can't say for CERTAIN that's a prosthetic, but it sure as HECK looks like one. Which makes us ask the question - Gee we wonder why a PREGNANT WOMAN - who is supposed to have a BIGGER BUST would need prosthetics? We also wonder what OTHER prosthetics the chick has on .
Okay so here is one of the pictures that appear to show something hinky with Beyonce's chest.
I figured since those of us on this blog are seasoned fake pregnancy spotters, I would leave it up to you to determine if Beyonce is pulling a "Palin" or not.
What do you think?

Is Beyonce attempting a fake pregnancy ala Sarah Palin?
Tweets are talking about BeyoncĂ©’s prosthetic baby bump on last night’s Sunday Night HD. At first we couldn’t believe that she would actually wear her prosthetic on a show with HD — high definition — in the show’s title. But you know what they say about narcissists who think they are smarter than everyone else around them.
So there was Bey sitting down on the set — and there was her prosthetic baby bump, folding, crumpling and collapsing in full, vibrant high definition!
Luckily, the prosthetic is that memory foam type that bounced right back into shape. Rumor has it that Beyoncé is wearing a fake prosthetic while her unknown surrogate carries her baby to term.
Gee where have we all seen THIS movie before?
However it looks like Beyonce had the sense to purchase a more convincing baby bump. (Though she apparently failed to read the directions concerning how to carefully sit down so that it does not fold over on high definition TV.)
Still you have to admit that it is a far cry from the methods used by that pioneer in the field of faking a pregnancy, Sarah Palin.
Such an amateur. If she had not been surrounded by imbeciles there is NO way she could have pulled it off.
P.S. you can see the video of Beyonce's tummy folding over by clicking here. (Just forward to the 0:58 mark.)
