Time Magazine chooses its "Person of the Year." It ain't Donald Trump.

#MeToo rose to prominence as a social media campaign in the wake of high-profile accusations against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. After actress Alyssa Milano popularized the hashtag, thousands of women began sharing their stories about the pervasive damage wrought by sexual harassment and by "open secrets" about abuse. 

The movement's empowering reach could be seen in the platform on which Time announced its choice: the Today show. It was just one week ago that NBC fired the morning program's longtime and powerful co-host, Matt Lauer, over a detailed complaint of "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace." 

While the most high-profile #MeToo stories have come from women and men who work in the movies and media, the Time article also features women who work hourly jobs, some of whom want to remain anonymous. The magazine's cover portrait includes strawberry picker Isabel Pascual, lobbyist Adama Iwu and former Uber engineer Susan Fowler along with Ashley Judd and Taylor Swift. 

"The reckoning appears to have sprung up overnight. But it has actually been simmering for years, decades, centuries," Time's Stephanie Zacharek, Eliana Dockterman and Haley Sweetland Edwards write. "Women have had it with bosses and coworkers who not only cross boundaries but don't even seem to know that boundaries exist."

Actually when you think about it, and take into consideration how effective this movement has become, it would be an injustice to have given this honor to anybody else.

And that includes Donald Trump who, while he certainly has had a massive impact on the world, has been overshadowed by this movement which some day may even claim his wild unkempt mane among the scalps that it takes.

Speaking of Donald Trump's disappointment he will surely not be terribly happy that another foe of his was also honored recently.

After he accepted Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said he will continue combating racial injustice in America whether or not he returns to the NFL. 

"I say this as a person who receives credit for using my platform to protest systemic oppression, racialized injustice and and the dire consequences of anti-blackness in America," Kaepernick said at SI's Sportsperson of the Year ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. 

"I accept this award not for myself, but on behalf of the people. Because if it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested. And if it was not for the support from the people, I would not be on this stage today. 

"With our without the NFL's platform, I will continue to work for the people because my platform is the people." 

Yeah, Trump's Twitter fingers must be aching to respond to all of this.

Wyoming mayor takes down portraits of Donald Trump and Mike Pence and puts up photo of Native American chief instead.

A Wyoming mayor’s decision to remove portraits of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from the town hall and replace them with a picture of a Native American chief has some community members up in arms. 

Mayor Pete Muldoon of Jackson, Wyoming, directed town staff members to make the swap on June 5, saying there is no requirement to have a picture of the president displayed in the building. 

“When the Town Of Jackson decides to honor such a divisive person, it is taking sides against some of its residents,” Muldoon said in the statement. “The Town Council has made no such decision, and until and unless it does, that kind of honor will not be bestowed.”

Muldoon said he isn’t sure who hung the photographs of Trump and Pence in January, but that the town council, a non-partisan body, never authorized their display. 

“We aren’t required to display signs of respect ― our respect is earned, not demanded,” Muldoon said. “Dictators like Joseph Stalin required their portraits to be displayed everywhere. Luckily, we do not live in a dictatorship.”

And this is in Wyoming?  Damn that's awesome!

Apparently the pictures of the current president of the united States has had a place on the wall of this town hall since the 1800's, but that was before we got stuck with this Russian operative.

Some of the residents are not happy with this decision, but I am willing to bet that they will be coming around at some point.

Donald Trump's was figure unveiled at Madame Tussauds. Just as hideous as you might imagine.

A Donald Trump waxwork complete with his bronze tan and trademark blonde quiff has been unveiled at Madame Tussauds ahead of his presidential inauguration. 

A lifelike mannequin of the soon-to-be 45th President of the United States stands in a mocked up Oval Office at the London attraction replacing his White House predecessor Barack Obama.

Personally I think it looks a little too svelte and does not capture the real essence of the pig. 

For my money this does a far better job.

President Obama awarding Joe Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom is the video we all deserve to see at the end of the day.

I swear that it seems that all President Obama wants to do these days is hit me right in the feels.

At this point I am just grabbing a box of tissues every time I see him step to the lectern.

You can literally FEEL the love between these two men, and watching them together is now like an antidote to the blues.

I am not going to bother telling you all that I am going to miss these two, because I think by this point we are all on the same page.

So apparently French reads here and saw that we did a post on Bristol being honored by that third rate Fox News wannabe.

So Nancy French, who is surely attracting interest from various psychiatrists by now, decided to thank Newsmax for honoring her work channeling Bristol Palin:

Holy crap!

So just mull this around for a second.

Here is a grown ass woman, pretending to be a twenty five year old single mother of two, now thanking a right wing rag, or honoring her work as that twenty five year old mother of two, which the twenty five year old's mother pays her to create, in order to give the twenty five year old some semblance of respectability and intellect.

I would attempt to explain that further but I am afraid if I did it would somehow give away the plot to the movie Inception. 

Speaking of obfuscation Bristol's plan to divert attention away from her paternity argument with Dakota Meyer seems to be working as several tabloids are now talking about her most recent picture of Sailor Grace Palin.

Yep, babies are cute.

Statue of Satan placed in US Capitol. Oh wait, that's Dick Cheney.

I don;t know, still kinda looks like Satan to me.

A marble bust of former Vice President Dick Cheney was officially unveiled today in the U.S. Capitol. During a mid-day ceremony, Cheney was introduced by his former boss, President George W. Bush. 

“I must confess I’m somewhat reluctant to come back to Washington. The last time I showed up here I was hanged in the White House,” Bush said in reference to his official portrait. “This time I’ve returned only to find my vice president getting busted in the Capitol.” 

President Bush said that when he told his father, President George H.W. Bush, he would be attending today’s ceremony, “Dad perked up and he said, ‘Send my best regards to old iron-a**.’”

Well all I can say is that when tourists visit the Capital, and find themselves with a mouthful of saliva, now they know where to deposit it.

Not that I am advocating any type of vandalism, after all I'm pretty sure that is some kind of federal offense and I'm too pretty for prison, but you know some kind of gesture just to express your emotions at seeing this bust seems appropriate.

To be serious for a moment, Dick Cheney is a war criminal and traitor to this country. The only place he should be immortalized is on a list of the worst politicians in the history of the United States.

Navy to name combat ship after Gabrielle Giffords. In my opinion that will make it virtually unsinkable!

In other news Giffords was on hand as President Obama signed her last piece of legislation into law.

In yet another break with tradition, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus announced Friday that a new Littoral Combat Ship would be named for Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona congresswoman who survived a January 2011 assassination attempt. 

“The selection of Gabrielle Giffords, designated LCS 10, honors the former Congresswoman from Tucson, Arizona, who is known for supporting the military and veterans, advocating for renewable energy and championing border security,” the Navy said in a statement accompanying the announcement. 

Roxanna Green, whose 9-year-old daughter Christina-Taylor Green was killed in the shooting, was named sponsor of the ship. 

“Giffords and the ship’s sponsor, Roxanna Green, are sources of great inspiration and represent the Navy and Marine Corps qualities of overcoming, adapting and coming out victorious despite great challenges," Mabus said. 

The future Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) will be an Independence LCS 2-class ship. Funded in the 2012 budget, its construction contract is expected to be awarded in the first half of this year to Austal USA in Mobile, Ala.

Okay that is just awesome!

A high school student in Arkansas was blocked from receiving sole valedictorian honors this summer, despite earning the highest G.P.A. in her class and receiving only a single B in her four years at McGehee Secondary School. Kymberly Wimberly’s offense? She’s black. School administrators worried that Wimberly’s accomplishment would result in a “big mess” at the majority-white school, so Principal Darrell Thompson told the student’s mother “that he decided to name a white student as co-valedictorian,” even though the white student had a lower G.P.A. The matter is currently pending in federal court.

Let me remind you that today's date is July 29, 2011, NOT July 29, 1965.

Today we also have a black man in the White House, a female Secretary of State, and a personal computer in virtually every one of our homes.  Yet in Arkansas a black female CANNOT take her place as valedictorian of her high school without having a white person assigned to share in her moment.

If certain people get into positions of power in this country, this is but a hint of the things to come.

The Queen of England honors our President. And you know, I think she meant it!

Wow!  That was quite impressive.

You know I cannot help but notice that while Sarah Palin cannot even get an audience with the severely ill, and dementia stricken Margaret Thatcher, that President Obama is warmly welcomed by the Queen, who has certainly seen her share of presidents, prime ministers, and royalty, yet seems truly impressed with our most current leader.

I don't know about all of you, but this picture makes me very proud of who we have in the White House.
