Well apparently this is in response to their review of his restaurant in Trump Tower. Calling it "The Worst Restaurant in America."

I especially like this part:As my companions and I contemplated the most painless way to eat our flaccid, gray Szechuan dumplings with their flaccid, gray innards, as a campy version of “Jingle Bells” jackhammered in the background, a giant gold box tied with red ribbon toppled onto us. Trump, it seemed, was already fighting against the War on Christmas.

It should also be noted that there is a long standing feud between Trump and the editor of Vanity Fair,  Graydon Carter, who was famously the person who first described Trump as a "short fingered vulgarian."

Next target, the media.

Actually the White House announced almost a month before the election that there was evidence that Russia was meddling in the election.

If they had spoken out more aggressively to declare that the election was now tainted, there would have been a huge outcry from the Republicans and Right Wing news outlets saying that the Obama Administration were themselves now interfering with the outcome of the election.

The White House really could not do anything except hope that the media did their jobs, and that the American people were smart enough to see through Trump's bullshit.

Sadly they were disappointed on both fronts.

And that my friends is a preview of the next four years.

Donald Trump rails against the kinds of FDA guidelines that might have saved the life of a customer who died after eating in one of his restaurants.

Last Thursday, the Trump campaign issued—and then quickly deleted—a rant against the “FDA food police,” listing it as one of several “specific regulations to be eliminated” in his new economic plan. Among other things, the campaign whined about the Food and Drug Administration’s standards for “farm and food production hygiene,” safe cooking temperatures, and even “dog food.” 

But these are the exact safety measures that help prevent foodborne illness outbreaks like the one that affected the Purgatorio family in 1989. In fact, the Trump business empire has a long and illustrious history of food poisoning cases and safety violations. 

According to a 1991 Associated Press report, Kathleen and Thomas Purgatorio, then in their sixties, ate the “salmonella-tainted mousse” at a restaurant called Buffet by the Sea in Trump’s Castle Hotel and Casino on Oct. 16, 1989. Kathleen felt sick afterwards, Purgatorio-Howard recalls, but nowhere near as ill as her father who she told The Daily Beast “went from walking into the hospital to being in intensive care on a ventilator in a coma.” 

“He was in critical care from October to December,” Purgatorio-Howard recalled. “We brought him home. We kept him in the living room in a hospital bed. He was in distress the whole time and then, in January, he went back to the hospital and died.”

Purgatorio-Howard, along with others, sued Donald Trump and her case was settled for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Apparently over 100 people were sickened over a span of four days by that same mousse dish.

And this is not an isolated incident either.

Trump-owned restaurants have been cited over the years for serving month-old caviar, expired veal stock and yogurt, and eggs, cream and sausages that had been stored at unsafe temperatures. 

“The DJT restaurant in the Trump hotel (in Las Vegas) is described on its website as ‘elegant’ and ‘in a class by itself,’” reported KTNV-TV in a 2013 “dirty dining” exposé. “It is indeed in a class by itself this week, receiving the highest number of demerits of all restaurants health inspectors visited.”

Newspaper reports from 1992 show Trump’s properties had “the worst track record for food-related health problems among Atlantic City’s 12 casinos,” with five salmonella outbreaks dating back to 1984. 

“We find it highly unusual that most of our problems in Atlantic City have been associated with the Trump properties,” a health department official for the city said at the time. “The physical part of the [establishments] is top-of-the-line but it all boils down to extremely poor food handling.”

This guy cannot even serve a brunch that does not potentially place his customer's lives at risk and yet he wants to run our country?

And you know that if he were to be President that he would ABSOLUTELY attempt to water down those FDA regulations. And cut taxes for big businesses, and relax EPA restrictions, and do every other thing in his power to make it easier for his businesses to make a higher profit.

Because let's face it, EVERYTHING this guy does is to benefit himself in some way, and he cares NOTHING for the American people.

So what if his contractors don't get paid for the work they provide?

So what if the customers in his restaurants get sick and die after eating in them?

So what if the American people suffer immensely under his administration?

All that ever matters is the bottom line, and the bottom line is how much money can he funnel into his bank account?

I have no idea how people are fooled by this idiot. And the fact that he was chosen as the candidate for the Republican party is an indictment of the GOP.

If he were to win the election that would be an indictment of our whole country.

In Utah you can get your fish and chips with a side of shock that your server is wearing a gun on their hip.

The first things you notice are the smell of freshly fried cod and the fact that the men serving it up are wearing kilts. 

It’s only afterward that you notice the waiters are carrying not just trays of food – but pistols, too. 

You’re tempted to ask: “Is that a gun in your sporran or are you just pleased to see me?” Actually, these guys wear their firearms neatly tucked into their waistbands, or in side holsters amid the tartan folds. 

Tony Siebers was carrying his loaded 9mm Sky semiautomatic – made in America, he pointed out – in the top of his Black Watch tartan kilt, as he buzzed around the restaurant he owns in Ogden, Utah, getting ready for the Good Friday dinner rush. 

“It doesn’t come out unless there is an emergency,” he said, patting the black handle of the pistol.

The "emergency" the owner is talking about is a robbery, which if one were to occur in the restaurant he can now insure will be met with a hail of bullets though the majority of robberies do not involve actual gun play.

And while perhaps the probability of a robbery has been reduced by some small percent, the possibility of an accidental shooting within the restaurant seems to have gone up quite dramatically.

Not that I have any plans to visit Utah anytime in the near future, but if I did  you can bet this is one eatery that I would take great pains to avoid.

Diner stops giving 15% discounts to customers who pray before meals. In other words, there was a diner that gave 15% discounts to people that prayed!

A North Carolina diner has stopped giving discounts to customers who pray in public after an atheist organization threatened to sue. 

The Freedom From Religion Foundation wrote a letter to Mary Haglund, owner of Mary’s Gourmet Diner, threatening legal action if the diner did not drop the 15 percent discount for praying because it violated the Civil Rights Act. 

The “promotional practice favors religious customers, and denies customers who do not pray and nonbelievers the right to ‘full and equal’ enjoyment of Mary’s Gourmet Diner,” attorney Elizabeth Cavell wrote in the letter. 

Following the letter, Haglund posted a note on the diner door informing customers that the 15 percent discount will no longer be allowed.

Okay look I know that sometimes religious people have a hard time understanding that not everybody sees the world as they do, but seriously how hard wast to realize that this was incredibly discriminatory? 

It would be like a Jewish butcher offering 15% off if their customers would drop trou to prove they were circumcised.

Kind of like 15% off for proving you had 5% off.

It kind of makes me wonder how many Atheists went into Mary's Diner, bowed their heads, and muttered under their breath "Hail Satan, Lord of Darkness, thank you for this meal, and for helping us to get 15% off on the check?"

While taking President Obama's order employee in Texas restaurant speaks out in support of gay rights, and receives fist bump in return.

Daniel Rugg Webb, a comedian, artist and musician, as well as an employee at Franklin Barbecue in Austin, seized the opportunity to make his voice heard when he found out Potus was visiting the food joint on Thursday, The Austin Chronicle reported. 

When the President approached the till, Webb, 32, cast his hand down onto the counter and said: “Equal rights for gay people!” 

Obama responded: “Are you gay?! 

To which Webb replied: “Only when I have sex.” 

Laughing, the President told Webb to “bump me” and the pair knocked their fists together. 

The exchange was captured in a photograph, which has since been widely shared on the internet. Obama is reported to have spent $300 (£175) in the restaurant.

So not only did the President share a joke one with one of the  rarest creatures known to man, an openly gay man living in Texas, but he also gave him the dreaded terrorist fist bump. Conservative heads must be exploding all over Texas.

Here's my favorite part of the article:

“If Rick Perry (the governor of Texas) would've walked in, I would have lost my job. I would've taken that old queen to town,” Webb said.

Now as much as I enjoyed reading about this exchange part of me really wishes that Rick Perry would have shown up instead with a gaggle of reporters in tow. 

THAT just might have been epic.

Sonic and Chili's become latest restaurant chains to ban guns.

Chili’s and Sonic became the latest national chains to wade into the gun debate on Friday, announcing in apparently coordinated statements that firearms are no longer welcome in their restaurants. 

In separate statements to The Huffington Post, the companies said that they were asking customers not to openly carry firearms in their eateries, following a similar move by Chipotle earlier this month. 

“We recognize that the open carry of firearms creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws,” Ashley Johnson, a spokeswoman for Chili's' parent company, Brinker International, said in an email. “So, we kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.” 

A Sonic spokesman said the company will defer to local laws with respect to storing guns in vehicles, but said it will no longer permit firearms in its dining areas. 

“We’re asking that customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas,” said Patrick Lenow, Sonic's vice president of public relations.

What did I say about the outcome from having all of these open carry dipshits walking around with their metal penis extenders on display? And I hope that many other eating establishments will follow suit.

Yesterday somebody provided a link that labeled these 2nd Amendment fetishists, "Ammosexuals."

THAT is going to be my new label going forward.

Damn I don't have a Sonic up here to reward with my business, and the Chili's up the street just closed, but I'm sure there are a few more in town so I think I will plan to eat there sometime this week.

Video shows Open Carry advocates confused by negative response from restaurant patrons.

Two videos posted on YouTube on May 19 by the San Antonio chapter of Open Carry Texas—since removed from public view but obtained by Mother Jones—show its armed members being refused service at both restaurants. The two companies have not made official statements on open carry but have since indicated that they are reviewing their policies. From the nervous and angry reactions of some patrons to comments from some of the gun activists themselves, it's not difficult to see why these spectacles haven't been winning many people over. 

When a young woman approaches the group in Chili's and expresses her dismay, a guy with an assault rifle strapped across his back offers her a flyer. "Um actually, there's children here," she replies, "and you're a dumbass." As she walks away one member of the group comments mockingly, "Yes, I'm a dumbass," and then says of her, "must be Moms Demand Action," referring to the national gun reform group. 

In the Sonic video, as the thwarted gun group lingers in an adjacent parking lot, one member says: "I just wish I had my kids in there when that one dumb chick come up and started rattin' her mouth."

Personally I think these inbred morons should keep right on showing up at restaurants with those long guns and their bellies hanging over their belts. 

They might literally do more to usher in stricter gun control laws, than the recent mass shootings have managed to do.

Which, of course, is nothing.

Open Carry Texas has asked its members to "immediately cease taking long guns into corporate businesses." Oops, looks like SOMEBODY finally figured out they are doing more harm than good.

Here is a portion of the statement sent to Open Carry members:  

Whereas, our mission is to get open carry of handguns passed in Texas, we must once again adjust in a way that shines a positive light on our efforts, our members, and our respective organizations. We have decided the prudent path, to further our goals, is to immediately cease taking long guns into corporate businesses unless invited. Black Powder revolvers have proven to be very effective and align with our goal of legalizing open carry with a handgun. We do understand that not everyone will be able to afford one, but if you can, we are requesting you do so. Almost every leader has gone to Black powder for a reason. It works. 

For all further open carry walks with long guns, we are adopting the following unified protocol and general policy to best ensure meeting our respective legislative mission to legalize open carry: 

1) Always notify local law enforcement prior to the walk, especially the day of 
2) Carry Flags and signs during your walk to increase awareness 
3) Carry the long gun on a sling, not held 
4) Do not go into corporate businesses without prior permission, preferably not at all 
5) If asked to leave, do so quietly and do not make it a problem 
6) Do not post pics publicly if you do get permission and are able to OC in a cooperate business 
7) Do not go into businesses with TABC signs posted with a long gun (Ever) 
8) If at all possible, keep to local small businesses that are 2A friendly.

I mentioned earlier that these idiots were actually helping the gun control advocates, and damaging their cause, with their "Rambo goes to lunch" antics.

Now it looks as if they are finally starting to figure that out as well.

All little slow on the uptake, but they're getting there.

Daily Show host Jon Stewart ripped on gun enthusiasts and the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Tuesday for their latest attacks on alleged “threats” to the Second Amendment, and their habit of responding to them with “open carry” protests at Texas fast-food restaurants. 

“We all know the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun with a good guy with a gun,” Stewart said, reciting a gun lobby talking point. “But here’s the problem with open-carrying of assault rifles: no one else in that Chipotle knows you’re a good guy. They just know you have a gun.”

On the second clip Stewart had this to say:  

“What kind of gun is a threat to the Second Amendment?” Stewart asked. “A gun that shoots other guns? A gun that goes back in time and kills amendments?”

I thought Stewart made a number of excellent points, and he did so while making it pretty funny.

No wonder the Right Wing hates this guy.

Chipotle is asking its customers to leave their firearms at home after it says some gun advocates staged an "open-carry" demonstration in one of its Texas restaurants. 

"Recently participants from an 'open carry' demonstration in Texas brought guns (including military-style assault rifles) into one of our restaurants, causing many of our customers anxiety and discomfort," the company said Monday in a statement, as quoted by Dallas TV station KTVT. "Because of this, we are respectfully asking that customers not bring guns into our restaurants, unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel." 

The burrito chain's announcement followed a petition by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, the gun control group backed by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, asking the company to ban firearms in response to a group of gun advocates who carried rifles over the weekend into a Chipotle in the Dallas area. 

Chipotle's statement did not say the company was banning firearms from its restaurants entirely and acknowledged "there are strong arguments on both sides" of the gun control issue." 

"The vast majority of gun owners are responsible citizens and we appreciate them honoring this request," the statement read. "And we hope that our customers who oppose the carrying of guns in public agree with us that it is the role of elected officials and the legislative process to set policy in this area, not the role of businesses like Chipotle.”

You know I mentioned before that perhaps the best advocates for better gun control were 2nd Amendment advocates themselves. Looks like I was onto something.

It is remarkably dense of these gun nuts to think that everyday citizens will be comforted by watching them walk around with AR-15's slung over their shoulders.

The more they walk around like a bunch of overfed Rambo wannabes, the more they are going to freak out the average American who simply wants to enjoy their burrito or Starbucks coffee without worrying they will have to dive under their table in order to avoid incoming gunfire.

Religious woman threatens restaurant staff with hell if they make her pay bill, gets arrested, and now her church is picketing them. Man I wish I was making this up!

A Florida woman and her mother have been arrested for skipping out on a restaurant check after the daughter told the cashier that she would go to heaven if the meal was free, or go to hell if she insisted on charging the meal to her credit card. 

According to NewsChief.com, Willie “Mother” Lewis, 78, and her daughter Ruthena Lewis, 44, ate breakfast at the A&G Restaurant in Winter Haven, Florida, with the bill coming to $18.46.

After finishing, Ruthena Lewis took her mother out to the car and then returned to the restaurant to pay her bill. Lewis presented A&G cashier Crystal Henson with her credit card which was subsequently declined. According to the restaurant staff, Lewis held the cancel button down as the Henson attempted to process the charge. 

According to the police report, “(Ruthena Lewis) stated to (Henson) that if she gave them the meal for free she would go to heaven. If she ran the credit card again, she would go to hell.” 

Lewis then handed the cashier a business card with the name of her church pastor , Bishop Joseph Lewis of the Church of God the Bible Way, on it, saying to call him and he would pay the bill. Lewis is not related to the two women. 

Ruthena Lewis then left the restaurant, got into her car with her mother and drove off, however a restaurant employee got her license number and turned it over to Winter Haven police, who arrested the pair soon after. 

The mother, Willie Lewis, who was in the car and couldn’t see what had transpired, had $80 cash in her purse at the time of her arrest. 

Following the arrest Bishop Joseph Lewis went to the restaurant and paid the women’s bill, getting assurances from owner George Paragios that he would ask police to drop charges against the women. 

According to police reports, officers arrived at the restaurant to have Paragios sign a waiver of prosecution and Paragios declined. 

Since that time, members of the Church of God the Bible Way have been picketing A&G Restaurant urging customers to stay away.

Let's see, so you threaten that people who make you pay for food will burn in hell, drive off without paying even though you have the money, and then have your church members try to bankrupt the restaurant for holding you accountable.

This must be an example of the kind of morals that one can only get through religion. 

Country star Toby Keith opens a new restaurant in Virginia. "No Guns Permitted" sign on the front door. Cue the rootin tootin six gun shootin outrage.

A big country star opened a huge, new restaurant last week in Woodbridge, Va. But a house rule for the new establishment is roiling some Virginians: no guns are allowed inside. 

Toby Keith is not only a hugely successful country star (and actor), he also has personally opened a couple of restaurants, and through other companies, has now expanded those establishments into about a dozen cities. 

The latest Toby Keith restaurant opened in Woodbridge. Prominently displayed on the front door is a sign saying: “NO GUNS PERMITTED.” 

Virginia happens to be a gun-friendly state, where it’s quite permissible for citizens to strap on a weapon and go into a bar or restaurant, as long as the weapon is clearly visible. State law is silent on the issue of drinking while openly carrying a gun. (State law does prohibit most citizens who are legally carrying a concealed weapon from consuming alcohol, but they, too, are allowed to go into a bar or restaurant.) 

The owners have the right to say "no" to firearms, and that's the rule at Keith's Woodbridge restaurant. 

Facebook has erupted over the issue, with one patron saying she's "disappointed" and believes the no guns policy announces to criminals that "anyone leaving your establishment is likely completely defenseless and easy pickin's for a robbery." That poster said she will not patronize the new Toby Keith restaurant. 

Another person wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page: the no guns policy is "sad" and it creates a "more dangerous environment." 

That's right keeping guns OUT of a bar or restaurant makes the establishments MORE dangerous.

Just like keeping sharks OUT of indoor salt water pools increases the number of shark bites.

And how dare Mr. Fancy Pants Country Star go out of his way to protect his patrons from flying bullets. Doesn't he know what country he is doing business in?

I imagine that much like the brouhaha over the Duck Dynasty dipshit that the paint chip eaters will petition and protest until Keith caves and allows guns in the building and starts selling ammunition as a side dish. After all you can't reason with people who think the Constitution was written by Jesus himself, and that he signed it with a spray of gunfire.

Something to think about the next time you are considering how much to tip your waitress.

This comes to you courtesy of my sister who has worked her entire life as either a waitress or a bartender, and in honor of my mother who raised three children while working as both a waitress and a bartender.

I have only ever once forgotten to tip my waitress. It happened the night of my prom, while eating at the restaurant my mother was working at.

Our waitress was her best friend, and somehow between three couples none of us remembered to leave a tip, even though two of us were working as busboys at the time.

The next morning my mother burst into my room and started yelling at me, telling me that I had made her friend cry because she thought she had done something wrong and that I was mad at her.

I was both horrified and embarrassed.

Needless to say she got her tip, and it was quite generous, I have NEVER once forgotten to leave a tip since.

And I never will.

Last night's Top Ten, and yet another reason why I avoid "bucket food" restaurants.

I saw the original videos posted on Reddit the other day, and was so disgusted by them that I had a hard time eating my own dinner.

I hate places like the Golden Corral and simply refuse to go there regardless of what others in my family may want.

That WAS a funny Top Ten by Letterman however.

Certain loud mouthed restaurant owner's anti-Obama rhetoric has resulted in negative perception from consumers.

Anti-Obamacare rhetoric from Papa John’s CEO and a major Applebee’s franchise owner appear to have driven down both chains’ consumer perception with casual dining eaters in the US, and are still impacted two weeks after those remarks were made. 

Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter’s post-Election Day comments about passing on health care reform costs by reducing worker hours and raising prices coincides with a swift negative reaction among casual food diners seemingly accelerated by the November 13th class action lawsuit accusing Papa John's of sending unsolicited text messages to customers. 

Despite Schnatter’s Huffington Post op-ed on November 20th claiming his words were twisted, Papa John’s perception levels continued to experience one of its sharpest drops of the year, sending it well below rival Pizza Hut. 

Zane Tankel, the CEO of Applebee’s franchisee Apple-Metro, appeared on Business News and made similar comments, saying Obamacare would force him not to hire any more workers and consider cutting their hours. Applebee’s perception had dropped since his TV appearance. 

One exception to these two examples is Denny’s. Franchisee John Metz, who runs 40 locations, said in mid-November that he would add a 5% surcharge to customers' bills and reduce his employees' hours. Denny’s perception with casual diners declined afterwards, but much less so than Papa John’s and Applebee’s. However unlike those two chains, Denny’s has since rebounded close to where they were before Metz’s remarks, potentially due to CEO John Miller’s apologetic statement a few days later.

You know personally I really don't want to know what the political opinions are of the  owners of the restaurant or businesses I visit, but if I know they are assholes, like these guys, I will avoid them like the plague. Which by the way is not very hard in this case because I don't like ANY of these three restaurants and have not eaten at one of them in over fifteen years.

What I think these idiots are learning the hard way is that people like President Obama. And just because their personal Fox News driven opinion is negative, they are in fact in the minority.

The downside of authoring aggressively anti-immigrant legislation in Arizona? No Mexican restaurant will serve your ass!

"I can't believe those wetbacks won't give me a damn chimichanga!"

Russell Pearce, the former state Senator known for his awkward testicle jokes and his authorship of the state’s anti-immigration law that codified higher levels of skin pigmentation as a form of suspicious behavior, was rejected by two Mexican restaurants in Phoenix upon trying to hold a fundraiser at each to help get himself back into office. That is correct: He wanted to stage an event, to collect money for himself, in a Mexican dining establishment. And yet it turned out not to be the most foolproof way of gloating. 

Pearce was thwarted by, yes, the Tequila Party, the humorous Arizona Latino voter response to the constipated sourpuss Tea Party. Tequila Party co-president DeeDee Garcia Blase got wind of Pearce’s fundraiser and planned a protest of the first Mexican restaurant where Pearce had planned his event. The restaurant quickly cancelled the booking. So he tried again at another Mexican restaurant. 

From the Arizona Capitol Times: 

Late this morning, Pearce’s campaign sent an email to supporters informing them that the fundraiser would instead be held at Oaxaca Restaurante y Cantina in downtown Phoenix. The email did not say why the location was changed. 

Within hours, Oaxaca also cancelled Pearce’s event. Joseph Aguayo, the restaurant’s manager, told Arizona Capitol Times he did so after Garcia Blase contacted him and told him the event, which was registered under a different name, was actually to help Pearce raise money in his bid to return to the Senate after being recalled last year. 

“We don’t need that,” Aguayo said. “We want to keep the support of our Latino community.”

I wish there were some way to gauge how Americans are feeling about House Speaker John Boehner.

I don't know, maybe a poll or something, ANYTHING that might let us know if his constant obstructionism is pissing off the average American or not.

A restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee refused to serve state Sen. Stacey Campfield, the man who sponsored the state’s “don’t say gay” bill, compared homosexuality to bestiality, and most recently told Michelangelo Signorile that it’s virtually impossible to spread HIV/AIDS through heterosexual sex. “I hope that Stacy Campfield now knows what if feels like to be unfairly discriminated against,” the Bistro at the Bijou wrote on its Facebook wall on Sunday. The restaurant has received an overwhelmingly positive response.

That is perfect! Good for this restaurant for standing up to discrimination.
