Anti-LGBTQ preacher suggests that USA Gymnastics doctor's sexual abuse of his patients was due to the immodesty of the sport.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

On his radio program today, extremist anti-LGBTQ pastor Kevin Swanson attributed USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse of more than 150 women and girls he treated, in part, to the fact that gymnastics encourages “a fair amount of immodesty.”

Citing a variety of supposed dangers, such as the use of open showers, Swanson warned Christian parents against allowing their children to participate in sports because “sports tend to focus on the body.”

“There is an infatuation with the body,” he said, “and, of course, the sexual aspects of the body as well. Some sports encourage immodesty, revealing large portions of the body and this happens in some sports. These are the risky sports. Here they are, what are the risky sports? Gymnastics. Gymnastics and swimming. These are the sports in which there is an added risk.”

“Why are all of the gymnasts [at] more of a risk than other sports?” Swanson asked. “Do you really want your daughters involved in a sport that involves a fair amount of immodesty in which red-blooded American male coaches are interacting with these girls? Or, worse yet, where the infatuation of the body eventually effects the lesbian coaches?”

Swanson went on to suggest that Nassar was brought to justice because, “God is not going to put up with 20 years of this.”

So what, five, ten, or fifteen years is perfectly acceptable, but not 20?

Is that where "God" draws the line?

First off the uniforms typically worn by female gymnasts are in no way the most revealing in the Olympics.

Some of the shorts worn by the female track and field competitors are barely even there, and don't get me started about the beach volleyball competitors.

But once again, so what?

The sports these athletes participate in require freedom of movement, and clothing that does not bind or interfere in their sport.

If a man finds that erotic in any way, that is entirely beside the point.

And it in NO WAY excuses a person from sexually assaulting or victimizing ANYONE.

I was a gymnastic coach for over four years, and ran a program that included young college age women working with children ages five to twelve.

I was literally surrounded by some of the most fit and attractive young women in the state.

And yet every one of my interactions with them was purely professional. And I was very careful to keep in that way.

I was well aware that I was in a position of authority, and conducted myself appropriately at all times.

Because THAT is what you do.

I also once worked, very briefly, as the bouncer at a strip club.

And even in that setting I did not objectify my coworkers or do anything to make them feel uneasy in my presence.

Because once again, THAT is what you do.

Besides this man was a doctor, so of course he saw these young women without any clothing at all, which renders this entire defense ridiculous.

Not to mention that some of Nassar's victims were children, so how does the "immodesty" of gymnastics excuse that?

No, being a man, unable to control his base impulses, cannot be excused by any claims of "immodesty" or blamed on the victims in any way.

Dr. Nassar is solely responsible for his actions, and he got what he deserved for them.

Now for some good news. God told Michele Bachmann NOT to run for the Senate.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Over the weekend, Bachmannn told End Times radio host Jan Markell that after much prayer, she has decided that God does not, in fact, want her to make a bid for this seat.

“I’m not going to run for that office,” she said. “I had a lot of people contacting me, wanting to give me money and be a part of my team to run for a campaign … But what I did is I did what I have done on every other time I thought about running: I took it to the Lord in a very quiet way, I took it before the Lord, I prayed, I tried to have my ears open and hear what God was saying to me.”

“I considered it for quite a long time,” Bachmann continued. “From the very first day when Al Franken had announced his resignation from the U.S. Senate, I went before the Lord and it became very clear to me that I wasn’t hearing any call from God to do this.”

“I’ve always prayed and tried to seek out what God’s will for me would be,” she added, “and each time before, I’ve had this inner sense that I’m supposed to do this, I’m supposed to run. It doesn’t mean a guarantee that I’ll win, all it means is that that’s what I sensed in my spirit, that God wanted me to run. I had absolutely no sense from the Lord at all that I was supposed to run this time.”

“I just had no sense from the Lord that this is something that I should do right now,” Bachmann said, “so I’m not going to do it.”

You know, that's almost enough to make you believe in a higher power.

Almost.

You may think that Donald Trump is not accomplishing much, but that is just because you do not know about the 3,000 "elite pedophiles" that he has had arrested.

Whoa Nelly! Now THAT'S some batshit crazy for you!

The guy's name is Mark Taylor, and he calls himself the "Firefigher Prophet." (And You KNOW sell described prophets are always to be trusted.)

Here is the breakdown courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

“Divine justice is being poured out right now,” Taylor said. “3,000 elite pedophiles have been arrested since the inauguration, but that’s not a whole lot of common knowledge, people don’t understand that because they’ve had a 100 percent media blackout on it.”

Taylor said that thousands of well-known, high-ranking figures have been arrested in recent months as part of Trump’s crackdown on satanic pedophile and child sacrifice cults, but we are not hearing anything about it because Trump is keeping it all under wraps.

“The Clintons are going to go down, Obama is going to go down, they’re all going to go down,” Taylor said. “Time is up for those who are corrupt … God is very serious when He says He is going to clean house. Everybody keeps asking, ‘When is it going to start, when is it going to start?’ It’s already started, it’s just they’re not saying anything. And the other thing you have to understand, with Trump being ten places ahead of everybody else, he’s not going to tip his hat as to what he’s doing.”

“You’re just going to wake up one morning and Hillary Clinton is going to be in jail,” he said, “[and] it will be a sign to the United States that that spirit called Jezebel has been locked up and the key thrown away.”

Now remember these are not just pedophiles, these are "elite" pedophiles, so you know this is big.

Damn, these Trump supporters are really in a class by themselves, aren't they?

Michele Bachmann warns that electing Hillary Clinton will lead to more sexual assaults against women, Because, you know, Bible.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann appeared on the American Pastors Network’s “Stand In The Gap” radio program yesterday, where she warned conservative Christians not to buy into the “lies” about Donald Trump because electing Hillary Clinton as president will only lead to more sexual assaults in America.

Trump may have made “crude” remarks, but that pales in comparison to what Bill Clinton has done, Bachmann argued, which was to “criminally assault women” and for which he has “never paid the price.”

The best thing that Christian men and women can do, Bachmann said, is to ensure that Hillary Clinton never becomes president because she “will set a standard in this country that will lead to even more sexual assaults against women because she will be setting an anti-biblical agenda.”

Rohrer agreed, saying that the effort to turn Christian women away from Trump is really a satanic effort to “divide Christian evangelical homes,” which prompted Bachmann to declare that “this is an effort by Hillary Clinton supporters and George Soros, through Sojourners and other so-called Christian organizations, to divide us. These are lies and we, as Christians, need to recognize that this is a lie and a deception and we need to wake up and resist these lies.”

Yeah people who believe the primitive superstitious nonsense in the Bible should be careful not to fall for any lies.

Boy I really miss ole Michele Bachmann. Now that she and Sarah Palin are only popping up occasionally I have to get the majority of my batshit crazy female bullshit from the Trump surrogates, like Kellyanne Conway, Katrina Pierson, and Scottie Nell Hughes.

I mean it's sometimes good and all, but it's just not quite the same.

According to End Times talk radio host Justice Antonin Scalia was ritually murdered by President Obama to mark a pagan festival. Say what?

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Yesterday on “Trunews,” End Times radio host Rick Wiles discussed “the possible occult connections” to the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, whom he concluded was murdered by President Obama and was a human sacrifice to mark the pagan festival of Lupercalia.

Wiles explained that the “Luciferian” “devil-worshipers” who control the government are out for blood, noting that Lupercalia is observed between February 13 and 15. Scalia’s body was discovered on the 13th. “There’s always human sacrifice involved,” he said, claiming that Scalia was “killed” to mark the beginning of pagan fascism ruling over the U.S.

“The 13th was the 44th day of 2016, Obama is the 44th president of the United States,” Wiles said, “so you have this numerology thing taking place.”

Wiles said that the assassins who killed the conservative justice “deliberately left the pillow on his face as a message to everybody else: ‘Don’t mess with us, we can murder a justice and get away with it.’ And I assure you, there’s a lot of frightened officials in Washington today, deep down they know, the regime murdered a justice…. This is the way a dictatorial, fascist, police state regime takes control of a nation.”

Okay usually I would mock this as batshit crazy talk, but I seriously do not think that a bat could shit this much crazy.

I would like to seriously ask how somebody like this is not only NOT in a rubber room someplace, but is allowed on the radio to spread this kind of lunacy?

Heidi Cruz claims that her husband's campaign will "show us the face of God." Well isn't that special?

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Sen. Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi, who has been campaigning for her husband full-time over the past several months, explained the role of faith in the Texas Republican’s presidential campaign yesterday, telling a South Carolina radio host that Cruz is running to “show this country the face of the God that we serve.”

“This Christian God that we serve is the foundation of our country” and people need to be reminded that “Christians are loving people, are nonjudgmental people, but there is right and wrong, we have a country of law and order, there are consequences to actions and we must all live peaceably in our own faiths under the Constitution.”

The face of God?

 Really?

Well gee I guess we now know the answer as to why Heidi Cruz married Ted.

She's nuts.

Mike Huckabee is pissy because the evangelicals are not backing him. Accuses them of not wanting to end abortion because it financially benefits their organizations.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Huckabee recently spoke with Fox News pundit Todd Starnes about his feelings toward the leaders of the Religious Right establishment who, he feels, abandoned him and he did not hold back as he accused them of not actually wanting to see an end to abortion or gay marriage because they raise too much money campaigning on those issues.

"As I've often said, 'I don't go to them, I come from them,' but because of that I do understand them. And a lot of them, quite frankly, I think they're scared to death that if a guy like me got elected, I would actually do what I said I would do, and that is I would focus on the personhood of every individual, we would abolish abortion based on the Fifth and 14th Amendment, we would ignore the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision. And you know what the result would be?

A lot of these organizations wouldn't have the ability to do urgent fundraising because if we slay the dragon, what dragon do they continue to fight? And so, for many of them, it could be a real detriment to their organization's abilities to gin up their supporters and raise the contributions, and I know that sounds cynical but, Todd, it is what it is."

You know Huckabee is really talking out of anger and disappointment here, but he's not wrong.

There are indeed a number of these anti-abortion groups who would have no reason to exist once abortion was made illegal.

However they also realize, as does Huckabee, that it is very unlikely that abortion is EVER going to be made completely illegal again, even IF he were elected.

Personally I never tire of watching these conservative idiots beating each other up.

Oath Keepers want to set up classes in high schools and colleges to teach students not to be sheep-like, to attack school shooters, and to refuse to submit to the government death camps. Wait, what?

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

The armed anti-government group Oath Keepers unveiled its strategy to prevent school shootings last week, announcing its intention to form college — and eventually high school — chapters, which the group will use to train students to “stop submitting and cooperating in their own murders” and resist the coming government “death camps.”

In an article on the group’s website, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and media director Jason Van Tatenhove wrote that the students killed in the recent shooting at a community college in Oregon died because they were “conditioned” to be “passive, submissive and ‘non-violent.’”

In an interview with Red List News, the two went into more detail, with Van Tatenhove warning that anti-bullying programs in schools, specifically, are “brainwashing children” into being “docile.”

“Whether it’s an active shooter that kills them, or later on a death camp somewhere down the road because they’ve been conditioned never to fight back,” he warned, “it only leads to death.”

Rhodes agreed: “The same submissive and servile, sheep-like mindset that children are being taught is exactly what they’re going to do politically, too, when it comes to their own government. They’re never going to stand up to it. So I think the conditioning is intentional to make them easily murdered by mass shooters, and I also think it’s intentional to make them servile and submissive before the powers that be who want a compliant, submissive population.”

Yes how very astute of these knuckle draggers.

Teaching children not to bully others is totally going to make it easier to round them up and bus them to government run death camps.

Curses! They saw right through the government's dastardly plan.

Personally I would not let these idiots anywhere near our schools, or our students. Anybody who believes all problems can be solved with more guns in the hands of more people, is a very poor example indeed for impressionable children.

However I will agree with them on one point, I also do not want our children brainwashed into being servile and sheep-like.

That's why I think they should be kept away from Fox News.

Doritos partners with "It Gets Better" campaign and the Right Wing loses their ever loving minds.

Nice right?

No not right.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

The announcement yesterday that Doritos will soon release rainbow-colored chips to support the It Gets Better Project, which works towards preventing anti-LGBT bullying, naturally drew the ire of conservative pundits like John Nolte of Breitbart, who said that Doritos is flying the “colors of anti-Christian hate and oppression.”

But Nolte’s protests pale in comparison to a column in the right-wing American Thinker by Ed Straker, which could be confused for parody.

Straker writes that the new chips are “the perfect gateway snack to introduce children to the joys of homosexuality,” lamenting that nowadays “it’s perceived to be cool to push a specific sexual orientation on children.”

Calling for a boycott of Doritos and all products from its parent company, Pepsi, Straker urges conservatives to “push other companies to launch pro-heterosexual campaigns” by, for example, persuading “a hot dog maker and a hot dog bun company to do a joint effort promoting man-woman relationships.”

At this point I am not even sure how the folks at The Onion even manage to do their job anymore?

I mean how do you parody a group that is already a parody of themselves?

You could quite literally report what they say word for word, and at the end simply ad "just kidding" and you would be seen as a comedic genius.

So the Jade Helm 15 exercises ended today. How is Obama's takeover of Texas going?

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

For most of the summer, a military training exercise called Jade Helm 15 captivated the imaginations of the Right, striking fear into the hearts of Republican presidential candidates, members of Congress and even governors. Latching on to a conspiracy theory that originated in the far-right fringes of the internet, they warned that the training exercise was in fact part of a plot by President Obama to invade Texas, impose martial law and abolish civil liberties.

At one point, one-third of Republican voters and half of all Tea Party supporters feared that the federal government was “trying to take over Texas,” with another 28 percent of GOP voters saying that they were not sure whether or not the plot existed.

Outlets such as WorldNetDaily and InfoWars, far-right sites that also regularly host Republican politicians, led the way in spreading the conspiracy theories. But the theories soon spread beyond the far-right, and suddenly people had to debate whether the government would use secret tunnels, closed Walmart stores and cattle cars as part of an increasingly fantastical plot to eviscerate American freedom.

Unsurprisingly, the people who were pushing conspiracy theories about the military training exercise fell silent when it became clear that none of the scenarios they predicted had materialized. Jade Helm 15 proceeded as planned over the summer officially ended today without a federal takeover of Texas.

Well that's a little unsatisfying.

After all there was  SO much hype about all of this.

The wing nuts created a Counter Jade Helm organization, Governor Abbott signed a law creating a Fort Knox just for Texans so that those dirty federal agents could not get their hands on their money, and some "patriots" were even plotting to kill US soldiers in response to paranoia about the establishment of martial law.

And all of that was for what? Nothing?

I mean didn't we at least take Ted Cruz and Governor Abbott as political prisoners?

No?

Gee one would almost think that these people were just incredibly paranoid and had panicked over nothing.

Nah!

Glenn Beck: "I'm embarrassed that I was once for Sarah Palin."

Courtesy of Real Clear Politics:

On the Thursday broadcast of his nationally-syndicated radio program, Glenn Beck trashed Sarah Palin for her joint appearance with Donald Trump at yesterday's anti-Iran deal protest on Capitol Hill.

"Yeah, I'm going to say it," Beck prepared his audience. "I don't care what Sarah Palin says any more. Sarah Palin has become a clown. I'm embarrassed that I was once for Sarah Palin. Honestly, I'm embarrassed.

"Why do I say that about Sarah Palin? How can you say that about Sarah Palin? Because I don't know who she is any more, I don't know what she stands for. I saw a clip of her talking to Donald Trump. What the hell is that? I don't even know who she is any more. I don't know what she cares for. I don't know. She doesn't know what I stand for. We had a falling out long ago because she listened to people who were lying to her about me. Fine. Don't care. I don't care," Beck said.

Oh yeah, that just happened.

Glenn Beck calling somebody else a clown. I think my irony meter just snapped off.

Actually Beck is a little late since almost all of the conservative pundits washed their hands of Palin after her Iowa speech back in January.

Oh you just KNOW that Palin is not going to let this go by without comment.

Popcorn time!

Lawyer for Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who refuses to issue marriage licenses to "teh" gays, claims that his client is being persecuted like the Nazis persecuted the Jews. Update!

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Yesterday, Davis’ attorney, Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel, appeared on “Crosstalk” to defend Davis, claiming that she is simply trying to do her job, or at least, her job as she sees it. He even likened her to a Jewish person living under Nazi rule.

When host Jim Schneider of VCY America asked why Davis won’t resign, he said that the county’s residents support her and “she’d probably be able to win the governor’s seat right now rather than just the clerk of Rowan County. She’s there to do a duty, a job and the job duty was changed.”

“Does that mean that if you’re Christian, don’t apply here; if you’re a Jew, you gotta get — what happened in Nazi Germany, what happened there first, they removed the Jews from government public employment, then they stopped patronizing them in their private businesses, then they continued to stigmatize them, then they were the ‘problems,’ then they killed them,” Staver said. “The fact of the matter is, she has a right to this employment and you don’t lose your constitutional liberties just because you are employed by the government.”

Yes being jailed for refusing to follow the law, while discriminating against gay people, is JUST like when the Nazis carted the Jewish people off to the gas chambers.

Why didn't I see that before?

Oh and there are plenty of people willing to take the "Christian persecution" metaphor and run with it.

Here is more from the fine folks over at Wonkette:

So glad that we can have a reasonable debate concerning the rule of law with these people.

Of course while all this is going on marriage licenses are being handed out to gay couples in Rowan County like Tic Tacs.

Update: I think this belongs here.

Media outlets cover SarahPAC's dwindling cash flow. But don't despair she still has one wealthy supporter, Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Slate:

This year SarahPAC has depleted much of its once prodigious cash reserve, spending about a quarter-million dollars more than it raised, according to new filings with the Federal Election Commission.

SarahPAC’s financial malaise coincides with Palin’s own star power dimming: Fox News in June declined to renew Palin’s contract as a commentator, and the Sarah Palin Channel, a subscription-based online TV feed Palin launched in 2014, is going dark this week.

While SarahPAC’s $562,000 cash-on-hand figure is better than what most political committees could boast, it’s the PAC’s lowest total since mid-2009, the year Palin founded the operation. Since late 2009, SarahPAC has almost always carried more than $1 million on its books and never less than $800,000.

So where did the money go you ask?

Some of the top recent SarahPAC expenditures have included:
  • $230,250 on consultants, including $80,500 to longtime aide and PAC treasurer Timothy Crawford
  • $139,932 on direct mail, produced by conservative fundraising firm HSP Direct
  • $128,482 on postage, printing, and related supplies
  • $82,213 on travel and accommodations, including airfare, hotels, car and SUV rentals, travel agents, and taxis. The Waldorf Astoria in New York City ($4,562) and Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas ($797) were two particularly pricy line items. The $3,854 SarahPAC paid a New York–based limousine company came on Feb. 19, right after Palin appeared at the staging of Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary special, where she sat in the audience next to musician Taylor Swift.
  • $48,000 on speech writing, mostly to Aries Petra Consulting, a small limited liability company registered in Virginia and based in Los Angeles
  • $37,354 on Internet fundraising through Austin, Texas–based Harris Media LLC, which works for numerous conservative politicians

Yet, during the first half of 2015, SarahPAC only spent $25,000 on candidate contributions—less than 4 percent of its overall expenditures.

At this point I would be very surprised if the press were shocked by the fact that Palin uses the PAC as her own personal ATM machine.

Courtesy of Public Integrity.
Palin is always looking for the press to pay attention to her, and now they are paying attention to her rapidly dwindling support and disappearing cash flow. So win-win right?

Speaking of winning, Palin has at least one ardent admirer left.

Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Yesterday, Donald Trump appeared on “The Palin Update,” a show dedicated to all things Palin. After Trump hailed Palin as a “tough and smart” leader who bravely stood up to “disgusting lies,” host Kevin Scholla asked the GOP presidential candidate, “If there is a Trump administration, could you see picking up the phone, giving the governor a call and picking her brain on some things, or perhaps having her along in some official capacity.”

“I’d love that,” Trump replied. “Because she really is somebody who knows what’s happening and she’s a special person, she’s really a special person and I think people know that.”

“Everybody loves her,” he added. Trump went on to say that unlike the former half-term Alaska governor, his current Republican rivals are “weak” and “ineffective” leaders “to a degree that’s actually almost hard to believe.”

Voters, Trump explained, “like the Sarah Palin kind of strength, you just don’t see very much of it anymore.”

Wow! Did Trump actually slam every one of his political opponents by suggesting that they were weaker and less effective than Sarah Palin? Ouch, that's going to leave a mark!

And who is this "everybody" that he claims love Palin? I live in Alaska, you know the place where she lives, and you would be hard pressed to find even one here.

But the really big question is who in the world thought it was in Trump's best interests to have him talking on "The Palin Update?" I cover Palin almost everyday, and even I did not even realize that was still a thing anymore.

North Carolina Congressman claims that his "primary mission as a member of Congress" is to spread "the Gospel of Christ." Uh, no it's not.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Last week, Rep. Robert Pittenger joined several of his fellow members of Congress, such as Trent Franks and Louie Gohmert, as well as Religious Right activists "Coach" Dave Daubenmire, E.W. Jackson, and others in speaking at a week-long revival meeting in Washington, D.C., called "Celebrate America," organized by televangelist and "Holy Laughter" preacher Rodney Howard-Browne.

Pittenger told the audience that his "primary mission" as a member of Congress is to spread the Gospel of Christ and that every issue of public policy is founded on the "reality of Christ."

"The most important message that needs to be heard in this city is the Gospel and love of Christ," Pittenger said, adding that people who hold different political views "just don't know my Savior."

"That's my primary mission as a member of Congress," the North Carolina Republican said. "Yes, to serve my constituents, to serve my region, and my state, and my country. But we're here as emissaries for Christ."

You know perhaps I missed a day or two during my high school government class, but I always thought that the primary purpose of a United States Congressman was to make laws, NOT to proselytize.

I totally must have slept through the lesson on members of Congress needing to preach the Gospel.

To be serious religious zealots like this guy have no place in our Congress or our Senate, and should actually be barred from ever running for office in this country in order to protect us from their irrational thought processes.

Time and time again, whether it be addressing climate change, educating our children, providing civil rights to the LGBT community, or promoting science, we see these religious nuts voting in ways that significantly effect our country in a negative manner and hold up our progress as a nation.

And that shit needs to stop!

Fox's Todd Starnes interviews Franklin Graham about Supreme Court decision on marriage equality so you know this will be ridiculous.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

While it is a sad day for America when the Supreme Court will "endorse sin," Graham vowed that "I will never recognize it in my heart" because "God gave us marriage and God does not change his mind."

Graham went on to warn Christians that "you had better be ready and you had better be prepared" because the wholesale persecution of Christianity will now be unleashed, as will, ultimately, God's judgment on this nation.

"I do believe that God's judgment will come on this nation," he said, noting that just as God brought judgment upon the nation of Israel in the Bible, so too will He bring judgment on America.

Of course Graham's assertion that marriage was given to us by his Christian god is absurd.

In fact marriage, both polygamist and monogamist, existed many of thousands of years before Christianity, and even Judaism.

Not only that but there are societies that do not even recognize a deity where marriage is just as important as it is to religious assholes like Graham.

Christians seem determined to take ownership of marriage, as if the marital unions of those from other religions or secularists were somehow illegitimate by comparison.

It is that kind of arrogance which is causing people to leave the Christian church in droves.

Mike Huckabee says that if he is elected President he will undermine any Supreme Court decision that favors gay marriage.

Hey, what did you really expect from me?
Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Yesterday, Mike Huckabee chatted with Iowa radio host Steve Deace and Religious Right organizer Bob Vander Plaats, who led Huckabee’s 2008 campaign in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, about the Supreme Court’s upcoming ruling on gay marriage.

He said that if elected president, he would simply ignore any Supreme Court decision in favor of marriage equality until Congress passed legislation legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide…which he would then veto.

“Until the Congress of the United States puts on my desk a bill that basically defies the laws of Nature and Nature’s God and defies the longstanding tradition of marriage, the federal government will not recognize same-sex marriage because there is no law that requires it and that would be true for the military and it would be true for all federal institutions,” Huckabee said. “If the Congress decides that they want to pass enabling legislation, they could put it on my desk and I would veto it, and they can attempt to override it. That’s the process.”

Seriously Huckabee, we have already decided not to vote for you.

You don't need to keep finding new ways to make yourself repugnant to us.

Pat Robertson wants you to know that demons are real and he would like you to stop treating them like "playthings."

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

We guess the newest craze among kids these days is the “Charlie Charlie Challenge,” basically a homemade Ouija board made out of pencils that will supposedly “summon a Mexican demon” to answer your pressing yes-or-no questions.

Pat Robertson’s “The 700 Club” ran an alarmed segment about this “new social media trend” today, citing “spiritual experts” who warn that there are “clear warnings” against such activities in the Bible.

Robertson was also not amused, warning that “like it or not, demons are real” and “they will possess and they will destroy” those who mess with them.

Wait did Robertson say that children used to practice levitation and things like that?

Okay seriously who are these kids?

After I read Stephen King's book "Carrie" I spent hours trying to knock a book off of my bookshelf. All I got was a bloody nose and a killer headache.

Demons. Next thing you know Robertson will be telling us that there is a magic man in the sky constantly watching us and using weather to murder us if we do something gay.

Wait.....

Duck Dynasty dude openly fantasizes about the rape and murder of an Atheist's family to apparently make a point about faith.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

“I’ll make a bet with you,” Robertson said. “Two guys break into an atheist’s home. He has a little atheist wife and two little atheist daughters. Two guys break into his home and tie him up in a chair and gag him. And then they take his two daughters in front of him and rape both of them and then shoot them and they take his wife and then decapitate her head off in front of him. And then they can look at him and say, ‘Isn’t it great that I don’t have to worry about being judged? Isn’t it great that there’s nothing wrong with this? There’s no right or wrong, now is it dude?’”

Robertson kept going: “Then you take a sharp knife and take his manhood and hold it in front of him and say, ‘Wouldn’t it be something if this [sic] was something wrong with this? But you’re the one who says there is no God, there’s no right, there’s no wrong, so we’re just having fun. We’re sick in the head, have a nice day.’”

Apparently this little fable was shared by Phil Robertson during a prayer breakfast in Vero Beach on Friday.

I guess the point is that if an Atheist were brutalized, and his family raped, tortured, and murdered, they would have to believe in God. Though it seems to me that this is the kind of thing that would shake the faith of a believer.

Which kind of makes me wonder what kind of person has these kinds of graphic fantasies about the murder and dismemberment of people they disagree with?

I disagree with the Palin family, but I have NEVER imagined anything this terrible happening to any of them. Never.

Here is the soundcloud for those having trouble believing that Phil Robertson actually said this out loud, at a prayer breakfast.

Right Wing pastor claims that Satan is behind the theory of Evolution. And here all this time all thought it was scientists.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Rick Wiles invited conservative pastor Laurence White onto “Trunews” yesterday to answer the question: “Is America repeating Germany’s path into Nazism?”

Unsurprisingly, the two agreed that America is moving in the direction of Nazi Germany, which they blamed in part on pastors who do not vocally denounce abortion rights, marriage equality and evolution, which White said is “not science but religion.”

White said questions posed to politicians like Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker about whether they believe in evolution come straight from Satan: “They’re trying to make conservative, Bible-believing candidates look foolish because the Devil is the Father of Lies and he’s good at it.”

Pastors, according to White, must “lead our people to be able to discern what is actually going on in this country, that collision of two religions: one pagan, one Christian. And until they recognize that, they’re not going to understand the nature of the spiritual warfare in which we are engaged.”

Here is the audio:

For the record Evolution is NOT a religion. It is science.

However these people cannot argue against science, because they don't understand it. So instead they attempt to bring the science down to their level, the level of blind superstitious faith, in order to fight against it more effectively

I should also add that it is not the people asking Scott Walker and others their thoughts on evolution that are making them look foolish. it is their inability to answer such a simple question that accomplishes that feat.

Fundamentalist radio show host claims that "there is no scientific evidence" to support Evolution, and that science has done nothing but disprove the theory. Oddly it seems nobody bothered to tell the scientists that.

Sandy Rios, moron.
Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

American Family Association governmental affairs director Sandy Rios is upset that media commentators like George Will are mocking Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for refusing to say this week whether he believes in evolution. After all, Rios explained on her radio show today, “science has done nothing but disprove the theory of evolution.”

“There is no scientific evidence” to substantiate evolution, she said, at least according to “the real experts.” So why has this stunning revelation that the foundational theory behind modern biology has been refuted not percolated through the scientific community? Well, Rios explained, that’s because evolution has become a sacred, religious tenant.

“Evolution has become the religion of the elite,” Rios said. “It’s a religion to the [level of] fanaticism of what they would say was the people at the Scopes monkey trial, the Christians waving their Bibles who were not really thinking through the facts, they were just outraged because it was against God’s law. The truth of the matter is that the evolutionists like George Will, waving their evolutionary theory, have become as rabid and unreasoned as what they accuse the Scopes monkey religionists of doing to Darwin during that time. It has become a religion. Science has disproven so much of evolution…. These guys are wrong, Scott Walker is right.”

Okay here's the thing...uh no. That is complete bullshit.

Here is an article from 2002 that takes on Creationists point by point and destroys their unscientific garabge.

Here are the ones that I think best address this lady's ridiculous claims:

Statement: Increasingly, scientists doubt the truth of evolution.

Response: No evidence suggests that evolution is losing adherents. Pick up any issue of a peer-reviewed biological journal, and you will find articles that support and extend evolutionary studies or that embrace evolution as a fundamental concept.

Conversely, serious scientific publications disputing evolution are all but nonexistent. In the mid-1990s George W. Gilchrist of the University of Washington surveyed thousands of journals in the primary literature, seeking articles on intelligent design or creation science. Among those hundreds of thousands of scientific reports, he found none. In the past two years, surveys done independently by Barbara Forrest of Southeastern Louisiana University and Lawrence M. Krauss of Case Western Reserve University have been similarly fruitless.

Creationists retort that a closed-minded scientific community rejects their evidence. Yet according to the editors of Nature, Science and other leading journals, few antievolution manuscripts are even submitted. Some antievolution authors have published papers in serious journals. Those papers, however, rarely attack evolution directly or advance creationist arguments; at best, they identify certain evolutionary problems as unsolved and difficult (which no one disputes). In short, creationists are not giving the scientific world good reason to take them seriously.

Statement: The disagreements among even evolutionary biologists show how little solid science supports evolution.

Response: Evolutionary biologists passionately debate diverse topics: how speciation happens, the rates of evolutionary change, the ancestral relationships of birds and dinosaurs, whether Neandertals were a species apart from modern humans, and much more. These disputes are like those found in all other branches of science. Acceptance of evolution as a factual occurrence and a guiding principle is nonetheless universal in biology.

Essentially the ONLY people who think that there is any real disagreement about Evolution in this day and age are people who have NO understanding of science, have never even read "Origin of Species," and who get all of their scientific information from a book written by primitive people thousands of years ago.
