This kind of garbage makes my head throb.

For the record I really love horror movies, and in fact really enjoyed this one.

However I enjoy them in the same way that I enjoy super hero movies, or sword and sorcery movies, or films about alien invasions.

I don't actually expect to see Superman flying above me, a dragon snatching up stray dogs in the neighborhood, or aliens blowing up the White House.

And I also do not expect to see ghosts, goblins, or werewolves.

To be clear there is no such thing as the paranormal, the supernatural, or miracles.

Each of these labels are used to explain phenomena which have fact based explanations, but which some are too ignorant or superstitious to accept.

Take the word "supernatural" for instance.

In ancient times when people believed that the sky above them was an ocean, mental illness was the result of demonic possession, and sickness could be cured with incantations and charms, the idea of the supernatural was somewhat understandable.

After all everything about the world around these people seemed filled with terror and unseen danger.

But the word "supernatural" has no real meaning, because nothing that can be seen, heard, felt, or tasted can actually be categorized as supernatural once it has been perceived by our natural senses.

In other words the only things which can remain in the realm of the supernatural are those things which we only imagine, and which have no substance in reality.

And yes that line of reasoning does take us in a very obvious direction.

But I will leave you to explore that on your own.

As for myself I will continue enjoying these movies confident in the knowledge that I need no sorceress, shaman, or priest to protect me from their influence. And neither do you.

Analysis shows that the vast majority of females on the Ashley Madison website for cheaters were probably fake.

An analysis of the user data on millions of people exposed by the massive hack of AshleyMadison.com has concluded that a vast majority of the accounts supposedly belonging to women were inactive and possibly fake. 

Despite its popularity among men, with 31 million male users (including some using official government email addresses), the site for people looking to have an affair had only 5.5 million registered female users. Now, an investigation into the user data by tech site Gizmodo reveals that even that small proportion of women was probably wildly inflated by the company. 

The names, email addresses and other personal information on the site's users was dumped online earlier this month after Ashley Madison executives refused to give into demands by a hacker group calling itself "Impact Team." 

Annalee Newitz of Gizmodo downloaded the data and looked at the trends of both male and female user accounts on the site and wrote an extensive analysis of the records. 

"When you look at the evidence, it's hard to deny that the overwhelming majority of men using Ashley Madison weren't having affairs," Newitz wrote. "They were paying for a fantasy."

You know I am a guy, and I know I'm supposed to stand up for my gender, but the fact is that sometimes we are incredibly stupid and gullible. 

You know when I first started seeing advertisements for this site I had my doubts that it could really be used to find anonymous sex.

However the main reason I was not a member is not necessarily because I am some super moral person, but rather because I am way too cheap to pay money for sex.

And I am way, way too cheap to pay for sex that never happens.

Look I know that men fantasize, as do women, and most of the time that is perfectly okay.

We all do it, don't lie. 

However when it takes money away from your family, and encourages you to look elsewhere for the kind of lovemaking that you partner may be secretly dying to provide, that is kind of inexcusable.

This Ashley Madison hack might just turn out to be a great thing in the long run. It will make men stop trusting websites to provide them with fantasy lovers, and it might convince some couples to communicate more honestly and find that the fantasy they have been looking for has been sleeping next to them all along.

Duck Dynasty dude openly fantasizes about the rape and murder of an Atheist's family to apparently make a point about faith.

“I’ll make a bet with you,” Robertson said. “Two guys break into an atheist’s home. He has a little atheist wife and two little atheist daughters. Two guys break into his home and tie him up in a chair and gag him. And then they take his two daughters in front of him and rape both of them and then shoot them and they take his wife and then decapitate her head off in front of him. And then they can look at him and say, ‘Isn’t it great that I don’t have to worry about being judged? Isn’t it great that there’s nothing wrong with this? There’s no right or wrong, now is it dude?’” 

Robertson kept going: “Then you take a sharp knife and take his manhood and hold it in front of him and say, ‘Wouldn’t it be something if this [sic] was something wrong with this? But you’re the one who says there is no God, there’s no right, there’s no wrong, so we’re just having fun. We’re sick in the head, have a nice day.’” 

Apparently this little fable was shared by Phil Robertson during a prayer breakfast in Vero Beach on Friday.

I guess the point is that if an Atheist were brutalized, and his family raped, tortured, and murdered, they would have to believe in God. Though it seems to me that this is the kind of thing that would shake the faith of a believer. 

Which kind of makes me wonder what kind of person has these kinds of graphic fantasies about the murder and dismemberment of people they disagree with?

I disagree with the Palin family, but I have NEVER imagined anything this terrible happening to any of them. Never.

Liam Neeson on terrorist attack in France: "There's too many f**king guns out there. Especially in America."

Liam Neeson might be brandishing a gun on posters for Taken 3 all around town, but in light of the recent Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, and ongoing protests against police brutality in America, the actor told tabloid! he’s still firmly in favour of gun control. 

“First off, my thoughts and prayers and my heart are with the deceased, and certainly with all of France, yesterday. I’ve got a lot of dear friends in Paris,” the 62-year-old said. 

“There’s too many [expletive] guns out there,” he continued. “Especially in America. I think the population is like, 320 million? There’s over 300 million guns. Privately owned, in America. I think it’s a [expletive] disgrace. Every week now we’re picking up a newspaper and seeing, ‘Yet another few kids have been killed in schools.’” 

Asked whether or not he thinks this issue extends to police responsibility, he said: “Let’s not get into it. Let’s put it this way: I think a light has been shone on the justice system in America, and it’s a justifiable light.”

It may seem a tad hypocritical for an actor who is most famous for killing people who take his kidnap his family members, however Neeson does not think that cinema is the problem:  

“A character like Bryan Mills going out with guns and taking revenge: it’s fantasy. It’s in the movies, you know? I think it can give people a great release from stresses in life and all the rest of it, you know what I mean? It doesn’t mean they’re all going to go out and go, ‘Yeah, let’s get a gun!’,” he added.

I actually agree with that.  After all one of the most popular movies of all time is the Lord of the Rings trilogy and yet you don't hear of too many cases of people killing each other with bows and  arrows.

I personally am a huge fan of action movies, and have watched literally hundred, yet I own no firearms and have never brandished one in anger.

People kill people with guns because guns are plentiful and because we are taught from infancy that they are a source of prestige and power in this country.

I have always seen that as a sign of weakness, not strength.
