Celebrating their 200th anniversary, famed debating society in England invites Sarah Palin, among other notables, to speak. Wait, that can't be right.

"Debate? Oh yeah I debate awesome! Debate is where I speak and nobody challenges me right?"

Celebrating its 200th anniversary, the Cambridge Union Society has released a sneak preview of the Lent Term 2015 termcard, with highlights including Stephen Fry and Sarah Palin. 

Reflecting on the varied fields of the revealed speakers, Amy Gregg, President of the Union for Lent 2015, commented: “I’m extremely pleased that we have begun our Bicentenary year with such a diverse range of prominent speakers. As ever, the Union strives to offer members the opportunity to engage with some of the world’s most significant and influential public figures.”

So let me get this straight.

This renowned  debating society is inviting the amazing Stephen Fry, an incredibly intelligent and humorous gentleman, AND Sarah Palin, a vapid, infamously unintelligent conservative nitwit?

Seriously?

I have to admit that at first I thought this must be yet another article from a humor magazine, but nope. It is legit.

Here is their description of Palin:

Controversial American politician Sarah Palin will then speak on the 2nd of March. The first female Republican to be nominated for the Vice Presidency, during the 2008 Presidential election, Palin has more recently spent time as a political commentator for Fox News, and has starred in ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’, her own reality show. Her book, ‘Going Rogue’, has sold over two million copies.

They are also inviting to speak, along with Fry and Palin,  FEMEN "sextremist" Innan Shevchenko. Who you all may remember as the Ukrainian activist who likes to protest topless.

 
Yep, Palin is going to fit in great.

This is what I found on their home page about the organization:

Founded in 1815, the Cambridge Union is the oldest continuously running debating society in the world, and the largest and most famous society at the University of Cambridge. In 2015, the Union will celebrate 200 years of free speech and the art of debating.

So they are a debating society that likes to invite controversial and eclectic guests to discuss their points of view in front of the students. The appearances also feature provocative questions from the audience which the speaker is assumed to possess the ability to respond to without preparation or relying on notes written on their palms.

In other words they are going to eat Sarah Palin alive.

Now Brand possesses quite a nimble mind and has little difficulty responding to questions off the cuff. Those are NOT the qualities that come to mind when one thinks of Sarah Palin.

Oh yeah, they are going to eat her alive.

Russell Brand goes after Judge Jeannine Pirro over her recent rant on Iran, and calls Fox News "more dangerous than ISIS."

Comedian Russell Brand on Tuesday blasted Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro for taking a position on bombing Iraq that he said was even “worse” than the militant group ISIS which has taken over a large portion of the country. 

In what BuzzFeed called “the craziest rant a Fox News host has ever done,” Pirro over the weekend lashed out at the president for not ordering sustained air strikes on Iraq. 

Brand took to his YouTube channel on Tuesday to dissect Pirro’s commentary, starting with the claim that ISIS was “coming for us.” 

“Hold on, they’re not,” Brand noted. “They not coming. Also, it’s interesting when she says, to them, we are the infidels. Meaning that she regards them as the infidels. Which means unclean, disconnected from God. Don’t try to counter religious extremism with religious extremism.” 

Pirro said that her solution to the recent violence Iraq was to “bomb them. Bomb them, keep bombing them, bomb them again, and again.” 

“F*cking hell!” Brand exclaimed. “When they do these bombings it creates more insurgents, that’s what creates them. Don’t think of a bomb as going down there and destroying stuff, think of it as like a seed that goes into the ground, and grows insurgents out of it. It creates more terrorism, doing it.” 

During her rant, Pirro had also labeled ISIS a “fanatical religious terrorist organization.” 

“So is Fox News — is a fanatical terrorist propagandist organization,” Brand observed. “This isn’t reasonable, is it? Like the way she’s talking? ‘Bomb them! Bomb them!’ She’s worse… She’s the savage, she’s totally espousing savage values.” 

“I don’t’ recommend it, but there are porn site available where you can let a woman abuse you,” he continued. “There on the camera, she’ll go like, ‘Look at you, look at your little d*ck. Think that I fulfill you? Oh yeah, what are you going to do with that thing? Wanna smell my ass? Wanna sniff my bum bum?’ They say stuff like that… This woman is like those people.”

You know my opinion of Russel Brand grows by the day.

I don't always agree with him, but I would absolutely love to sit down and discuss, or debate, any topic of his choice. I think that would be a blast, and quite entertaining.

Yesterday Russell Brand almost made Morning Joe watchable. Almost.

I love how he COMPLETELY takes over the set and makes Mika suddenly self conscious about everything she is doing. I am not a huge Mika fan, but I do like her more than Scarborough who I find insufferable.

"She grasping for the shaft, she's a shaft grasper."  Sweet!

It took me a little while to warm up to Brand but I have to admit that I am finding him more and more likeable every time I see him. And I am also pretty interested in this Messiah Complex tour of his.

It sounds a little provocative.

I LOVE provocative.

Russell Brand tries to play nice with members of the Westboro "God Hates Fags" Church.

It kind of took me awhile to warm up to Russell Brand (I found his voice a little annoying) but after I saw him in the movies "Get Him to the Greek" and "Arthur" I really started to appreciate him more.

However after seeing how genuinely kind and patient he is with these two UNBELIEVABLE assholes I now feel badly that it took me so long to appreciate him.

Do me a favor and tell me how long it took before you wanted to jump into the video and tell these two douchebags off. (I would have ripped them a new one the minute they walked out with this horribly insulting sign.)
