Jeff Sessions orders the State Department to examine the connection between Hillary Clinton and the Uranium One deal. Can you say distraction?

Seriously, this again?
Courtesy of NBC News:

On the orders of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Justice Department prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton, multiple law enforcement officials told NBC News.

The interviews with FBI agents are part of the Justice Department's effort to fulfill a promise an assistant attorney general made to Congress last month to examine whether a special counsel was warranted to look into what has become known as the Uranium One deal, a senior Justice Department official said.

Jesus, the Trump Administration and the Republicans are getting really desperate now.

First they suggest appointing a Special Counsel to investigate Hillary Clinton's connection to Fusion GPS to deflect from Mueller's Russia investigation, and now they are suggesting the need for one to investigate Hillary's connection to a 2010 uranium deal that she had nothing to do with personally.

Hell even Fox News deflated this conspiracy theory back in November.

This is just another taxpayer money wasting Benghazi investigation.

Clearly the point is not to discover any actual wrongdoing, but to distract attention away from the Mueller investigation which is freaking Donald Trump and his supporters out big time.

Eric Trump calls the Russia investigation a "sham" and then bitches that nobody is investigating Hillary Clinton over the Uranium One conspiracy theory.

During an interview that aired on Fox News on Sunday, host Maria Bartiromo noted that Donald Trump Jr. had become a target of the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

For his part, Eric Trump insisted that he had not been interviewed by Mueller.

“The Russia thing is a total sham!” he exclaimed. “It’s total nonsense. There is zero collusion with Russia.”

Eric Trump then quickly pivoted to the dubious Uranium One case against Clinton.

“To me, it’s such a travesty that that’s not being investigated because there is something there and it smells and it looks horrible,” he opined. “It’s horrible what happened and you see all the other bad facts. And you at least know the 33,000 emails and every thing else, the fact that they will look into nonsense, something that didn’t happen, and that they will go on tangents for weeks and weeks about nonsense emails [between the Trump campaign and Wikileaks] and other things, but they won’t look into hardcore facts.”

“It’s really a travesty,” he repeated. “It’s unfair to this nation.”

“As an American citizen,” Eric Trump said that he “hoped there would be” an investigation into Clinton.

Boy I know you did buddy.

That is why virtually every single person associated with the Trump campaign seemed to be trying to get Russia and Wikileaks to surrender those non-existent Hillary Clinton emails.

By the way does anybody remember when we thought that Maria Bartiromo was an actual journalist?

Recently she claimed, with a straight face, that there were no allegations against Donald Trump.

It's like these people have to put their integrity and journalistic ethics in a lock box before working for Fox News.

As for this Uranium One story that has already been debunked by essentially EVERYONE. But since Eric and his family only watch Fox News here is Shep Smith driving a stake through its heart for the kill.

Shep Smith completely destroys the Republican's, and his cable network's, Uranium One conspiracy theory.

But Smith, in his broadcast, made many of the same points as the fact-checkers. “Now, here’s the accusation,” he said.

Nine people involved in the deal made donations to the Clinton Foundation totaling more than $140 million. In exchange, Secretary of State [Hillary] Clinton approved the sale to the Russians, a quid pro quo. The [was] accusation first made by Peter Schweizer, the senior editor-at-large of the website Breitbart in his 2015 book “Clinton Cash.” The next year, candidate Donald Trump cited the accusation as an example of Clinton corruption.

He then played a video of Trump’s version of the “scandal” in which he claimed:

Hillary Clinton’s State Department approved the transfer of 20 percent of America’s uranium holdings to Russia. Well, nine investors in the deal funneled $145 million to the Clinton Foundation. Smith called the statement “inaccurate in a number of ways,” noting that “the Clinton State Department had no power to veto or approve that transaction.” Rather, it must be approved by an interagency committee of the government consisting of nine department heads, including the secretary of state.

Most of the Clinton Foundation donations in question, he pointed out, came from Frank Giustra, the founder of the uranium company in Canada. But Giustra,

Smith noted, “says he sold his stake in the company back in 2007,” three years before the uranium/Russia deal and “a year and a half before Hillary Clinton became secretary of state.” He added:

. . . The accusation is predicated on the charge that Secretary Clinton approved the sale. She did not. A committee of nine evaluated the sale, the president approved the sale, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and others had to offer permits, and none of the uranium was exported for use by the U.S. to Russia.

I have to admit that hearing actual facts spouted by somebody on Fox News still seems like an out of body experience.

However Shepherd Smith, who I cannot believe is still working there, has done just that on a number of occasions and seemingly in defiance of his network's official position on certain stories.

I think we can all agree that the REAL victim here is Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert who probably spent hours yelling at his congressional aides to hurry up and put this graphic together so he could "Get them Clintons!"
(I understand that if you drop acid it makes perfect sense.)
