Wyoming mayor takes down portraits of Donald Trump and Mike Pence and puts up photo of Native American chief instead.

Chief Washakie-Shoshone, NOT a Putin puppet.
Courtesy of HuffPo:

A Wyoming mayor’s decision to remove portraits of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence from the town hall and replace them with a picture of a Native American chief has some community members up in arms.

Mayor Pete Muldoon of Jackson, Wyoming, directed town staff members to make the swap on June 5, saying there is no requirement to have a picture of the president displayed in the building.

“When the Town Of Jackson decides to honor such a divisive person, it is taking sides against some of its residents,” Muldoon said in the statement. “The Town Council has made no such decision, and until and unless it does, that kind of honor will not be bestowed.”

Muldoon said he isn’t sure who hung the photographs of Trump and Pence in January, but that the town council, a non-partisan body, never authorized their display.

“We aren’t required to display signs of respect ― our respect is earned, not demanded,” Muldoon said. “Dictators like Joseph Stalin required their portraits to be displayed everywhere. Luckily, we do not live in a dictatorship.”

And this is in Wyoming?  Damn that's awesome!

Apparently the pictures of the current president of the united States has had a place on the wall of this town hall since the 1800's, but that was before we got stuck with this Russian operative.

Some of the residents are not happy with this decision, but I am willing to bet that they will be coming around at some point.

Dammit, after the upcoming nuclear holocaust the Republicans STILL win the national elections.

And people ask me why I choose to live way up here in the wilderness.

Because civilization is apparently trying to kill itself, that's why.

Sarah Palin gets mocked on Twitter for her denial that she was supposed to stump for Trump in Wyoming.

Betsy Klein is a CNN reporter, and her tweet attracted some twitter style commentary.

Though to be fair there were a few who took Palin's side.
Of course how could somebody with the Twitter handle "Palin Army" NOT take her side?

Hey look I'm ready to concede that perhaps Palin really did have plans for Saturday and was not supposed to be on the schedule.

But the fact remains that she went full retard on the media instead of laying the blame at the feet of the Trump campaign or the Wyoming Republican party where it would seem to belong.

And THAT is why she gets mocked.

Constantly.

Sarah Palin throws a Facebook tantrum over misreporting by the media. But was it misreporting?

Courtesy of the Mat-Su Megala-dummy's Facebook page:

Wow. Media Really Sux (You would think a "Journalism Major" would know how to spell this word.)

Twice in one day the lamestream media needs me to spank them ... makes you wonder - is the media

a) bored,
b) totally incompetent,
c) allergic to facts,
d) just digging their attempts to get away with zero accountability,
e) all of the above and then some.

No, despite reports, I didn't "drop out" of anything in Wyoming's GOP Primary today. I wasn't scheduled to be there, which can be verified by the Trump Campaign and our email exchanges from EIGHT DAYS AGO where it was agreed a trip to Wyoming wouldn't fit in with my prior obligations to work in DC and Nevada this weekend.

Too bad reporters don't bother to seek facts before spewing their bull. (Here's to you even, Fox News.) I've never had a PR team to correct the record for me, so within reason I try to keep up with constant misreporting... but it's impossible to do when I "have a life" and don't waste precious time perusing press clippings. So please, just continue to doubt anything and everything the media reports. They've created dangerous times for this nation when they're impossible to trust.

Today's media deserves the historically low scores it receives from Americans; it is a shame, but we can never consider them trustworthy.

Well somebody's crusty panties are certainly in a twist.

But here's the thing the reports of her dropping out were not the invention of the "bored, totally incompetent, allergic to facts" media. They directly came from the Wyoming Republican party:

According to a release on the Republican Party of Wyoming’s website, the Trump campaign said she would not be attending. It provided no explanation for the last-minute cancellation.

“The Donald Trump campaign has informed the Wyoming Republican Party that Sarah Palin, the scheduled surrogate speaker for the presidential candidate, will not be attending the State GOP Convention,” the release says. “Former Governor Palin was scheduled to speak to the convention delegates Saturday morning between 10-11am along with presidential candidate Ted Cruz and John Kasich surrogate Governor Butch Otter of Idaho.”

“The Trump campaign has not indicated whether another one of Trump’s surrogates will be in Casper this Saturday morning,” it continues.

Okay so if this was reported on the GOP website in Wyoming how does that make it the fault of the media for reporting about it?

It would seem to me that either the Republican party in Wyoming is bored, the Trump campaign is incompetent, or Sarah Palin herself is allergic to facts.

By the way this news broke two days ago, what took her so long to respond if in fact it was false?

Here is Sarah Palin threatening that if Donald Trump is not the GOP nominee the people will "rise up."

Courtesy of US News:

Palin, who has endorsed Trump, said she is confident he will win the GOP nomination, but said she can support Cruz if he emerges as the nominee.

She said she backs Trump because he is "so reasonable and so full of common sense and knows that for America to be great again we have to develop our natural resources" such as oil and natural gas.

While some GOP leaders worry that Trump's disparaging comments about women, minorities and others have him struggling in the polls with key voter blocs, Palin said Trump would be the GOP's strongest nominee. Trump has created the "big tent" that party leaders have long been seeking, she said, citing the billionaire businessman's appeal to independents and "blue dog Democrats" in the South and other rural areas.
Palin is not only calling for a revolt, she is attempting to make money off of a revolt.
It was essentially right after this interview that Palin abruptly changed plans (Or they were changed for her) to go to Wyoming and stump for Trump.

A position that apparently remains open.

Things that make you go "Hmm."

Sarah Palin suddenly cancels appearance in Wyoming to support Donald Trump.

Courtesy of Politico:

Sarah Palin will not be appearing as a surrogate for Donald Trump at the Wyoming Republican Party convention this weekend, the state's GOP announced on Thursday.

So what are our choices here?

Another Palin pregnancy?

Another Palin arrest?

Or did Donald Trump finally realize that he loses in every place that Palin shows up to support him?

Palin also gave an interview the other day in which she said this:

Palin said voters know better than to be fooled by party leaders.

"How dare they?" Palin asked, denouncing "arrogant political operatives who underestimate the wisdom of the people."

If party leaders try to intervene at the July convention, "we will rise up and say our vote does count, our activism does count," she said.

Palin said she is not convinced by pledges from party leaders that the GOP nominee will be chosen from among those running for president.

"There are some snakes in there," she said of party leaders. "I've had to deal with the political machinery my whole career."

Palin said she plans to attend the convention in Cleveland, but she conceded that she may have to "invite myself to the party."

"I can't see any of them inviting me," she said of party leaders. "I think they are afraid of what I would say."

Yeah I can see why Trump might not want her making appearances on his behalf.

Another win for Bernie Sanders in Wyoming yesterday, but does it really help?

Courtesy of USA Today:

Sen. Bernie Sanders won Wyoming’s Democratic caucus Saturday as he looks to narrow Hillary Clinton’s sizable lead in delegates needed to clinch the Democratic Party’s nomination.

A victory in the Cowboy State marks Sanders' eighth in the past nine contests before a critical showdown April 19 in New York. With only 14 delegates at stake, the results won’t mean much in the grand delegate scheme, and Sanders has performed well in similar Western, rural states like Nebraska. While Sanders won the popular vote at the Wyoming caucus 56% to Clinton's 44%, they each received seven delegates.

This makes the seventh victory in a row for Sanders.

However as USA Today pointed out he and Hillary split the delegates evenly, and in fact Hillary had already secured Wyoming's four super delegates, so in the end it only counts as a victory as far as momentum is concerned.

However if Sanders were to pull off a victory in New York, whose primary is scheduled for April 19th along with Connecticut and Delaware, that might prove more than a little unsettling for the Clinton camp.

Right now that appears unlikely, but even a close second could result in a serious loss of confidence for Hillary and her supporters.

Like a bad case of Herpes, the Cheney family never seems to go away forever.

"No I won't be devouring your children today, but meet my daughter."
Courtesy of Politico:

Liz Cheney is seeking a return to politics with a run for Wyoming’s lone House seat.

The elder daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney is ready to announce Monday, the Associated Press first reported Saturday. She filed paperwork with the FEC on Friday to make her candidacy official.

Liz Cheney ran unsuccessfully for a U.S. Senate seat in 2013, but failed to gain traction among Wyoming’s political establishment.

In her 2013 race Liz Cheney claimed that she dropped out because of "personal reasons." That is code for "I can't get elected."

I wonder what she thinks has changed this time?

You know in the movies the children of Darth Vader turned to doing good in order to make up for their father's evil ways.

Sadly it appears that real life is nothing like the movies.

Wyoming becomes first state to reject new science standards. The reason is not Evolution this time, it's Global Warming.

Courtesy of Star Tribune:

Wyoming is the first state to block a new set of national science standards, but a week after Gov. Matt Mead signed off on the change, education advocates are still digesting what the action means for the state.

Some say the provision, which came through a last-minute budget footnote, blocks the state from considering any part of the Next Generation Science Standards, a set of K-12 standards developed by national science education groups and representatives from 26 states. Others, including the provision's author, say it prevents the wholesale adoption of the standards as they are written.

And why do Wyoming lawmakers have a problem with the new science standards which were introduced to upgrade the old standards that were over fifteen years old and terribly outdated?

Religious objections to he teaching of evolution?

Concern over instruction about the Big Bang that some Fundamentalists consider an affront to their belief system?

Nope.

One of lawmakers' big concerns with the Next Generation Science Standards is an expectation that students will understand humans have significantly altered the Earth's biosphere. In other words, the standards say global warming is real.

That's a problem for some Wyoming lawmakers.

"[The standards] handle global warming as settled science," said Rep. Matt Teeters, a Republican from Lingle who was one of the footnote's authors. "There's all kind of social implications involved in that that I don't think would be good for Wyoming."

Teeters said teaching global warming as fact would wreck Wyoming's economy, as the state is the nation's largest energy exporter, and cause other unwanted political ramifications.

Micheli, the state board of education chairman, agreed.

"I don't accept, personally, that [climate change] is a fact," Micheli said. "[The standards are] very prejudiced in my opinion against fossil-fuel development."

To be clear this is a decision based solely on a fear that teaching that climate change is both real, and impacted by the actions of mankind, will have political repercussions and a short term financial impact.

One could perhaps understand the argument against evolution, based on fear that it will undermine religious  belief, but this one is based solely on the fact that the politicians fear that children learning about climate change will grow up to be too informed to support oil drilling and fossil fuel exploitation.

It is really rare to have an argument against science education be quite this transparent.

Liz Cheney drops out of Wyoming Senate. Cites family health concerns. Update!

Courtesy of Politico:

Liz Cheney is ending her campaign for Senate in Wyoming, the Republican announced in a statement early Monday morning.

Citing health concerns in her family, Cheney said the issues arising prompted her to end her GOP primary challenge to Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.).

“Serious health issues have recently arisen in our family, and under the circumstances, I have decided to discontinue my campaign. My children and their futures were the motivation for our campaign and their health and well-being will always be my overriding priority,” Cheney said in the statement.

Cheney pledged to keep working for her political values despite ending the campaign.

“Phil and I want to thank the thousands of people in Wyoming and all across the country who have supported my campaign. As a mother and a patriot, I know that the work of defending freedom and protecting liberty must continue for each generation. Though this campaign stops today, my commitment to keep fighting with you and your families for the fundamental values that have made this nation and Wyoming great will never stop.”

Late Sunday night, as news that Cheney was likely to drop out of the race swirled, two GOP sources said that a recent incident involving a member of Cheney’s immediate family prompted her to reconsider the race, among other factors.

Cheney announced a primary challenge to Enzi last July and raised more than $1 million for her campaign, largely from elite Republicans close to her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney. She has consistently trailed Enzi in public polls.

Yeah okay, "family health concerns," that's a tried and true excuse for dropping out of a losing campaign.

Well this is surely good news for Wyoming as Liz Cheney appears to be just as divisive and ruthless as her old man. I mean to throw you own sister under the bus for a few more wingnut votes is cold.

And this is good news for the country because if any political dynasty needs to be stamped out before it begins it is the Cheney's.

Update: Well it appears that the family health concern is that her daughter has been diagnosed with diabetes.

I don't want to be an ass, but there are plenty of people who live very productive lives with diabetes, including numerous members of the Senate and House. With today's modern treatments it is usually more of an inconvenience than a debilitating disease.

In other words my bullshit detector is going off like gangbusters.

Republicans still facing crowds hostile to Obamacare in town halls, but in many instances it is quite the opposite.

"Wait, now you're FOR Obamacare?"
Courtesy of Think Progress:

In Washington, D.C., Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) issues countless press releases boasting about his votes to repeal the Affordable Care Act, insisting that his constituents in North Carolina are clamoring for relief from the law. But during a town hall in Swannanoa on Wednesday, voters confronted the five-term Congressman with an entirely different sentiment: they demanded to know why Republicans would take away the law’s protections for people with pre-existing conditions without offering any credible other alternative for reforming the health care system. One grieving mother, who spoke to reporters before the event, said that her son was denied insurance because of a pre-existing health condition and eventually died of colon cancer.

These comments forced McHenry — who had repeatedly advocated for “full repeal” of Obamacare — to admit that he does support some of its most popular provisions:

[Skip] Edwards and his wife, both 63, had health insurance until he lost his job during the recession and the East Asheville couple found themselves in financial trouble despite staying relatively healthy.

Both had pre-existing conditions and were denied insurance, making them eligible for a state plan called Inclusive Health.

“It cost us $1,300 bucks a month — extremely expensive,” Edwards said. “It taps us out every month. But at our age and health, we’ve got to have it.”

McHenry, 37, has repeatedly voted against the Affordable Care Act, choosing to either defund, repeal or delay it. In defending his position, he said he did agree with some aspects of the act, including ending discrimination against pre-existing conditions and extending the age a children can stay on their parents’ health insurance. [...]

Edwards and others wondered why McHenry would vote against a plan they feel is better than nothing at all. He said he would not vote for something he feels is bad policy.

Some in the crowd had very personal, and painful, stories to share:
