Sarah Palin and Franklin Graham are all pissy that Target is not going to tell you which toys are for girls and which one are for boys.

Sarah Palin showing off her feminine side.
So last week Target announced that they were no longer going to give store aisles with bedding and toys gender specific labels in response to some criticism on social media.

For instance.

If you are the parent of a girl you also might have been offended by the fact that the girl's toy aisle is all pink and full of dolls and stuffed animals while the boy's toy aisle is full of awesome Lego sets, remote control trucks, and action figures.

I know I was.

Well apparently there are some people who are terrified that taking down signs pointing out where the boy's toys and girl's toys are located in Target will lead to a breakdown in society and rampant homosexuality.

And who would be so ignorant? Why Franklin Graham of course:

And as you know if Franklin Graham is going to get his righteous panties in a bunch over something, that means Sarah Palin totally has to throw her crusty panties in a wad right beside them.

Holy shitballs kids, sure God made the two genders with handy dandy "don't need no fucking science" hocus pocus, but there is no earthly WAY to tell them apart if Target does not label the bedding aisles now is there?

Thanks to Target the entire country will be filled with little boys falling asleep on Barbie bedsheets, and little girls having tea parties with GI Joe's and Ninja Turtle action figures.

And you know what that leads to don't you?

No seriously do you have any idea what that leads to, because I am at a loss.

Less misogyny maybe?

Boys playing with stuffed animals? (They already do, or haven't you seen Ted 2?)

Less frustration for kids not being allowed to shop in the cool toy aisle?

Am I getting warmer?

Look in all seriousness I worked with young kids for most of my life. Their sexuality is in no way tied to the kinds of toys they play with, or which color they prefer. (Plenty of little girls fucking hate pink, but fucking love little boys.)

Little boys playing with dolls, just means they are boys who play with dolls. And little girls who play with Matchbox cars are not necessarily destined to become grease monkeys who love the poonanny.

Personally I applaud Target for moving forward with the times. And they should remember that any decision they make which causes Franklin Graham and Sarah Palin to lose their shit, is undoubtedly the right decision.

After all, that's my criteria for decision making.

Monday the Boy Scouts officially decided to stop discriminating against gay scout leaders, however they allow church affiliated scout troops to continue hating "teh gays." Still not good enough for the Mormons though.

Another idiot who equates homosexuality with pedophilia. Not true.
Courtesy of The New York Times:

The Boy Scouts of America on Monday ended its ban on openly gay adult leaders.

But the new policy allows church-sponsored units to choose local unit leaders who share their precepts, even if that means restricting such positions to heterosexual men.

Well that is very good news indeed!

Now the Boys Scouts can finally join the21st Century and start treating people like people instead of focusing on their sexuality.

Wait, there's a catch isn't there?

Despite this compromise, the Mormon Church said it might leave the organization anyway. Its stance surprised many and raised questions about whether other conservative sponsors, including the Roman Catholic Church, might follow suit.

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is deeply troubled by today’s vote,” said a statement issued by the church moments after the Scouts announced the new policy. “When the leadership of the church resumes its regular schedule of meetings in August, the century-long association with scouting will need to be examined.”

Dammit! What is with the Mormons and their fear of  all things non-heterosexual?

Wait didn't they say earlier that they would go along with this decision?

Only two weeks ago, the Mormon Church hinted that it could remain in the fold so long as its units could pick their own leaders.

Gee, the Mormons lied, how unpredictable.

Well I guess we can look forward to another hundred or so Mormons making a mass exodus from the church in the near future.

One Colorado Republican lawmaker was so outraged by this change that he has suggested that gay scout leaders should be "drowned in the depths of the sea."

Seems a bit severe, don't you think?

Personally I think the Boy Scout charters should be restricted to secular sponsors and never be associated with any religious institutions. But hey that's just me.

"Be a man." Perhaps one of the hardest to follow directions we ever hear.

As I think most of you know I was raised by a single mother and did not have a father figure around for most of my formative years.

My male role models were Mannix, Little Joe Cartwright, and Captain James T. Kirk.

I learned that men did not show emotion, treated women like something temporary to be used and then cast aside, and that violence was the solution to just about everything.

On the other hand my mother's instruction was to not grow up to be like her most recent boyfriend who broke her heart or turned out to be an asshole.

That did not give me much to work with in the real world.

I did the best I could, but boy did I screw up a lot. Especially in high school.

However, after many missteps and wrong turns, I eventually grew up to be a more or less sensitive guy, who likes movies, working with kids, and talking about religion and politics.

I do not hurt women, I do not drink to excess, and I do not carry a gun (Or a phaser) to make myself feel masculine.

In the end my mom turned out to be my best role model simply by demonstrating that strong women should not threaten the egos of strong men, that raising children is not something that only woman can do well, and that our self worth should not be measured by what we have, but rather by what we give to others.

No way am I perfect, but I am far better than anybody ever thought I would turn out to be when I was a young boy. And today when I teach young boys what it is to be a man, there is no talk of competition or violence, but rather of responsibility and respect toward others.

Southern Baptist Convention calls for firing of Boy Scout leadership in response to lifting of gay youth ban.

Courtesy of MSNBC:

The Southern Baptist Convention on Wednesday called for the removal of some of the Boy Scouts’ leadership after the organization voted to allow gay youth to join, but did not ask its affiliated churches to pull their sponsorship of Scouting.

The convention approved the call in a resolution crafted by a committee at the group’s annual meeting in Houston. It comes three weeks after the Boy Scouts of America voted in an historic ballot to allow gay youth to join after the issue of LGBT membership had roiled the youth organization for years.

The resolution doesn't name specific Boy Scouts leaders, but noted it believed some in executive and board positions had tried to enact the membership change earlier this year without first getting input from “the full range of the Scouting family” and asked for the BSA to “remove” them.

Deron Smith, a spokesman for the BSA, responded by email, saying that the organization “has some of the finest volunteer leaders in the world. We are thankful for their tireless commitment to serving the youth of this nation and investing in its future.”

Allowing openly gay youth in Scouting, according to the Baptists resolution, "has the potential to complicate basic understandings of male friendships, needlessly politicize human sexuality, and heighten sexual tensions within the Boy Scouts."

Hang on a minute, I'm busy basking in the love of Christianity right now.

I'm sorry but every time I read one of these over the top responses to the acceptance of the LGBT community I cannot help but smell desperation and fear. They are terrified that the more groups they have spent thousands of years vilifying become accepted by society, with NO resulting negative affect, the smaller their influence becomes.

By the way since when did the Baptist's get the right to hire and fire over at the BSA?

Assholes!

Apparently Tim Tebow may not be the worst byproduct from the combining of sports and religious viewpoints.

Courtesy of New York Daily News:

Paige Sultzbach was set to play for an Arizona state high school baseball championship Thursday night with Mesa Preparatory Academy. But her opponents decided to forfeit their chance at glory.

Just because she's a girl.

Our Lady of Sorrows, a fundamentalist Catholic school in Phoenix, declined to play in the Arizona Charter Athletic Association state championship game because of the 15-year-old's presence at second base for Mesa Prep. The freshman sat out two regular-season meetings between the schools, both Mesa victories, out of respect for Our Lady of Sorrows' beliefs. But she had no intention of riding the pine with a state title on the line.

Sultzbach told the Arizona Republic that she felt put down by being asked to sit out those first two meetings.

"I felt like any passionate athletic person would feel (in that situation)," Sultzbach, who's also disappointed with the manner in which her team became a state champion, told the newspaper. "I don't want our very first high school baseball team to win the championship on a forfeit."

Our Lady of Sorrows is run by the Society of St. Pius X, a traditionalist church that distanced itself from the Roman Catholic Church in 1970 because of Vatican reforms. An Our Lady of Sorrows official told Fox News.com in a statement that the school had no other option but to forfeit the game because of its strict policy forbidding participation in co-ed athletics.

"Teaching our boys to treat ladies with deference, we choose not to place them in an athletic competition where proper boundaries can only be respected with difficulty," the statement read. "Our school aims to instill in our boys a profound respect for women and girls."

In other words, girls are only good for having babies and staying home to clean the house, NOT for beating the boys in sporting events.

I don't know who I feel sorrier for, Paige for missing out on a chance to win a legitimate state title, or these boys for being raised to believe that females are dangerous to their manhood and must be treated as delicate objects rather than as people like themselves.

Of course perhaps the REAL concern is that of girls who play sports of course MUST be gay, and they are simply afraid it is an airborne virus that their boys might catch while sharing the same field? I would not put such a ridiculous notion past them.
