Gannongate or is it safe to come out now?

I was just sitting here wondering why nobody from the Bush administrtion has, so far, gone on record with any real outrage or concern about this incredible story. I read the piece with Ari Fleischer saying that he had concerns, but nothing from anybody in the current lineup about what is an amazing security fuck up.

I mean the guy is a burly ex-marine who was engaged in criminal behavior. (What do you have to do to not get a White House press pass?) I certainly do not think that his sexual orientation should have any impact on his access, but the fact that he was selling his body on the internet should raise some serious concerns.

The only concluson that I can come to is that they are just waiting for it all to blow over. They are waiting for another big story to come along and take this off of the news programs and to take the heat (which has not yet been turned up sufficiently) off of them. But this time my friends they have made a fatal miscalculation. They have misjudged our commitment to seeing this story to its conclusion. There is obviously some organized effort to buy positive media coverage. And they do not care what type of journalist you are , or even whether you are a journalist or not. And it is obvious that they do not think that anybody can stop them either. If you read or saw any of the questions that Gannon posed in the White House Press room they were unbelievably partisan. There was no real attempt to hide the fact that the guy was trying to run interference against the main stream media. They do not think that we, and the American people, are smart enough to see through their manipulations of information.

What say we prove them wrong? How about if we show that we do care that our news is presented in a non-partisan manner. That we do care more about the truth then we do about having our point of views supported. And let's shame the mainstream media onto growing a set of balls and getting back into the game. I cannot believe that this is the same press that exposed Watergate and publicized Vietnam so that Americans could see what war was really like from a first hand perspective.

This is the time for Bloggers to begin to define ourselves and I hope that we take the initiative and not allow our detractors to define us, because that would be a damn shame.

Uncle Duke is dead!

This just blew me away! Hunter S.Thompson, who Trudeau used as his inspiration for Doonesbury's Uncle Duke character, died of an apparently self inflicted gunshot wound.

I would just like to go on record as saying that I am a huge fan of Doonesbury and have always enjoyed Uncle Dukes antics. But having said that I would also have to out myself as being somewhat less enthusiastic about Thompsons literary contributions. I struggled through "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", I saw the movie with Johnny Depp playing Thompson, and read one or two newspaper columns, but that was it. To me, and I am sure many people of my generation, his biggest contribution is inspiring Trudeau to create the Duke character.

But it is still a damn shame.

Okay now I feel the need to address these secret tapes made of President Bush by a friend of his back when he was fucking up Texas.

Who gives a shit?

There is nothing on these tapes which outs Bush as anything more then a child of privelege who tried all of the available excesses and then matured out of that faze. I actually find it admirable that he does not lie about it. He just avoids the question. That is the same tactic I use when my kids try to nail me down on my teen years.

Look, what Bush did in the past does not concern me. It is what he has done the last four years as president, and what he is doing in the next four years. That is what keeps me up at night. I don't care if he snorted barrels of cocaine and drank a river of booze. I worry that he thinks he is the messenger of God and is supposed to usher in the Rapture. Because if he does think that then it is high time that I start a serious mind numbing drug habit of my own. And now that Hunter is dead who am I going to find to supply me with that?

Don't you hate being right sometimes?

I had no doubt that Bush was lying about this. I have two eighteen year olds and a twenty two year old so I fear this with every fiber of my being.

Paying homage

A moment of clarification if I may.

My last entry seems to suggest that I place the fact that Howard dean is running the Democratic party in the same realm as the Rove demotion. Such is not the case. To be truthful I am not sure what to think about Dean being in charge of the DNC. I love his passion, his courage to stand by his convictins, and his ability to energize the grass roots. On the other hand he needs to not showboat so much and to not step into the spotlight of whichever candidate he is supporting. If he can do that then he may be just what this party needs to find its voice and to stop being the "also rans" in every election.

So I say, go get them Howard! And let's show those double talking hypocrites what we are the party who stand with the people and not on the people.

So how fucked up is my world today?

Well lets see. Karl Rove has been named Deputy Chief of Staff. (I did not know that the Chief of Staff got a deputy.) The Rapture Index stands at 153. (we are all going to die!) And Howard Dean is the new head of the DNC.

So my world is pretty fucked!

Alright calm down! Breathe. In pink, out blue. In pink, out blue. Okay. I am better now.

If the republicans are so religious then how come they haven't noticed that Karl Rove is the Satan? I mean isn't it obvious? What does he need to do, wear a t-shirt saying "I devour souls"? And if that is true, which it must be, then George is the Anti-Christ. It is just as plain as the nose on my face. He promises peace and delivers war. He hates nature and is determined to destroy it. All of his policy decisions reflect that. Seems obvious to me and I am not even religious.

If you have any doubt then go here http://www.anti-christ.com/ or here http://www.bushisantichrist.com/. Oh sure you may say that everybody is just overreacting to a guy that may only appear evil, but is realy just morally confused. I do believe that the same was said of a certain german boy named Adolph. What ever happened to that young lad?

I think we need to convince Joe Lieberman to get close enough to throw holy water on either Rove or Bush, or both. He is the only Democrat that they trust. If I am right then they will burst into flame and go screaming into the night. If I am wrong then Lieberman will no longer be used as their Democratic patsy. It is a win win situation. Just don't let Condi find out. That bitch is probably impervious to Gods perrier. She would drink it, gargle with it, and spit it back into Joe's face. And then it would undoubtedly burn him.

By the way did anybody see Pat Buchanon on Meet the Press? Am I just hallucinating or was he actually making sense? Is he breaking away from the pack? I am not sure I can live in a world where Pat Buchanon and I agree on anything. He needs to go back to insulting Liberals and being Joe Scarboroughs toady.

Holy Fuck!

Okay I am going to try hard not to panic here but this shit scares me stupid.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/013105F.shtml

I mean they cannot be fucking serious. Can they? How deep in the backwoods do you have to live to think that this is even a remote possibility.

To me this explains why the Bushies do not respond to the threat of Global warming, because they won't be here to get hurt by it. They really believe that God is going to take them to heaven and leave the rest of us to clean up the mess. Well all I have to say is it just cannot happen fast enough for me. Get these wingnuts off of my planet and maybe we can start making this world better for all the creatures who live here. And by the way if the Rapture is taking to long to get here then maybe you could just kill yourselves now and beat the rush. Morons!
