Donald Trump bragged in a speech to fundraisers about lying right to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's face.

Courtesy of WaPo:

President Trump boasted in a fundraising speech Wednesday that he made up information in a meeting with the leader of a top U.S. ally, saying he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbor to the north without knowing whether that was the case.

“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy, Justin. He said, ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’ ” Trump said, mimicking Trudeau, according to audio of the private event in Missouri obtained by The Washington Post. “Nice guy, good-looking guy, comes in — ‘Donald, we have no trade deficit.’ He’s very proud because everybody else, you know, we’re getting killed.

“ ... So, he’s proud. I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. ... I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong, Justin.’ He said, ‘Nope, we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well, in that case, I feel differently,’ I said, ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said, ‘Check, because I can’t believe it.’

‘Well, sir, you’re actually right. We have no deficit, but that doesn’t include energy and timber. … And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”

That last part is of course pure bullshit, we have a trade surplus with Canada, not a deficit.

First off Canada is an American ally, not enemy.

Secondly obviously Trudeau knew Trump was full of shit, so what was the point of lying?

And thirdly if this buttmunch cannot even handle diplomacy with our allies, how can we trust him to deal with North Korea?

Fourthly this idiot is still pushing this lie on Twitter.
You know I have no idea how much more damage Donald Trump is going to be able to inflict on America's image, but I know that we have not seen the bottom yet.

Justin Trudeau fights back tears as he apologizes to the indigenous people of Canada for their horrendous treatment they suffered at the hands of the government.

I was really touched by this video as it brings up our shame as Alaskans for how we treated our own indigenous people.

The white man's government, often using religion as a bludgeon, tore families apart and demanded that native children only call each other by the Biblical names given to them by Christian missionaries/educators and were punished for speaking their own language, or for being slow to adapt to western culture.

The destruction of the native people's sense of identity and connection to their culture was horrific, and is often cited as one of the main causes for suicide and alcoholism even among today's population.

This shame that Prime Minister Trudeau speaks of is shame that should be shared among the people of Alaska, as well as the people living in the Lower 48.

Our ancestors all participated in the destruction of the history and culture of the people that were here when we arrived, and we have yet to really make amends for what we did.

If there is any wish that unifies us all, this might be it.

Just imagine.

The guy is almost as cool as Barack Obama, without having that extra pigment which seemed to drive the racists nuts.

Young, liberal, good looking, and smart.

And what do we get?

Life's not fair.

Canada's Prime Minister under pressure as more and more immigrants from America stream across border seeking asylum.

Courtesy of The Guardian:

Justin Trudeau, Canada’s prime minister, is facing growing political pressure to address the steady stream of asylum seekers who have been braving freezing temperatures, fields of waist-deep snow and icy ditches to cross into Canada from the US by foot.

Recent months have seen a growing number of people entering Canada at remote, unguarded locations along the US border. Doing so allows the migrants – many of whom are desperate to flee Trump’s crackdown on immigration – to skirt a longstanding pact that bars most refugee claimants in the US from applying for asylum in Canada.

Advocates in Manitoba say they know of some 139 refugees – including children – who have made the perilous crossing since the start of the year, while groups in Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario also report a rise in irregular crossings.

Some haul suitcases for hours across frozen fields that straddle the border, while others are dropped by taxis metres away from the Quebec border. The asylum seekers – many of whom are from Somalia, Ghana and Djibouti – say their actions are driven by fears of what a Donald Trump presidency could mean for refugees in the US.

Amazing. In just four short weeks Donald Trump has changed America from a place that immigrants will travel vast distances to enter, to a place they will travel vast distances to escape.

Why do I get the feeling that this story will make him exceedingly pleased with himself?

Now confirmed that Sarah Palin will definitely NOT be the ambassador to Canada.

Courtesy of the Globe and Mail:

The White House has assured Canada that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will not be appointed as U.S. ambassador to Canada.

A Trudeau government official says that assurance was provided to Canadian officials during Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s visit to the White House on Monday.

“It isn’t Sarah Palin,” the official said.

American officials have not yet made a decision on an ambassador but were leaning to appointing someone who raised money for the Trump campaign.

I swear that it must be Sarah Palin who floats these rumors as an attempt to stay relevant since her Cheeto stained boyfriend unceremoniously dumped her in a gutter.

And then time after time when they don't pan out she just looks more and more pathetic.

Certainly had some of the Canadians a little worried though.

As one of the few people who actually had to suffer under Sarah Palin's leadership I cannot say that I blame our neighbors to the East.

However I have every confidence that WHOEVER Donald Trump inflicts upon Canada they will be able to handle just fine.

Just get a load of how easily their Prime Minister dealt with Trump's attempt to dominate their handshake.
Damn! Trudeau was not playing.

He looked like he was ready to body slam Trump if he tried any of his pussy grabbing tactics on him.

Here is how Trump typically uses handshakes to dominate others.

But fucking Trudeau was having none of it.

Smart man. Way too smart to ever allow Sarah Palin to take up residence in his country.

Leave it to the Canadians to show us how we should respect our President.

Watching all of Prime Minister Trudeau's remarks as he introduces the President is an inspiration, but I would advice that you have your tissues handy around the 7:18 mark.

"These are the kinds of stories that I will think of when I consider President Obama's time in office. History books will record the signature policies. But I will remember, what I hope we all will remember, are the lessons you taught us, not by executive order, but by example. That we are accountable....(Hold for extended applause) The lesson that we are accountable to each other. That we are stronger together than we are apart. That we are more alike than we are different. And that there is a place in this world for politics that is hopeful, hard working, ambitious, and kind. Mr. President in your last state of the union address you said of the American people that they are clear eyed, big hearted, undaunted by challenge, and optimistic. I can think of no better way to describe their leader."

Hearing that made me incredibly proud. Incredibly proud.

And the Prime Minister was clearly not the only Canadian who had such a high opinion of our President, just get a load of the response in that chamber after the President finished up his remarks.

Gonna need more tissue here.

Journalist attempts to stump Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with question about quantum computing. He answers it. Correctly.

This guy is smooth.

If you want to make yourself ill just compare him to the front runner in the GOP nomination.

Canada is a pretty lucky country.

Hopefully they will cherish their intelligent charismatic leader far more than Americans have done for the last seven and a half years.

President Obama meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is your palate cleanser of the day.

Courtesy of News:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has met US President Obama for the first state visit by a Canadian leader in 19 years.

The young, liberal leader was greeted on the South Lawn by Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, National Security Adviser Susan Rice and US Trade Representative Michael Froman on Thursday.

Trudeau, who has captured Americans’ attention in a way not seen since his father’s time as prime minister, was to meet with Obama and enjoy the honour of a state dinner, the first for a Canadian since 1997.

Accompanying the 44-year-old son of late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau on the trip to Washington was his wife, Sophie Gregoire.
Now see this is just the kind of thing we need to read before bedtime that makes us proud of our country, proud of our President, and hopeful for the future.
