Rush Limbaugh literally went on Fox News yesterday to say that the solution to school shootings in more guns in the schools.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Minutes after interviewing a group of Parkland, Florida, students organizing marches in response to the mass shooting at their school, “Fox News Sunday” put conservative pundit Rush Limbaugh on the air to dismiss their plans and condemn them for trying to advance a “political agenda.”

“Marches aren’t going to solve it,” Limbaugh told Chris Wallace, the program’s host, after a segment featuring student survivors of last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that claimed the lives of 17 of their classmates and school faculty members.

“Chris, the next shooter is out there. The next shooter probably has the gun that he’s going to use. … How is anything that we’re talking about going to stop that?” he asked of the planned demonstration.

Limbaugh then proposed guns be allowed in schools.

“The solution to me ― and I know this is going to cause all kinds of angst ― but the solution is we need concealed carry (of weapons) in the schools,” he said.

You know I would say that this is unbelievable, but of course it's not, it's exactly what you would expect from the Right Wing.

Well for a counterpoint I offer these statements from two of the students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
I wonder how much money Limbaugh receives from the NRA?

Another day, another school shooting. This time in New Mexico.

Courtesy of Time Magazine:

Students hid in their classrooms, some behind locked doors or in closets, as a gunman opened fire Thursday inside a New Mexico high school, killing two classmates before he ended up dead.

Authorities and other officials in the small town of Aztec near the Colorado border have released few details other than to say the shooter and two victims attended Aztec High School.

No other injuries were reported, and it was not clear if the shooter died by suicide or was killed by police.

Bryn Divine, a senior, said she was sitting at her desk in her history class when she heard gunshots erupt down the hall. At first, it sounded as if someone was swinging a metal baseball bat against the lockers.

Then she heard an announcer over the school intercom tell students: “This is not a drill.”

“I stayed in my desk, and I just prayed, ‘Please just let this be over as soon as possible.’ That was my first reaction,” she said.

I hate to break to this young woman, but this will never be over.

Never.

And just to drive that point home just the other day Congress passed a bill that would allow folks to carry concealed weapons across state lines.

After all this is America, where we are constantly told that access to more guns means less gun violence.

And so long as many of our fellow Americans believe that there will be a never ending stream of blood flowing from the victims of that mindset.

Michigan woman pulls out firearm during altercation over school supplies in Wal-Mart. But don't worry, she has a valid conceal carry permit.

Courtesy of Slate:

Back-to-school shopping can be stressful but shoppers at a Walmart in Michigan saw that stress take a violent turn after an argument over a notebook ended with a gun being drawn. It all happened on Monday afternoon as two pairs of women were shopping in the town of Novi, near Detroit. One of them reached for the last notebook on a shelf as did another woman. That invariably led to arguments about who was the rightful owner of that precious notebook and some pushing and shoving ensued. When two women, one aged 46 and the other 32, moved on to hair pulling, the mother of the 20-year-old who was involved in the altercation pulled out a loaded gun.

“She pulled out her firearm and tells them to stop attacking her daughter while pointing the gun at them,” Novi Police Detective Scott Baetens said. “It was a senseless act of violence all the way around.” Police are now working with prosecutors to try to determine whether the woman’s actions could be classified as self-defense. She had a valid concealed gun license.

Of course the woman who pulled the gun ended up with the notebook because that is how you get what you want in America these days. Apparently.

I can't believe that police are trying to determine whether this is an act of self defense or not.

The woman introduced deadly force into a hair pulling fight.

It should ALWAYS be against the law to threaten to end a person's life over a fucking back to school notebook. Period!

NRA holds first ever conceal carry fashion show. Man I wish I was joking!

Courtesy of The Cut:

The National Rifle Association held their much anticipated concealed-carry “fashion show” this weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as part of their first annual gun-lovers convention, “Carry Guard Expo.”

The three-day event featured appearances from outspoken figures like Dana Loesch, as well as workshops and seminars like “Basic Hemorrhage Control,” “Homestead Security Planning,” and “The Most Important Skills You WILL Need in a Gun Fight.” (Emphasis NRA.)

Over 30 vendors showcased various gun accessories geared toward the NRA patron always looking for a new way to hide her gun in her handbag.

The options included bra holsters, quick-draw tote bags, and even solutions for the professional woman — all modeled by girls-next-door, biker chicks, and men who look like they own a lot of guns.

This is disturbing on so many levels.

"I'm sorry do you have a holster that doesn't create an unsightly bulge yet still flatters my eyes in case I have to draw down on a handsy date or a rowdy bar patron?"

Seriously how did the Palins NOT get invited to this thing?

27 year old man becomes first totally blind person to get a conceal carry permit. That's right, "totally blind."

Courtesy of AmmoLand:

At 27, Carey McWilliams became the first totally blind person in the USA to acquire a concealed-carry permit.

Despite weapons training during his ROTC years, McWilliams has faced opposition to his right to bear arms from both the media and public officials.

Once fervently against hunting, McWilliams now views hunting as a way to connect to a system greater than himself and cope with PTSD brought on by a recent violent dog attack.

In his downtime, he carries a loaded pistol to the grocery store.

So great there is now a blind man walking around with a loaded weapon and an overwhelming fear of dogs.

I don't see how that can go wrong.

Ohio State conceal carry advocate shot dead. I'm just going to give up trying to fix my irony meter.

Courtesy of Slate:

An Ohio State concealed carry activist was shot to death at his residence near campus early Thursday, authorities say. Tarak Underiner, 20, was an Ohio State undergraduate and the treasurer of a group called Buckeyes for Concealed Carry. He testified in favor of a "campus carry" bill at a state legislative hearing on Dec. 1, 2016.

A local TV station is reporting that police found "illegal drugs and weapons" at Underiner's residence and that his death may be drug-related.

This is your brain on drugs.

This is your brain on drugs splattered all over the wall, because somebody was carrying a concealed weapon.

Any questions?

Ammosexuals now have their own dating website.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Gun lovers now have a dating website dedicated to them.

Concealed Carry Match allows its users to meet other members who have similar views on Second Amendment rights. The development is potentially controversial, considering the anti-gun rhetoric that has been doing the rounds following the spate of shootings in the United States in the recent past.

Working on a similar platform as other niche dating sites, Traverse City, Michigan-based ConcealedCarryMatch.com offers a paid membership, ranging from $10 weekly to $150 for a year. The site launched last month and reportedly registered opening-day traffic of 10,000 interested visitors, signaling at an increased intensification of the debate on gun control ahead of the presidential election in November.

Well I guess the good news is that the rest of us can now use other dating websites without worrying that we will be shot if we say no at the end of the night.

And what a great service for those women who do not want a man with anything impressive taking up residence in their jeans.

I wonder if these ammosexuals get intimate by rubbing the barrels of their Glocks together while watching Dirty Harry movies? Or if they wing each other and then rub the bullet wounds together until they pass out?

It would explain so much.

In response to the mass shooting in Orlando more LGBT folks are taking up arms.

Courtesy of The Guardian:

Weapons sales and membership in a group calling on gays and lesbians to arm themselves in self-defense against homophobic attacks have surged since the massacre at a gay nightclub in Florida last weekend.

The group, the Pink Pistols, announced last week a tripling in acknowledged members in the five days since a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 in an attack on Pulse in Orlando in the early hours of 12 June.

The Pink Pistols, a gun club predominantly for LGBT members and their supporters, promotes “legal, safe and responsible use of firearms for self defense of the sexual minority community” according to its website.

A senior Pink Pistols member said that if patrons had been armed at the Orlando nightclub they might have prevented the shooting or minimized loss of life.

Somewhere Wayne LaPierre is rubbing his hands together in glee.

Simply put, more guns, mean more bullets, which mean more death.

What's it like in Canada this time of year again?

Federal appeals court rules that conceal carry is not a constitutional right.

Courtesy of Business Insider:

Dealing a blow to gun supporters, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday that Americans do not have a constitutional right to carry concealed weapons in public.

In a dispute that could ultimately wind up before the Supreme Court, a divided 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said local law enforcement officials can place significant restrictions on who is allowed to carry concealed guns.

By a vote of 7-4, the court upheld a California law that says applicants must cite a "good cause" to obtain a concealed-carry permit. Typically, people who are being stalked or threatened, celebrities who fear for their safety, and those who routinely carry large amounts of cash or other valuables are granted permits.

"We hold that the Second Amendment does not preserve or protect a right of a member of the general public to carry concealed firearms in public," Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher wrote for the majority.

Of course right now if this goes to the Supreme Court there will be a split decision and this ruling will stand.

And once either President Obama, or President Hillary Clinton, appoint a judge to replace Scalia there is very little doubt they will side with this decision.

In other words it looks as if men with tiny penises walking around with guns tucked into their sweaty ass crack to prove how macho they are, may soon be a thing of the past.

Gee, won't that be a shame.

The Secret Service says no guns at the Republican convention, breaking ammosexual hearts everywhere.

Courtesy of The Hill:

The Secret Service says people attending the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this July will not be allowed to carry guns.

The statement comes in response to a petition that calls for allowing open carry of guns inside Quicken Loans Arena, the host venue.

The petition has amassed more than 43,000 signatures as of Monday morning.

Secret Service spokesman Robert Hoback said in a statement that “only authorized law enforcement personnel” working with the agency will be allowed to carry firearms inside protected areas.

“Individuals determined to be carrying firearms will not be allowed past a predetermined outer perimeter checkpoint, regardless of whether they possess a ticket to the event,” Hoback wrote in an email.

The Secret Service cited federal law that allows the agency to prevent firearms from being carried into venues with protectees present, even in open-carry states.

Well so much for any hopes of a shoot out at the GOP Corral.

I guess we will simply have to be entertained with the fistfights, hair pulling, and eye gouging.

Company develops guns that looks just like a smartphone. What could possibly go wrong?

Courtesy of Phys Org:

Americans will soon be able to buy a smartphone-shaped gun that can hold two bullets and easily slip into a pocket.

The Minnesota-based company Ideal Conceal says it will sell the new weapon from mid-2016.

"Ingeniously designed to resemble a smartphone, yet with one click of the safety it opens and is ready to fire," the company says on its website.

"Smartphones are everywhere, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today's environment," it adds. "In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight."

The gun is a double-barrelled .380 caliber folding pistol that will sell for $395, the company says.

At this point one has to wonder if these gun manufacturers are TRYING to kill our children.

It is bad enough that there are all of these guns lying around that look like guns, now we are going to have guns lying around that look like cell phones.

Not only that but exactly how do we keep these off of airplanes and out of places like schools, US Capitols, and other gun free zones?

I see no practical reason for this product to exist, and it clearly demonstrates a clear and present danger to the American people.

Number of Texans requesting a license to carry a gun more than doubles in three month period.

Courtesy of The Dallas Morning News:

Requests for licenses to carry guns more than doubled in a recent three-month period, prompting the Texas Department of Public Safety to boost staffing, adjust resources and warn gun owners about how to avoid potential delays.

The department said Thursday that it had received 136,000 requests for licenses in December, January and February. That’s a nearly 140 percent increase over the 57,000 applications submitted in the same three-month period the year before.

The spike follows the trend in recent years of more and more Texans acquiring a license to carry a handgun. Ten years ago there were just under 260,000 Texans with such a license; by the end of last month, there were more than 966,000 active gun license holders in the state.

So now there are almost a million Texans walking around with their metal penis extenders on their person?

You know I was never planning to go to Texas in the first place, but now I am not planning to go there even harder.

Oh here let me explain, "harder" is something that those of us who don't require guns to make us feel like men can become at will.

Police warn that there will be armed protesters at President Obama's town hall focusing on gun control. Yeah, I don't like this at all.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Students at George Mason University (GMU) have been notified that armed protesters may show up on campus ahead of President Obama’s town hall on gun control Thursday evening.

In an email sent to the student body, university police Chief Thomas Longo said authorities were expecting protests ahead of the event.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, we will likely see protesters on campus — some of whom may be carrying weapons,” Longo said in the email obtained by The Washington Free Beacon.

He reminded students that it is lawful to openly carry firearms in outdoor spaces on campus.

“Please be advised that it is lawful to carry firearms in Virginia, and this includes at public outdoor spaces on our campus,” he said.

“University police are aware of this and will have officers present to ensure that all protesters remain law-abiding and maintain the safety and well-being of Mason’s faculty, students and staff,” he continued.

Of course there will be no firearms allowed inside the building where the town hall is being held, and there will obviously be metal detectors and Secret Service there to protect the President, but this still still makes me incredibly nervous.

Let's face it these gun nuts are all kinds of unhinged, their rhetoric is almost unintelligible at this point, and it only takes one mistake for some 2nd Amendment nutjob to get inside and do something horrific to the man working night and day to keep us all safe.

Personally I would like to see a gun free zone around the President that extended for about a mile. And anyone caught with a gun would have their shiny metal penis extender taken away permanently and then would be locked up until the President was safely back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

American sheriffs are banding together with advice for citizens to arm themselves in preparation for terrorism. Well this is troubling.

Courtesy of CNN:

In Brevard County, Florida -- less than an hour's drive from Disney World -- Sheriff Wayne Ivey was one of the first to post a video on Facebook. In it, his message was clear: "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun."

Though he repeatedly cautioned against vigilante justice, Ivey made sure gun owners knew he wanted them to "proactively engage anyone who threatens harm through terrorism or mass killings."

Ivey is confident that responsible gun owners with concealed weapons permits will partner with them in stopping an active shooter before police arrive on the scene, he told CNN.

"We want you to be prepared to defend yourself, to protect you and your family," he said.

As it turns out Sheriff Ivey is not alone in promoting the "good guy with a gun" propaganda.

Ivey's video has been viewed by more than 4 million people -- among them, Marion County Sheriff Chris Blair, whose jurisdiction is about 100 miles northwest of Ivey's. He, too, decided to post an online video with a similar message: "If you are certified to carry a gun, I would like to encourage you to do so."

In Arizona, the controversial top cop of Maricopa County, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, was even more direct.

"My goal of utilizing 250,000 citizens with concealed weapons is to stop the carnage, stop the killing before cops arrive," he said. (Well of course Arpiaio was for this idea. He's a crazy person.)

Two sheriffs from neighboring counties in New York, not far from the Big Apple, echoed those sentiments with statements posted on social media.

"The police cannot be everywhere. The Second Amendment and the laws of New York state give citizens the tools to defend themselves and their families from harm until law enforcement can arrive on the scene," wrote one of the sheriffs, Michael Schiff of Sullivan County.

Yes more guns in the community, what a great idea for reducing gun deaths.

As we saw from that Daily Show segment with Jordan Klepper just having a gun on your person does not make you Dirty Harry.

You know I would like to know how much the NRA donates to the campaigns for these sheriffs.

Because something about all of this seems suspicious.

President of Liberty University urges students to get their conceal carry permits so that they can "end those Muslims before they walk in and kill us."

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Falwell criticized President Obama for urging gun control in the wake of recent shootings, and made it clear he was armed during his speech at a convocation Friday night.

“It just blows my mind when I see the President of the United States say that the answer to [San Bernardino] is more gun control,” Falwell said. “If some of those people in that community center had had what I’ve got in my back pocket right now…”

He encouraged people to carry guns so they could ” end those Muslims before they walk in and kill us,” Falwell said.

He then said the university offers a free course to help get a concealed carry permit.

“I just wanted to take this opportunity to encourage all of you to get your permit. We offer a free course. Let’s teach them a lesson if they ever show up here,” he said.

Wow! And here I thought Jerry Falwell Sr. was a dangerous son-of-a-bitch.

His son is even worse!

I'm assuming that this only applies to Muslim terrorists and that Christian terrorists will simply get a stern talking to, or since this IS Liberty University a ticker tape parade?

After consulting with attorneys Houston Zoo reinstalls signs prohibiting handguns.

Courtesy of Chron:

A "weapons prohibited" sign has been reinstalled at the Houston Zoo months after being removed at threat of legal action. The Houston Zoo has reinstalled a series of signs that prohibit the carry of firearms into the gates of the family-friendly attraction almost three months after being forced to take them down at threat of legal action.

Attorney Edwin Walker with Texas Law Shield, a legal services firm for gun owners, sent a demand letter to the Houston Zoo and its corporate entity and the city's parks and recreation department on Sept. 3 asking that they take down all 30.06 (guns prohibited) signs at the zoo.

The signs came down just a week or so after the letter was received and read.

After discussing the matter with their attorneys this is what the attonrye's had to say:

In a statement sent to the Houston Chronicle on Tuesday, Houston Zoo spokesperson Jackie Wallace stated the zoo’s case for bringing the signs back.

“After consultation with legal counsel, the Houston Zoo, Inc. has concluded that Texas government code does not prohibit HZI from lawfully posting signs that ban weapons from its premises because HZI is – at its core – an educational institution,” Wallace wrote Tuesday.

The zoo argues that being an educational institution exempts it from being forced to allow firearms within its gates.

Wallace wrote that the zoo was established for educational and conservation purposes, bringing in some 200,000 children a year.

The zoo, Wallace added, “maintains an Education Department that employs 17 professional educators who develop and deliver educational programming on a daily basis at the Zoo.”

“Given the mission of the zoo and the presence of hundreds of thousands of children on its campus, it is clear that guns and zoos simply do not mix,” Wallace wrote.

Isn't it bizarre that such a statement as "guns and zoos simply do not mix" has to be made in this day and age?

Seriously, what is going on in this country?

New research sticks a pin in the conceal carry fantasy embraced by so many Ammosexuals.

Courtesy of the New York Times:

The more that sensational gun violence afflicts the nation, the more that the myth of the vigilant citizen packing a legally permitted concealed weapon, fully prepared to stop the next mass shooter in his tracks, is promoted.

This foolhardy notion of quick-draw resistance, however, is dramatically contradicted by a research project showing that, since 2007, at least 763 people have been killed in 579 shootings that did not involve self-defense. Tellingly, the vast majority of these concealed-carry, licensed shooters killed themselves or others rather than taking down a perpetrator.

The death toll includes 29 mass killings of three or more people by concealed carry shooters who took 139 lives; 17 police officers shot to death, and — in the ultimate contradiction of concealed carry as a personal safety factor — 223 suicides. Compared with the 579 non-self-defense, concealed-carry shootings, there were only 21 cases in which self-defense was determined to be a factor.

Clearly, concealed carry does not transform ordinary citizens into superheroes. Rather, it compounds the risks to innocent lives, particularly as state legislatures, bowing to the gun lobby, invite more citizens to venture out naïvely with firearms in more and more public places, including restaurants, churches and schools.

Of course this conceal carry mythology is also supported by the entertainment industry which features celebrities like Tom Cruise,  Keanu Reeves, and Jason Stratham producing and firing their weapons with lightning speed and unerring accuracy.

In reality even supposedly well trained law enforcement professionals often cannot unholster their weapons fast enough to protect themselves or to fire it accurately once in their hands.

You can see a little of what I am talking about by watching this video of martial artist Dan Insanto attacking actual police officers in training against knife attacks.

Another problem with the conceal carry folks is the false sense of invulnerability that they often assume while armed. In truth they are still incredibly vulnerable to attack, perhaps in some cases even more so, with the added bonus of being able to fire bullets into the air and endangering all of those in their immediate vicinity.

No, as virtually ALL research demonstrates the best way to protect ourselves against being shot, is to restrict access to guns and to limit the number of firearms in our communities.

I know that goes against virtually everything we are taught about our shoot first ask questions later  American mythology, but that does not make it any less of a fact.

Guy gets brand new conceal carry permit, immediately shoots himself. Well I feel safer.

"Hold it right there or I'll shoot myself in the leg. I mean it!"
Courtesy of KWCH:

It happened inside a movie theatre at Central Mall during a showing Friday night.

Police say the shooting was accidental.

Witnesses it happened 45 minutes into the movie.

"At first what popped into my mind was that someone popped a bag of candy or something and goofing off or something," said Heather Myers, who was inside the theatre when the shooting happened.

Then seconds later, a man sitting three rows behind Heather and her husband Domenic, yells out for help.

"This guy started shouting 'Oh my God, I just shot myself! I just got my concealed and carry,' and then everybody jumped up and that's when we heard call 9-11.

According to Salina police, the man accidentally shot himself once in the leg.

You know this is really the only way these conceal carry idiots are going to keep us safe. By shooting themselves instead of an innocent bystander or family member.

California passes automatic voter registration. You're eighteen years old, you have a driver's license, and are not a Kardashian, congratulations you are a registered voter. (Okay I made up that Kardashian part, but I think we can all agree it's a good idea.)

California Governor Jerry Brown.
Courtesy of Yahoo News:

Gov. Jerry Brown has approved legislation to make California the second state in the nation to begin automatically registering eligible voters when they obtain or renew their driver's licenses.

AB1461 by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, aims to boost California's voter rolls by registering visitors to the Department of Motor Vehicles and was among dozens of bills that Brown announced Saturday he had signed.

It follows Oregon's move earlier this year to adopt the nation's first automatic voter registration law.

The legislation backed by Democratic Secretary of State Alex Padilla calls for data collected by the DMV to be provided to the secretary of state's office, which would verify a resident's legal eligibility to vote before registering them. Drivers would have the option to opt out or cancel their voter registration at any time.

Padilla praised the signing of the automatic registration bill.

"Citizens should not be required to opt-in to their fundamental right to vote," he said in a statement. "We do not have to opt-in to other rights, such as free speech or due process. The right to vote should be no different."

You know that makes so much sense that it pisses me off that this is not the law in EVERY state.

In fact I would like to see it expanded so that you get per-registered on the day you are born, and on the day you turn eighteen you receive your voter ID in the mail.

And if THAT makes you respect California just a little more get a load of this courtesy of The Sacramento Bee:

Gov. Jerry Brown on Saturday signed legislation to ban the concealed carry of handguns at colleges and schools, further tightening California firearms restrictions that are already among the strictest in the nation.

Current California law makes it illegal to possess a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school or on a college campus without permission from administrators, but it exempts those with concealed carry permits.

Senate Bill 707, by Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, expands the prohibition on school and college grounds to include concealed weapons, while keeping the same rules in place for the 1,000-foot zone surrounding schools. Active and retire law enforcement officers are not covered by the law.

I swear sometimes California does something that really sets it apart from the rest of the country in a good way.

If they were not always on the brink of bankruptcy, constantly on fire, and home to some of the most vacuous people on the planet, it might even be nice place to live.

Woman with conceal carry permit opens fire on shoplifter in Home Depot parking lot. Well I certainly feel safer.

Courtesy of Detroit Free Press:

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a concealed pistol license (CPL) holder was not being threatened by a fleeing shoplifter when she decided to fire multiple shots at him in a Home Depot parking lot.

And experts interviewed Wednesday doubted the shooting could have been justified.

The shooting happened in the store’s parking lot at around 2 p.m. Tuesday, when Home Depot’s store security was chasing a shoplifter who jumped into a waiting dark SUV driven by another suspect, said Lt. Jill McDonnell, an Auburn Hills police spokeswoman.

But when the SUV began to pull away, the CPL holder, a 48-year-old woman from Clarkston, suddenly began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle. The vehicle escaped, though one of the bullets may have flattened a back tire, McDonnell said. Police are still seeking to identify the suspects, who made off with more than $1,000 in merchandise.

The shooter remained on the scene, cooperated with police, and was released pending an investigation. But gun safety experts say the shooting details that have been released so far don’t look great for the shooter.

I think somebody needs to go back for a refresher course in when not to fucking start firing your gun around  shoppers in the Home Depot parking lot.

To recap, a shoplifter took some things without firing a single shot to endanger others, and in response a conceal carry lunatic filled the air with lead to enforce justice and promote freedom.

Gotta love that 2nd Amendment.
