Women’s health clinics from Iowa to Kenya have been forced to close their doors. International nonprofits have lost the ability to provide birth control, HIV testing and fistula surgeries in the poorest communities around the world. Half a million U.S. teenagers no longer have access to sex education programs.
In a single year, President Donald Trump has already decimated reproductive rights and access to family planning in the U.S. and around the globe. He reinstated and massively expanded the Global Gag Rule, restricting $8.8 billion in U.S. foreign aid funding for international health programs that provide or even mention abortion. He defunded the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a global maternal health organization that provides contraception and pregnancy care to low-income women in 150 countries. The group had relied on U.S. money to help to prevent 295,000 unsafe abortions ― a leading cause (13 percent) of maternal deaths around the world.
International health workers are already seeing the effects of Trump’s policies on women and girls.
“Girls aren’t able to get contraception, and they’re starting to come back pregnant, suicidal, bereft,” said Lisa Shannon, a global women’s rights advocate who works with reproductive health clinics in East Africa. “They’re desperate, and they’ll do whatever it takes. The only difference here is that the women will die from unsafe abortions.”
Donald Trump loves women when they look like Stormy Daniels, dress pretty for him, or constantly kiss is tangerine colored ass, but when it comes to supporting polices that help them, Trump simply does not give two shits.
Trump follows the GOP talking points and labels himself "pro-life," but in reality, living breathing people, who are not unborn fetuses, are already dying unnecessarily on his watch, and he has no intention of doing anything to protect them.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

President Obama demonstrates that Republicans are becoming a punchline even outside of America.
Courtesy of Politicususa:
Part of what makes this a special evening for me is the presence of my family members who are here. My grandmother, Mama Sarah, who told me I had to come back to Kenya. And when she says you should do something, generally you have to do it. I’ve told this story before — the first time that I visited Kogelo, Auma and I and my brothers were there. Mama Sarah speaks Swahili and Luo, and I speak neither –and so Auma was serving as a translator. And I think about a half a day had passed before suddenly she turns to Auma and says something. And Auma starts laughing, and I say, what did she say? She says, he goes to Harvard; if he’s so smart, how come he can’t talk to his grandmother? Which was a good point.
My siblings are here, aunts, uncles. And so, tonight, I welcome all of them to a somewhat unusual Obama family reunion. I suspect that some of my critics back home are suggesting that I’m back here to look for my birth certificate. That is not the case.
Did you hear that laughter in response to that joke?
If your claim that President Obama was born in Kenya, is even uproariously funny to Kenyans, I think that is all you have to know about its validity.
And somewhat (But not really.) off topic, is Donald Trump still leading in the polls for the Republican nomination?

President Obama speaks out against anti-gay policies in Kenya.
![]() |
Courtesy of the Obama Diary. |
President Barack Obama on Saturday lectured Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta about his country's gay rights record.
"When you start treating people differently not because of any harm they are doing to anybody, but because they are different, that's the path whereby freedoms begin to erode," Obama said at a joint press conference with the Kenyan leader in Nairobi. "And bad things happen."
Under Kenyan law, sexual activity between men is illegal and punishable with a maximum imprisonment of 14 years. Many Kenyan leaders had encouraged Obama not to discuss gay rights on his first trip to the country as President.
But Obama equated legalized discrimination of gays to legalized racism in America.
"And when a government gets in a habit of people treating people differently, those habits can spread," Obama continued. "As an African-American, I am painfully aware of what happens when people are treated differently under the law."
The president of Kenya did not exactly welcome these remarks, saying in effect "It is very difficult for us to be able to impose on people that which they themselves do not accept."
However the fact is that President Obama undoubtedly feels a great deal of responsibility for the anti-LGBT sentiment in the continent since much of it is due to American evangelicals coming over and spreading their hatred among the people of Africa.
The President also visited with some of his family members while in Kenya which will quite likely start a whole new round of "Obama was born in Africa" conspiracy talk among conservatives.
By the way here is President Obama doing a little dancing in Nairobi.

Sarah Palin outraged that Al-Shabaab, a militant Islamic terrorist group is targeting Christians. Christians I say!
![]() |
Click gargoyle to play video |
Just listen to her verbal vomit:
"Wow, are massacres of Christians now so routine that, shoot, they can barely break into the news cycle? Seems that way. In Kenya, a jihadist group every bit as radical as ISIS stormed into a college, they separated the Christians from the Muslim students, and they didn’t stop shooting Christians until more than 140 Christians lay dead. Oh God bless those Christian students, their families, their loved ones. Those Christian students who refused to deny Christ up to the very end. (Heavy sigh.) Christians are being targeted for murder in our long war against radical Islam. But the Obama administration still isn't serious. They're not serious about Jihad. Still engages with as little force and as many limits as possible. It's even trying to tie the hands of our next President. See some of the problems are our allies don't have enough resources. Our soldiers, they're not allowed to fight to win. And the Obama administration, it’s focusing its energy on things like appeasing Iran while alienating Israel. Our priorities are exactly backwards. These backward priorities are killing the Christian faith in the Middle East. They’re killing Christians in Africa. And their undermining our own national security. How long before we face another unthinkable tragedy, right here at home? When if we do the right thing it can be prevented."
Yes our President, who is so uncommitted to killing terrorists that he had to apologize to the families of two hostages caught in the crossfire, is allowing these jihadists to kill innocent Christians, and not lifting a finger to help.
After all can't we simply send American troops into Kenya and start killing their citizens simply because we are convinced they are potential terrorists?
Oh we can't?
Yeah but Sarah Palin just.....oh she's an idiot with no experience in foreign relations you say?
Well you do have to admit that it is terrible that this group is targeting ONLY Christians and killing them because of their faith, right?
Oh, Al-Shabaab is going after multiple targets including health centers and Mosques, local officials, UNICEF staff members, and just about anybody else they think might be in their way?
Yes but it's still true that the President is not doing anything to address this massacre of Christians, right?
Oh he called the president of Kenya right after the attacks to offer condolences, and he is headed to Kenya in July where he will discuss “how to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation and continue to work together to build a safer and more prosperous future for Kenya and the broader region?”
Oh well it's still true that Sarah Palin is a freeze dried moron, with not enough brain power to calculate the logistics necessary to scratch her own ass without a detailed instruction manual written in crayon to help her to decipher it, right?
Yes that last part is indeed correct.
I knew that.

Apparently Mitt Romney is a BIG hit in Africa. Well his t-shirts are anyway.
Courtesy of Little Green Footballs:
An American volunteer for The Orbit Village Project in Kenya, a charitable foundation for orphans and children whose parents cannot care for them, collects clothing, school supplies, and gifts for schoolchildren. Her nephew worked for the Romney campaign and had tons of worthless Romney T-shirts after election day 2012.
The result was the discarded shirts were sent to Kenya, where they’re now a huge hit with kids and some adults, too.
Without a doubt the best thing to come out of the Romney campaign.
You just KNOW that Romney found a way to use this as a tax right off, don't you?
By the way "Romney" in Kenyan means "emotionless mannequin."
Okay I made that up, sue me.

Another "huge scandal" uncovered by Andrew Breitbart's flying monkeys fizzles out again!
A few of you might have seen the above promotional booklet attached to a comment left here at IM earlier today.
Apparently the Right Wing was all worked up because they had finally uncovered "proof" that President Obama was born in Kenya. (I know right?)
Here is how the above booklet was described on the most batshit crazy website on the "intertubes:"
Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama's then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."
The forces of Breitbart went on to imply that this brief biographical blurb was undoubtedly approved by Obama himself:
He indicated that while "almost nobody" wrote his or her own biography, the non-athletes in the booklet, whom "the agents deal[t] with on a daily basis," were "probably" approached to approve the text as presented.
What? There was a promotional booklet saying Barack Obama was born in Kenya and he"probably"approved it? Aha! We've got that Socialist, Muslim, Communist, black radical church going Christian right where we want him now!
Or not:
"You're undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me -- an agency assistant at the time. There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."
Bummer.
You know the Right Wing is absolutely turning themselves inside out in an attempt to find something, ANYTHING, they can use to discredit this President. And I have a feeling we haven't seen anything yet.
You know President Obama must have done an even better job than I thought he did if these Right Wing assholes are having to go all the way back to 1991 in a desperate attempt to find something to smear him with. It certainly doesn't sound like they have too much faith in Romney's tactic of using the economic situation to beat him in the election now does it?
Damn is this going to be an entertaining election cycle!
Update: There is some talk of the above "mom jeans" photo of Romney having been phtotshopped. So here is another picture just to show the uncool factor is real, even IF that particular photo is not.

Donald Trump goes full Birther on the View.
Most of the interview is impossible to watch as this arrogant prick spends virtually the entire time stroking his own ego like some sad little exhibitionist with his fly undone. However the pertinent part begins at the 5:26 mark, and lasts for approximately three minutes.
Donald Trump is a self promoting, overly glorified, used car salesman. He is both a pimp and a whore, and NOBODY in their right mind would trust him to run this country.

In desperate attempt to garner more support Mike Huckabee throws out raw meat to the Birthers.
(If video does not play, please click here.)
Not to correct the amazing Lawrence O'Donnell but in fact the Huckabeee camp released a somewhat more wordy, but no less lame response:
"When the governor mentioned he wanted to know more about the president, he wasn’t talking about the president’s place of birth — the governor believes the president was born in Hawaii," Hogan Gidley said. "The governor would, however, like to know more about where President Obama’s liberal policies come from and what else the president plans to do to this country — as do most Americans."
That of course does nothing to explain Huckabee's misstatement. No he did NOT say the President was born in Kenya, and no one is saying he did. Of course the reason he gave for not making that particular accusation, which was also provided in this interview, was pretty inflammatory as well:
"The only reason I'm not as confident that there's something about the birth certificate . is because I know the Clintons and believe me, they have lots of investigators out on him, and I'm convinced if there was anything that they could have found on that, they would have found it, and I promise they would have used it," Huckabee said.
So apparently IF Obama had not run against Hillary Clinton during the 2008 primary, Huckabee would have openly accepted the idea that our President was not born in America. But in Huckabee's eyes since Hillary is such an aggressive, take no prisoners bitch, Obama must be a citizen. Darn the luck!
But the fact still remains that Huckabee completely made up this "fact" about our President having been raised in Kenya, which is factually untrue and which somebody needs to confront him on.
However so long as he hides out at Fox News, Christian broadcasting stations, and Right Wing radio we will never hear an explanation from the man who presents himself as the more reasonable fundamentalist Christian alternative to Sarah Palin.
She lies about the President to attract support from ignorant racists, and HE lies about the President to attract support from ignorant racists. The difference is barely discernible.

Newt Gingrich's reference to President Obama's "Kenyan anti-colonialism" is too much even for Joe Scarborough.
In my opinion this is as close to calling Barack Obama the "n-word" that Gingrich feels he can comfortably get, and it has the added benefit of tapping into all of that angry energy bubbling over in the "birther" subset of the Teabaggers movement.
You just watch, this "Kenyan Anti-colonialism" meme will be showing up on signs at rallies all over the country leading up to this November's election. The only question is what kind of an effect will it have on turn out?
You can read more about this story over at Politicususa.
