Florida couple uses Bible to justify the sexual abuse of teenage girl left in their care.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A 21-year-old Indiana woman has accused a couple who she lived with in Port St. Lucie, FL of physically and sexually abusing her for five years and using scripture from the Christian Bible’s Old Testament to justify it.

WPTV News reported that the accuser says that she was sent to live with Rob and Marie Johnson after the death of her mother nine years ago. The then-13-year-old was sexually abused by Rob Johnson virtually from the day she arrived in the home.

Rob and Marie Johnson reportedly believe in Old Testament law regarding marriage, under which a man can have many wives who are ultimately his property. The girl was ordered to call Jeff “Master” and to submit to his and Marie’s sexual advances whenever they ordered her to.

The Johnsons reportedly preyed on the young girl’s fear of being abandoned by telling her that if she wanted to be part of their family, she had to have sex with them.

“If she did not, the threat was that she would be turned over to state custody,” Herrington said.

Marie and Rob Johnson are charged with two felony counts of sexual assault against a child. They were arrested on Tuesday and released on bond Wednesday morning.

Isn't it great how religion can be used to justify just about every terrible thing you want to do?

And that boys and girls is why we do not base our laws on biblical teachings.

Who would Jesus rape? Leading Quiverfull advocate used his influence to groom teenage girl into his "personal sex object."

Courtesy of Raw Story:

A leading advocate of the patriarchal Quiverfull movement groomed a teenage girl as his “personal sex object” and then used the purity culture to shame her into silence, according to a lawsuit filed by his victim.

Douglas Phillips resigned last year from Vision Forum and Vision Forum Ministries over what he described at the time as an extramarital affair.

But the lawsuit, reported by Right Wing Watch, revealed more details about this relationship and the ways that women are treated in the Quiverfull movement – which has been popularized by the prolific Duggar family and their TLC reality show, 19 Kids and Counting.

Attorneys claim Phillips, a close friend to the Duggar family and an associate of actor Kirk Cameron, “methodically groomed” Lourdes Torres since she was 15 years old and led her to believe they would be married.

Phillips told the girl this was possible because his wife, Beall Phillips, “was going to die soon.”

Philips manipulated her into sexual situations with him, while at the same time telling her that her submission to his desires made her "damaged goods."

The suit claims Phillips repeatedly groped and touched Torres inappropriately and masturbated on her, “against her wishes and over her objections,” over a period of years.

“While Ms. Torres would have felt compelled to submit to Douglas Phillips, the purity culture would have meant at the same time, her submission made her ‘damaged goods’ in her eyes, the eyes of her family, and her community — raising the cost for her to come forward to call him to account,” the suit claims. “She was, in fact, in a ‘no-win’ situation.”

He also assured her that he had done nothing wrong, and their sexual encounters were not wrong, the suit claims, but he also said that if their relationship was indeed wrong, “it was completely her fault.”

This guy is a sick POS who garnered control over this young girl, and probably others, by using religion and the fact that the Quiverfull movement demands that women remain submissive to men.

This is why these assholes do not want their children in public schools, where school nurses might pick up signs of abuse, and where they will learn to question authority and think for themselves.

Child bride in Nigeria uses rat poison to kill her husband and three of his friends.

Courtesy of ABC News:

A child bride forced into marriage in Nigeria killed a groom and three of his friends with a poisoned meal, police said Thursday.

Fourteen-year-old Wasila Umaru was married last week to 35-year-old Umaru Sani, according to assistant superintendent Musa Magaji Majia.

Over the weekend, the groom invited a dozen friends to celebrate at his Ungwar Yansoro village, about 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the northern city of Kano.

The teenager told police she bought rat poison at a village market and used it to prepare a dish of rice.

"The suspect confessed to committing the crime and said she did it because she was forced to marry a man she did not love," Majia told The Associated Press.

The groom and a friend died the same day, and two other victims died later in the hospital.

Umaru is cooperating with police and likely will be charged with culpable homicide, according to Majia.

Child marriage is common in Nigeria and especially in the mainly Muslim and impoverished north, where the numbers increase in times of drought because a bride price is paid and it means one less mouth to feed. Fifty percent of Nigerian girls living in rural areas are married before they turn 18, according to the U.N. children's agency. That's a lot of child brides in a country of some 170 million people of whom half are under 18.

Before I start let me point out that the young girl in the picture above is NOT the girl in this story, however she is yet another child, this one from Yemeni, who was forced into a loveless marriage as very young girl.

Fortunatley for her she was granted a divorce, the girl in this story was not given that option.

This is a particular problem in areas with large Islamic populations, partly due to the fact that their prophet, Mohammad, took his own child bride, who was only six years old at the time. (Though to be fair he showed great restraint in not taking her virginity until she as 9 years old.)

Of course this is a despicable practice that the world should condemn, and influential nations should refuse to deal with countries where it is still practiced.

It might have made sense in ancient times for girls to marry young, since life expectancies were short, and infant mortality was high, but we live in a different time today.

Today it should be viewed as an aberration and religion should not be used to justify its continued practice.

In my opinion that fourteen year old girl was a victim, and should be released as having responded to an extreme situation in the only manner left open to her. I would not even suggest jail time, as she has clearly already served her sentence.

Wendy Davis uses Ted Nugent in new ad to shame Republican Greg Abbott.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

The ad features rape survivor Nicole Anderson speaking out, “I am speaking out because it really bothered me for Greg Abbott to partner with Ted Nugent knowing his history of being a predator. I was at home. I heard about it on the news. It made me feel like the it minimized the fact that Ted Nugent is a predator. I think that it sends the wrong message that he partnered up with this man that is very vocal about liking underage girls. There’s something wrong with that. It’s not okay.”

This ad is important on a couple of different levels. First, it is telling the truth about Ted Nugent. These types of ads should make Republican candidates think twice before they decide to cozy up to, and appear with, a self admitted sexual predator.

Secondly, the use of Nugent as a campaign booster by Abbott is an escalation of the Republican war on women, and the men who support the rights of all women. Abbott’s embrace of Nugent is sending the message to all voters that if Greg Abbott is elected governor, open season will continue on the rights of women.

You know I said when Nugent first appeared on stage with Abbott that this would do wonders for the Davis campaign, and clearly they agree with me.

Not only that but I can only imagine how much money Davis has raised off of Ted Nugent's interjection into the Abbott campaign.

Ted Nugent is a sick POS and it the Republicans are ignorant enough to bring him along on the campaign trail, then Democrats are going to be smart enough to use that against them.

Seriously, at this point, if any other Republican or Libertarian links themselves to Ted Nugent we really have to question their mental health. My guess is nobody will go there, but considering how stubborn and self delusional these idiots are anything is possible.

I am the innocent.

I have been wanting to write something about this for weeks, especially after reading about that 8 year old child bride who died from internal injuries after her "husband" raped her.

However I think this video does a far better job of illustrating the horrendous conditions that many of these young Muslim girls are exposed to than anything I could write.

And if that were not shocking enough there are also the little girls sold into "temporary" marriages so that they can be defiled and abused without their abusers technically defying the laws of Islam. As the article states, some of these children have been "married" up to 60 times by the time they turn eighteen years old.

In a society where virginal purity is the only thing of value for a young woman, where is there for these victims to go?

I am made physically ill at the thought of this, and angered that our distaste for challenging religious customs allows this to continue without worldwide condemnation.

They are child molesting. rapist, POS. And I don't give a shit if they are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, or even Atheists, they are fucking criminals!

Fox News guest accuses President of promoting statutory rape with over the counter Plan B pill.

Courtesy of Addicting Info:

When Blakeman said that providing teenagers access to the morning-after pill means that Obama is somehow condoning or encouraging criminal behavior, statutory rape, my mouth dropped open. I know, I know, at this point I should not be shocked by the stupid that is Fox News but every once in a while I find myself at a loss for words. The president is not encouraging anything; he is being realistic, and the reality is that kids are going to have sex. We may not want them to have sex, but they are doing it. Turning a blind eye to the problem does not make it any less of a problem. The CDC found that in 2011 329,797 babies were born to teenagers; that is 31.3 percent per thousand girls between the ages of 13-19. That is an ASTRONOMICAL number! Wouldn’t you think common sense dictates that these kids need something readily available to them just in case they find themselves in an unwanted predicament? Of course not and Julie Rodinsky hit the nail right on the head as to why.

"You’re living in a world that just doesn’t exist. The bottom line is, just because you don’t want kids who are 15, 16 years old to have sex, you’re going to punish them by not providing them with the means to not get pregnant. … It’s not encouraging it, these kids are going out and doing it; the president’s not encouraging it… All the president is doing and all the FDA is doing is assuring these kids is if they go out and do this – and nobody’s advocating that they do – but if they go out and do this that they don’t get pregnant… you might not like it, government is not condoning it, but if you don’t give them the tools to prevent abortion and pregnancy, they’ll have abortion and pregnancy."

Let's face it the Conservatives don't want women to have access to birth control, don't want them to have abortions, and don't want them to have access to the "morning after pill."

Essentially they don't want them to have sex.

However these same restrictions NEVER seem to apply to the men.

Where is the outrage over men buying condoms? Aren't THOSE encouraging per-marital sex?

Let's be honest. If conservative men could figure out some way to reverse the procedure when they got married to them, they would undoubtedly encourage female circumcision as a way to control the libidos and reproductive rights of young women.

These men fear the female sexuality and envy their ability to bring new life into this world,

If given the opportunity they would just like to shut that whole thing down.

Pastor only receives a 12 year sentence for the statutory rape of an underage teenage girl. Not nearly enough, not by a long shot.

More from the Chicago Tribune:

In a statement, the victim wrote that Schaap would text her from the altar during his sermons. In another statement, written as a letter to Schaap, she wrote: “When you first kissed me I was shocked. . .When I asked you if it was wrong, you said ‘No.’ You told me that I was sent you from God, I was his gift to you. You made me feel special.”

Schaap entered a guilty plea last September in a deal with federal prosecutors, admitting to allegations that led to his ouster from the highly conservative Hammond Baptist Church that his late father in-law, Jack Hyles, had built into one of the area’s largest churches.

But at sentencing today, U.S. District Court Judge Rudy Lozano said a 10-year-deal hammered out by both sides did not meet the 12-year-minimum required under federal sentencing guidelines. Schaap stared at the judge without emotion.

While Lozano lauded Schaap for quickly pleading guilty last fall before the complaint was even filed, Lozano said he did not want to set the example by "giving a 25 percent discount" for that cooperation.

While Schaap eventually took responsibility for his actions Schaap initially denied the allegations when he was confronted by church officials, Lozano said. In explanations for the stiffer sentence, the judge pointed to Schaap's attempts to get rid of evidence by deleting text messages and photos of him with the girl and that the pastor also fired at least one church staffer who had questioned the pastor's relationship with the girl, Lozano said.

"Schaap initially denied the allegations when confronted." How Christian of him.

So this sleazy piece of shit used the trust of this child to convince her that the God which she believes in, and who she also believed he spoke on behalf of, had provided her to him to violate? That one of the most hateful things that I can imagine a person doing to a trusting. deeply religious child.

You know I don't believe in hell, but once in a while I wish I was wrong. Because in this case it simply does not feel that this sentence is nearly enough.

Perhaps the most disgusting part is how his congregation made excuses on his behalf.

More than 100 letters of support were sent to Lozano, attesting to decades of good works by the pastor, and claiming that stress and health problems— including prostate troubles and “low lithium levels”— led Schaap to stray during a romantic relationship with the vulnerable teen.

That is the kind of loyalty that only comes when somebody has been convinced that a person is "special" and has some unique insight or relationship with a higher power.

They are conditioned to trust him, and so trust him they do. As did this poor young girl, who now will forever fear to trust anybody EVER again.
