The wife of Kentucky State Rep. Dan Johnson, who killed himself on Wednesday amid a bombshell report's accusations of sexual assault, announced Thursday that she would pursue her husband’s seat, saying “his fight will go on.”
Dan Johnson, a preacher and a Republican, committed suicide Wednesday on a bridge in Mt. Washington, according to Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell. The coroner confirmed that Johnson died of a single gunshot wound to the head, and the weapon was found near the 57-year-old's body.
The statement from Johnson’s widow, Rebecca, said she was running for the position because “these high-tech lynchings based on lies and half-truths can’t be allowed to win the day.”
“Dan is gone but the story of his life is far from over,” she said.
I think the story of his life is that he was yet another over privileged white guy who hid behind religion while preying on young girls and when he got caught killed himself.

The feces really hit the old fan blades with yesterday's revelation that Roy Moore not only used to proposition high school girls while in his 30's but also attempted to rape one of them.
THAT revelation had the Republican rats jumping off the SS Pedophile in droves.
However Moore still has his supporters, which apparently include the reporters of Breitbart. (Seriously? You were surprised?)
Right-leaning news outlet Breitbart sent two reporters to Alabama for the purpose of discrediting the reporting on child sex abuse charges against Roy Moore.
Unfortunately these two reporters were unable to provide much cover as new disgusting information made its way to the internet.
Roy Moore’s inappropriate behavior with teenage girls was an open secret in his hometown of Gadsden, Alabama, where he badgered teens so often he was banned from the local mall, the New Yorker reports.
“He would go and flirt with all the young girls,” Blake Usry confirmed to AL.com, adding that tales about Moore have been floating around town for three decades. “It’d seem like every Friday or Saturday night [you’d see him] walking around the mall, like the kids did.”
Yuck! How did this never come out before?
For his part Roy Moore is simply arguing that all of this is a hit job with evidence manufactured by his political enemies.

For the first time the Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate, Doug Jones, is leading in a new poll. The numbers come in the aftermath of recent sexual misconduct allegations by multiple women against Republican Roy Moore.
The polling was conducted before the latest accusation on Monday from a woman claiming Moore sexually assaulted her when she was 16.
Louisianna-based JMC Analytics shows Jones with a new advantage at 46-42. 9% of voters remain undecided. Both candidates experienced a six-point swing from the last survey. Of the 9% undecided, 48% say they are leaning towards Jones against 44% towards Moore.
Keep in mind this was BEFORE the new allegations of attempted rape.
No things are not looking good for Judge "Me like little girls" Moore.
I think in this one moment Melania Trump echoes the sentiments of most Americans that are feeling that they are now being held against their will by a crazy person.
I know, I know, one incident does not really prove anything.
Pretty clear that to Trump his wife is just a possession.
Something he once really wanted, so he took it, and now it is just another pretty thing that he can show off to his friends so that they will admire his manliness for taking it.
As reported by the Blue Nation Review, Bernie was celebrating a great election night, but in the moment that Sanders was expressing his joy, video caught Sanders acknowledging Jane — on Bernie’s all-important right-hand side — but at the same time making a motion to wave Jane away when she stepped forward.
Bernie can be heard either telling Jane not to stand there or “don’t stand next to me,” with an arm movement that pushed Jane back gently, as if to instruct her that he didn’t want her standing there the whole time. It may have been an innocent instruction towards his wishes at the moment — but it’s not being received well online.
With Bernie’s wife, Jane, being held up as a woman who has long supported her husband, to see Bernie wave Jane away or tell his wife not to stand there is being interpreted as Bernie not wanting to share the spotlight with his “help mate” or right-hand woman. As expected, such a gesture is making people online react with fury.
This is the kind of thing that often really gets overblown in the political season.
I don't necessarily think that Sanders looks like a "dick" for asking his wife to step back, however I will admit that with perhaps the most famous woman in the world as his opponent that ANY signs of misogyny on his part will be used against him moving forward.
P.S. By the way the person who posted this video also included a link to another video of Sanders appearing on Real Time and waving his hand in Abby Huntsman's face and acting dismissively toward her as more proof of his negative attitude toward women.
In case you haven’t noticed, this presidential election is a shit show, and it’s devolving into, well, whatever is worse than that. So when the folks at Bad Lip Reading dropped this gem of a faux Cruz campaign ad, it’s almost believable that the senator from Texas would smile and say, “I’d like to stick garden gnomes in this building,” or “if there’s one thing our country doesn’t need more of, it’s goose diarrhea!” Which is true, but still.
I think my favorite part is the hint at the end that Heidi Cruz is cuckolding him with some guy named Herbert Spinecki.
I doubt that any of us would blame her if that were true.
Let's face it Ted Cruz has the kind of face that makes your stomach start to churn when you look at it.

In the same week that comedian Bill Cosby was arrested on sexual assault charges, his wife, Camille Cosby, learned she must testify in a civil case against the entertainer filed by seven women who said he defamed them, court documents said.
A federal magistrate judge in Massachusetts on Thursday rejected arguments by Cosby's wife of almost 52 years, who also has been his business manager, that the deposition would represent an "undue burden."
The deposition is scheduled for next Wednesday, a week after Bill Cosby, 78, was charged in Pennsylvania in the only criminal case brought against the actor, who has been accused by more than 50 women of sexually abusing them in incidents dating back decades.
You might think that a man who professes to love his wife as much as Bill Cosby does, might just consider entering a plea deal in order to keep her from having to embarrass or humiliate herself in a courtroom on his behalf.
The man has truckloads and truckloads of money, but only one woman who was willing to stand by his side when the whole world turned their back to demonstrate their disgust at his behaviors.
Or perhaps there are simply NO women that Bill Cosby respects enough not to use them for his own personal gratification or as a human shield.
A woman in Fayetteville, N.C. allegedly shot her husband in the chest when he came home to surprise her with breakfast Friday morning, television station WTVD reported.
Police said Tiffany Segule, 27, shot her husband, Zia Segule, 28, after he returned home to surprise her and set off their home's alarm system, the station reported.
She had returned to bed after her husband left for work and thought there was an intruder, according to police. She fired a shot through her bedroom door, authorities told the TV station.
The bullet hit her husband in the chest, but police told WTVD that he was able to walk and talk after being shot. He was released from the hospital hours after the incident.
As Wayne LaPierre would say, "Just a good woman with a gun stopping a bad man with breakfast."
10 to 1 the husband bought her that gun for protection, and she then went and used it to put holes in him. Women!
When I first posted this story yesterday I kind of thought it was a one time simple post that I would not really have to revisit again.
You know guy shoots wife, claims it was an accident, and will probably end up in jail.
Simple right?
Nope.
As it turns out police chief William McCollom's story is even more ridiculous than simply the fact that he claimed to have fired a gun at his wife twice by accident. He also claims he did this in his sleep.
This is from the newly released 911 tape presented courtesy of CNN:
"Who shot her?" the 911 operator asked William McCollom, the police chief in Peachtree City, Georgia.
"Me," McCollom replied.
"How did you shoot her?"
"The gun was in the bed, I went to move it, put it to the side, and it went off," McCollom said.
"Is she awake?"
"No, everybody was sleeping," McCollom said.
"No, is she awake now?"
"Yes," he said.
Later in the call, the operator asked McCollom, "Were you asleep also when this happened?"
"Yes," he said.
I think my favorite part of this is when the operator asks "Is she awake now?"
You know I once was married to a woman who was an incredibly heavy sleeper, I mean nothing woke this woman up.
However I have to say that if I had shot her in her sleep that probably would have done the job.
So if this guy is telling the truth, he is saying that he literally sleeps with a hand gun in his bed and that, while he was asleep, he attempted to move it and it fired twice hitting his wife once.
Another interesting tidbit to add to the things that make you go "Hmmm," is the fact that this is the same woman that the police chief cheated on, divorced once, and is now recently back together with.
Yeah I think we are going to continue following this story.
The wife of Peachtree City Police Chief William E. McCollum is in critical condition after being shot by her husband Thursday morning.
Police responded to the couple's home in the 100 block of Autumn Leaf shortly after 4:15 a.m., where they found the victim, 58-year-old Margaret McCollum. She was taken by helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center.
The GBI will handle the shooting investigation. GBI spokeswoman Sherry Lang said Chief McCollum called 911 to say he accidentally shot his wife twice with his service weapon.
After investigating it was determined that the chief only managed to hit his wife once.
Gee, with all of the practice they get you think he could group his shots better than that.
Oh, I forgot it was an "accident."
Apparently the shooting took place in the couple's bedroom. Which as we all know is the very best place to be brandishing a firearm.
Surprisingly as a non-gun owner I have always felt quite safe in my bedroom.
My ex-wife used to check her horoscope every morning in the ADN before she would do anything.
It assigned a ratio between one to five stars indicating the kind of day she should expect.
My wife would often make clothing choices, change appointments, and decide what kind of mood she would in be based solely on that imaginary criteria.
For the most part I did not bother to point out the ignorance of basing life decisions on the appearance of stars billions of light years away, or let her in on the fact that many of those points of light are from stars that have burnt out millions if not billions of years ago. It would not have done much good anyway.
You really cannot chip away at a person's superstitions if they have decided that they are an important part of how they perceive the world.
Oh look how blessed these two are. He for having a wife who will lower herself to provide cover for his sexual peccadilloes and her for having a husband who thinks so little of her that he cheated on her with a staffer and then used her in this way.
A man's character is not based on on how many times he gets back up and stands again, it's based on making mistakes and learning from them, NOT demanding that the press leave him alone while he considers his strategy, and then trotting his wife out front and center to hide behind her skirts, and of course the camouflage provided by invoking his and her Christian faith.
While I don't necessarily think that a politician should lose their seat for cheating on their wives, I certainly do think they should lose their seat for engaging in this kind of blatant manipulation and pandering.
You know I think that this may be one of the most despicable things that a male politician asks of his wife.

Henry Rayhons, 78, a Republican state representative from Iowa House District 8, was told by medical staff on May 15 that his wife, 78-year-old Donna Rayhons, no longer had the mental ability to consent to sexual activity, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WHO-TV.
Donna Rayhons, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, had been living in Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa, since March, according to the Des Moines Register.
On May 23 — 8 days after being told his wife could no longer consent — Rayhons went into his wife’s room at the nursing home and closed the curtains that separated the woman from her roommate. The roommate later told staff that the noises she heard indicated Rayhons was engaged in sexual activity with his wife.
Surveillance video also allegedly shows Rayhons throwing his underwear into a laundry bag as he left the room, according to the complaint.
In an interview with law enforcement in June, Rayhons allegedly confessed to “having sexual contact” with his wife, according to KCCI. He also allegedly admitted that he had a copy of the document that stated his wife did not have the cognitive ability to give consent.
Rayhons was charged with third-degree sexual abuse on Friday.
You know Republicans are forever telling people that there are certain kinds of sex that is permissible, between a man and his wife for instance, and types of sex that are not permissible, such as any kind that is really enjoyable.
And of course they use the Bible and label everything they do not like as a "sin."
However for those of us who do not take our morality from the pages of an ancient book, we usually determine permissible sex as any sex act between to consenting adults, who have the capacity to provide that consent.
What Mr. Rayhons did is disgusting.
He took advantage of a person who was unable to provide her consent.
It does not matter that the body he used was that of his wife, because her mind was unable to make a decision to provide consent. and that makes what he did rape.
And HE is a pig for putting his salacious needs above those of a woman that he is supposed to love and protect.
The soon-to-be ex-wife of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman acquitted in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, discovered a used marksman target riddled with 17 bullet holes nailed to the wall of the home the estranged couple once shared, after he was forced to move out.

The Florida investigative journalist who is the first reporter to sit down with George Zimmerman’s wife, Shellie, said that during their “stunning” hourlong interview, the acquitted killer’s wife said that her husband has “beaten down her self-esteem,” but she is “looking forward to getting her life back.”
Christi O’Connor spoke with ABCNews.com today about her experience locking down an interview with Shellie Zimmerman as the media focused its attention on her husband, who was acquitted of second-degree murder charges in the death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed 17-year-old, in Sanford, Fla., in February 2012.
“When I asked her why she was doing [the interview], Shellie said, ‘I want to start my life back.’ George Zimmerman has beaten down her self-esteem,” O’Connor told ABCNews.com, adding that
Shellie is using this opportunity for a new start. “She has a moment in the spotlight. She wants everyone to know that she changed her life.”
Shellie also told O’Connor that the aftermath of the shooting and months until the trial put a major strain on the couple’s relationship.
“It put great stress on their marriage,” she said. “Constantly having to move. She got threats. A lot of threats. She doesn’t want to reveal from who…. They are constantly living under fear of being attacked.”
O’Connor, who is working on a book about the George Zimmerman trial, also hinted that there was evidence that was mishandled, saying that during the sensational trial, “there were so many untruths told.”
“What the jury never heard could have led to a different verdict,” she said.
I don't now about all of you but that last line sent a chill down my spine.
So Zimmerman and his wife had domestic problems, and she had removed herself from the home on the night that he killed the unarmed teenager. Isn't THAT interesting.

Because we know the game now, and we just won’t put up with it.
So, good call media! Way to go to covertly hype this, even Gingrich opponents, for being so brilliant they sure are dumb.

At long last, the political spouse who has kept the lowest profile of the campaign season is preparing to make a network debut. Mrs. Cain, who has been married to the former restaurant executive Herman Cain for 43 years, is expected to sit down this weekend with Greta Van Susteren of Fox News, for a segment that could air on Monday, according to a source familiar with the planning.
Mrs. Cain has, to date, not appeared on the campaign trail with her husband, and is said to prefer her home life in Atlanta, far away from the national spotlight. But since allegations of sexual harassment began to engulf the Cain campaign almost two weeks ago, it had been rumored that Mrs. Cain would eventually come to her husband’s defense on television.
Mr. Cain has been talking about his wife and family more of late, perhaps to offer a counterpoint to the multiple women who have come forward to accuse him of inappropriate behavior while he was chief of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.
Personally I think this is a terrible idea, and truly unfair to Mrs. Cain.
I can only imagine what all of this attention to her husband's less than ethical behavior toward women has done to her self esteem, and being trotted out on national television to provide damage control is the final indignity.
Besides ultimately it will do absolutely no good. Nobody EVER believes their loved one capable of horrible behaviors.
How many times have we seen the mother's of murders or rapists in abject denial of their child's guilt? Has that ever stopped a criminal case from moving forward? No, it has not.
And this sideshow will not stop the investigation into Cain's unethical behaviors from progressing either. Only now we have the added "entertainment" of watching Gloria Etchison Cain struggle with her emotions in front of millions of viewers as well.
If Herman Cain were a REAL man, he would end his candidacy and spare his wife and family any further shame and humiliation.
