Just a quick update.

I am on the last leg of my flight home.

I have been away from my computer since early this morning which is why there have only been relatively few posts. However when I get home I will get right back to it and address the crazy Palin name-calling of CBS and also post a link to my BBC interview for those who are interested.

Until then have a Happy Halloween!

Now we know why Joe Miller has his own security goons. The guy is terrified of his own shadow!

From Alaska Dispatch:

Days before he was caught using the borough computers for the poll, Miller had spoken openly with members of the borough office about a potential threat coming his way. The Alaska Republican Party was out to get him, Miller told them, and he warned them to be careful about what they did on their computers. Miller claimed a public records request was in the works aimed at scrutinizing employees' computer use, adding that, if granted, he feared it might reveal child pornography on his computer. If any inappropriate material was found on his computer, Miller told them, they needed to know it would be the result of a sophisticated setup -- someone hacking the Fairbanks North Star Borough's computer system and planting inappropriate material on his computer.

You know what they say about people who deny that they have done anything wrong before anybody accuses them don't you? But those are just the first steps down the Teabagger Joe rabbit hole, keep reading.

But Joe Miller's wariness went far beyond the alleged computer plot. He was also convinced his office was bugged, the borough employees told Alaska Dispatch.

And he believed there was a murder plot under way to kill him and then-Gov. Sarah Palin, who at the time also was trying to persuade her fellow Republicans to dump Randy Ruedrich as the party chairman. Miller feared someone might tamper with his tires, causing him to have an accident as he drove to Anchorage, the borough employees recalled.

With his worries mounting, Miller wanted Jim Whitaker, then the mayor of the Fairbanks North Star Borough, to provide a security staff for him, his former co-workers said. Miller wanted doors locked and security cameras mounted in the borough's legal offices (The New York Times has reported that Miller has security cameras at his home). And he wanted an escape route -- a second exit in case the main one was somehow blocked or unsafe.

"He was just very paranoid about the whole thing," one employee said.

Do you want to know WHO Miller thought was out to snuff him?  Go ahead, guess.

Miller believed the people out to get him included Ruedrich and former Gov. Frank Murkowski, the father of Sen. Lisa Murkowski -- one of Miller's opponents in the Senate race -- and the man who appointed her to the job in 2002.

Miller told one of his co-workers that Frank Murkowski and Ruedrich were men who "had the power and money to pull something off," the borough employee said Friday.

Well perhaps that explains Joey's unfathomable fear of the press and his outright animosity toward Lisa, this "combat veteran" is convinced that his life is constantly in danger, and that Lisa's pop might gut him and leave him to bleed to death in a gutter.

Look I know we don't have any real proof, but this has PTSD written all over it.

And regardless of his true diagnosis, I think we can all agree that Miller needs serious psychological counseling, not a Senate seat.

Please click the Alaska Dispatch link at the top and read the rest of this amazing article.

Joe Miller's campaign is a lost cause. Don't believe me? Would you believe Sarah Palin?

From Sarah Palin's very own Twitter page:

Joe Miller - do not give up. It's you against the machine. This is it. "'Lost causes' are the only ones worth fighting for." Clarence Darrow
about 21 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

You know usually when you are trying to encourage a guy not to give up you don't refer to his cause as "lost."

Hey not that I don't agree with you I am just saying that, once again, you are not exactly helping.

And hey Sarah did you know that the guy you are quoting is a famous agnostic who argued in court to allow Evolution to be taught in the classroom?

He also had a few other notable quotes you could have chosen from.

Such as, "I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure - that is all that agnosticism means. "

As well as, "I do not believe in God because I do not believe in Mother Goose."

Hmm,  I wonder how your fundamentalist followers will react to the fact that just you quoted the hero to atheists and scientists all over the world?

Sarah Palin has a short, and selective, memory.

Sister Sarah prodded her indentured servant Facebook writer to post the following in response to news that local radio jerkwad, and Joe Miller supporter, Dan "Are you going to finish that dessert" Fagan had been taken off of the air because of complaints that he was engaging in election fraud :

Individuals like Dan Fagan have a fundamental right to speak their minds without threats from the incumbent Senator from Alaska. It is hard to find a constitutional right Americans cherish more than the right to free speech. This was a right Joe Miller, as a decorated combat veteran – a tank commander tested in battle, was willing to die to defend. Dan Fagan has not always agreed with me, but I will gladly defend his right to speak freely on his radio show, which he has often used to criticize me. In fact, Fagan has actually used his radio show to attack and insult me, my husband, my children, and my family in just about every way possible. He was especially insulting to my son, who left for a war zone to defend Fagan’s right to attack our family. But when I was his governor, I never would have dreamed of threatening his right to free speech. I support him in this fight because this D.C. Beltway thuggery, as exemplified by Lisa Murkowski’s latest threat, is ruining our country. The powers that be want ordinary Americans to sit down and shut up and let the ruling class ride us right off the debt cliff we’re heading towards with Obama, Pelosi, and Reid steering the nation’s car. We can’t let them. Now is the time to put aside our past differences and stand up to the establishment powers.

Okay well encouraging people to fraudulently attempt to cause mayhem at polling places in order to benefit your candidate may not exactly fall under the protection of the First Amendment, but I do agree with Palin that people's right to free speech MUST be protected!

However unlike Palin I also believed that back in December of 2009, when she had ME and my friend  Dennis Zaki ejected from an "open to the public" book signing by the Wasilla police.

The woman who once called on the press to "quit makin' things up" took it a step further yesterday by allegedly banning four members of the media from a book event in Wasilla, Alaska.

So let me see if I have this clear.  Free speech is protected when it might keep a radio host who supports your candidate from being suspended, but not when it means that bloggers and news people who have been critical of you might ask you an embarrassing question in front of your fans Ms. Palin?

You know the Constitution is not a spigot you can turn on and off at will.  Either it protects free speech or it doesn't.

Hypocrisy thy name is Palin!

The Rally to Restore Sanity was, I must say, a little insane.

Look I have no real idea of how big Glenn Beck's rally was, you my be surprised to learn I did not attend.  However THIS rally was.....GINORMOUS!

I am notorious for not being able to estimate crowd size, but the number that was thrown out during the rally was 150,000 and  I would not doubt it one little bit.

The crowd, which was so closely packed together that I think many of us would be considered legally married in several states along the Bible Belt, was made up of both young and old, white and brown, progressive and liberal, coke AND Pepsi drinkers, and.....well you get the idea.

I arrived before nine in the morning, and ALREADY there were several thousands of people in attendance.  And that crowd continued to grow until it reached from East Seaton park to the Washington Monumnet.

So just imagine that entire  greenbelt filled in with socialists and fascists and you will have some idea of the crowd size.

My original plan was to tweet pictures and update, but there was NO cell phone reception  and no wi-fi service to use my laptop in order to do any blogging.

I did however get a few pictures.

Here are the people already arriving at 9:00 in the morning.

Here is some idea of how big the crowd was.  It extended much further in the other direction.

There were lots of great signs but this was one of my favorites.

All in ll it was a great deal of fun and I am glad I was able to attend.

I know that some people may have been expecting something different, perhaps more radical, but for me this was just the dose of fun filled sanity that I was looking for.

And not only that but I was treated to free concert that featured  John Legend, Yusuf (Cat Stevens), Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, and many other talented musicians and singers. As my mother would say, can't beat that with  stick!

Current Governor, and Teabagger-lite, Sean Parnell flubs a question that most middle school children could answer with ease.

Isn't it frightening that an educated man has to act like an imbecile in an effort to convince the anti-science crowd to vote for him?

"Governor Parnell is Gravity real?"

"What does it say in the bible?"

"The bible does not mention gravity sir, but you do know that when you throw a ball into the air that it falls back down, right?"

"For all I know God might just be throwing it back for a game of catch."

"Oh Governor your lack of intelligence and complete denial of obvious scientific evidence has convinced me that you are the perfect person to be in charge of the welfare of people in our state.  I can just hardly wait to vote for you!  I just hope the ballot is not to difficult for me to understand."

People please vote for Ethan Berkowitz.  I mean really, is there any other choice for  those of us WITHOUT our heads shoved up our ass?

Palin's recent bizarre behavior has once again attracted the attention of Keith Olbermann. That is never a good thing for the Grizzled Mama.

Murkowski's new ad directed against Joe Miller could deal a fatal blow to his campaign.

You know I am not a Lisa supporter, but this is a damn good ad!

In fact I think it might just be enough to win this thing for Scott McAdams.

Thanks Lisa!

Palin goes nuclear over government official's tongue in cheek happy birthday tweet to Iranian President Ahmadinejad.

Here is what the State Department’s Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Philip J. Crowley tweeted this morning:

THIS is how the Grizzled Mama lost her shit about it:

Happy B'day Ahmadinejad wish sent by US Govt. Mind boggling foreign policy: kowtow & coddle enemies; snub allies. Obama Doctrine is nonsense about 5 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

As many of you know Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer are the two young men who are currently being held in Iran right now.  Secretary Crowley is using a little thing called "diplomacy" in an attempt to convince Ahmadinejad to do something positive to celebrate his birthday, though probably a little sarcastically.  Sadly it appears that the queen of mean only knows how to use bullying tactics to get her way, and simply cannot understand why we would not simply launch a nuclear attack to free the Americans.  Well free whatever was left of them of course.

Americans awaken 2 bizarre natl security thinking of Obama Admn: Ahmadinejad b'day greeting after call 4 Israel's destruction speaks volumes about 4 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

Okay it could be partly because her butt-boy is free falling in recent polls, it could be because she is afraid that Bristol will not be the only Palin to come up a loser on Tuesday,  but whatever it is there is no doubt that Sister Sarah desperately needs her meds adjusted.

She must be hell on ice to live with right now.

Here is tomorrow's schedule for Rally to Restore Sanity.

From Digital Journal:

10:00 a.m.: The pre-pre-show begins with videos and music on the jumbotron to keep the gathering crowd friendly and entertained.

Noon: The pre-show starts with a performance from The Roots.

12:40: A comedian (to be determined) warms up the audience.

12:57: A video countdown with a show introduction.

1:00: The show kicks off with the national anthem by a musical guest (to be announced).

1:05: Mr. Stewart welcomes the crowd

1:20: Mr. Colbert enters, and two actors – Don Novello and Sam Waterston – perform readings.

1:40: Jeff Tweedy and Mavis Staple perform for 10 minutes, followed by Stewart and Colbert until 2 p.m.

2:15: Sheryl Crow performs for five minutes, followed by speakers and guests (to be determined).

2:30: Musical guests (also still being lined up) play

2:40: The show turns to a pre-taped sequence – The Sanity and Fear Awards

This rally in Washington will also air on Comedy Central and The Comedy Network.

It is my understanding that there are also several surprises not included on this schedule.

I just returned from walking to the East Seaton park at the end the National Mall.  It is about a half hour walk from where I am staying and I intend to get there early, probably around 9:00 A.M..

I did the touristy thing and visited as many of the Smithsonian buildings as I could, including the Natural History and the Air and Space Museum. I also saw the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, the World War 2 Memorial, and of course the White House. Whew!

The wind is blowing like crazy today, and there are dark clouds rolling in, though the forecast says it should be sunny on Saturday.  I hope so, not that I would not GLADLY sit in a downpour to see Jon and Stephen. Cause you know I would.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow and hope I do better at taking pictures then I did today.

Here are a few that survived.

Building the sets
For those who are overwhelmed with all of the sanity
I am not gay or anything but I have to say that Georgie was rocking quite a physique
Like I said I hope to have more, and better pictures, after the rally tomorrow.

Wish me luck.

Update: As for meeting up tomorrow, I have received a number of phone numbers and contact e-mails from many of you to facilitate a meet up. However, I don't really have the time to answer each query individually. So if you don't mind how about if I just use my twitter account (You can see the twitter feed on the right hand side of this blog) to let you all know where I will be tomorrow during the rally (as soon as I figure that out of course), and we can meet then.  I will be wearing a McAdams "It's about Alaska" pin so I should be easy relatively easy to spot.

As for this evening I am heading over to Malia Litman's book signing at Borders Books on 1800 L Street at 6:30, so we can meet up then as well. .Even if we don't see each other I hope that ALL of you attending have a great time.  I know I will!

Christine O'Donnell's only hope is if somebody convinces her to stop talking. No seriously!

You this is the part where I usually make some comical, yet scathing, comments about O'Donnell and poke fun at her personality, her campaign, and the Teabaggers for supporting her.  But really what more could I add to this to make her look any worse?

Essentially she is a living, breathing SNL skit.

Sarah Palin's Facebook page hacked.

From the Daily Beast:

The vertical message that ran down the left side on Glenn Beck's Facebook page the night of October 14 read clear as that evening's sky: "K-E-E-P F-E-A-R A-L-I-V-E." It was a reference to Stephen Colbert’s March to Keep Fear Alive, a gathering organized in faux-competition with this weekend’s Rally to Restore Sanity, headlined by Jon Stewart.

Minutes after the first message appeared, the same letters, in the same order, began turning up on the fan pages of FOX News', Sarah Palin, and hilariously, Justin Bieber. Each letter was displayed in the space where a profile picture would normally be, next to a posted comment. As each Facebook user posted their comments in the right order, the message came to life.

Seeing the unauthorized messages pop up on their feeds, the page administrators began furiously scrubbing the pages. Palin's message lasted almost an hour. Beck's was gone in just one minute.

You know I am not usually a fan of sabotage or hacking people's webpages, but I have to admit THAT is pretty funny!  I think it is especially funny that the professionals working on Beck's page handled the problem in minutes, where as Palin's bunch of amateurs took the better part of an hour.

Palin on Miller:"Are we even fit to tie his combat boots?

From Alaska Dispatch:

Joe Miller's "Politicking with the Stars" stormed into Anchorage's Dena'ina Convention Center Thursday night starring former Gov. Sarah Palin, a Hollywood actress and a handful of GOP leaders.

"Alaska was born to lead America," Palin told the crowd.

"Lady Liberty and Sarah Palin are lit by the same torch," Bachmann said in her recorded speech. Palin told "Entertainment Tonight" Thursday she may run for president in 2012.

An estimated 300 to 400 people cheered on Miller and Palin, including many who made the drive down from Wasilla and the Mat-Su Valley, despite the snow Thursday night. Miller, the Alaska Republican Senate candidate locked in a three-for-all race for the seat held by Sen. Lisa Murkowski, was all smiles, even if the crowd was far smaller than the Glen Beck-Sarah Palin 9/11 rally last month in Anchorage.

"You're not getting the truth from the lamestream media." Palin said. And then looking towards the media scrum, she said, "You just don't get it," which got the one of the biggest applause lines of the night.

Miller is so qualified to be senator "are we even fit to tie his combat boots?" she asked.

WTF?  Either this bat-shit crazy lady has a completely unrealistic view of who Joe Miller really is, or she has absolutely NO respect for the people of Alaska!

I can tell you right now that when the Alaska voters hear the woman who was so unqualified to be their Governor that she ran screaming from the job half-way through, suggest  that THEY are not fit to tie an unethical liar's boots, THEY are going to run away from him in droves.

Now add to this pathetic and insulting show of support for Miller an unethical attempt by local radio jerk Dan Fagan and a pro-Palin website to have Miller supporters add themselves as write-in candidates, and it appears that Palin and her unhinged supporters are literally handing this election to Scott McAdams.

Yeah THAT should really impress her base and help her get the Republican nomination for President!

Kentucky Democrats turn up the heat on Rand Paul.

Yes, I think it is past time that we used the Teabagger's use of violent imagery and threats of violence against them.

In fact somebody needs to make a similar commercial pointing out the violence used by Joe Miller. Don't you think?

Palin does the safest of softball interviews with Mary "Why won't my face stop smiling" Hart.

Here is the link to the video. (I decided to remove the embd because it was one that automatically played and it was driving people nuts.)

"Just a house that Todd and his buddies built" she says. (With "borrowed" materials from the Wasilla Sports Center of course!)

Hey I can see Joe's house from her yard!

"I have not decided what I am going to do in 2012."  Lies! She knows EXACTLY what she is going to do in 2012! IF she can find enough brain damaged  people to support her that is!

Did she really just say that if she feels there are not the right kind of candidates in the race SHE will make the sacrifice and run? How many people can there be in the country that believe  Sarah "look a shiny object" Palin has the intelligence, the experience, and let's face it, has the attention span required to do a job that incredibly demanding?

Please say it is only about twelve!

So Mary Hart came ALL the way up here just to ask Sarah those fuzzy non-threatening questions?

Is it possible she is also covering a certain desperate attempt to bring some, let's say "glamour" to butt-boy's failing campaign?

Well if she is she better hurry, because it looks like Miller's ship is sinking fast!

A new poll conducted by Hays Research confirms what we already intuitively know. Alaska U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller's candidacy is in big trouble.

The percentage of Alaskans who feel either "somewhat negative" or "very negative" about Miller has skyrocketed in recent weeks to an astronomical 68 percent. Only 8 percent feel "somewhat negative" and the remainder, a jaw-dropping 60 percent, feel "very negative" about Miller as a candidate.

A series of gaffes, inconsistencies, and controversial statements to the press, in addition to the arrest of a journalist by Miller security guards have come one on top of another, causing a trend that can only be described as a campaign death spiral. Miller's hardcore supporters who view him "very favorably" have held in there, showing a decrease of only 3 percent since Oct. 6, but his "somewhat favorable" rating went from 20 percent to 9 percent in that time. Miller's "somewhat unfavorable" rating dipped from 13 percent to 8 percent, underscoring the voter stampede toward "very unfavorable" which skyrocketed from 38 percent to 60 percent in less than three weeks.

Whoo Hoo! Is it possible that Alaskans have FINALLY wised up and decided to stop voting Republican regardless of how fucked up the candidate is, and to start using their brains for a change?  I mean is it finally time for me to be proud of my state for their political integrity?

Can I?  Can I please?

P.S. For those of you who did not check out my Twitter feed, yes I am finally in Washington DC.  And it is AWESOME!! In fact I already met a fellow rally participant.

Is this Joe Miller's new ad? You have GOT to be kidding me!

Three questions:

  • Was this ad put together by grade school children?
  • Has Christine O'Donnell seen this?
  • Am I high right now?
I understand that Miller and his campaign might be having a very visible nervous breakdown, but surely there was somebody on staff who could see how completely childish and pathetic this ad would look to the Alaska voters.  Wasn't there?

I guess not.

Don't forget to vote for the grown up Alaska!  Because lord knows we need one!

Somebody might need to tell Joe the Teabagger that his plans for rejecting Federal dollars in favor of the "vast wealth beneath our feet" might be even more ignorant than we all thought.

From CNN:

The U.S. Geological Survey says a revised estimate for the amount of conventional, undiscovered oil in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska is a fraction of a previous estimate.

The group estimates about 896 million barrels of such oil are in the reserve, about 90 percent less than a 2002 estimate of 10.6 billion barrels.

The new estimate is mainly due to the incorporation of new data from recent exploration drilling revealing gas occurrence rather than oil in much of the area, the geological survey said.

"These new findings underscore the challenge of predicting whether oil or gas will be found in frontier areas," USGS Director Dr. Marcia McNutt said in a statement. "It is important to re-evaluate the petroleum potential of an area as new data becomes available."

The organization also estimates 8 trillion cubic feet less gas than a 2002 estimate of 61 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered, conventional, non-associated gas -- meaning gas found in discrete accumulations with little to no crude oil in the reservoir.

Whoops!  Don't you just hate in when your poorly researched and fantasy based ideas for moving the state away from the Obama socialist Federal money turns out to be nothing more than an AIP endorsed wet dream?

"There's a hell of a lot less what?"

So Mr. "We don't need no stinking Federal dollars," what's plan B?

Do you still need more motivation to get out and vote? Perhaps this video from MoveOn.org will be the wake up call that you need.

By the way just in case you worry that I might miss the opportunity to vote while I am off gallivanting around Washington D.C., don't be!

Number one, I don't gallivant!  And number two, I voted last week.

You see I take my responsibility to cast my vote very seriously.

So do the Religious Right, the Republicans, and the Teabaggers.

The only question left to ask, is do YOU?

If the Tea Party wins, America loses! Keith Olbermann's special, and very timely, comment.

If you are planning to vote, you need to watch this.

If you are NOT planning to vote, you need to watch this TWICE!

Sarah Palin takes time out of her busy schedule of embarrassing Alaskans to attempt to rescue Joe the Teabagger's floundering campaign. Oh yeah, like THAT will help!

The Queen of Mean is really abusing those Balackberries of hers in response to the bad press that her butt-boy has been receiving lately.

She posted this about 6 hours ago.

Who's the real Joe Miller? Media obviously ignores GOP nominee's winning record, message & plan for AK to favor their Leftwinger chosen one
about 6 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

And then almost simultaneously decided to let her followers know that both she, and the lady who starred in the television show that completely misrepresented our state BEFORE Palin took it to a whole new level, will be coming to Anchorage to try and breathe new life into Miller's badly wounded campaign.

Who's the real Joe Miller?Janine Turner & I provide Northern Exposure tomorrow night @ Anchorage rally 2 expose truth & "refudiate" the bull
about 6 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

By the way what is this about the "media obviously ignores GOP nominee's winning record?"

Do you mean the record of him losing his 2004 campaign for the Legislature?

Or do you mean the record of his failed attempt to block the Troopergate investigation?

Or might you mean Miller's failed attempt to oust Rudy Reuderich while misusing North Star Borough computers?

Just what is this "winning record" that the media is so obviously missing?

And as for the idea that anybody needs to "refudiate" the bull, well lady the only "bull" that has been thrown around when it comes to the Miller campaign, are the huge truckloads of shit beneath which he has tried to hide his criminal and unethical past.

Let's face it Sarah.  Your political boy toy might possibly be an even bigger disaster than you were.  I know that you cannot admit a mistake but at this point even you must know that this endorsement might destroy the very last scrap of credibility that you had left.

I guess Joe Miller is not the ONLY one having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Joe Miller's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week continues.

The Alaska Dispatch (The bane of Joe Miller's existence) has all that you need to know about Miller's personnel file.  I would cut and paste it here, but they did such a good job that I will simply post the link, and encourage you to head on over there for the 411 on this guy's unethical and bizarre behaviors while working with the North Star Borough in Fairbanks.

However I will post what might possibly be the most damning portion, just because I find it so incredibly juicy:

Miller's scheme was revealed by his own attempts to cover his tracks. When he erased each computer's cache he also erased important passwords and IDs that the other attorneys needed to access legal research websites. Miller's co-workers knew something was wrong when they couldn't log on after lunch.

In the short span of time the employees were trying to get to the bottom of what had happened, Miller lied no less than four times:

--He told them he'd had to use another computer because he couldn't access the website he needed to get to on his.
--He claimed he had to clear the cache or the website might block his access.
--He initially denied being on more than one computer
--And he claimed he was visiting a professor's website at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Just imagine if you were looking to hire somebody, and read THAT on their resume.  Would you give them the job?

Wickersham's Conscience also has a very interesting take on the revelations.

For those who have not had a chance to read the documents for yourself the ADN makes them very accessible to the public.

Not only is Miller having the week from hell, but those associated with him are having their own problems.

Commanders at Fort Richardson, Alaska are investigating two soldiers who were involved in a highly publicized altercation with a reporter at an event for Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller, a base spokesman said.

I imagine that as the rest of the week unfolds the bad news for Joe Miller will keep right on coming. I just hope I can keep up with it all as I am winging my way to D.C.!

Obviously Miller has become so overwhelmed by the constant flood of bad press that he has broken down and called on the Grizzled Mama herself to help him out of the jam:

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and other big names in the GOP will appear with U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller of Alaska at a free public event Thursday at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage.

A Miller campaign worker confirmed to Alaska Dispatch the event starts at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event will include appearances via video from 2008 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, and South Carolina's Sen. Jim DeMint, the campaign worker said.

The Twitter Quitter, the bat-shit crazy lady from Minnesota, AND the guy who wants to look into the bedrooms of school teacher's are now rushing to show their support to help Joe Miller?

Damn, exactly WHICH Alaskan voters does Miller believe this terrible trio will convince to vote for him?  I thought the wingnuts and lunatics were ALREADY in his corner!

Rachel Maddow films her show in Alaska and I get to sit in the audience. Please do not pinch me, because if this is a dream, I don't want to wake up!

Here is the show's opening.  The bar is called the "Taproot" on Spenard road.

Directly behind Rachel on the left you can see Jeanne Devon (Mudflats), Linda Kellen Biegel is also there (Celtic Diva). I am directly behind Rachel's head and you will see me intermittently.  Shannyn Moore of course was interviewed by Maddow, and that video is embedded below.

Much of the show focuses on Rachel's difficulty getting an interview with Joe Miller, and of course how awkwardly it went when she finally did get it, but she also interviewed both Lisa Murkowski and Scott McAdams. Here is the segment that contains those interviews, and here is an additional piece where Rachel visits McAdams campaign headquarters.

In this segment Rachel interviews one of the great Alaskans who crafted our constitution, Vic Fisher, and Shannyn Moore.

I love that Vic Fisher reminds the viewers that the constitution is a "framework for the future" and was never meant, either the Alaskan or American version, to be "static and forgotten forever."  Quick somebody show this to Joe Miller, THEN he might know what in the hell he is talking about! Or better yet make him talk to Vic, like Rachel pointed out, he is still right here to explain to people if they don't get it!

Here Rachel arrives in Alaska and meets Tank Jones. (Yes I talked to Tank last night, but he asked me not to blog about it, so I won't.)  In this segment Maddow has a very informative conversation with Miller supporters, and learns how uneducated they are about the issues that they claim to be so upset about.

And finally here is the "interview on the run" that Rachel was finally able to get with Miller.  Go ahead and try to make sense of his answers to Rachel's questions about gay rights, I double dog dare you.

What a rude vaguely bearded prick! Personally I am embarrassed that Rachel had to see that side of Alaska.  Miller and his followers represent the very worst of us, and it is with great shame that I watch how he treated somebody who I respect a great deal on national television.

As I mentioned in the comments section earlier, I DID get a chance to meet and talk to Rachel briefly at the Dena'ina Center right before she interviewed Miller.

I believe this picture was taken right at the moment that she told me that she has been reading my blog. Yeah, I was pretty stunned as well!

I don't believe I have the words to describe how cool yesterday was for me.  Essentially it rocked!

I thought the highlight of my week, hell my month, would be attending the "Rally to Restore Sanity" in Washington, now I am not so sure.  Jon and Stephen are going to really have to pull out teh stops in order to beat my amazing day watching the filming of the "Rachel Maddow Show" and meeting her face to face.

Joe Miller records released! Contain admission that he lied! Update!

From the ADN:

"I lied about accessing all of the computers. I then admitted about accessing the computers, but lied about what I was doing. Finally, I admitted what I did," Miller wrote in a March 17, 2008, e-mail to Fairbanks North Star Borough Attorney Rene Broker.

Miller's admission said he went on three of his co-workers' computers to participate in a political poll and then cleared the caches. "I now understand that clearing the cache also cleared out passwords and ID's for various websites that people were using and was very hurtful (as was the simple fact that I was on their computers)," he wrote.

"As I told you on Wednesday, I acknowledge that my access to others' computers was wrong, participating in the poll was wrong, lying was wrong, and there is absolutely no excuse for any of it," he wrote.

Okay so he lied, then he told the truth, then he lied, then he told the truth, and then was made to apologize for what he did in the first place?  Is this a Senate candidate or a five year old child?

You know usually Senators start off fairly ethic and then are corrupted by the power and influence of lobbyist money they find there.  But Joe Miller comes pre-corrupted and we already KNOW how unethical and untrustworthy he will be.

Somehow I don't see that as a good thing.

Update: Now I would like somebody to ask Miller about his military career and the circumstances surrounding his disharge. And while they are at it perhaps they can ask him about this memo that was found on the Fairbanks Newsminer website as well:

BTW this is the website for Magellan Health Services.  They specialize in PTSD. Now isn't THAT interesting?

Update 2: Alaska Dispatch has what looks like ALL of the personnel documents here.  It is late and I don't have time to go through them all right now, but what I have read so far offers a very interesting look into Miller's personality.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

Uh oh! It looks like somebody is about to get a poorly spelled, yet vaguely threatening e-mail from Todd Palin!

Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

Sen. John McCain is calling Sarah Palin an "outstanding candidate" for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, but says it's too early to endorse her.

McCain told CBS's "The Early Show" Tuesday that "I don't think Sarah would want me to, before she's even able to make a decision" about running. (Oh yes she would! Who is this old fart trying to fool?)

Too late Dr. Frankenstein!  You created the monster and now you are forever tied to the monster.

Damn!  McCain has done such a complete 180 I am surprised his seventy four year old back did not snap under the strain!  I wonder if when he looks in the mirror he hates himself as much as many of his constituents in Arizona have come to hate him?

But of all of the slimy, underhanded things that John McCain has done in his political career, inflicting Sarah Palin on the voters of America will be the one that will forever damn him the most.

Rand Paul cannot bring himself to condemn head stomping by one of his supporters.

Look you little weasel this is not exactly brain surgery.

Here let me help you, this is what you need to say:

"If you are one of my supporters DON'T FUCKING STOMP ON ANYBODY'S HEAD!"

There now was THAT so hard?

What kind of pansy ass cannot even stand up to his own people and demand that they not injure people on his behalf?

And color me surprised, I did not even know that Joe Miller was renting his "Drop Zone" goon squad to Rand Paul.

So guess who is going to see Rachel Maddow tonight?

Photo borrowed from Mudflats
Yep, I am one of the lucky few to get a ticket to the big show tonight, and I have to admit I am pretty jazzed.

As most of you are no doubt aware I have been HUGE fan of Maddow's since I first saw her making appearances on MSNBC.

And why wouldn't I be? She is BRILLIANT, and has the best research staff on the planet!

Anyhow when you watch the show tonight, and hear a voice saying "I can't believe I am here!  I am so excited!  Did she just look at me? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!" THAT is not me.  I am sooo MUCH cooler than that.

I will try to get pictures and post them tomorrow, but I make no promises.  I suck as a photographer and they will probably all be of my thumb, or out of focus, or of the inside of my jacket pocket.  But I will try.

Oh and while we are on the subject of television shows I guess you might all be interested to know that the BBC were here at my house yesterday to interview me. The piece was about Sarah Palin and the midterm elections and, according to the producer, will be broadcast this Friday night on BBC World News America.

I am not sure how I did (I hate being on television!), but you can all judge for yourselves this Friday if you are fortunate enough get the BBC on your telly.

It will be online as well and they are sending me a link.  However I will be in Washington and I am not sure if I will have the time to post it. Or, if after I see the interview, I will even want to post it.

Anyhow stay tuned because this is going to be a busy week, and I am sure to get into trouble at least a few times before the weekend.  You know how I am.

More of last night's DWTS.

Here is the full clip of Bristol and Mark's performance.

And here is the dance marathon portion.

That was actually kind of fun to watch.

Just when you thought there was no more room in Joe Miller's closet for any more skeletons, here comes another one! And hey, this one brought a "mystery hideaway" with him!

So hey, you know how you are supposed to claim ALL of your property and assets on the Senate financial disclosure statements when you decide to run for the Senate?  Yeah? Well guess who didn't do that?

Apparently Joe "Quit staring at my beard, it is the best I can do!" Miller owns a two story house on 40 acres of land near Willow.  But don't worry, no harm done because the land is not EXACTLY in his name.  Can you say "legal loophole?"

Courtesy of the Alaska Dispatch:

The land was purchased in 1996. Former owner Arnie Hcrnir said he gave in to a low-ball offer from Miller because he really needed to sell. Hcrnir didn't say how much Miller paid, but land in the Willow area was going cheap at the time.

Miller had been working for a year or so as an attorney at an Anchorage law firm, although in 1995 he'd signed a sworn statement that he was indigent. That claim allowed him to save $50 on a state hunting and fishing license; he got a license reserved for the poor for only $5.

Before purchasing the cabin, he and his wife, Kathleen, began work on a costly addition to their Anchorage home that more than doubled the assessed value of what had been a $93,100 house. And shortly after that, the Millers went shopping for their out-of-town hideaway.

In the summer of 1996, Miller found Hrncir who'd built a solid cabin back in the woods a couple miles off the George Parks Highway in the area of Caswell Lakes. Hrncir did not remember Miller by name when contacted by the Alaska Dispatch earlier this month, but he did well recall selling the property to a "young Anchorage lawyer." Hrncir said he met the attorney in an Anchorage Denny's Restaurant -- Miller was working as a lawyer in the city at the time -- to sign the papers closing the deal.
But Miller's name does not appear on the deed registered with the state.

On paper, the land Hrncir sold to Miller is in the name of "Bobbi Reed,'' trustee for The Wilmington Trust. Reed is an old friend of Miller's wife, Kathleen.

Reed lives in Anchorage, but tax statements are sent to her at an address in Fairbanks. The address is the post office box for the Law Offices of Joseph W. Miller.

Okay so the property is in a trust?  And who are the beneficiaries?

When he took a job as a state magistrate in the late 1990s, he filed an Alaska Public Offices Commission report that listed the owners of the property as three of his children and their interest in the property as a "trust.''

Oh!  So the trust names the Miller children as the owners of the property and this nice lady, Bobbi Reed, manages the trust for the kids.  Well that is very kind of her.

Reed said she knows nothing about a trust even though she is named as trustee.

Wait, what?

Asked where The Wilmington Trust was registered, Reed said, "I don't have a clue.''

Now let me get this straight, there is a trust set up for the kids, and this lady is named as trustee, but she know NOTHING about any trust? Well you all know what we are about to learn next don't you?

Alaska Dispatch could find no record of The Wilmington Trust..

Go ahead, raise your hand if you saw THAT coming! Alright, alright put your hands down, and stop looking so smug!

Okay you saw THAT coming, but did you see THIS coming?

The story Hrncir tells about the land deal with Miller doesn't exactly paint a flattering picture of the candidate. The year was 1996, Hrncir said, and the economy in the area just north of Willow -- once the site of a proposed new state capital -- was going in the tank. Everyone was broke and getting out or already gone.

Hcrnir finally decided to put the place up for sale in an Anchorage newspaper. Not long after, the Anchorage attorney, his wife and several of their kids came by. "He knew I wanted to sell bad,'' Hcrnir said. "He made me one of those 'offer's good only until the sun goes down' deals.'"

Hcrnir didn't really want to sell for the cut-rate price being offered, but he felt that he had to. And he perfectly understood the low-ball offer; business is business.

What followed wasn't, at least not by Alaska standards. The deal was made in Willow, Hcrnir said, but he met Miller in Anchorage at the Denny's on Dimond Boulevard to sign the papers to close the sale. Up to that point, Hcrnir said, he'd always found the Anchorage lawyer a friendly guy. That changed the second the legal documents were inked.

Hcrnir told Miller he planned to go back to Caswell to get the last of the family's stuff out of the cabin, including the generator Hcrnir had said all along he planned to take with him. Miller told Hrncir that he was to stay off the property.

"He schemed me out of that,'' Hcrnir said. "He pulled out a paper and said it said (sold) 'where is, as is.' Legally he was right, (but) he went from a friend to a legal counsel in a minute.''

And that my fellow Alaskans is the guy who wants us to trust him to represent the people of our fair state.

Personally I would not trust this son-of-a-bitch as far as I could throw him. (Gee I wonder how far that would be?)

Believe it or not, there is even MORE truly disgusting things revealed about Joe Miller and his "mystery hideaway" in the Alaska Dispatch article.  If you think you can handle any more of Miller's less than ethical business dealings feel free to read more. Me, I think I need to take a shower.

Is it Monday already?

You know if they had bound up the levees as tightly as Bristol is strapped in New Orleans would have stayed high and dry.

What did you all think?

Christine O'Donnell blames God for her decision to run. God's spokesperson says HE has no idea what that crazy witch is talking about!

According to this interview O'Donnell claims to have undergone a "complete dying of self" which I guess proves she is not a witch. She is a ghost!

Is anybody else starting to believe this ENTIRE campaign is some giant practical joke on the people of Delaware, Sarah Palin, and Fox News?  I keep expecting that, at any moment, she will reach up and tear off her wig, revealing herself to be Ashton Kutchner who will then announce a brand new season of "Punk'd."

Yeah go ahead and laugh, but would that really be any more bizarre than the things we have actually seen and heard coming out of this whackjob's mouth?

BTW, people can pray for this campaign until the cows come home, but it would be like giving mouth to mouth resuscitation to a three day old corpse.  Ain't nothing bringing that stiff back to life!

(Did you like how I kept a sort of Halloween theme running through this post? That is because I am a giver.  And you are welcome. BOO!)

Wow! The Grizzled Mama did NOT like how the Alaska Senate debate went last night!

From the quitter's twitter:

Most appalling US Senate debate comments I've ever heard were spewed last night in Alaska.Lisa's horrific attack on Miller's military honor
about 3 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

"Oh my God, Oh my God!  Did you see how mean they were to Joey?  Don't they know I picked him special to be the red, white, and blue draped, Constitutional luvvin', Senator from Sarah Palin's Alaska? How dare that "Daddy's girl' ask him about his past. Just like me, and all of those who like to teabag, we don't feel we should have to talk about our past!  What's done, and carefully covered up, is done don'tcha know?"

The portions of the debate that seems to have gotten under Palin's skin, and turned Miller's face red during the debate, were the questions from Murkowski asking Miller how, considering his unethical behavior while working as a lawyer at the North Star Borough in Fairbanks and the "lies" he has told about her, his fellow West Point graduates would feel about how well he represents their values.

Yep, that one drew blood.

However as this vidoe from CNN shows Teabagger Joe was not exactly pulling his punches either.

(BTW that bizarre caterwauling you hear after Murkowski makes the case that McAdams was not ready and Miller was not fit for the job, were ALL Miller supporters. They were very, very unhappy that Murkowski dared to say on television what most of us have already figured out about the "vaguely bearded one" for ourselves.)

In my opinion, from my vantage point right behind Murkowski in the audience, Miller and Lisa ripped each other to shreds leaving McAdams looking like the only grown up in the race.

P.S. If you want to watch the entire debate from start to finish you can view it right here.

Even as staunch of a conservative as ex-Nixon speechwriter Ben Stein cannot stomach Joe Miller's brand of politics.

Now much of this must be taken with a grain of salt, because Stein is clearly a Murkowski supporter, however he does make some very valid points.

From the Alaska Dispatch:

The GOP candidate for (much too) high office in Alaska, Joe Miller, who beat the redoubtable GOP stalwart, Lisa Murkowski, in the primary, with major Tea Party help, is a bit reminiscent of Willy Stark. Only stupid.

Joe Miller supposedly is a graduate of Yale Law School, as I am, and I never knew one stupid person at Yale Law, which makes me wonder if Mr. Miller really went there. A Yale Law grad would not have security guards who would for a moment consider "arresting" and handcuffing a member of the Alaska press, Tony Hopfinger, who had the audacity to ask questions about Miller's past transgressions involving computer stuffing of a polling place in an unofficial GOP poll.

A Yale Law grad, especially one supported by the Tea Party, which is all about curbing abuses of power by the government, would not even think of taking away the reporter's video camera, as Miller's guards did. That's what stupid people do. Maybe I am wrong and he somehow slipped through the Ivied doors when they weren't looking. Maybe Miller thinks he is boss of some kind of third world country and his mirrored sunglass-wearing Tontons Macoutes can just bully anyone who gets in his way.

That is not what the Tea Party is all about. It is certainly not what the GOP is about. It isn't even what the Democratic Party is about.

Can you imagine a statewide official doing this or allowing his guards to do this -- and not then sending out a full throated apology? Yet Miller is accusing the reporter of assaulting his guards, who, as apparently seen by witnesses, surrounded Hopfinger and menaced him, and then cuffed him when he tried to escape. How stupid can a candidate be? How can this be happening?

As you can probably imagine Stein, a man of Jewish descent, was especially appalled at Miller's reference to East Germany's success at curbing the flow of immigration as a model for the U.S. borders.

It gets a lot worse. When asked how the USA could seal the border with Mexico, Miller, astonishingly, gave as an example of effective border closure the regime of Communist East Germany. That border sealing involved shooting or blowing up with mines or electrocuting potential border crossers. Can a GOP candidate actually be suggesting such brutal means of border control -- which took the lives of hundreds of East Germans seeking freedom -- as a model for the United States?

Yes, he can and he did.

If you visit the Dispatch you can read the rest of Stein's condemnation, which is followed by a call to write in Lisa Murkowsi.  Of course we all know there is a much better choice than the Senator who has rented her Senate vote to big energy companies time and time again.

(I don't know about the rest of you but I could not read Ben Stein's words without imagining that voice of his calling out to the shadowy Senate candidate, "Miller...Miller...Miller)

While I am on the subject of Joe "The Berlin Wall was keen!" Miller, I thought I would share with you a portion of an e-mail that was sent to me just today from somebody who was very curious about Joey's military discharge papers.

My brother is back in the US and called tonight; I sent him the link to the DD214 for him to look at (he was on a military computer while gone; not smart to be looking at it then, likely). Based on his 30 years of hiring or not hiring people in his military unit he deemed it "definitely covering up something". Said he'd checked with a protocols person and yes, the "unqualified resignation" is a category used to get rid of someone or used when someone is forced out, something used, "usually at the higher levels to keep someone, usually an officer, from facing embarrassment, either at the time of discharge or later".

I asked about the list of achievements, etc, and he said there is nothing there that isn't either the result of a training, most required but possibly one or two elective, or they are the automatic result of what the UNIT (not necessarily an individual) did in the way of military duties. There is nothing, according to him, that wasn't completely triggered by the "usual activities of being a minor officer on duty during a conflict".

Which brings up another thing; he questioned why Miller had advanced no higher in at least the 3 years he was in active duty; said "something's wrong there."

He said there is definitely enough there to warrant suspicion, just on that one document, that something was "seriously wrong with Mr Miller or his performance". When I asked about the "serious disability" Miller himself mentioned, he said that if it had a military cause it was likely in one way or another either a cover for "sexual preference issues" or psychological issues, being as the man shows no sign of physical ailments. He suggested that one of those might be behind the 'unqualified resignation" code.

Now granted this is not definitive, but from somebody with 30 years of experience examining discharge papers, it is still a very interesting take on the reasons WHY Miller's active duty service may have been cut short, and what that might say about his personality and his ability to perform the duties of the job that he is seeking.

Along those same lines I sat in the audience at last night's debate and closely watched Miller's face when he was called out on some of his more outrageous statements, as well as his unethical politicking with North Star Borough computers in Fairbanks, and I could see his jaw tighten in anger numerous times, as his body literally stiffened up in barely restrained rage at being confronted with his own behaviors and remarks.

My feeling while watching him is that he is a powder keg just waiting for his fuse to be lit.  My only question is how much damage can somebody like that do with Senatorial power at his disposal?

Tired of political ads? Who isn't? But some are actually pretty fun to watch. Here is an example.

This "Glee" themed ad comes from Illinois Governor Pat Quinn who is in a neck and neck battle with local Teabagger Bill Brady for re-election.

You have to admit that was very imaginitive, and pretty entertaining to watch as well.

Sarah Palin heads to Florida to pimp her show and slam the hardest working President in history.

From TPM:

Playing up the country's economic woes, especially at the level of the "little guy" ordinary citizen, Palin said Obama and the Democrat leaders "have created for us a blueprint of things that don't work in this country".

Blasting Obama's healthcare overhaul and economic stimulus spending, she said America wanted "a fiscally and physically secure nation" and said the president should apologize for millions of Americans who were out of work.

You know if we are going to start demanding that politicians apologize for disappointing their constituents I know of quite a large number of Alaskans who would love to receive an apology from Sarah Palin for being an unethical megalomaniac, who rarely showed up to do her job, and quit as soon as people started holding her accountable for her actions. (Which, by the way, she asked them to do.)

Not only that but somebody needs to inform the Grizzled Mama that the job loss which she is attempting to lay at Obama's feet is in actuality the result of eight years of George Bush's broken policies which caused the job market to start hemorrhaging at the end of 2008, causing an arterial spray of job losses that President Obama is STILL trying to staunch.

Of course Caribou Barbie has never let a little thing like facts get in her way, now has she?

At the beginning of her speech, Palin suggested Floridians watch her upcoming "docu-series" reality show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska", which will debut next month and focus on the northern state's outdoor attractions. (Ka-ching!  Gotta get that money making plug in!)

"You're lucky, you're going to get to learn a little bit more about my state here in the coming weeks," she said. (I wish that TLC would provide a disclaimer that read "Please do NOT judge Alaska by ANYTHING that you see or hear on this program!" The ONLY thing I believe anybody will learn from this show is how clear it is that Sarah Palin has NEVER participated in any of these activities before.)

In a joking reference, she predicted defeat for Obama in the 2012 presidential election, saying her TV show would be followed by a sequel called "Barack Obama's Golf Courses", which she said would start up "sometime November 2012".

That last "joke" is the very essence of Sarah Palin.  The nasty middle school mean girl who never lets a perceived slight go by without a vicious counterattack.  And now we see that same attitude cropping up all over the country with the Teabagger candidates, from the emasculating language of Sharron Angle, to the out and out bullying of journalists by Joe Miller.  It seems that Palin has infected the entire right wing with a case of the "nasties!"

As for her, it is crystal clear that Palin is STILL royally pissed off about HER defeat during the 2008 election.

No I did not say that wrong! Even though technically it was John McCain at the top of the ticket, there is little doubt that Sarah considers that election as having been stolen from HER. McCain was just incidental in her master plan, until that black guy screwed the whole thing up!

You know usually I am not somebody who supports the idea of letting the Republicans nominate Palin as their candidate for President (I just don't want her to EVER get that close to the office), but I have to admit that there is a part of me that would love to see her face on election night 2012, right after she gets her ass handed to her AGAIN by the man that she clearly despises most in all of the world.

In fact THAT might just be enough to make her slink off into the wilds of Wasilla and spend the rest of her life sticking pins in her Barack Obama voodoo doll while whispering to herself that they "won't have Sarah Palin to kick around anymore."

And won't the world be a much saner and positive place on the day THAT finally happens?

Shannyn Moore interviews Tony Hopfinger, the guy Joe Miller's goons handcuffed last Sunday, on "Moore Up North."

Joe Miller lied to both CNN reporter John King and his own father about accessing borough computers on his lunch hour. He did not have a lunch hour! Update!

From the Alaska Dispatch:
When CNN host John King asked Miller on Monday if it was fair for the public "to look at your history as a taxpayer-paid attorney, anything and everything you did, while you were on a public payroll as a public servant," Miller responded: "Well, the event in question is something that happened on my time off. So it was during the lunch hour. So, frankly, there is not a direct correlation to that."

But Miller didn't have a lunch hour.

Miller's routine at the Fairbanks North Star Borough, where he worked as a part-time attorney, was to work the afternoon shift, from about 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., said Sallie Stuvek, the borough's human resources director.

"We don't provide lunch hours unless somebody works five or more hours per day," she said.
A review of Miller's e-mail traffic, obtained by Alaska Dispatch, reinforces Stuvek's assessment of Miller's schedule. Most outgoing e-mails sent from his borough e-mail account routinely occured in the afternoon.

At the time the computer incident took place, Miller and another part-time attorney shared an office and the other attorney worked a morning shift, from 8 a.m. to noon, Stuvek said. The goal was to avoid staff overlapping hours. From noon to 1 p.m., most of the legal department is out for lunch and offices are locked, she said.

So now I think I am beginning to understand why Miller is so freaked out about the public seeing his personnel records.  He was using those computers when most of the legal team, of which he was a part, were out of the building having lunch.  If what he did was "petty" why did he not want any of the other legal staff to see him doing it?

Jill Burke wonders the same thing.

Why would Miller come in to work early only to take a lunch break? (The first e-mail sent from his borough e-mail account March 12 doesn't occur until 12:41 p.m..) Why couldn't he have worked on the political activities from the non-borough computer at which he was presumably working earlier in the day? What, exactly, did he do? How far was he willing to go -- breaking borough ethics policies -- to get what he wanted in a heated political battle? If it's truly not a big deal, why not just let Alaskans know about it and allow them to decide for themselves what, if anything, it means?

The Miller campaign didn't respond to questions.

Obviously Miller knew that what he was doing was wrong, and possibly illegal, or else why lie to his own father about it? And remember he also confessed to his dad that "He emptied the cache files on the computers so the users wouldn’t know what he had done." That is not a thing that somebody with a clear conscious would even think to do. Miller knew what he was doing was wrong, and even then was worried about getting caught.

I believe it should be clear to everybody in our state that we need to see Miller's personnel file just as soon as possible!  And if you are a registered voter who was thinking of staying home on November 2nd, what more do you need to know about this guy to get you up of your ass and vote to keep him out of the Senate?

(Huge hat tip to Ella.  Thanks very much for your help!)

Update: It looks like Miller has once again had a reporter mistreated at yet another PUBLIC event. Here is ADN reporter Julia O'Malley's reaction after being summarily ejected from the "Meet and Greet:"

I walked to my car in front of the Indian restaurant next door, and sat in the driver's seat. I hadn't done anything but carry a notebook into the room and the campaign decided I was a threat. I wanted to understand their candidate, but all I got was a door shut in my face.

So now Miller is afraid of  and a clearly non-threatening young woman like Julia O'Malley?  And THIS is the guy who wants to represent the tough, independent people of Alaska in Washington D.C.?

David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK, would like to explain why it is not a bad thing that the Teabaggers are racist. Oh THIS ought to be good!

David Duke carefully explains, for all of those university educated people who do not get their information from the ivy covered halls of Fox News,  that it is perfectly okay that the Teabaggers are a white movement. Just like it is fine that the NAACP is predominantly African American, that a pro-Jewish group are mostly Jewish, and that the Society for the Advancement of Little People has all of those tiny dwarfs as members.

Nobody calls THEM racists! Now do you brown, black, short, Jewish, Asian, female people get it?

The white people in America are being oppressed and treated like...gasp...minorities!  And DD and the Teabaggers are standing up for their lily white right to marginalize other ethnic groups and demand the lion's share of the power and prosperity that this country has to offer.  How can THAT be considered racist?

Did you know that Thomas Jefferson has many of his writings censored just like, wait for it, David Duke? Clearly they should be seen as equals.

Duke goes on to explain the Teabagger's racism by saying that it is perfectly okay because our founding fathers were ALSO racists. See? That totally makes it alright!

Heaven forbid we should learn to be more tolerant and accepting then the less educated and primitive people who came before us.

(Did Duke put Sarah Palin in the same company as President Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden at 6:40?  Oh THAT could come back and bite him in the ass!)

So to sum up.  The founding fathers hated minorities.  They wrote the Constitution. Teabaggers love the Constitution like crazy!  (But not enough to read it) So the Teabaggers should be allowed to hate minorities! Case closed!

Wow! The Teabaggers really owe David Duke a huge debt of gratitude for finally explaining their movement, and why it should be embraced by every ethnically pure, Aryan in America.

Remember, if you ain't white, you ain't right!

(You should also read Wonkette's take on this video.)

P.S. Did anybody else notice that Duke had the same "vaguely bearded" look that Joe Miller sports up here in Alaska?  Coincidence?  I wonder if Duke would also embrace the East Germany approach to border security that Miller espouses?

Miller Denied! Judge rules that candidate MUST release his personnel file by Tuesday.

From the ADN:

In an unusual Saturday hearing, retired Superior Court Judge Winston Burbank ruled that the public's right to know about candidates outweighed Miller's right to privacy.

Burbank ordered no release until Tuesday afternoon, however, to allow for the decision to be appealed to the Alaska Supreme Court.

The judge said at least some documents being sought would not be released, and some would be redacted.

The case was brought by a group of Alaska news media organizations, who have been trying since summer to see borough documents concerning Miller's employment as a part-time borough attorney.

Miller, the Republican nominee for Senate in a tight three-way race, fought the lawsuit, arguing that any release of personnel records violated his privacy rights.

Miller's lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, said after the ruling that he was unsure whether it would be appealed.

Sweet!  Perhaps finally we will learn just what is in this personnel file that has Joe Miller is a state of panic.

Here is a video of an interview with Jim Whitaker, the ex-mayor of the Fairbanks North Star Borough, that might give you some idea as to just why Miller is working so hard to keep the public from gaining access to this file. (H/T to Progressive Alaska.)

Eight false things the public "knows" prior to election day.

This was brilliantly written by Dave Johnson:.

I believe it is something we all should see so I reposted it here.

There are a number things the public "knows" as we head into the election that are just false. If people elect leaders based on false information, the things those leaders do in office will not be what the public expects or needs.

Here are eight of the biggest myths that are out there:

1) President Obama tripled the deficit.

Reality: Bush's last budget had a $1.416 trillion deficit. Obama's first reduced that to $1.29 trillion.

2) President Obama raised taxes, which hurt the economy.

Reality: Obama cut taxes. 40% of the "stimulus" was wasted on tax cuts which only create debt, which is why it was so much less effective than it could have been.

3) President Obama bailed out the banks.

Reality: While many people conflate the "stimulus" with the bank bailouts, the bank bailouts were requested by President Bush and his Treasury Secretary, former Goldman Sachs CEO Henry Paulson. (Paulson also wanted the bailouts to be "non-reviewable by any court or any agency.") The bailouts passed and began before the 2008 election of President Obama.

4) The stimulus didn't work.

Reality: The stimulus worked, but was not enough. In fact, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the stimulus raised employment by between 1.4 million and 3.3 million jobs.

5) Businesses will hire if they get tax cuts.

Reality: A business hires the right number of employees to meet demand. Having extra cash does not cause a business to hire, but a business that has a demand for what it does will find the money to hire. Businesses want customers, not tax cuts.

6) Health care reform costs $1 trillion.

Reality: The health care reform reduces government deficits by $138 billion.

7) Social Security is a Ponzi scheme, is "going broke," people live longer, fewer workers per retiree, etc.

Reality: Social Security has run a surplus since it began, has a trust fund in the trillions, is completely sound for at least 25 more years and cannot legally borrow so cannot contribute to the deficit (compare that to the military budget!) Life expectancy is only longer because fewer babies die; people who reach 65 live about the same number of years as they used to.

8) Government spending takes money out of the economy.

Reality: Government is We, the People and the money it spends is on We, the People. Many people do not know that it is government that builds the roads, airports, ports, courts, schools and other things that are the soil in which business thrives. Many people think that all government spending is on "welfare" and "foreign aid" when that is only a small part of the government's budget.

This stuff really matters.

If the public votes in a new Congress because a majority of voters think this one tripled the deficit, and as a result the new people follow the policies that actually tripled the deficit, the country could go broke.

If the public votes in a new Congress that rejects the idea of helping to create demand in the economy because they think it didn't work, then the new Congress could do things that cause a depression.

If the public votes in a new Congress because they think the health care reform will increase the deficit when it is actually projected to reduce the deficit, then the new Congress could repeal health care reform and thereby make the deficit worse. And on it goes.

If you have friends and family who seem confused by the issues please have them read this.

Remember we are battling back against the flood of false information being disseminated by Fox News and the Republican party, and all we have on our side is the truth.  Hopefully if enough people are exposed to it, this election will turn out substantially different than Sarah Palin, the teabaggers, and Rupert Murdoch have anticipated.
