John Oliver's Last Week Tonight created a supercut of premature declarations about the "end of Obamacare." It's a telling look at the manner in which political promises fuse with the news cycle to exaggerate reality.
Vox goes on to lay out a roster of false predictions since 2010.
I don't know about everybody else but I found watching that video, and knowing how things have turned out, to be incredibly satisfying.
I think moving forward I will simply respond to every prediction made by a conservative with a hearty shout of "Bullshit!"
Should be easy since I have essentially been doing that for the last ten years already.
Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Apparently trapped by self delusion Sarah Palin continues to pander for donations based on what she refers to as the "success of SarahPAC."
If you give me money, I'll show you my ass. |
Dear Friends,
YOU are the success of SarahPAC! Thanks to your support, SarahPAC has grown to become one of the strongest forces within conservative politics. ( "One of the strongest forces within conservative politics?" Can you say "Delusional?") Together we are working hard to support and elect conservative leaders who will fight for what's right in America!
You were pivotal in the efforts to reclaim majorities in the U.S. House and Senate. (Yeah way back in 201, before she destroyed her last ounce of credibility.) In a new documentary called "Building America's Future" to be released later this summer, many of the leaders you have helped elect take time to reflect and speak directly to you, SarahPAC supporters. Their testimonies will inspire you to keep the faith and never give up on our country. (And to keep sending Palin money. Must not forget that part.) They thank YOU for influencing national debate and the outcome of crucial elections.
Here Palin asks for supporters to send their e-mail addresses so that they can receive a copy when her self glorifying DVD "Building American's Future" is ready for release. You can see the trailer for it here. Just of her previous movie "Undefeated" now containing updated footage.)
As we look to 2016, your continued support is critical to expanding our majority and electing a conservative President. Just today, SarahPAC donated to 44 strong, courageous conservative candidates (Make note to self to carefully check next SarahPAC filings for these 44 donations.), including the 34 U.S. House members who had to stand against their own leadership to do the will of the people and fight Obamatrade. (How did that work out for them?) With your support, these are the type of bold leaders we will elect in 2016.
It's an honor to be working with you. (She's working with them? Yeah, like the butcher is working with the lambs he slaughter's for their meat.) Thank you, and God bless you and America!
- Sarah Palin
Well you really only have to have one working nostril to detect the stink of desperation emanating from this post. It's pretty overpowering.
I am beginning to think that she must have spent her money unwisely in the past, and really has nothing substantial to show for all of those millions of dollars she earned back in the day.
And now without that steady Fox News paycheck she is scrambling.
So here we have Palin once again begging....begging for more money, and yet not one single word about the fact that she is about to be a grandmother yet again.
Gee one would almost think she was embarrassed by her's daughter's choices or something.
Update: Okay here's a question that suddenly popped into my head after writing this post.
Exactly WHY would SarahPAC donate to 44 candidates in a non-election year?
And the next question is how much could they possibly afford to donate, when we all know that they are taking in less money than they are paying out each quarter?
Either she's lying, or she is giving each of these candidates chump change in order to appear as if she is still a political player.
Did I mention that smell of desperation?
Bristol Palin's latest Instagram photo features her with a gun. Gee, what message should we take from that?
Well as I am sure most of you know, this is an older picture from way back as Bristol is not nearly so skinny these days.
My first take is that it is yet another subliminal message to her critics, like the ones that her mother sends with photos like this.
What is also kind of interesting is the Bible quote that Bristol chose to accompany her photo:
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Proverbs 31:25
What makes that stand out is not so much the quote itself, which is taken out of context, but the fact that the parable from which it is borrowed is entitled :
The Wife of Noble Character
Here are a few stanzas before the section Bristol chose:
11Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.
12She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
The rest of the proverb goes on to describe the wife's dedication to her children, her household, and of course her husband.
Which, considering Bristol's recent difficulties in acquiring a husband, and her current predicament with regard to an impending birth, is a little odd don't you think?
Unless of course it is possible that the good Christian girl was unfamiliar with the proverb and simply chose the quote because it sounded kind of tough.
Nah!

Chris Christie enters the 2016 Republican primary. They're going to need a bigger clown car. Update!
Courtesy of the New York Times:
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, whose meteoric rise as a national Republican in his first term was matched only by his spectacular loss of stature at home in his second, enters the 2016 presidential race on Tuesday morning bearing little resemblance to the candidate he once expected to be.
The economic recovery he promised has turned into a cascade of ugly credit downgrades and anemic job growth. The state pension he vowed to fix has descended into a morass of missed payments and lawsuits. The administration he pledged would be a paragon of ethics has instead conspired to mire an entire town in traffic and the governor’s office in scandal.
Chris Christie joins a field that is already bulging at the seams with 13 candidates.
He also enters the race with the lowest polling numbers from his home state yet. With only 35% of New Jersey registered voters approving of his performance, and 51% disapproving, he comes into the race carrying a huge deficit.
Oh and of course there is also "Bridgegate." (Personally I think that soon the investigation will lead directly to Christie, and won't that make for some interesting questions from the press?)
Christie is even being mocked by the superintendent of the high school where he made his announcement this morning:
Jim O'Neill, the Livingston School District's interim superintendent, has repeatedly criticized Christie in the press since the Tuesday event's location was revealed.
"It is my personal opinion that the governor adopts policies that he believes will serve his political agenda regardless of whether or not they are good or necessary," O'Neill told NJ.com.
Right now I think Chris Christie's chances of winning the Republican nomination are about equal to Donald Trump's.
In other words nonexistent.
Update: It might also be worth noting that the editorial board of the Star-Ledger is now calling Christie a pathological liar.
Gee we know a couple of those, don't we?

Most satisfying end to a Confederate flag parade ever. (Video NSFW due to language.)
Hey look racists can't drive!
I love that the guy narrating this video, who is clearly African American, is at first really irritated by the fact that the police are blocking off the streets for this debacle, and then becomes almost giddy after one truck rear ends another.
"God don't like ugly."
By the way this is in Georgia where my daughter is currently staying for work. I REALLY do not like her being in Georgia.

This Huffington Post article from a retired teacher about teacher evaluations is a must read.
Courtesy of HuffPo:
Ostensibly, the policy of evaluating teachers on their students' performance is designed to improve public schools by holding teachers accountable. However, by refusing to take into account several factors which impede student learning and over which teachers have no control, this policy is, in essence, a punitive measure, a political weapon, a pre-emptive strike against teachers, intended to demoralize and drive them out of the teaching profession.
Moreover, when linked to merit pay, a divide-and-conquer strategy to pit teacher against teacher, this evaluation attempts to destabilize and weaken the National Education Association (NEA), the nation's largest labor union with its three million members, a development not unwelcome to corporate America.
Why has this happened? Connect the dots:
(1) Every year hundreds of billions in federal, state and local tax revenue support America's public schools and their teachers.
(2) How divert those billions into the hands of privatizers, charter schools, and their corporate sponsors?
(3) You've never taught a day in your life, yet you christen yourself an educational "reformer," who concocts an anti-public-school narrative of "school failure" that smears teachers in order to make the public lose confidence in them.
(4) You then ask Bill Gates for seed money and promise him an exclusive multi-billion dollar contract -- with no competitive bidding -- for putting computers in every American classroom.
(5) You then give Pearson Publishing Co. the contract for high-stakes standardized tests so flawed that up to 70% of students will fail them.
(6) You and your fellow "reformers" then fan out across the country to enlist the services of willing governors and legislators by "campaign contributions" to "facilitate" legislation that will give charter schools a semblance of "legality."
(7) You bring in Arne Duncan, President Obama's Education Secretary, for political muscle in imposing standardized testing on all public schools, even though government intrusion in the classroom is forbidden by law. You don't worry about breaking the law because the White House is also on board and calls this "reform."
(8) You double-check with Pearson that the failure rate on these tests will be so high that it will "validate" your claim that public schools and their teachers aren't doing their jobs.
(9) Enter teacher evaluations based on student performance on these rigged tests, and you begin to understand what standardized testing is really about -- providing the "legal" basis for evaluating teachers as the first stage in firing them.
(10) Since 25% of all children in America are below the poverty line, they'll do poorly on these tests as will their schools, which you can then label as "failures," shut down, fire their teachers, break up their union, and re-open as charters.
(11) You don't worry about the corporate media blowing the whistle about what you're doing since, with few exceptions, they're in on the scam.
(12) Although you trumpet "reform," your real agenda is the destruction of public schools and the ultimate privatization of education.
(13) Even now tens of billions in tax revenue are annually diverted to charter schools and private investors, who preside over what they hope will be the Golden Age of charters, the self-styled wave of the future, the Promised Land and long-awaited deliverer of American education as you undermine democracy.
(14) Your mantra for charter schools is "freedom of choice" for parents to send their children to whatever schools they wish. The only problem is that charters are not public, but private schools, a fact you deny, for how else will you get taxpayers to unknowingly finance your scam?
(15) It makes no sense whatsoever that public-school parents must pay for the private-school education of other parents' children! It's not fair, equitable, or even moral, but you don't let that stop you!
I have been making essentially this same argument for over ten years now, though admittedly not quite so eloquently.
This is why I speak out so aggressively against private schools and religious home school programs.
They are not about educating children so much as they are about pushing an ideological agenda and making a profit.
Oh, and of course destroying the public school system in this country.
P.S. By the way this is only a portion of part three of a three part series written by this man, Frank Breslin, part one can be found here and part two is right here.

As of Sunday morning there were 319 fires burning in Alaska.
Here's an #AlaskaDivisionofForestry map of the 319 active fires burning in Alaska as of Sunday morning. pic.twitter.com/zaTodSFEaI
— AK Forestry (@AK_Forestry) June 29, 2015
Courtesy of the Washington Post:Following on a record hot May in which much snow cover melted off early, Alaska saw no less than 152 fires erupt over the weekend of June 21-22. The numbers have only grown further since then, and stood at 319 active fires Sunday, according to the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center, with more than a million acres burned in June alone.
“Given the high number of fires and the personnel assigned to those fires, the state’s firefighting resources are becoming very limited, forcing fire managers to prioritize resources,” noted the state’s Department of Natural Resources Tuesday. The preparedness level at the moment for the state is 5, meaning that “resistance to control is high to extreme and resistance to extinguishment is high.”
This last may was the hottest may in 91 years.
But remember climate change is a myth, and even if it was true it certainly is not due to man's careless stewardship of this planet.

Radar Online calls bullshit on Bristol Palin's claims that she was never paid to be an abstinence spokesperson.
Courtesy of Radar Online:
Just days after announcing her second pregnancy out of wedlock, mama bear Bristol Palin was back on the defensive, addressing the wave of critics who have called the former abstinence advocate a hypocrite in a blistering blog post. “I have never been paid as an ‘abstinence spokesperson,'” she said, although RadarOnline.com has learned she earned more than $300,000 spreading that very message.
Palin admits she was employed by “the great people at the Candies Foundation [sic],” and according to tax records obtained by Radar, she was paid $262,5000 in 2009 for her work as an advocate, and $70,000 the year after.
While Palin insists that her focus, and that of the organization’s, was simply to prevent teen pregnancy, her statements in those years were stridently pro-abstinence.
In 2009, she told Good Morning America, “regardless of what I did personally, I just think that abstinence is the only … 100 percent foolproof way to prevent pregnancy,” and promised a magazine in that year, “I’m not going to have sex until I’m married: I can guarantee it.”
And when Palin made an appearance with the head of the Candie’s Foundation on Greta Van Susteren‘s On The Record in 2010, Van Susteren introduced her by saying, “”Bristol is promoting abstinence for the Candie’s Foundation.” What’s more, her listing on the webpage for the Single Source Speakers Agency lists “abstinence” as the very first topic of her expertise.
This is obviously bullshit, and Bristol is an idiot to deny the facts when they are so easily to locate online.
In fact the folks at the Inquisitr have determined that Bristol made somewhere in the vicinity of one million dollars as a direct result of her time as a abstinence spokesperson.
By the way if you want to hear Bristol Palin delivering a speech to a pro-life group in 2010 as a direct result of her work as an abstinence spokesperson then here you go. (However I must warn you that she is an absolutely TERRIBLE speaker.)
You will notice that Bristol had no problem lying to these people about "accidentally" becoming pregnant when we all know that she planned that pregnancy as well.
P.S. This is the most recent post on Bristol's Instagram:
Here is what she wrote to go along with it:
AKA every negative comment on my IG 😂 .. Don't people have work? Or kids? Or hobbies other than trolling? #mustbeafulltimejob
Really not doing herself any favors here is she?

Sunny Johnston weighs in on Levi's statement, and expands on it a bit.
Courtesy of Sunny's Facebook page:
My little two cents about the recent news regarding Levi today:
1) I'm so proud of him for always taking the high road. Even when his name was being drug through the mud he ignores it or says something positive.
2) We REALLY need to take new family photos lol
3) I wish they would have written about his message to other parents about co-parenting and how important it is. I was sitting right next to him and I thought that was the best part of it all. You really do have to put your differences aside and put your children first!
Gee look, they BOTH took the high road.
Someday I think I will post a bunch of texts that Bristol has sent to various people, who then forwarded them to me, just so everybody can see how nasty she can be, and how hard it must be for the Johnstons to treat with any kindness whatsoever.
Take it from me, that the ugliness you have seen from her publicly is nothing compared to what happens in private.

"The Apprentice" is no more, as NBC cuts ties with Donald Trump over racist remarks. Update!
"Oops." |
NBC has cut ties with business mogul Donald Trump, whose show "The Apprentice" has aired on the network since 2004, over Trump's recent derogatory statements about immigrants.
According to a statement, the network is "ending its business relationship" with Trump, noting the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants and "The Apprentice" will no longer air on NBC.
While announcing his candidacy in the 2016 GOP presidential primary race, Trump bashed Mexican immigrants, calling some "rapists."
"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you," Trump said. "They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
Well good for NBC!
It is well past time that this bloviating asshole paid for the crap he says.
If he keeps this up by the time his campaign finally crashes and burns he will end up penniless and reviled by everybody.
Update: Get this, Trump is suggesting that NBC is doing this because they want him to do "The Apprentice" instead of running for President.
This guy's cognitive dissonance is absolutely unbelievable.

Fox's Todd Starnes interviews Franklin Graham about Supreme Court decision on marriage equality so you know this will be ridiculous.
Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:
While it is a sad day for America when the Supreme Court will "endorse sin," Graham vowed that "I will never recognize it in my heart" because "God gave us marriage and God does not change his mind."
Graham went on to warn Christians that "you had better be ready and you had better be prepared" because the wholesale persecution of Christianity will now be unleashed, as will, ultimately, God's judgment on this nation.
"I do believe that God's judgment will come on this nation," he said, noting that just as God brought judgment upon the nation of Israel in the Bible, so too will He bring judgment on America.
Of course Graham's assertion that marriage was given to us by his Christian god is absurd.
In fact marriage, both polygamist and monogamist, existed many of thousands of years before Christianity, and even Judaism.
Not only that but there are societies that do not even recognize a deity where marriage is just as important as it is to religious assholes like Graham.
Christians seem determined to take ownership of marriage, as if the marital unions of those from other religions or secularists were somehow illegitimate by comparison.
It is that kind of arrogance which is causing people to leave the Christian church in droves.

Levi Johnston takes the high road in response to news of Bristol Palin's second out of wedlock pregnancy.
Courtesy of Levi Johnston's public Facebook page. |
Bristol Palin just got some support from her nemesis -- the baby daddy fighting her in a nasty custody war ... former fiance, Levi Johnston.
It's a strange twist. Levi, who shares 6-year-old Tripp with Palin, tells TMZ he and wife Sunny are going to do what they can to help raise her new kid. He says she's "a great mom."
And get this ... Levi says he's sorry for Bristol's string of bad luck, specifically mentioning the fact she called off her wedding.
As for the whole kid out of wedlock thing, Levi says waiting to have kids until the parents tie the knot is the way to go, but he understands things happen ... they happened to him.
TMZ goes on to say that Levi's words are strange for a guy still fighting Bristol for custody, but then again that could be exactly why he is not piling on.
Or it could just be that he is really a nice guy, and that everything negative people hear about him were lies told by a hateful ex-girlfriend, and her even more hateful mother.
From everything I have ever heard about Levi from people who know him is that he is a stand up guy who works hard, loves his family, and just wants to live a simple life in the town where he grew up.
On the other hand the things I hear about Bristol are the kinds of things that make you want to take a very hot shower, and scrub, and scrub until your skin is raw and you cannot scrub anymore.

Oklahoma Republican Senator James Inhofe says that he has gay friends who dislike the recent Supreme Court decision on marriage equality. Riiight!

Sen. James Inhofe (R) told KJRH that the U.S. Supreme Court is “A very liberal court and we saw what happened last week,” referring to an earlier court decision allowing the Affordable Care Act to continue forward.
Adding, “They haven’t ruled right on anything in a long time,” Inhofe turned to Friday’s landmark decision making same sex marriage the law of the land, saying he has gay friends who agreed with him that it was decided improperly.
Okay first off what kind of self respecting gay person would be against the Supreme Court ruling?
And secondly James Inhofe has gay friends?
Yeah, I'm sure they hang out with his black friends, and the scientists who don't believe global warming in real, in a place called bullshit mountain.

Wonkette discovers that finally there is a new video on the Sarah Palin Channel. Update!
Click gaping maw to play video |
What I thought was far more entertaining was this synopsis found in the middle of the article:
There is no easy way to say this: Sarah Palin’s grifting business appears to be foundering. The mast has snapped, the waves are coming over the gunwales, and the First Mate slipped, fell on a penis, and got pregnant again. Mutinies have been sparked by less, but mutinies require a mutinous crew, and right now, Sarah Palin stands alone at the bridge, spinning the wheel hard one way, then hard the other, like she saw a man do in a movie once.
Now see I thought that was actually a perfect description of what Palin is going through right now.
She really does seem to be all alone in this grifting enterprise these days, with one daughter getting knocked up (Again!), another off cutting hair, a third publicly giving away a pig that her mother had just written a post about and fighting with her sister about it, and of course the older brother still MIA as usual.
(Speaking of MIA just where in the hell is Todd these days?)
Personally at this point I think we can write the whole family off as a waste of oxygen.
I really only care about the well being of one of the kids t this point, and that is this one.
I still think that he is worth saving, and if he spends more time with his father, and less with this family of sideshow freaks, he will be.
Update: I forgot about Trig somehow. Yes I am totally concerned about him as well.
David Sweat, the second escaped fugitive, has been wounded and taken into custody.
Courtesy of the New York Daily News:
Escaped inmate David Sweat has been shot and is in custody, a source told the Daily News Sunday.
The fugitive's capture, which could not be immediately confirmed by authorities, signaled a possible end to the 23-day manhunt.
The source said that Sweat was seriously wounded but still alive. The news came as an autopsy on Clinton Correctional Facility escapee Richard Matt revealed he was shot in the head three times by a U.S. Customs agent, authorities announced Sunday.
As I am sure all of you know Sweat's partner, Richard W. Matt, was killed a few days ago by the authorities, so the good news for this guy at least is that he is going to live long enough to find himself back behind bars.
Just like his partner Sweat was also in prison for murder, so once again it is good news that both of these men are no longer free to commit more crimes, or perhaps take more lives.

After Univision cancels Miss USA telecast due to Donald Trump's racist comments, Trump sends letter forbidding them from setting foot on any of his properties. Trump diplomacy at work.
Courtesy of ABC News:
Donald Trump has banned any employee of Univision from stepping foot on one of his properties after the Spanish-language network cancelled the Miss USA telecast.
The billionaire real estate baron, who is now running for president, sent a signed letter to the company's CEO and made threats about future policies.
"Please congratulate your Mexican Government officials for having made such outstanding trade deals with the United States. However, inform them that should I become President, those days are over. We are bringing jobs back to the U.S. Also, a meaningful border will be immediately created, not the laughingstock that currently exists," Trump said in the letter.
Yes this is the guy we won't negotiating foreign policy with Putin, or working out a nuclear agreement with Iran.
The guy would start a war over the slightest provocation.
Essentially he is a big orange baby, with weird hair, and an over inflated ego.
He actually may be too clownish to be permitted to sit in the GOP clown car. And that's really saying something.

Bristol Palin is now claiming that she wanted to be an unwed mother for the second time. Really?
"Deal with it!" |
So here are the things you should all get straight before you continue to mock me, judge me, and talk about me.
None of us are perfect.
I made a mistake, but it’s not the mistake all these giddy a$$holes have loved to assume.
This pregnancy was actually planned. (Say what?)
Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family. Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn’t go as planned, but life keeps going. Life moves on. (So is she saying that this is Dakota's baby? Does Dakota know that?)
But I do not regret this baby. This baby is not a disappointment, and I cannot wait to be a mom times two. Tripp is going to make the best big brother!!
(Uhh, then why did she say this: "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you." I mean she was apologizing to everybody right out of the gate.)
Bristol then goes on to point out that the Candies Foundation is standing with her (Which I pointed out yesterday.), claims she was NOT paid to be their spokesperson, and then incredibly claims that she is still employed at that dermatologist's office in Anchorage.
She then goes on to pathetically pander to the pro-life crowd:
When I realized I was pregnant, I knew I would be completely crucified. But I never even thought of aborting this child, NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCE. (Sorry to the ghouls at Gawker, who said this baby is an argument FOR abortion. Not happening.)
I am pregnant. This is not the ideal situation, but life is important even if it’s not in the most absolute ideal circumstance. This is more confirmation on what I’ve always stood for. I’ve always been pro-life and I am standing for life now.
Deal with it.
Okay so there you trolls!
Bristol did not get pregnant because she is not smart enough to use birth control. She got pregnant by tricking some poor bastard into knocking her up.
Okay I have a question. If this baby was planned back when Bristol was still planning to marry Dakota, then where are his excited announcements on Facebook about his impending fatherhood?
Unless of course he doesn't know, or perhaps ISN'T the father?
If Bristol thought she was going to quiet her critics with his post, she is sadly, sadly mistaken.
In fact she may have even made the whole thing worse.
P.S. I think I should note that according to Levi Bristol also planned her first unwed pregnancy, so clearly this is a pattern with her.
Update: ET is having a little trouble making any sense out of Bristol's blog posts.

Jill Duggar and her hubby want money so that they can flee the country.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard say that God is telling them that it is time to get out of America!
In a statement on their family blog, Dillard said, “God has put a desire in our hearts to serve Him internationally for longer than the typical short-term mission trip… It’s something we’ve prayed about together in an effort to seek God’s plan for our lives in His service.”
This decision comes shortly after the revelation that Jill’s brother Josh had allegedly molested her and her sister when they were children.
Of course the husband makes it sound like he has no choice because God "put a desire in our hearts to serve him internationally."
The term "put a desire in our hearts" sounds really icky and sort of like bullshit to me.
But what do I know I'm a heathen?
I mean to my cynical mind this just seems like a really convenient way to be out of the line of fire when the next devastating revelations about your family hit the internet. But once again...you know...heathen.
Actually I might be willing to donate a dollar or two to this cause, but only if I could be assured that they would never return, and after establishing a base camp in some country where diddling your sister was perfectly okay, would then call for the rest of the Duggar family to join them.

Glenn Beck claims that due to the Supreme Court decision supporting marriage equality that he may lose his radio program. Will the good news never stop?
Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:
Glenn Beck reacted to the Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage today by declaring that he will now begin to look for different ways to broadcast his message in case the FCC attemps to strip him of his broadcasting license because his Mormon church will not perform same-sex marriages.
"This could mean the end of radio broadcasts like mine," Beck warned. "I am on now public airwaves regulated by the federal government. If I say, or anybody on this show says they're for traditional marriage, which I am in my personal life ... that now puts this radio broadcast in jeopardy because we are on federally regulated airwaves. I will tell you that I am going to begin, today, looking for other vehicles besides the radio broadcast just so, in a two year period, should somebody start to mount this, what does that mean?"
And here I thought the best thing about the Supreme Court decision to make gay marriage legal, was..you know gay marriage.
But if the decision forces Glenn Beck off the air, and perhaps others like him, then to be honest gay marriage would probably only be the second best outcome.
I'm just saying.

That darn gay marriage is now coming to a frozen food section near you.

Ben & Jerry’s, a longstanding corporate champion of gay rights, is celebrating the Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing gay marriage throughout the U.S. by renaming one of its ice cream flavors. During the summer the chain will rename its Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream to “I Dough, I Dough” at participating stores. Proceeds from the ice cream sales will go to the Human Rights Campaign, a nonprofit that advocates for LGBT rights.
Gee they actually are going to shove gay marriage down our throats.
Though I guess technically we would be shoving it down out OWN throats.
Tricky.
Personally I love Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and cookie dough is one of my favorite flavors. So I might really enjoy shoving this down my throat.

Catholics come out as victims of their own prejudice, due to their anti-marriage equality stance.
Courtesy of Blue Nation:
In a video that must be seen to be believed, a group of people, shown in black and white for dramatic effect, sit down to “come out.”
But they’re not coming out as gay. No, they’re doing something far more courageous.
They’re coming out as being against same-sex marriage.
The group behind this video is called Catholic Vote, a conservative non-profit, and it is fairly obvious that as members of one of the largest churches in the world they have no idea what it is like to be discriminated against.
As evidenced by the fact that this video is extremely insulting to every person who has ever been shamed for being gay, or for not being religious, or for daring to stand up for the rights of others.

Sarah Palin finally responds to the Supreme Court decision over Obamacare. How many days ago was that?
Courtesy of Rip Van Wrinkly's Facebook page:
Is it too much to ask "Constitutional Scholars" to be faithful to the Constitution?
The most intrusive big government takeover in history – the Obamacare debacle – is now step-by-step tragically enabled by a handful sitting on the Supreme Court. They, who don't understand our Constitution, are deceiving those not paying attention by acting as if the federal government is more powerful than our individual states, and worse, is greater than individual free and capable Americans. THIS is why a sincere protector of the Constitution must win in 2016. Her or his appointments to the bench WILL make or break America. (I agree with that. Go Hillary!) The purpose of the United States Constitution is to impose restrictions on government, to not feed the beast until its expansion suffocates a free people. As noted below, the Obamacare ruling just spoon-fed our obese Oval Office that is filled with those ignoring the will of the people along with our founding documents. The solution? Demand answers from candidates. Ask them: Is it too much to expect judicial appointments and the politicians doing the appointing who swear to God they'll uphold the Constitution to be loyal to the oath?
Actually yes it is too much to ask candidates to swear to any god on any topic. Remember there is not supposed to be any religious test for our public servants.
As others have mentioned Palin and her fellow conservatives certainly had no problem when SCOTUS determined during the Citizen's United case that corporations were people and money was free speech, which totally flies in the face of what the Founding Fathers wanted for this country. Oh but that one favored the Republicans, who rely on big money donors, so why would that upset the Palin?
Personally I am more interested in what Palin has to say in response to the more recent ruling supporting gay marriage in the country, or about better yet her daughter's newest pregnancy, however the only other recent post from her Facebook page is about some religious flag in Arkansas.
Booooring!

Woman climbs pole to remove Confederate Battle flag in South Carolina.

A woman was arrested for removing the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Statehouse Saturday -- only to have the banner raised again less than an hour later.
Using a harness, Bree Newsome climbed the 30-foot pole in Columbia just after dawn, organizer Tamika Lewis told the Daily News. Newsome brought down the flag as officers yelled for her to climb down, and State Police took it out of her hands when she reached the bottom.
"You cannot get to me with hatred and oppression and violence," Newsome shouted from the top of the pole, according to video. "I come to do this in the name of God. This flag comes down today."
Now THAT is some fearless activism.

Donald Trump refuses requests to release his birth certificate. Can you say "hypocrisy?"
Courtesy of the Guardian:
Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has refused to release his long-form birth certificate and passport records, despite demanding the same from Barack Obama during the 2012 election.
The Guardian contacted the Trump campaign to request the birth certificate and passport records of the Apprentice host, but a spokeswoman refused to share the documents.
In October 2012, Trump, a prominent figure in the “birther movement” – a loose affiliation of people who claimed Obama was born outside the US – accused Obama of being “the least transparent president in the history of this country” for refusing to release the very details Trump is now refusing to publish.
Seriously?
Every time I think this guy could not get any more clownish he goes and proves me wrong.

Oh look she even got a pro-life pander in there.
Cause remember she's not a former abstinence spokesperson who is publicly knocked up again without benefit of a spouse because she is a slut who doesn't understand how birth control works. She's a former abstinence spokesperson who is publicly knocked up again without benefit of a spouse because she is a good Christian who supports a pro-life agenda.
So there !
Sadly for her not a whole lot of people are buying it.
In response to her demand for "no lectures" Slate decided to tally up some of the times that she, and her ghostwriter Nancy French, felt free to lecture....well just about everybody.
And the International Business Times decided to focus on the amount she hypocritically made as a spokesperson for abstinence.
However on the plus side Candies. who paid Bristol for telling women that becoming a teen mother was bad while raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars for being a teen mother, are standing by her:
"In 2011, when she was just 19, Bristol Palin was enormously helpful to The Candie's Foundation in our mission to educate teenagers about the devastating consequences of teen pregnancy."
That is CYA 101.
You know I think that if you believe that Bristol Palin convinced even one teenage girl that getting pregnant was not glamorous and a ticket to fame and fortune you are a special kind of stupid.
By the way Wasilla folks (Or Palin family members who are tired of this shit.) if you happen to know who the daddy is, I know some tabloids who are willing to pay big bucks for that information.

In other news, escaped criminal Richard W. Matt has been located and killed by law enforcement. Well that's one.
Courtesy of the New York Times:
Richard W. Matt, one of the convicted murderers who staged an elaborate escape from New York’s largest prison nearly three weeks ago, was shot and killed on Friday by federal agents, two people with knowledge of the situation said.
There was a report of a second episode of gunfire as law enforcement officers pursued David Sweat, the other inmate, according to the two people. Mr. Sweat’s fate was unclear.
The shots were reported as law enforcement officers zeroed in on an area of remote terrain in Franklin County, near where investigators discovered evidence in two hunting cabins that indicated the missing inmates had been there.
It marked a violent turn in a sprawling manhunt that began in Dannemora, N.Y., a village near the Canadian border, and soon spread to large swaths of the state after Mr. Sweat and Mr. Matt engineered a daring breakout from Clinton Correctional Facility.
You know usually I hope that law enforcement takes criminals alive, but fuck this guy, he is too damn dangerous to be out here with the rest of us and if he died in the attempt to capture him so be it.
Just in case you think I am exaggerating how dangerous this guy is check out the Wikipedia page on him:
On December 3, 1997, Richard Matt attacked his 72 year old boss, William Rickerson, in his North Tonawanda home. After attacking him, and stopping to eat pepperoni and drink wine, Matt put Rickerson in his trunk and drove to New York. Matt was convinced Rickerson had large sums of money in his possession and demanded to know its location. At one point, Matt grasped the duct tape around Rickerson's hands and pulled it back, breaking his boss' fingers. Later, Matt snapped Rickerson's neck with his bare hands. He then dismembered the body and fled to Mexico to avoid capture.
Yeah like I said, fuck this guy.

The new look for White House.gov yesterday.
Source |
The White House website was by no means the only ones to adopt the rainbow motif either.
I have to tell you folks, we are going to be hard pressed to have another week quite as good as this last week.
My daughter and I had some amazing conversations about Supreme Court decisions, and I felt as if my promises to her when she was born of making the world a better place for her are starting to come true.
(Yes I realize I did not make these changes directly, but I would like to think that I helped some. Maybe just a little?)

Nice way to end our day. President Obama singing "Amazing Grace."
Courtesy of Rolling Stone:
President Obama attended Rev. Clementa Pinckney's funeral in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday and delivered a moving version of "Amazing Grace" in the middle of his touching eulogy.
Rev. Pinckney was a state senator and one of the nine victims of the tragic shooting that occurred in the church where his funeral took place. "If we can find that grace, anything is possible," Obama stated to the congregation. "If we can tap that grace, everything can change."
After a moment of solemn silence, Obama began singing "Amazing Grace" a cappella before the choir, attendees and musicians joined in for the performance. Afterwards, the president stated that each of the victims had "found that grace," naming all nine individually. "May God continue to shed his grace on the United States of America," he concluded.
The President has some pipes.
He could use a little more practice to help his singing, but damn when the man speaks......
Even for a die hard Atheist like me, I found that quite touching.

Bristol Palin baby bump day two.
So yesterday we learned that Bristol has learned absolutely NOTHING about birth control in the six and a half years since Tripp's birth. (Wow! Are there really over 700 comments on that post?)
Sometime after the initial spate of giggles died down people began focusing on the fact mentioned in the above graphic of Bristol's almost shocking hypocrisy. (Some of the best comments can be found here on this comment thread from Reddit.)
Columnist Dan Savage also mentioned the hypocrisy of the Right Wing and in particular Fox News:
If Bristol Palin's last name was "Obama" the whole Hee Haw gang at Fox News would spend half of every day for the next nine months telling us that Bristol Obama has terrible parents—"Maybe Michelle should be less concerned with what your kids are eating and more concerned with what her kids are doing!"—and the other half of the day pretending to fret over the terrible example that Bristol Obama was setting for other African American women and girls. But unplanned pregnancies and kids in fatherless homes and two different children by two different fathers?
This obvious and accurate point seems to have irritated Geraldo Rivera, who tweeted this concerning the story "fxck you jerk off. Fox news doesn't have a reaction to anyone's pregnancy."
(Yes, of course as we know Fox News always takes the high road.)
A little closer to home I have been receiving a lot of incoming missives from people here in Alaska saying that there is NO WAY the baby is Dakota's and that Bristol is setting him up to pay years of unnecessary child support.
I agree 100% so I sent that Radar Online link to Dakota's Facebook page along with advice to demand a blood test, where it now remains the top comment out of 56 replies to his initial post promoting some company.
My hope is that Dakota will say something publicly about the pregnancy, which would be both awesome and kind of necessary for him if he wants to dodge this particular bullet.
As of this writing Sarah has not yet bothered to weigh in, though I cannot imagine her staying silent for much longer.
That will also be pretty awesome.

Jeb Bush and the purge of minority voters during the 2000 presidential election.
Courtesy of HuffPo:
As the 2016 campaign heats up, an episode from his tenure as Florida governor reveals why Bush's image as a “uniter, not a divider,” as his older brother used to put it, may not stand up. The state's deeply flawed purge of felons from its voting rolls in advance of the 2000 presidential election remains a scar that still has not healed for many in the state.
“I’ll never the forget people that came up to me and said, ‘You let them steal our votes,’” Rep. Corrine Brown (D-Fla.), who became state's first African-American elected to Congress since Reconstruction when she won her seat in 1992, told The Huffington Post. “So many people were just wiped off the rolls -- people who’d been voting for years and years. You had the obligation to prove that you weren’t a felon.”
The felon purge wrongfully denied thousands of legitimate voters the ability to participate in a presidential election pitting Republican George W. Bush against Democrat Al Gore. Ultimately, a few hundred Florida ballots would determine the presidency, and with it, the nation’s path for the next eight years and, really, well beyond.
Though it received little notice outside of Florida in the election’s immediate aftermath, as hanging chads and butterfly ballots took center stage during the recount, the purge remains for many the most egregious example of voter disenfranchisement that took place during the 2000 presidential election, which was ultimately decided by a Supreme Court ruling.
“The purge was right out of one of these playbooks in how you diminish minority turnout -- there was absolutely no justification for it,” said Dan Gelber, a former Democratic state legislator and a longtime Bush nemesis.
Just a reminder that Jeb Bush can speak Spanish until his lips fall off, but that deep down we all know that he will gladly stomp on the rights of minorities in exchange for political expediency.
Oh, and this story also reminds us just how responsible Jebbie is for this brother's presidency.
That all by itself should be the ultimate dis-qualifier.

Vanity Fair sees that Sarah Palin is down, decides to give her a little kick. Update!
Courtesy of Vanity Fair:
The most notable thing about the news of Sarah Palin sliding off the skillet at Fox News, her contributor’s contract expiring after a long dribble on life support, is how un-newsy it was—barely a pebble splash. Palin’s being let go from Fox News seemed as negligible as the CW canceling a series that viewers had forgotten was still on. There was a time not that long ago in our post 9/11 delirium when every sassy, spangly number Palin performed under the political big top kicked up sawdust and attracted yokel attention in the political media. Her appearances on Fox News were billed in advance as if she were about to lay down another smacking on the liberals and squishy conservatives who were still a-sceered of her grizzly-mama scorn, no matter how much they pretended otherwise behind their cocktail-party smirks. Palin had those millions of Facebook friends and Twitter followers, after all, a mighty army of admirers who could be mobilized at a moment’s notice to rise up in revolt and fire off a tweet or two before collapsing back on the sofa, not wanting to miss too much television.
The numbers are still there for her on social media, but they might as well be empty eggs and spambots. She has the dubious honor of being just about the only Fox News alumnus who hasn’t announced as a candidate for the Republican nomination, the clown car reaching official overcapacity next week when Chris Christie crams himself into the race. Most tellingly, unlike in years past, there is no fan base or astroturf movement clamoring for Palin to jump into the fray as the Tea Party’s Furiosa—no one claiming that she is the only warrior queen capable of defeating Hillary Clinton in the dusty field of battle that will be converted into a FEMA internment camp, should Hillary prevail. (I take it these folks have not heard of a little slice of hell we like to call the Sea O'Pee.) How fickle our political culture. Palin seduced the party and its pundits—her camera wink during the 2008 vice-presidential debate had National Review editor Rich Lowry seeing “little starbursts”—and now she has been abandoned, a brittle relic of yesteryear.
The irony is that Palin’s incoherence as a thinker and speaker—her ability to toss a word salad at the slightest prompting—has set the tone and tempo for the Republican contenders that have so far taken the field and are wandering around with their helmets on sideways. Donald Trump, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Rick Perry, Rand Paul—their message discipline and mental rigor seems to be held together with old garter belts. Even a supposed pro such as Jeb Bush is betraying a lot of rust that’s accrued from years of not campaigning and enjoying his post-gubernatorial complacency.
The article then goes on to discuss Republican incoherence, Roger Ailes along with the future of Fox News, and their prediction that Palin will ultimately throw her support to Donald Trump as a "gesture of charlatan respect."
As if Palin really respects anyone that is not somehow furthering her career, or helping her to make money.
You know I have always liked Vanity Fair's tale on the Wasilla Wendigo.
They also boldly went where few reporters dare to tread back in 2009 and 2010. And who could forget Levi's contribution also in 2009?
Boy those were the days weren't they?
However these days there is so little meat on the bone I am sure many publications think that it almost a waste of time to send a reporter up here to dig up any dirt on Princess Dumbass of the North.
Of course I still have a few stories left to tell.
And hopefully I will get to tell them soon.
Hey, maybe Vanity Fair would like to hear them?
Update: Oh look here! Vanity Fair weighed in on Bristol's second not so immaculate conception.

The Supreme Court just ruled in favor of same sex marriage. Update!
I just saw this happen on MSNBC.
I will expand this post when more information is available.
Damn has this been a great week!
Update: Here is the Washington Post:
The Supreme Court on Friday delivered an historic victory for gay rights, ruling 5-4 that the Constitution requires that same-sex couples be allowed to marry no matter where they live and that states may no longer reserve the right only for heterosexual couples.
The court’s action marks the culmination of an unprecedented upheaval in public opinion and the nation’s jurisprudence. Advocates called it the most pressing civil rights issue of modern times, while critics said the courts had sent the country into uncharted territory by changing the traditional definition of marriage.
5-4, damn this one just squeaked by.
Update 2: Franklin Graham's response to this decision is...kinda crazy:
"The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled today that same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. With all due respect to the court, it did not define marriage, and therefore is not entitled to re-define it.
"Long before our government came into existence, marriage was created by the One who created man and woman—Almighty God—and His decisions are not subject to review or revision by any manmade court. God is clear about the definition of marriage in His Holy Word: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh" (Genesis 2:24).
"I pray God will spare America from His judgment, though, by our actions as a nation, we give Him less and less reason to do so."
So in other words God's gonna get us for allowing gays to marry.
And he is not the only one threatening divine retribution for this decision. Raw Story has a whole list of Religious Right lunatics threatening everything from civil war to an epidemic of hurricanes.
Well so much for a rational debate on the decision.
Update 3: President Obama's tweet:

Univision, the Spanish language television network, refuses to air Donald Trump's Miss Universe contest because he apparently hates Mexicans.
Today, the entertainment division of Univision Communications Inc. announced that it is ending the Company’s business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is part-owned by Donald J. Trump, based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants.
At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country. We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization.
This of course is in response to Trump saying this during his announcement as a indicate for President:
"When Mexico sends its people, they are not sending their best. They are not sending you. They are sending people that have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems to us. They are bringing drugs and they are bringing crime, and they’re rapists.”
Yeah apparently Spanish speaking people don't like it when you call them rapists. Who knew?
Of course Trump being Trump there was no way he was letting this go.
Mexican gov doesn't want me talking about terrible border situation & horrible trade deals. Forcing Univision to get me to stop- no way!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 25, 2015
Univision wants to back out of signed @MissUniverse contract because I exposed the terrible trade deals that the U.S. makes with Mexico.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 25, 2015
I love Mexico but not the unfair trade deals that the US so stupidly makes with them. Really bad for US jobs, only good for Mexico.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 25, 2015
Well so much for attracting the Hispanic vote there Donald.Or, let's face it, support from ANY reasonable American voter.

Presidential candidates react to Supreme Court decision on Obamacare.
A great day! Add your name if you agree: Affordable health care is a basic human right → http://t.co/5xR3n1XDoc pic.twitter.com/kATncnkfGq
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) June 25, 2015
However her opponents on the other side of the aisle are not quite as jubilant.(Statements courtesy of HuffPo)
Jeb Bush:
I am disappointed by today’s Supreme Court ruling in the King v. Burwell case. But this decision is not the end of the fight against Obamacare.
This fatally-flawed law imposes job-killing mandates, causes spending in Washington to skyrocket by $1.7 trillion, raises taxes by $1 trillion and drives up health care costs. Instead of fixing our health care system, it made the problems worse.
Aww, Jebbie's got the sads.
And he is by no means alone.
Marco Rubio:
I disagree with the Court’s ruling and believe they have once again erred in trying to correct the mistakes made by President Obama and Congress in forcing Obamacare on the American people."
“Despite the Court’s decision, ObamaCare is still a bad law that is having a negative impact on our country and on millions of Americans. I remain committed to repealing this bad law and replacing it with my consumer-centered plan that puts patients and families back in control of their health care decisions. We need Consumer Care, not ObamaCare.
Rand Paul:
This decision turns both the rule of law and common sense on its head. Obamacare raises taxes, harms patients and doctors, and is the wrong fix for America's health care system.
Rick Perry:
The Obama Administration has ignored the text of the Affordable Care Act time and again, and today’s ruling allows them to continue to disregard the letter of the law. While I disagree with the ruling, it was never up to the Supreme Court to save us from Obamacare. We need leadership in the White House that recognizes the folly of having to pass a bill to know what’s in it. We need leadership that understands a heavy-handed, one-size-fits-all policy does nothing to help health outcomes for Americans.
With individual premiums up more than 50 percent and nearly 5 million people losing their health plans, Americans deserve better than what we’re getting with Obamacare. It’s time we repealed Obamacare and replaced it with truly affordable, patient centered-health care reform, and I look forward to laying out my ideas on this issue.
(That's all bullshit by the way.)
There were also tweeted responses from the clown car:
#ObamaCare ruling is judicial tyranny. http://t.co/Di6WjxOc3y
— Gov. Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) June 25, 2015
Deeply disappointed by #SCOTUS ruling. Fundamental increase of govt control. I'm working to ensure next Pres repeals and replaces #Obamacare
— Dr. Ben Carson (@RealBenCarson) June 25, 2015
Today's Supreme Court ruling is another reminder that if we want to get rid of #Obamacare, we must elect a conservative President #RICK2016
— Rick Santorum (@RickSantorum) June 25, 2015
And what Santorum said should be a lesson to Progressives that they must all turn out to vote in order to ensure that the next Supreme Court Justices selected are not Right Wing lunatics like Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. Speaking of Scalia here are some not to be missed portions of his dissent on this ruling. (I especially like the "jiggery-pokery" line.)
All in all with this, and Bristol's admission that she is pregnant, it has been a pretty damn good day for your friendly neighborhood blogger.
Bristol Palin announces that she's pregnant. Update!
Courtesy of Brancy's blog:
(I’m announcing this news a lot sooner than I ever expected due to the constant trolls who have nothing better to talk about!!!)
I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant.
Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one.
At the end of the day there’s nothing I can’t do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace.
Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up.
When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher.
I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you.
But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.
My little family always has, and always will come first.
Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful.
Okay so here's the thing, for awhile now there has been this humming in the background about Bristol being pregnant.
At first it was kind of sporadic and none of her Instagram pictures seemed to really support that claim. (Though this one did make one reporter who contacted me ask "Has she always had boobs that big?")
However in the last few days I have been hearing from people in the Wasilla area who are all but convinced that Bristol is indeed pregnant. And then one who WAS convinced she was pregnant.
So today I had already written part of this post to tell all you that I had just had it confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. (I guess that makes me one of the "constant trolls" that she refers to.)
But it looks like Bristol decided to get out ahead of the story. And good for her for doing so.
However what she is not admitting is what my sources are also telling me, and that is that she is back with Joey Junker.
Which of course brings up the question of who's the baby daddy?
Dakota Meyer?
Or Joey Junker?
And of course THIS news comes right after we also learned that the Mama Grizzly just lost her job with Fox News.
Boy it must be so much fun around the Palin compound these days, don't you think?
P.S. Is this where I should point out that Levi Johnston is married, employed, and that his two babies with Sunny were both born in wedlock?
Or is that just mean?
Update: For those wondering about the timing, there was a National Enquirer reporter who was working with me on this, and we both got confirmation around the same time so we both were about to break the story, and HE texted that fact to Bristol.
That story is now published in Radar Online.
Update: Holy Crap, Bristol is naming Dakota Meyer as the father!
I have my doubts about that.

"You're in my house." President Obama shuts down protester during event honoring LGBT pride month.
Courtesy of HuffPo:
President Barack Obama was heckled Wednesday during a White House event honoring LGBT Pride Month by an undocumented LGBT activist protesting his administration's policies on deportation and undocumented LGBT immigrants.
"Not one more deportation!" Jennicet Gutiérrez shouted, before being escorted from the room by Secret Service agents.
Obama appeared angry at the interruption and addressed Gutiérrez directly. "No, no, no. Listen, you're in my house. It's not respectful. Shame on you. You shouldn't be doing this," he said.
Gutiérrez, a 29-year-old transgender woman, came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 15. She is in the process of getting a green card through her sister, but is currently undocumented. At Wednesday's event, she said she intended to deliver a letter bringing the abuse of undocumented LGBT immigrants to Obama's attention.
You know I think there is certainly a time and a place to heckle a politician, but if you are transgender it seems doing it during a White House event honoring LGBT month just seems incredibly counterproductive.
I mean the President is already reaching out to your community, and has easily been the most pro-gay President that we have ever seen in this country.
So why try to embarrass him and anger other LGBT activists to make a point?
I think the President handled it well. And demonstrated great patience while doing so.

Supreme Court rules in favor of Obamacare. Tax subsidies to remain.

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that President Obama’s health care law may provide nationwide tax subsidies to help poor and middle-class people buy health insurance.
Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. wrote the majority opinion in the 6-to-3 decision. The court’s three most conservative members — Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. — dissented.
The case concerned a central part of the Affordable Care Act, Mr. Obama’s signature legislative achievement. The law created marketplaces, known as exchanges, to allow people who lack insurance to shop for individual health plans.
Those sounds you here are a whole lot of Americans breathing a sigh of relief and more than a few Right Wing heads exploding in frustration.
This is, of course, great news.

Nearly twice as many Americans killed by home grown extremists since 9-11 than by Islamic terrorists.
Courtesy of the New York Times:
In the 14 years since Al Qaeda carried out attacks on New York and the Pentagon, extremists have regularly executed smaller lethal assaults in the United States, explaining their motives in online manifestoes or social media rants.
But the breakdown of extremist ideologies behind those attacks may come as a surprise. Since Sept. 11, 2001, nearly twice as many people have been killed by white supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims: 48 have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim, compared with 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists, according to a count by New America, a Washington research center.
The slaying of nine African-Americans in a Charleston, S.C., church last week, with an avowed white supremacist charged with their murders, was a particularly savage case. But it is only the latest in a string of lethal attacks by people espousing racial hatred, hostility to government and theories such as those of the “sovereign citizen” movement, which denies the legitimacy of most statutory law. The assaults have taken the lives of police officers, members of racial or religious minorities and random civilians.
Non-Muslim extremists have carried out 19 such attacks since Sept. 11, according to the latest count, compiled by David Sterman, a New America program associate, and overseen by Peter Bergen, a terrorism expert. By comparison, seven lethal attacks by Islamic militants have taken place in the same period.
This follows a report by DHS which came to virtually the same conclusions.
Essentially what we now know is that while we are all in a blind panic over Islamic extremists we are being murdered here at home by our crazy extremist Right Wing neighbors.
Perhaps we should bring our military back home so that they can be here and start providing some REAL Homeland Security.
