Keith Olbermann takes a stab at my favorite news story of the day. Palin's non-interview interview program.

You know if Jon Stewart does a segment on this tonight as well I will be able to have a three post mock fest.

Talk about fun!

Oh this is just TOO good! Sarah Palin's "Real American Stories" is forced to drop LL Cool J interview portion after he points out Fox deception.

The clip of LL Cool J intended for the show was a minute and eight seconds long. After hearing of his dissatisfaction, Fox programmers pulled the moment from the show.

"‘Real American Stories' features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith's interview fit that criteria," FNC head of programming Bill Shine said in a statement.

"However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career."

Did you get that little dig at LL about his "fledgling movie career"? It sounds like somebody is feeling a little pissy that they were called out on their lies.  The people at Fox just hate that!

Jon Stewart finds much to mock about the return of Sarah Palin to the McCain campaign trail. Mock away Jon!

During that Greta Van Sustern episode (Yes she used to have a show before Sarah stole it away from her) does it look to anybody else like McCain is blinking out an SOS distress signal?

Andrew Sullivan has the Willow story now.

He has it as his quote of the day.

I am still chasing leads and trying to get more information, as well as attempting to locate a few other sources that can confirm some of the more scandalous details that I have not been able to post yet.

And no the scandalous part is NOT about Willow.

Sarah Palin looks like somebody Jesse James would date.

Oh Sarah Palin is making this too easy for Letterman.  Very damn funny!

Fox News decides to double down on the crazy and gives Sarah Palin her own show. Network straps on skis as search for shark begins. Update!

This from TVNewser:

The first installment of Fox News Channel's "Real American Stories" hosted by Sarah Palin airs this Thursday night at 10pmET, preempting "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."

The debut episode will include guests ranging from country singer Toby Keith, to rapper and actor LL Cool J, to former GE Chairman and CEO Jack Welch. The first show will also feature a Marine Medal of Honor recipient who gave his live to save his comrades and a profile of a wealthy stock broker who donated much of his fortune to underprivileged students so they can attend college.

The program will re-air Sunday at 9pmET.

Sarah Palin is now hosting TWO shows? Un-fucking-believable.

It has been a while since I read my bible but how could that NOT be a sign of the Apocalypse?

Why doesn't Fox News simply hire a tightrope walker, a couple of clowns, and a lion tamer and just come out of the closet about their true identity?  Ricky Martin finally did.

And this news comes out as wildlife groups are still reeling at the notion of Sarah Palin hosting a program about Alaska: “Having Palin host a nature program is like having Michael Vick host the 'Dog Whisperer,'” said Brian Vincent, Communications Director with Big Wildlife. “She and the state’s Board of Game served as Alaska’s death panel for countless wild animals. Discovery should pull the plug on Sarah.”

Update:  Oh this is too good!  LL Cool J says he is NOT going to be on Palin's show! And yes this is the REAL LL Cool J.

California State Unversity refuses to divulge how much they are paying Sarah Palin to butcher the English language.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle:

Sarah Palin is expected to raise nearly $200,000 for an appearance on a California State University campus in June. But the school foundation hosting the $500-a-plate event won't say what they are paying her, or even how much the party will cost - and that has angered a San Francisco lawmaker who is using the opportunity to push his bill for greater transparency by public university foundations.

"The CSU should immediately disclose how much money is being diverted from students to pay Sarah Palin's exorbitant speaking fees," said state Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, who has been trying to pass a law that would extend the California Public Records Act to those foundations.

"At a time when students are struggling to afford an education at CSU, I would hope that spending potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars on a guest speaker for a black-tie gala would be low on the priority list," Yee said in a statement issued Monday.

Lillian Taiz, president of the California Faculty Association, which represents CSU instructors, said Yee is right to push for full disclosure of Palin's fee.

"It just seems like an odd choice for a university," Taiz said. "If you want a moneymaker, why not Paris Hilton? She has about as much academic value and would probably bring even more money, if that's the goal." (Ahh truer words were never spoken.)

A moment of levity. Jimmy Kimmell gives us a sneak peek at Sarah Palin's reality show.

Remember Alaskans, Sarah Palin is a national laughingstock, not somebody to be feared.

Okay everybody can relax now! Eric Cantor is safe! I repeat Rep. Eric Cantor is safe!

As I am sure many of you know (especially since some anonymous poster keeps commenting about it here)  a highly unstable man made a YouTube video threatening the life of Rep. Eric Cantor.

Understandably Eric Canntor was terrified for his life and the Feds leaped into action and arrested this menace before he could carry out his devilish plans. (Which I am guessing was to sit at home in a poorly lit area and make more threatening YouTube videos.)

According to Talking Point Memo this man is a serial YouTube threatener who has also made threats against President Obama, the employees of YouTube, and the pig from those adorable "Babe" movies.

Babe the pig?  This lunatic actually threatened that sweet little pig?  Oh the humanity!

In fact Norman Leboon, or as he likes to refer to himself the "son of the god of Enoch", has made over 2000 threatening videos, including ones directed at George Bush, David Duke, and "teh gays".

Keith Olbermann is back and he wastes no time in calling Sarah Palin out on her violent rhetoric.

Perhaps somebody needs to tell the Teabagger Terrorist that her hate filled speeches and use of military symbolism has inspired violence against Democrats even up here in the last frontier.

Perhaps when they catch the perpetrator Palin will help him cut the same deal she got for her daughter.  Oh sorry I forgot, the rules apply to everybody EXCEPT the Palins.

The Law, the Willow, and the Wicked Witch of Wasilla.

As some of you may know I received a tip a few weeks back about Willow Palin and some potentially criminal behavior.  What you don't know is that after initially being very anxious to tell their story, the sources got cold feet and became reticent to speak to me about it.

Many back and forth e-mails and conversations took place, but I was not able to convince them to come forward.  The stated reason was a desire for privacy and a fear of retribution from Sarah and Todd Palin who many in the Valley still find intimidating.

I had just about given up on getting any useful information, and then something rather fortunate happened.

The new upstart blog AlaskaWTF, put up this post.

Reading that the story was going to come out from another source (I sort of sent them the link to let them know), my sources decided that it was important to get the correct story published.

This is what I learned.

On December 13, a Wasilla homeowner discovered that the home they had for sale, but were no longer living in, had been broken into and vandalized.

The lock had been forced, five wooden doors had been so badly damaged they needed to be replaced, the walls and floors had been gouged with knives, and vodka and orange juice containers were strewn all over the house. It also appeared that sexual activity had taken place on some of the beds, and a computer, some winter gear, and clothing had all been stolen.

Calculations are that the home suffered between twenty to thirty thousand dollars in damage. Sources say it appeared the teens stayed in the house for several hours, perhaps even overnight.

The Troopers were quickly notified and the investigation began. And at first there were very few leads.

Then in January some information came to light which identified one of the perpetrators. This led to the revelation that the participants were 12 local teens who had used the empty house for a party, a party which had clearly spun badly out of control.

As you have undoubtedly surmised by now one of the teenagers identified was Willow Palin.

Should Homeland Security consider Right Wing extremists in this country security threats? Duh!

This from an excellent Huffington Post article written by Caroline Myss:

These Republicans have, in essence, raised a call to arms against their own countrymen and women during a time when this country continues to fight a war started by Republicans for bogus reasons, a fact which we must never forget. Representative Michele Bachman from Minnesota screamed to her constituents recently, "I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous ... Having a revolution every now and then is a good thing."

Representative Steve King yelled, "Let's beat that other side to a pulp! Let's take them out. Let's chase them down."

As for Sarah Palin, our Republican Court Fool, here's a sweet quote from her: "In Alaska, you know what we do with people like that? We hunt 'em down and shoot 'em between the eyes." Note that she is busy trying to backtrack on that remark and a few others like, "Don't retreat, reload", saying that she was actually referring to "voting 'em out at the polls". What? Since when is "shoot 'em between the eyes" a slogan for inspiring voting? Is this woman insane or what? Or does she think we are? Or is she coming very close to committing sedition? I remind you that this nation is still at war and inciting acts of violence against the government while the nation is at war borders on sedition. This may not be an anti-war protest in its purest sense but at its core, the ambition to weaken this government is crystal clear.

Further, do I sense a threat in these words or am I just reading between the lines? Nope, I think the word "shoot," means exactly what it says. Is she rallying the troops and suggesting that people plan the murders of their opponents? Is she supporting the assassination of Senators or Congressmen and women who are on the opposing team or, even the President? Exactly what, in her hysterical, arrogant lunacy, is she saying? Her website instructs her fan base: Don't retreat, reload.

Not to be outdone by Sarah, Levi now also shopping a reality show. Alrighty then.

According to Radar.online:

....Levi has meetings scheduled for Monday and is pitching an Alaska-based reality show. A source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com the show is currently titled Levin Johnston’s Last Frontier and will show him riding on pimped out snow machines with jet fuel in them.”

But if Levi sells this show he could pay his child support bills and more. The show will also feature Levi hunting, hanging with his pals and is described by one source as “sort of an Entourage on ice.”

Sarah has sold her own reality show and Levi told RadarOnline.com this weekend that his show will be far better.

His pitch to cable networks will include positioning Levi as “one of the world’s most famous teenagers” and will show parts of his life including “business opportunities, strange offers, appearances and…lots and lots of women.”

Well I am not a fan of reality shows as a rule, but if forced to choose between watching a shirtless Levi chasing Valley girls through the wilds of Wasilla or watching Sarah read notes off her hand about Alaska's wildlife, I choose Levi.

Moore Up North for March 27,2010

In this first segment Shannyn interviews Paul Honeman, once a mayoral candidate, now a candidate for the Anchorage Assembly Seat H.

Part Two: Introduces the panelists this week: Tom Wescott, President of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1264, Derek Hsieh, President of the Anchorage Police Department Employees Association, and Vince Beltrami, President of the Alaska AFL-CIO.

Part Three: In this segment Tom Wescott explains the truth about Mark Begich's so called "sweetheart" deal for the unions. The short version is don't get your information from conservative talk radio.

Part Four

Part Five: Questions from the audience. We learn why cutting funds for city rescue units is a BAD idea! For those who could not figure that out for themselves.

President Obama performs end run around Republican obstructionism by making 15 appointments whose nominations had been stalled by partisanship.

From the Huffington Post:

"The United States Senate has the responsibility to approve or disapprove of my nominees. But if, in the interest of scoring political points, Republicans in the Senate refuse to exercise that responsibility, I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis," Obama said in a statement.

"Most of the men and women whose appointments I am announcing today were approved by Senate committees months ago, yet still await a vote of the Senate. At a time of economic emergency, two top appointees to the Department of Treasury have been held up for nearly six months. I simply cannot allow partisan politics to stand in the way of the basic functioning of government."
The 15 newly appointed nominees are:

* Jeffrey Goldstein: Nominee for Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, Department of the Treasury

* Michael F. Mundaca: Nominee for Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, Department of the Treasury
* Eric L. Hirschhorn: Nominee for Under Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration and head of the Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of Commerce
* Michael Punke: Nominee for Deputy Trade Representative - Geneva, Office of the United States Trade Representative
* Francisco "Frank" J. Sánchez: Nominee for Under Secretary for International Trade, Department of Commerce
* Islam A. Siddiqui: Nominee for Chief Agricultural Negotiator, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative
* Alan D. Bersin: Nominee for Commissioner, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security
* Jill Long Thompson: Nominee for Member, Farm Credit Administration Board
* Rafael Borras: Nominee for Under Secretary for Management , Department of Homeland Security
* Craig Becker: Nominee for Board Member, National Labor Relations Board
* Mark Pearce: Nominee for Board Member, National Labor Relations Board
* Jacqueline A. Berrien: Nominee for Chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
* Chai R. Feldblum: Nominee for Commissioner, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
* Victoria A. Lipnic: Nominee for Commissioner, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
* P. David Lopez: Nominee for General Counsel, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

Now THIS is the President I voted for!  He has finally figured out that no matter WHAT he does the Republicans are going to vilify him so he might as well get things done and ignore the idea of bipartisanship until the GOP decides it needs to start working with him to save their political futures.

New Rules for March 26

Okay kids this is BILL MAHER!

He is going to say some very naughty, yet extremely funny things.  If you are very sensitive you might need to give this one a pass.

If not, you are going to love this!  I know I did!

Update: YouTube crapped out so this is from Liveleak now.

Here is the second protester from the McCain/Palin rally after they dragged him out of the building. Apparently he is a Libertarian.

Update: I have embedded the video here as it is one of those that starts automatically when you open the page and that can get very annoying after awhile.

I am confused.  Did John McCain spend time in a POW camp so that this guy could get roughed up like that?

Just in case somebody tries to call this a liberal stunt I wanted to make sure it was documented that this guy is a self identified Libertarian. In other words, a Teabagger.

I guess Sarah's turn as a McCain spokesmodel was not as convincing as they might have hoped.

Update: Thanks to those who pointed out that this was the SECOND protester and not the first.  I corrected my headline.

Hecklers disrupt McCain rally as Palin tries to sell his cranky old ass to the Teabagger crowd.

Same crappy speech as last time. Blah, blah, blah.

Then it gets interesting as a young man starts to heckle at the 5:21 mark.

GOP thugs attempt to grab him at the 6:34 mark and a brawl ensues.

After he is escorted out Palin somehow connects McCain's time as a POW to that guy's right to protest, which is sort of funny since when he did they hauled his ass outside so he could not be heard.

Then it is back to the same old talking points delivered in a high pitched screech that only cave bats can hear clearly.

But what is this?  ANOTHER heckler pops up at the 13:00 mark!

Oh no she didn't just use Ronald Reagan's signature phrase "There you go again"!  I hope Nancy is sending her a cease and desist order right this minute.

It is another young guy.  And now Palin is trying to compare the heckling from these two young men to the inflammatory rhetoric of the GOP that resulted in threatening e-mails and phone calls, vandalism, and an act of road rage against a man and his ten year old daughter because of an Obama bumper sticker on their car.  If she believes for one minute that having somebody call out in disagreement with her at a rally is comparable to the actions of the Republicans and Teabaggers she is even dumber than I thought.

Sarah Palin is NOT being paid a million dollars per episode for her Alaska unreality show!

I have been hearing this rumor for over a week now, and I always thought it sounded wrong, but EVERYBODY kept repeating that Palin would receive a million dollars for each episode of her show on TLC so I remained confused on the topic.

Finally the Daily Beast has received some clarification:

Contrary to popular opinion, cable network TLC thinks audiences can learn something from Sarah Palin, and the company is willing to pay her roughly $250,000 per episode, or $2 million in total, to educate them.

That’s the ballpark amount the woman formerly known as the governor of Alaska will pocket from the sale of an eight-episode documentary series to the Discovery-owned network, sources familiar with the project told The Daily Beast.

I still believe that Palin is being substantially overpaid for this program, but now at least we can put to bed that ridiculous rumor about a million dollars per episode.  TLC is going to lose enough money as it is.

RNC rejects opportunity to sign joint civility statement with Democrats.

According to Politico:

Various members of the DNC — including Chairman Tim Kaine, Executive Director Jen O’Malley Dillon and Communications Director Brad Woodhouse — contacted their respective RNC counterparts this week in hopes of getting RNC Chairman Michael Steele to co-sign a document with Kaine that, in part, called for “elected officials of both parties to set an example of the civility we want to see in our citizenry.”

“We also call on all Americans to respect differences of opinion, to refrain from inappropriate forms of intimidation, to reject violence and vandalism, and to scale back rhetoric that might reasonably be misinterpreted by those prone to such behavior,” read the proposed joint statement, which came at the end of a week which saw acts of vandalism and threats of violence directed at members of Congress from both parties, but mostly aimed at Democrats who voted “yes” on the health care bill.

Unbelievable!  After all that has happened this last week, and how poorly the GOP and their followers reacted to the passing of the Health Insurance reform bill, you would assume the Republicans would be anxious to put all of that behind them and move on.

Apparently not.  Instead they are taking their rhetorical shovels and digging like crazy seemingly unaware that they are digging their own political graves. (Once again GOP, not a threat, just an observation.)

I guess now they are not just the party of "NO", but the party of "HELL NO!"

Active duty Marine has some words of advice for those Teabaggers calling for a revolution. Updated!

Please read this article and then send it to any of your friends or family who are Teabaggers or talking about overthrowing the "Obama-nation" or starting a revolution.

For those of you calling for a civil war, I implore you to stop and think about what you're saying. Look around your neighborhood and your city. Now imagine using that terrain to survive. Imagine dodging semi-automatic rifle fire as you scramble from cover to cover, dragging your wounded child behind you. Imagine the deafening report of a mortar as it strikes the ground a 150 feet in front of you, the overpressure enough to shatter your teeth and perforate an ear drum. Try and envision a Stryker rolling through neighbor's front lawn or a F/A-18 making lazy loops over your head in Close Air Support for the troops in the distance.

Now I 'd like to disperse a myth here - many of you think that US military would not fight civilians. I can't speak for all, but in my case - the moment you declare civil war, you're no longer civilians. The moment you attack the constitution, you're now enemies of that constitution. And I swore to defend and support and if necessary give my life for that Constitution and utilize every tool, technique, and weapon at my disposal to do so. And trust me, I'm not alone.

Update:  For some reason the marine's letter was taken down.  You can still read it here. I am interested as to why the origianl post was removed.

Update 2:  Here is the Marine's rewritteen post after he and his family were theatened. Now somebody please tell me again that the Teabaggers are simply partiotic Americans expressing their opinions peacefully.

On her way home from a biker bar Palin stops in Arizona to twist the knife she stabbed into John McCain's credibility during the 2008 campaign.

I have not seen a man suffering so much pain onstage since Roy was attacked by that tiger.

Her speech is nothing but talking points and stale jokes about past mistakes.

Alan Grayson: Teabagger opponent an "undead minion" in Palin "Zombie Army".

Damn I am REALLY starting to love this guy!

From the Orlando Sentinel:

Less than a week after Sarah Palin directed her zombie army to “take out” Congressman Alan Grayson, one of her undead minions has risen to the challenge. Peg Dunmire has filed to run as the Florida Tea Party’s candidate against Grayson in November. Dunmire evidently is the first person to qualify as an official Tea Party candidate in any House race in the country.

“I read Dunmire’s announcement,” said Grayson. “I then forwarded it to the Guinness Book of World Records, for consideration under the category ‘Most Consecutive Cliches.’ This kind of right-wing drivel gave America $4-a-gallon gas and two endless wars, and drove us all to the brink of national bankruptcy. Was she living in a cave for eight years?”

Grayson was asked why he thinks that Dunmire decided not to run as a Republican. He laughed out loud. “Dunmire is not running as a Republican, because the Republican Party of Florida smells worse than a rotting carcass. The stench reaches all the way to the Georgia state line,” Grayson said. “For goodness’ sake, on the day that their state leader resigned in disgrace, a ‘Shred-It’ truck rolled up to Republican headquarters. Dunmire doesn’t want any part of what the grand jury in Orange County rightly called their ‘Culture of Corruption.’”

McCain and Palin together again! Because some people are just slow learners.

Actually I am very interested in whether Palin will have any effect one way or the other.  And if she does, will it be positive or negative?

Will TLC have trouble finding advertisers for Sarah Paliin's reality show?

Advertising Age reports that TLC's usual advertisers may shy away from a show hosted by Sarah Palin:

Ad buyers are already suggesting that the show may not attract advertising from big marketers that need to appeal to the broadest possible audience. Smaller players, on the other hand, may see opportunity.

(Sarah Palin demonstrates how she will help the Discovery Channel get the Alaska wildlife to stay still for the cameras)

"Conservative companies don't want to ruffle any feathers," said Ira Berger, director-national broadcast, at Dallas independent Richards Group -- referring to risk-averse major marketers, not political persuasion. "But if you're the number-seven brand in a six-company category, then why not shake it up and take a chance?"

Flare-ups over politically tinged remarks in news programming have also made some marketers more cautious. The brouhaha over Glenn Beck at Fox News last year -- as well as the hot-button debates that run on NBC Universal's MSNBC -- prompted Clorox Co. to say last August that it would no longer run ads on any programming in the genre.

Advertisers may also have to be convinced whether the new program fits with TLC, a cable channel that is usually centered on family, parenting, home projects, cooking, weddings and fashion, not polarizing political personae or hikes under the Northern Lights. TLC saw 2009 ad revenue fall 1% to about $296.3 million from about $299.4 million, according to WPP's Kantar Media, a tracker of ad spending.

I know you are going to find this hard to believe but Eric Cantor lied about bullets fired into his campaign office.

Remember when Republican Whip Eric Cantor came out to talk about the growing violence against the Democrats who voted for the Health Care bill, and said the following?

"Oh that is terrible!" the news media said.

"I guess it IS happening on both sides", they said.

"Oh bullshit!",  I said.  I never believed his lying ass for a minute.  Well guess who was right.

Schoolhouse Rock's "I'm Just a Bill" gets updated ala Joe Biden.

Okay THAT is pretty damn funny!

Elizabeth Hasselbeck speaks out against Sarah Palin's use of crosshairs to target Democrats. Update!

I was at the gym today, on my favorite Cybex elliptical machine, working off some girl scout cookies, when I looked up at the bank of televisions on the wall in front of me and spotted the image below.

I immediately pulled my earphone plug out of my I-phone and jammed it into the receiver on my machine and listened in amazement as Elizabeth Hasselbeck on the "View" absolutely demolished Sarah Palin and the other conservative hate mongers for inciting violence.

No I am not kidding.  The very same Elizabeth Hasselbeck who accompanied Palin on a number of campaign stops in 2008 and even received an honorable mention in "Going Rogue", is flat fed up with Caribou Barbie.

I am not usually a fan of Hasselbeck but I have to admit she showed a hell of a lot more class then most of the GOP has shown in response to this hate speech.

I am still looking for video of the segment.  If any of you locate any please send me a link.

Update:  I found it on YouTube.  It starts right off on the subject of threats and hate speech.  Hasselbeck begins her response at 1:39.

Update 2: Celtic Diva reminds us that before this Sarah Palin honed her hate speech skills by going after Alaska bloggers. Gee where was OUR security?

Sarah Palin's extravagant rock star demands cause further infighting among Teabaggers.

Palin’s contract, according to Shreeve, who had a look at it, called for her to be paid $100,000 for the event. It also included $18,000 for private jet travel for her and her entourage. Shreeve told me Palin's contract — standard among political stars who make the speaking-circuit rounds — specified what type of private jet she requested for the trip to Nashville. “It was like, she had to have this or that size plane,” Shreeve recalls. “It was like when a rock star comes to town, the contract was that detailed.”  (To read the rest of this article click here to visit New York Magazine.com)

Sarah Palin has NEVER been in this to help the people.  Sarah Palin is now, and has always been, about Sarah Palin.  The minute she stood before those cheering crowds during the 2008 campaign Palin became an addict. There is little doubt that in her mind Sarah believes herself to be the Right Wing version of Elvis. And she will demand that she be treated like the star she now believes herself to be.

It should not escape anybody's notice that when Palin targeted the 20 Democrats she claimed to want to defeat in the upcoming elections she did NOT suggest the money go to their opponents individual campaigns.  She demanded that the money go to SarahPAC. Remember that in the last financial disclosures it was proven that SarahPAC spent more money to purchase Palin's own book to give away to donors than they spent to actually help candidates.  Everything she does is to gain further prominence and get paid. Period.

AKMuckraker has many interesting details concerning our Mayor and his young female...um...friend? Update!

AKM has really done a lot of digging and seems to have some up with come very interesting and troubling pieces of this potential scandal.  Just click click here to get brought up to speed.

And by the way AKM is on Shannyn's show talking about this right this minute!  Click here to listen in.

Oh this is getting very good!

Update:  Here is the podcast form today's Shannyn Moore show with her and Jeanne Devon discussing the "Strange case of the Anchorage Mayor and his party planning bimbette"

Increased threats toward Democrats in wake of health care reform inspire security concerns. Is Sarah Palin partly to blame? Update!

This is bullshit! In my opinion Sarah Palin has defined herself as a domestic terrorist and should be investigated by Homeland Security.

I know that sounds like hyperbole, but since we have seen how agitated the Facebook fruitcake can make her crazed minions I do not believe it is an overreaction.

It is time to hold her accountable for the hate that she she inspires in the ignorant and disaffected in this country.

Here is video of Senators Jim Clyburn and Steny Hoyer holding a  press conference concerning security concerns.

Since when do politicians have to fear for their life for the crime of passing legislation? What kind of country is Sarah Palin and her followers trying to create?

Update:  It looks like this is serious enough to involve the FBI!  If they need directions to Sarah Palin's house I would be happy to provide them.

Will having a reality show finally force Sarah Palin to face "reality"? Yeah, that'll be the day!

It looks like despite the fact that it is one of the stupidest ideas ever, Sarah "There's plenty of room for Alaska's animals, right next to the mashed potatoes" Palin will in fact have a "reality show" on the Discovery Channel where Sarah will stand in front of fake backdrops, while a wind machine ruffles her wig ever so natural like, and she describes the wildlife that she is seeing for the first time in her life.

"Well that right there...wait let me check my palm...is a snowshoe hare.  Wow he is a cute little fella!  I usually only see their hind ends as they frantically run away as I am firing wildly in all directions trying to murder them.  Gosh it is so adorable we should skin it later and make mittens for Piper!"

Paul Krugman steps back to compare the strategies used by both sides in the health care debate.

Just a portion of this fascinating opinion piece from the New York Times:

And let’s be clear: the campaign of fear hasn’t been carried out by a radical fringe, unconnected to the Republican establishment. On the contrary, that establishment has been involved and approving all the way. Politicians like Sarah Palin — who was, let us remember, the G.O.P.’s vice-presidential candidate — eagerly spread the death panel lie, and supposedly reasonable, moderate politicians like Senator Chuck Grassley refused to say that it was untrue. On the eve of the big vote, Republican members of Congress warned that “freedom dies a little bit today” and accused Democrats of “totalitarian tactics,” which I believe means the process known as “voting.”

Krugman really does no more than state the obvious, but he does so in a way that is quite enlightening and demonstrates just how badly Republicans may have damaged their brand in the long run in order to battle a program that is going to gain universal acceptance in just a matter of months.

"Republicans originally thought that Fox worked for us, and now we are discovering we work for Fox"

I know that the GOP has always had corporate masters, but this is ridiculous!

Palin returns to Facebook and threatens to punish 20 of the Democrats who dared oppose her will.

From ADN:

Palin announced SarahPAC's "Take Back the 20" campaign on Facebook.

"We're going to fire them and send them back to the private sector, which has been shrinking thanks to their destructive government-growing policies," she said in her Facebook posting. "Maybe when they join the millions of unemployed, they’ll understand why Americans wanted them to focus on job creation and an invigorated private sector."

Palin said they'll be focusing on three districts in Arkansas, Indiana and Tennessee where Democrats are retiring as well as on 17 incumbents in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Sister Sarah is in a right snit about the passing of this health care bill and she is bound and determined to raise enough money to challenge these upstart Democrats even if it bankrupts every single one of her wide eyed drooling followers to do it!

I bet that almost makes it hard for her to sleep on her 300 count Egyptian silk sheets, in the cozy little room she shares with Piper, surrounded by the gaudy buildings she paid for with money she made by giving repetitive speeches, signing her name to a ghostwritten book, and making crap up on Fox News. The poor baby!

I wonder how much of HER money Sarah is giving to these political campaigns?  Is there a number less than zero?

Update:  Here is the graphic the crazy bitch is using.  And this is after she tweeted: Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!"

(H/T to Kat)

Uh oh! It looks like Mayor Sullivan has been a very, very bad boy.

There have been murmurings aplenty about Dan Sullivan and his philandering ways but nothing definitive enough to post.

But today cocky newcomer AlaskaWTF seems to have the scoop.

Well gee I was going to attend tonight's Assembly meeting just to see Sullivan's face when he was confronted with the two resolutions demanding evidence of a contract to prove he should have received that $193,000 payment on his father's pseudo life insurance policy. But now with THIS story breaking I would not miss it for the world!

One thing about Alaska politics, it is NEVER boring!

Update: I received more information that this story is gaining even more momentum, and we should have more details by tonight or early tomorrow.  Is there not ONE Republican in this state who is not a corrupt hypocrite?

Sometimes Joe Biden frustrates me, but other times I just love the guy. This is one of those times.

I could not have said it better myself Mr. Vice President.

The Discovery Channel may have won the booby prize!

I read a lot of versions of this story, but THIS one was my favorite.

The Hollywood Reporter says Discovery Channel has won the Sarah Palin reality show sweepstakes. Considering the broadcast networks all passed and there was only one other cable channel in the running, we're not sure what exactly they won. According to THR, the cost to the cable channel may be more than $1 million per episode which, uh, sounds insane. Wanna bet on whether this thing gets on the air, much less lasts a whole season? Not that we're keeping score, but THR originally reported that Discovery Channel was not interested in the show, but that its sister network TLC was. We'll wait for an official release from Discovery before we start the official mocking of them.

If the Discovery channel still employs scientists to help with research you would think they might have noticed that EVERYTHING Palin touches is either badly damaged or completely destroyed. Even hiding in a shark cage will not protect them from the shrapnel created when this thing blows up in their face.

Heavy reading Tuesday. Time to learn the truth about the Teabagger movement.

First let's look into the money behind the "grass roots" Teabagger organization.

Meet the Koch brothers, from Wichita, Kansas.

The focus of most political groups is to influence candidates, lawmakers, agency heads, and reporters at the top of the system. But these two brothers have been executing a concerted plan for more than 30 years not only to influence those at the top, but also to go much deeper. They spend freely on dozens of ideologically grounded, right-wing groups to influence schoolteachers and high-school curricula, state and federal judges, lawyers and legal scholars, conservative policy thinkers and media producers, city-council candidates and local party activists--and their aim is to shove the country's national debate to the hard right, discombobulate the public's progressive wishes, and alter government policies to advance corporate interests generally and the Kochs' own interests specifically.

Here is a profile of just one of the Koch tentacles: Americans For Prosperity. AFP, the third-largest recipient of Koch foundation largesse, is the brothers' overtly political unit. Essentially, it is a front group for mass-producing front groups. Much like McDonald's churns out Big Mac franchises, AFP can pop out a grassrootsy-looking, cookie-cutter political operation on demand.

That was the money, now meet the muscle.

Rep. Alan Grayson eviscerates Sarah Palin.

At first I was a little upset that Grayson was playing in my pond, after all smacking Palin down for the stupid things she says is MY job, but the guy does such a good job that I think I will give him a pass.

Welcome to my world Rep. Grayson.

Sarah Palin's opinion on Health Care no longer matters!

Sarah Palin has taken her rage to Facebook and, through her ghostwriter, thrown herself on the ground to throw a ginormous tantrum.

It is a sad hateful little rant, and I was going to go through it to pick it apart and expose each lie and ridiculous assertion.  But then it hit me.

It simply does not matter.

Now that the health care bill is passing, and will soon become law, the opinion of Sarah Palin, the Teabaggers, and the obstructionist GOP simply DOES NOT MATTER.

Republican who yelled "baby killer" at Democrat Bart Stupak identified!

Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) has come forward and admitted that he was the one who yelled "baby killer" during the House debate on the health care bill last night.

In his statement, Neugeubauer said that he meant to refer to the bill as "a baby killer," not Stupak himself. That said, he has apologized to Stupak.

It should be noted that in addition to the "baby killer" outburst, Neugebauer is also a sponsor of the so-called "Birther Bill," introduced by Rep. Bill Posey (R-FL), to require presidential candidates "to include with the committee's statement of organization a copy of the candidate's birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution."  (Rest of the story can be found at Talking Points Memo)

So there you have it Republicans, the face of the GOP in 2010.  The only question is will this also be the future as well?  Or will the Republicans realize that they must adapt or die out?

The next time somebody asks you why the Democrats did not try harder to get Republicans to help craft this Health Care bill, just play them this video.

Update: For some reason this video simply will not embed properly so instead I will offer this link to YouTube.

The "baby killer" remark is at the 40 second mark.

Does THAT seem like a party that is interested in calm reasonable negotiations?

The Republicans decided from DAY ONE that they were not going to cooperate on this legislation, or really ANY of Obama's legislation, because they want to cripple his presidency.  Essentially they fear that if he is as successful, and a popular, as they fear he might be that their party is doomed.

Are they wrong?

Actually no.

The GOP is badly damaged by the eight years of George W. Bush, and if the first Democratic president in office after his term hits it out of the ballpark, the Republicans will have a hell of time taking up residence in the White House anytime soon.

Even if they are smart enough NOT to run Sarah Palin.

Geoffrey Dunn points out Palin's latest health care lie.

She is STILL lying? Yeah I was just stunned.  Stunned I tell you!

Apparently yesterday during the Health Care vote Sister Sarah's thumbs were twitching across her Blackberry like a Wasilla resident on Meth, and the tweets started flying fast and furious.

Geoffrey Dunn could not help but notice that her tweets were both maniacal and unfettered by a little thing we like to call "facts".

Palin -- whose duplicitous allegation of "death panels" helped establish the rancorous tone of the national discussion about health-care reform -- has consistently shown her capacity for deceit throughout the debate. The truth never seems to get in the way of her ugly and relentless political opportunism.

Her latest Twitter posting wallowed in the same shameful duplicity of her "death panel" hyperbole -- which earned her the dubious award of Lie of the Year from PolitiFact.com. Apparently, Palin is working on a two-peat in 2010.

History has been made! Update: Post now improved with video of Palin throwing a hissy fit!

Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage.

Widely viewed as dead two months ago, the Senate-passed bill cleared the House on a 219-212 vote. Republicans were unanimous in opposition, joined by 34 dissident Democrats.

The Republicans could not stop it.  The Teabaggers cold not stop it.  Glenn Beck could not stop it.  And even crazy old Sarah Palin could not stop it.

Today America wins, and the fear mongers, the liars, and the hypocrites don't.

In the immortal words of my half term ex-governor "We win, you lose!"

Conservative journalist David Frum admits that the GOP screwed up concerning the health care bill. Update: Now with video!

I know you are feeling good about today, but I encourage you to read this and allow yourself to feel even better!

Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s.
It’s hard to exaggerate the magnitude of the disaster. Conservatives may cheer themselves that they’ll compensate for today’s expected vote with a big win in the November 2010 elections. But:

(1) It’s a good bet that conservatives are over-optimistic about November – by then the economy will have improved and the immediate goodies in the healthcare bill will be reaching key voting blocs.

(2) So what? Legislative majorities come and go. This healthcare bill is forever. A win in November is very poor compensation for this debacle now.

So far, I think a lot of conservatives will agree with me. Now comes the hard lesson:

A huge part of the blame for today’s disaster attaches to conservatives and Republicans ourselves.

Tina Fey thankful she looks so much like Sarah Palin.

"You can grow up wanting to make movies or wanting to appear on 'SNL', but I don't think anyone sits there dreaming, 'Well, I hope there's a politician out there who looks just like me so I can do impersonations of her'," she told the Daily Mail.

"It was weird because so much of what I've done has come out of sheer doggedness and then this fell into my lap. It put me on the map for people who hadn't seen 30 Rock or 'SNL', so what can I say? I'm indebted to her!"

Well as somebody else who gained some attention, both good and bad, from writing about Sarah Palin, I think it is worth noting that if there if Tina Fey had not been so talented her physical similarities to Palin would not have been enough to secure her fame.

I mean how many other comedic actresses could have pulled this segment off as well as she did?

Is Stupak a yes vote on Health Care bill? Dem Chariman says yes, Stupak office will not commit. Update: MSNBC says YES!

A Democratic chairman says a leading abortion foe will back President Barack Obama's health care bill. But the office of Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan says no decision has been made.

Rep. Henry Waxman of California says party leaders have been able to secure the support of Stupak.

(Read more here)

Well I wish somebody would light a fire under Stupak and get him to stop playing coy and give it up for the President. I just hate a tease.

Besides what Democrat could possibly still resist after Obama's speech yesterday?

Sullygate heats up as Anchorage Assembly member Matt Claman adds his own resolution to the one presented by Harriet Drummond.

So now we have another Assembly member demonstrating some chutzpah and "sacking up" to take on this clearly illegal brazen robbery of the city's treasury.

About damn time if you ask me.

Just look at this little prick to our left.

Would you trust this guy to even sell you a used car?  Hell no!

He is exactly the kind of guy who gives politicians a bad name. And the same hands that he is using to grope these poor young women are the ones he now uses to count his ill gotten gains. (Here I picture Sullivan laying on a pile of money yelling "Mine, its' all mine!" That is MY visualization, of course you are welcome to come up with your own.)

However the city also has heroes, and right now our main superhero is Assembly member Harriet Drummond, who was the ONLY person on the Anchorage Assembly to recognize that there was a serious problem with the original resolution that was introduced on February 16th.

On this issue, at least when it comes to the Assembly, Harriet Drummond is clearly Batman.  And she immediately reached into her utility belt and produced her own resolution challenging the validity of the Mayor's payout.  Of course where would Batman be without a sidekick.  So now we can add Matt "Robin" Claman's resolution to Harriet's. (Are there OTHER heroes on the Assembly who have not donned their colorful costumes and decided to join the team?  I don't know, but I certainly hope so.  I visualize a kind of Justice League of Anchorage!)

Those are the heroes we have identified in the Assembly thus far, as for superheroes in the community well you can find that person by clicking right here.

Could this be President Obama's greatest speech yet?

For those of you who have a hard time with the video, here is the full text.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, everybody. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Everybody, please have a seat.

To Leader Reid, to Steny Hoyer, John Larson, Xavier Becerra, Jim Clyburn, Chris Van Hollen, to an extraordinary leader and extraordinary Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and to all the members here today, thank you very much for having me. (Applause.) Thanks for having me and thanks for your tireless efforts waged on behalf of health insurance reform in this country.

I have the great pleasure of having a really nice library at the White House. And I was tooling through some of the writings of some previous Presidents and I came upon this quote by Abraham Lincoln: "I am not bound to win, but I'm bound to be true. I'm not bound to succeed, but I'm bound to live up to what light I have."

The Teabaggers and the Circus. Is there really any difference?

Just listen to the ignorance.  It is absolutely stunning how easy it is for the GOP to get people to protest something that they simply do not understand.

How they did it! The complete Sullygate timeline from 1982 to 2010.

My good friend, and researcher extraordinaire, Mel Green has put together a comprehensive (I am not sure "comprehensive" is a strong enough word to be honest) timeline for just how the 2010 Anchorage Assembly was bamboozled into cutting a check for $193,000 to Mayor Dan Sullivan, for a fake life insurance policy on his father.

This is an expansive post and you will be forgiven for not getting through it in one sitting. But I assure you that once you do, you will know FAR more about the convoluted history of this once in a lifetime, completely illegal, city of Anchorage funded "insurance policy" then did the Assembly members who voted to cut the check.

You will also see the inner workings of a fairly dysfunctional city government, and how each administration failed to fully understand the shell game being played on them by the friends and supporters of the Sullivan family.

Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin interview: the remix. Might be the funniest thing you see all day.

I found this over at AlaskaWTF and knew I had to share it.

P.S. it gets a little naughty toward the end, so be forewarned.

Predator control hunters using helicopters slaughter ENTIRE wolf pack in Alaska!

Helicopter-borne Alaskan predator control agents have killed an entire wolf pack from Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, prompting the National Parks Conservation Association to call for "immediate suspension" of the program near the national preserve.

National Park Service officials, meanwhile, are wondering why the shooters killed two radio-collared wolves, as the Park Service had an agreement with Alaska Fish and Game officials that collared wolves would be spared as they were part of a long-term study of wolf behavior in the preserve.

“We have meetings set tomorrow with state Fish and Game officials to ask that question," John Quinley, the Park Service's assistant regional director for communications and partnerships, said Thursday evening from his Anchorage office. "Basically, 'How did this happen? You’re two days into the (predator control) program and it’s already gone against the agreement that we thought we had pretty well in place, that was easy to understand.' We’re interested in how that fell apart so fast.”

The four wolves from Yukon-Charley's Weber Creek pack were killed Wednesday in the Fortymile area on the northwest side of the national preserve, the Park Service official said.

“We’ve been studying wolf populations in Yukon-Charley for 16 years and have a long data-set to understand the population dynamics," Mr. Quinley said. "These wolves are a value scientifically and they’re a value for visitors. Our position has been that we want to do all we can to maintain the naturally functionally ecosystems, which is a value of the Alaska parklands that you don’t find everywhere else.”

NPCA officials issued a statement Thursday saying "state gunners in helicopters killed the entire Weber Creek wolf pack from Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve, including two collared wolves from a 16-year National Park Service scientific study."

"NPCA calls for the immediate suspension of the state’s wolf eradication program in and around Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve until the Park Service is fully satisfied that the biological integrity of Yukon-Charley wolf packs can be evaluated and a healthy population of wolves can be ensured," the parks advocacy group added. North Carolina doctor lets his voice be heard in support of Obama's health care reform.

In 2008 nearly 300,000 North Carolina children (12.8 percent) were uninsured. The numbers are likely worse now. Does insurance really make a difference in children's health? Let me answer with a single statistic: uninsured children are 37 percent more likely to die when hospitalized than those with insurance.

We say we want our children to learn and be healthy so they can compete successfully with the world. But if they cannot see, hear, or breathe, if they suffer from obesity, diabetes, attention deficit disorder, dental caries, and infections, how is it we expect them to learn, much less compete?

Of course I am not just a health care provider; I am also vice president of the region's largest independent pediatric practice, employing dozens of workers. I was floored this year when it came time to negotiate an insurance plan for our employees. As doctors we feel we don't have the luxury many business owners exercise of forgoing health insurance for their employees altogether. But the cost this year was breathtaking, and what we and our employees got for our money was disappointing.

What I know as a doctor I also see as a business owner: The current system is failing us all, it is getting worse every year, and it cannot continue. (You can read the rest of Dr. David Hill's article here)
